I here that Lost is hard to pickup half way through.

Ok, lemme try that again -

They were all in an aeroplane, they crashed, they didn't get rescused, they found some weird stuff on the island, some ppl died, they found some other ppl on the island they call the Others, the Others and them don't get along, some of them get caught. 

That's as far as we've gotten in Aust

Starting halfway will mean you miss a ton of stuff and won't understand whatever amazing new revelation they come out with in the new episode (said with a healthy dose of sarcasm, but still a valid point)

I wouldn't recommend it  to be honest - you could probably find the first 2 seasons DVDs for not too much, don't know about Season 3

As I've said, downloads are easy to find using torrents (if you want any help with getting that working I can assist) 

I would highly suggest what Super-King mentioned. Watch from the beginning. The catchup specials that air every once in awhile are just not enough. Take some time to watch them, or don't at all. But I will say that is the best show on television right now. Most cinematic experience I've had outside the theatre ever. Season 3 dvds should be out by August in the US. So if you start now, say one season a month, you should be set

yeah i did that in the first season and then i lost interest (i think that coz i naively believed that there would only be one season at the end of which all would have been revealed)...

I love the show and definitely would not recommend you starting from the middle.  Heck I watched seasons 1 and 2 on DVD eight or nine times.  Yeah I'm a little addicted.  Plus I still think season 1 was the best season (pending finale of season 3).  Wouldn't want to miss out on the best season of an amazing show.

I picked it up half way through the 2nd season. Helps that the missus works in a library. We got the first series on DVD over a few weeks.
