Will Particls save user's feeds, keywords, and settings to the server in future versions?
How would you see it working Dallas (or anyone else?)
What sort of options, privacy assurances and most of all - do youthink this could be a premium service that some would pay asubscription fee for?
hmmmmm, I was thinking that Particls would just save these details as you add / edit / delete them. However I was just thinking, Particls would need username and password to do that (for security reasons). The other idea is to get APML kicked off and look at that alternative (using a username/password for the file)
We certainly would like to add an optional un/pw account system so users can create an account to get some advanced services
I'm just wondering what those services should be - and which services people might feel are worth a subscription fee (if any)
I think a subscription fee for Particls on final release would be ok to have use of all the input/output adapters (depending on costs). After all, you need money to eat and Chris your starting to look a bit skinny.
Those who contribute input/output adapters to Particls can receive free subscriptions (all depends on the quality of the input/output adapter too).
Instead of storing my APML on the Particls server, how about having an option allowing it to store it's data to a remote FTP/Webdav server. That way, I could easily keep my APML file in synch on two different computers, not to mention allowing publishing of my attention data. (Which I'm not sure I live an open enough life to do that)
I have a native XML database that I'm sure would just love my APML info.
duck that's an awesome idea - i will run it by the team
@Chris
On a similar note, how does Particls deal with me modifying the APML file while it's running? Any problems with this? Will Particls reload the APML, or will I have to restart, or will it just overwrite it when it goes to make changes? (gasp)
duck i believe that right now it will overwrite your changes and/or be quite unhappy - APML is really designed like OPML where you can import and export it from places and not really as a way to sync in real time (without an application/broker in the middle)
But that being said - maybe the devs have pther ideas about this too - so i will point them here
Btw thank's very much for being so helpful to others - it is much appreciated!
unfortunately, I'm at work and Particls is at home. I made some changes to my APML, but forgot to check if it stayed. I'll check later.
