REDHEADS are becoming rarer and could be extinct in 100 years, according to genetic scientists.
The current National Geographic magazine reports that less than two per cent of the world's population has natural red hair, created by a mutation in northern Europe thousands of years ago.
Global intermingling, which broadens the availability of possible partners, has reduced the chances of redheads meeting and producing little redheads of their own.

I'm marrying another ginger so we can keep the dream alive.
Good luck.... I've seen ginger parents with a dark brown haired child!![]()
I would be interested in reading some background matter on why one ginger mop might elect to mate with another?
Sorry Alex, but my search for information came up somewhat short... the best I could do on short notice was a piece published by the BBC on Subcultures of the British Teenage Population but you'll have to do your own extrapolation to quess if it might have something to do with the subject of your question. The quote:
"The Ginger: These fall into two categories: male, and female:
The male ginger is often the victim of undeserved abuse because of his pale skin tone and unusual hair colour. These can often lead to dramatic insults such as 'Ging-er!' or 'Why so pale?. Again, these are lacking originality and are often the outcome of jealousy on the part of the abuser, as it has been statistically proven that women like ginger men.
The female ginger has entirely different powers. Far from being taunted by the opposite sex, they seem to be desired beyond all comprehension. Hence the phrase 'fiery redhead'. They cultivate the 'pale and interesting' look in an entirely different way!"
I'll agree Bri I think that red guys have it worse then red head girls, I have always been told that men think red headed girls are on fire in the sack and that is why they are so coveted haha!
Imagine.... I had no idea abt this whole 'red-head' thing till I met Mick and his blog.
So much furore over the colour of someone's hair??
*scratching head*
All I ever knew is that it's a lovely colour.... And I tried to dye mine red once, but it wouldn't show![]()
Back in the days of the bubble, I spent a couple of years sporting Corvette Red hair. Loved it. Because I had to bleach the hell out of it first to get the color it used to get fat too, so I had this flouro red hair that looked and felt totally fake. It was geat, kind of Cabbage Patch Doll meets Elmo. I'm married now though and learning to be content with aging gracefully
I have balding and gray to look forward to...
Grey can be good.... adds highlights to your hair.
People pay good money for that!
Haa haaa - Red heads don't go grey!!
But I will go bald
Any photos of the old Red Hair Richard?
I'll have a dig around...![]()
