I do...
It kind of has a very "Kitchens of the Future" feel to it though...doesn't it? Lets make sure Library 2.0 doesn't go the way of the automated egg flipper.
It reminded me of one of those interactive performance experiences...
That's cool!
No more 'shhhh'-ing in the library eh?
Shhh! Heh...
It's a really great concept... I hope it's not too far "out there" for librarians to embrace, because I think it would really bring the public in. Especially in a place like my hometown of Austin, Texas where live music is a huge thing. Being able to invite the community of musicians in for jam, recording, and community sessions would be so popular.
Yeah, I agree..... turn it into a community space, instead of a stop by and leave place....
I can imagine myself hanging out at a library like that!
I got that feeling too, Kasta... almost as if it were the type of interactive exhibits in a Science museum. I loved the jam session part...
Do libraries and museums do a lot of collaborative work?
I think it depends on the museum and the library. I know my library (Fine Arts at a uni) would love to collaborate more with the university's many museums, and there are some collaborations, but not enough.
I thought it would be a match made in heaven so to speak
I hear there's lots of bureaucracy. You also have to find people who work well together. It's another part of marketing the library and it's offerings... not just to the community but to community partners like museums. They don't necessarily think of libraries as a partner. We've got to give them a nudge...
Sounds pretty cool.
I worked in the library at uni in 1994 and they were excited by what the Internet could offer them not scared. But I guess it moves a bit slower then small business.
Nice though.
