  • New Tribalism

That article had some major issues - like the author keeps making generalisations to back a point.

However, I do tend to agree. With the way things stand right now, it is easy to create and sustain specialised niche communities based around an interest or issue.

This is not to say that 'tribal' groups are a new thing. It just might be easier to reach out and find other like minded people

True, we may not be able to tell the difference.... but will we still have control of the characters in the game?

  • Jean-Paul Satre

    Came across this gem:

    JEAN-PAUL SARTRE, 911 OPERATOR

OPERATOR: 911. What is your urgence?

CALLER: Operator, I need an ambulance. I think I just cut my finger off in the blender ...

OPERATOR: (The sound of a cigarette being lit, then an exhale.)

CALLER: Do you hear me, man! I need an ambulance at 2304 Powell St. Now!

    OPERATOR: Ceci s'intéresse.
Yes, the predicament of Roquentin ... yes ... it is the indifference to
existence of the inanimate. No matter how much he longs for something
other or something different, he cannot get away from the plundering
evidence of his engagement with the world. You know, le Monde. I think we must look at ...

CALLER: What in the shit are you talking about? I was just making margaritas ...

    OPERATOR: Ah, oui. Vous pensez.
A typical ignorance of the common folk. Perhaps this is why you sit
with your extremity half-digested in the bowels of the blender. It
seems you are ... comment devoir je dis ... a student of Kant? Freedom. I spit.

CALLER: I think I'm going to pass out ...

Morals aren't religion based.... they're socially determined. They're just legitimised via religion (and now law to an extent)

Can you give me some examples where humans have created worlds or universes? Are you talking abt gaming?

  • nature of immortality

actions that are of negative value such as conflict, exploitation etc will be washed out over time

I disagree with you there. If anything, those will be around forever.

  • The future of life

I'm in the midst of Donna Haraway's 'Modest_Witness@Second_Millennium.FemaleMan©Meets_OncoMouse™'  in which she follows a similar line of reasoning. The gist of it is that our subjectivities are already a symbiosis of human and technology... She uses the term cyborg a lot, but not only in terms of a physical enmeshing of human and machine, but of how we see, experience and are
