I really really like the idea of this. For a non Geek like myself it just sounds so useful. I assume it can be used to backup files?
"access them from anywhere with the speed of desktop storage"
This seems a litte misleading. Since when have internet speeds been comparable to me plugging in an external hard drive? Firewire transers at 800Mbit/s while most consumer internet speeds will not get close to 50. I'd say this is a huge difference. I don't think it's practical for the average user to backup data onto Internet storage at the moment, although it is viable for backing up a small amount of data.
There's certainly a notable difference when dealing with onine storage and physical storage.
Oh. Ok. So it's more about being able to share files etc...
I agree that it is currently too complex for a non technical contact.
They will have to make it easier to undertand and use as they go.
is anyone from Omnidrive lurking here? I'm suprised at no response to my post on error on publish... from two days ago.....it seems to me that such an error is pretty serious stuff
I'll give the guys a prod!
They've been around before....
bjtitus: we make that claim because Omnidrive has an anticipating cache, which means that the files you access are more than likely going to be available on your desktop install
and yes, we will be hanging out here - we have been tangler users for a while now, we are all just a bit busy at the moment with the Web 2.0 Expo and our presentation/announcement there
