I have a few friends who use http://www.netflix.com and love it, but wanted to see what everyones opinion is. Do you like it? Do you pay a certain amount per month or only when you get new ones?

Anyone use the Australian ones like Quikflix?

I used the bigpond one... I mainly used it cos I couldn't get that selection of foreign films anywhere else in Aust.

It worked fine mainly, but then they had a restructuring, increased the pricing.

We were given the option of going on the new plans or sticking to the one we signed up to.

That's when everything started going wrong.
Whereas previously when they sent me a DVD what was faulty or wouldn't play, there was a system whereby I lodged a complaint, sent it back, and they credited my account.
They then decided that they would only honour two of these 'faulty' dvd complaints a month... but that didn't mean that they started sending dvds that worked! So I kept getting unplayable dvds, and no refunds

The clincher came when I suspended my account towards the end of the year. I think I suspended it for 3 months. I had suspended it before, and there were never any issues with it. In fact, that is one of their selling points. On demand dvd. Pick when you want them sent.

When I tried resuming my account, the site wouldn't work. I sent them 3-4 e-mails over the course of a two month period, NOT ONE RESPONSE.

    That was it then.

The shitty part is that I don't get my foreign flicks this way. And I had a database in my account, which was very valuable to me. All that is gone.

So I for one will never ever go for online rentals again. Most don't have a good selection or availability of dvds. And they are expensive. It's just so much more worth it to show up at your local store if need be.

We've been using Quickflix for a while now... and we LOVE it! No more late fees, no more standing in line...

The thing that I really love about Quikflix is that it lists new movie releases (when they are actually playing at the movies)... Seeing as I always miss things at the movies, I love the fact that I can go in to Quickflix and add it to our list while it is top of mind.

Let me know what you think!

We just watched Paris J'taime last night (from Quickflix) highly recommended.
