hey everyone, if you have any questions for the product manager of the N78 please put them in here, the answer sessions will be taking place soon!
Is the navi-wheel going to be used only for the music and gallery like the N81 or can you use it in other menus?
Will the N78 be released in germany? Because DVB-H is not that popular here at the moment.
Will the US 3G version be launched at the same time as the other versions, or will there be a delay?
Is there an accelerometer?
What was the motivation behind the keypad? It looks excruciating to use.
Is the keypad touch sensitive or is there physical feedback when pressing a key?
Why nokia have given N81 like touch (design) in n96 & n78 ?
is the navi-wheel available throughout the browser and ngage? does it have settings or like the n81 it can only be activated and deactivated without being able to adjust the sensitivity and reactivity
as said before, the keypad looks excruciating to use so how will it integrate ngage and will it adapted to long gaming times?
any explanation concerning the lack of multimedia keys on the n78?
will it charge via USB?
very good question ricky
Accelerometer? Wow, that's awesome.
What is the available RAM after boot?
hey guys, the N78 product manager is on his way, they're having problems with WIFI there, but should be here in about 20 minutes![]()

Is the navi-wheel going to be used only for the music and gallery like the N81 or can you use it in other menus?
Answer: No, it works in other applications too. It works really well in long lists and carousels, so for example viewing images in the Photos carousel. Contacts, Inbox, Playlists are also supported. Pretty much anywhere where there are long lists. It also works in Main Menu and Multimedia menu.

Answer: Not sure about the reference to DVB-H, but yes, N78 will be available in Germany.

Is there an accelerometer?
Answer: Sadly not. This was one of the compromises we had to make. But by leaving it out we were able to squeeze A-GPS and FM transmitter into a slimmer package than we already had in N73.

“Is the keypad touch sensitive or is there physical feedback when pressing a key?”
Answer: There is tactility behind every key, meaning that you get a positive click when you press the key. We know from research and experience that touch-sensitive keys can be frustrating to use, and we wanted to avoid that. But at the same time we wanted to create a sleek flat surface, so there are real keys behind that surface, as well as sensors. The experience is positive.

“any explanation concerning the lack of multimedia keys on the n78?”
Answer: You’re talking about music keys, right? Well we looked at the possibility of that. We just weren’t able to fit them into the package without compromising usability of other feature. The inbox headset has music keys.

“What was the motivation behind the keypad? It looks excruciating to use.”
Answer: Which bit looks excruciating - the numeric keys? Actually they’re just fine. Of course we do a lot of testing on these things, and we get the same input and error rates as we do with for example N73.

Will the US 3G version be launched at the same time as the other versions, or will there be a delay?
Answer: Pretty much the same time – at least within a couple of weeks. The Americas version (North America and Latin America) has different WCDMA bands and the certification testing will take a few more weeks.
wow thanks for answering most of the questions. I do think the numeric keys look painful to use, specifically one handed without looking at the phone the whole time. However, I'll try to withhold official judgement until I've used it.![]()
On the US 3G version, are there plans being made with AT&T, since it supports their 3G network, or will it be solely launched as an unbranded/unlocked handset?
Good afternoon, I noticed the bit where Geotagging was included in the phone. Now is this the same IC used in the Nokia N95? I wouldn't like to wait 30 seconds for my photo to finish processing. If an advanced chip as Sirf Star III was included, the GPS lock could be much faster
I want to know the size of the RAM and which cpu it use , TI or Freescale
I'm guessing and hoping it isn't anything less than the N95's ARM 11 at 332mhz
will N78 support the upcoming T-Mobile (1700 Mhz) WCDMA or only the at&t's flavor ?
WCDMA frequencies are stated to be 900 and 2100. so i guess neither for now
When will this phone be available in North America?
The N78 isnt much differet from the N73 in terms of features except for the Wi-Fi and some more bonuses.Yet Nokia says that it is the successor of the N73.Why is it the successor?I feel the N82 is the real successor.
