I remember reading a "survival" guide many decades ago... there was an interesting and potentially useful entry about what to do if you run into a bear in the woods. The entry on Cougars' while interesting was slightly less useful.
For you see in those days, the Cougars were less likely to be seen in the areas near the city, and out in the areas I hiked were much more likely to vanish into the brush than to remain in an area that humans were in. So for all my local hikes, I had seen many signs of cougars (paw prints; scrapes) only once did I see/hear movement that I thought might be a cougar - so the 'advice' in the book resonated with me:
<rough from memory> Cougars are an extremely beautiful and graceful animal that are seldom seen in the wilderness. They will know you are present long before you could ever detect them and will silently move away. They rarely attack humans.
They are however fierce predators and lay in ambush for their prey when hunting. Further, unlike bears, they are almost impossible to scare off once they have their sight on you. So, if you see one in the wild you should consider you self abnormally lucky. If, however, it should choose to attack you should consider yourself an unfortunate statistic.
That said, I do love the advice on the sign Marty.... If attacked by all means do fight back

"I'll make sure the winner is the only one clean"
Then "Last Clean Shirt" would seem to be the logical choice, but myself (hearing his topic) would suggest "Shit Creek" might be the most apropos

Err Marty.... I hope you're not expecting to see the object of your photo in Palo Alto (or even at Half Moon Bay)...
continued good fortune with Tangler...

Their spell checker is another slick piece of work... it works anywhere you might need it (including boxes such as the Tangler input)... I used it a couple months back then forgot about it when my demo expired.... I think I'll go back and sign up as my typing skills have led to several recent blunders in my postings...
One of the principles of Enso, Aza, is the son of Jef Raskin... he is taking a lot of his father's ideas (and his own and partners of course)on "Humananized Ui" from the realm of academic interest to practical implementation . Jef of course was one of the early visionaries in the design of the Macintosh way back when the technology was first transferred to Apple from its Xerox genesis....

Finally, I'm excited about eBooks
I've heard that it doesn't have a search capability....
why would they toss aside the one real advantage to the medium -- you still can't flip pages for a quick scanlike you can with paper to get your spatial memory functioning, so search has to substitute to find something quickly when you don't remember chapter and verse ...but this doesn't have it.
Still from everything I heard so far this is the closest to having a real electronic book so far.... I'm heading down to the US tomorrow and will indeed be having a look myself!
