web.omnidrive.com does not ping and so neither the Windows client nor the Web interface are working
I tried from two different locations in two different countries.
Nobody from Omnidrive to address this issue ? Am I the only one to have the problem ?
Thanks.
Same here. Can't connect to web.omnidrive.com or with the windows client. I signed up for my account yesterday, and I haven't had the chance to upload anything yet. Kinda disappointed for day 1. ![]()
I reckon Omnidrive support is not 24/24 and we'll have to wait a few hours as it is the middle of the night in Australia!
They need to have a monitor and alert system for these things. At our company, when things aren't working properly, we get text messages to our phones...even at 3 in the morning. I guess I'll wait until later today.
This is the second time that it happens since I test the service (plus some files that don't want to upload for whatever reason, issue still pending with the support) and I'm not impressed by the communication and speed regarding these problems.
Having problems (not too often) is OK for me, but no communication whatsoever about them is really annoying.
I've been using omnidrive since the beginning of the summer and thi is the second time that I have seen web.omnidrive.com down. The first time it was fixed in a day but this time it seems to be since the weekend - and it is now Wednesday night! There is no information coming from omnidrive so, with such a long outage, I am very disappointed. ![]()
This is crazy... no news and offline for three days. Also no response from support. I'm gonna take all my stuff off as soon as it is up again. Let's pray that that is still this year.
This is obviously a service that can't be depended on and so is not for use by businesses like mine or those I would refer. Who knows what kinds of problems they have caused me while I assumed this service was doing what I have paid them to do. I hope they realize how many business clients they are losing while they get their beauty sleep. I've worked in IS for 30 years and can not recall anything so unprofessional as not monitoring their services.
I won't be renewing or refering anymore businesses to this service.
Night night. Don't let the bed bugs bite.
so what is the deal with omni drive... this has to have been dead or dieing for the last 3 days... all my class notes and homework is on omnidrive and now i'm hooped...
is the omnidrive support team going to say anything?
I only signed up yesterday for a paid account. Their systems were working well enough to take my money!
Omnidrive Web was working yesterday morning (GMT) but died on me in the middle of a transfer. Surely it is in their own interests to keep people informed. Very disappointing.....
Coming back after a good night sleep hoping for good news.... nothing ! The "funny" thing is that their blog page says "All technical difficulties have been resolved!". Good news ... wait... the date is August 31st !![]()
Omnidrive, we do need some solid explanations on this and on your silence. At this point I can't keep my data with you: as far as I know the company is closed?
Thanks.
*** PRESS RELEASE ***
The pay checks bounced and the CEO Nik Cubrilovic is on the Riviera with Natasa and what's left of the money.
Omnidrive is officially out of business. Indictments to follow.
I just logged in...are you kidding search4truth? ugh, just gave them my money two weeks ago. i want a refund if its going down...hell with as poor the service has been, i want a refund anyway![]()
I note that Phil Morle (CTO) is no longer shown as a participant of this group...
It seems to be back up and running....
However, I've dropped notes to everyone I believe is from the company that is a participant of this group.... but have not got any response either directly or here in this topic.
I'm not a paid subscriber -- but it is becoming less and less likely that I will be.... I can wait through a company's technical growing pains (and will support them as much as I can) but being completely silent in times of difficulty and/or crisis is a symptom of a much bigger problem in my opinion.... I hope I'm wrong.
I think it's really strange.
I hope it's not dead (The company).
I knew moving the forum to "Tangler" would mean reduction in the service quality.
I think you're mistaken in causal effect re your last sentence, Drazick....if a company decides not to talk to its users something more than choice of platform is the issue.
Tangler should have made it much more easy to maintain a high level of communication - but the Omnidrive management had to consciously decide not to use this, or any other vehicle, to post information about their status.
Its now been 4 business days (plus weekend) since the rumors stared here .... 5 business days since the significant outage in service.
The company still shows no interest in satisfying the legitimate concerns of its customer base and those who supported their efforts through the beta process....I'm afraid that they are moribund in spirit if not actuality.... Though I'm still hoping I'm wrong and this is all just a case (temporarily; as bad as it may be) of total communications and customer service mismanagement; but I don't think so.
I've backed up everything I had stored on their system (backed up my backup if you will) and will mostly only miss the fact that I have many images posted to Tangler that are hosted on a public omnidrive interface.... and these will be lost to the Tangle if they shut down completely. I'm actively looking for a replacement option.
I do agree with bricoleur, unfortunately. I have to say I am really crestfallen to see that Omnidrive people are still nowhere to be heard! I guess there is no choice other than to consider that they are on the verge of closing.
Actually I already changed to a competitor and I just came back out of curiosity...
Good luck to everybody.
@al2, Where did you move?
I really like Mediamax, though their GUI isn't the best.
Xdrive looks cool, yet I only have AIM account they won't let me in.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks.
I signed up with http://www.steekr.com/ : so far so good !
Hi everyone - Nik here from Omnidrive. Apologies for the late response here but we have all been working through support emails and inquiries from the past week. We were down for anywhere from 6-12 hours first because the main data center was under a DoS attack and second because the main redirector crashed. After that period we have been fully up and running and keeping as many people as possible updated with progress. Apologies that I didn't get around to coming into here until now, but I have been jugling tons of email and being on the road (in the USA) at the same time
and no, Omnidrive isn't closing - but it isn't unusual for rumors to get out of hand
also - we added 4 more servers over the weekend which are now live to increase capacity, as usage has been increasing rapidly recently
Second DoS attack in less than a month. That is obviously cause for considerable concern.
As to the rest, I would just remind you that there are about 600 subscribers to this group.....
One note here would probably do much more to keep "as many people as possible updated with progress" than any other possible vehicle (possible exception - your blog which also wasn't updated but appeared to remain up through the whole process).
Bricoleur: it was other sites in the same datacenter that were being targeted both times. Your right, I will be updating in here from now, didn't realize the group was so active here
omnidrive was effectively useless to me for about 2 and half days... i've already backed up my stuff to box.net
omnidrive will inevitably go down again, and i'll be on box for good...
kumar: what is your Omnidrive username so we can check it out? I dont think it was down for anybody for 2.5 days..
I moved from Omnidrive to Tubes (TubesNow.com) for storing, sharing and collaborating on files for my small business. So far so good....although you can not edit docs online.
