Wouldn't it be cool if we had some LSW booty? Stickers, T-shirts, buttons, etc? Rikhei and Steve and I have talked about this some. Rikhei's looking into making LSW ribbons for CiL. I started thinking about setting up a CafePress store for LSW merchandise, but one problem (to me, at least) is: where would the money go? If I set up a CafePress store, and people actually bought stuff from it, I don't think it would be right for me to keep whatever small amount of money was made from that. Should we keep LSW swag as free giveaways only?

I think swag is a great idea! I love anything free, but it's going to cost to make it, unless you are supercrafty - and even then, supplies and time are an expense.

I like the cafe press idea. You could always start a CP store (I'll help, if you want), sell some stuff initially, and then use the profits to have some free swag made for giveaways at conferences and such. If there was enough profit, you could make free swag and send it out to librarians attending conferences that aren't near you....

Um. I need to get on that. With the ribbons. I hope it's not too late to order them for CiL. We need to talk about what we want on them...

    Also, I like coollibrarian's idea.

I haven't used CafePress before, but my understanding is that you can set the price so that you are making no money, and the buyer just pays the amount that would have gone to CafePress in the first place. Another issue is quality: I haven't ordered from CafePress, but I have heard their T shirts aren't very high quality.

Another thing would be to take orders for something like T Shirts and only order the ones that people had committed to buy.

Otherwise coollibrarian's idea--put any "profit" into LSW freebies--is a great plan. I don't think you'd have to worry about huge amounts of money...

Yeah, I wouldn't expect huge amounts of money in any case.

I've ordered some t-shirts from CafePress and found them to be pretty good quality. And as far as I know, it's pretty easy to set up a CafePress store. But I'm open to alternatives, too.

Oh, and of course I like coollibrarian's idea of putting any extra money into freebies. Great idea!

I like the CafePress idea only because it seems easy to set up and purchase from, especially when people are so spread out.  CafePress has more than just t-shirts too...  I would be willing to pay a little extra money to give LSW some "profit" too for something like that.

Yes! Swag! Yay! I want to buy a shirt (please, please not white)! Very excited!

Also, I think ribbons are a fabulous idea. Those could be free.

Did we ever decide on a slogan or a logo? I like the design tkeneipp did for Flair on Facebook (LSW: You can't shush this), but I know we have loads of other amusing ideas.

Question: what is the coolest swag item you ever got?

I'm really starting to think t-shirts would be cool. Not sure of the design or slogan yet, though.

The ribbons are a reality! Or will be soon, knock on wood. Steve created a page on the wiki about them.

I just created a new logo. What do people think as a t-shirt image?

I'm liking that. It looks comic-booky. In a good way.
