I don't care if it's on the wiki. I may even blog about it later this evening.
In the case of user levels, I'm wondering...would everyone even want to be an admin? Maybe we should just make anyone who wants to be an admin an admin, and if people don't want to add pages or whatever to the site, they can stay at non-admin level.

Wouldn't it be cool if we had some LSW booty? Stickers, T-shirts, buttons, etc? Rikhei and Steve and I have talked about this some. Rikhei's looking into making LSW ribbons for CiL. I started thinking about setting up a CafePress store for LSW merchandise, but one problem (to me, at least) is: where would the money go? If I set up a CafePress store, and people actually bought stuff from it, I don't think it would be right for me to keep whatever small amount of money was made from that. Should we keep LSW swag as free giveaways only?

Is Librarianship a Profession?
Because Dorothea Salo doesn't have comments enabled on her blog, I present this blog post by her for comments here:
"Is Librarianship a Profession?"
Thoughts?

I asked this question about six months ago in the Meebo room, and got a solid "meh" as an answer from everyone. But every so often, I think about it again. Mostly because it costs nothing (but time) to create & maintain a FB group.

Should we who are going to be at CiL this year have some kind of meet-up or hanging-out or chatting-up (or other social compound word)?
And is everyone excited about the conference? I'm not! (Except for getting to see all of you, which I'm very excited about.)

Welcome to the Library Society of the World!
I've created a discussion forum for members of the Library Society of the World. Why? Well, I personally like web forums. It's a form of interaction I'm used to and enjoy. Also, I wanted to try out Tangler, and since it's free, I figured, why not?
This whole web forum thing may fall flat, and that's fine. Or it may attract spam and/or trolling, and that's just part of the internet experience. If this doesn't blossom into a site of awesomeness, I'm more than happy to kill it. This is an experiment, not something I've thrown all of my hopes and dreams on.
So, make of this what you will. Let's try it out and see what happens.

In my wildest dreams, we have an actual Library Society of the World domain and site, with wiki, discussion forums, embedded chat, and whatever else. Although I also find the scattershot, "temporary autonomous zone" aspect of the LSW appealing (and appropriate).
