What else would make it easier to user? 

The pop-up  menus kinda disappear too fast. If you move the mouse even slightly away off the menu, it just vanishes

Oh wait.... the menus of the last category tend to stick around forever....

They all need to be more uniform in behaviour 

I found it pretty easy to use, even if I didn't know all the english words for body parts and so on, I was able to efficiently come up with diagnostics. 

Seems to have a low learning curve. Very simple to understand at first site.

Yeh the UI is fine, really simple to use. I don't understand the point of the pictures though? I click on it and it gives me a menu of items. When I click on the items, nothing happens? Is this a bug?

its supposed to set the symptom you click as if you had typed it.

Yeh definitely needs to be made clearer, maybe have an arrow pointing down saying something like "can't describe your symptoms? Try choosing from the pictures below"

Yeah, I had the same experience... I didn't see the symptoms come up at all, and spent a few minutes lost

Had some issues clicking on a part of the body and then trying to cancel. In Firefox 2

Why doesn't it remember my gender and age, at least for this session?

Also, when I click on a result the next page is a bit messy. I saw some empty fields and some search results which confused me. Ads work ok though.

I can see how in the future it could track my problems over time, maybe it could recommend information/articles ongoing.

Wouldn't you be worried abt your privacy tho? A tracking system would be keeping record of your health issues? 

I'd like to have some more search result options. Maybe have a list view to see the quick results and then get into more detail later.

And what about some more result refining results? How about letting me add more results after the fact? Even prompting me, like a procedural thing. Start with a headache, add a sore foot, add a tingling nose, etc, etc.

Yeah, that's true. Refining post a search would help.

I'm just worried that it's going to inform me I'm ready to be placed '6 feet under' when all I have is a mis-shapen nose.

Also maybe seeing similar problems that are not quite matching your symptoms.

The other missing things is the other way around... I want to know if I have something specific so show me the symptoms.

Would also be nice to see a list of potential diagnosis as you select criteria, rather than wait for a click through. Would be interesting then to keep changing/tweaking symptoms to see the differences.

Me too. That's why I use the Net. To finish tasks, find info etc...  I never just muck about on it. For me it's about practical problem solving...

can you give a brief overview of what the technology is? Is this more than a database viewer?

There are lots of algorithms that run on top of the data in the database that result in personalized results. Basically there are a large number of different probabilities that need to be combined given who you are (gender,age, etc). Also, for the web search sections (diagnoses, drugs, etc) we will be rolling a lot semantic datamining results. The more marketing speak of this is:

"MEDgle is powered by its extensive physician inputed and reviewed expert system cross connecting 7000 symptoms, 2000 diagnoses, ages, gender, lifestyle and more. This expert system is a combination of over 9GB of data and domain specific algorithms."
