Microsoft announced a "table top" computer yesterday and I was a little underimpressed. Yawn.

Then I watched this cool video...

Now that's a coffee table!

Though I might wait for the dining table version... how amazing would that be!

That and the new Google gears - both these technologies are turning points for the internet, I think. and interestingly, announced on the same day.

The screen because it extends the internet beyond the desktop computer

Google gears because it bridges the offline world with the online world - this gap has been biggest setback for web services before they dominate the world.

Combine the two - and you have the internet connecting you anytime, anywhere. That's big.

I'm not sure these specific technologies are those catalysts, but I think it's strong movement in the right direction.
