Known Issues
Not seeming to want to load my OPML file from Feedreader. Only about 20 feeds in it so nothing crazy huge or anything.
in the Adapter Gallery under developers clicking the "Write an adapter" link is opening in IE rather than my default broswer. Not a big deal but may need some attention
Trying to drag the little "handle" on the far right side of the news ticker causes my screen to get really crazy for a few seconds.
The craziness happens when you change any news ticker options also. The ticker does not disappear but it looks like it releases its area at the top of the screen about 3-4 times in a second so that my desktop icons move up and back down a few times very fast.
Hi!
I had a very big problem with the previous version (after start it throwed an alert with "Unhandled exception / Input string was not in a correct format"), and I was glad when I noticed that the new version is out now... I uninstalled the prev one, and installed the new one, also deleted the Particls directory in APPDATA, but this new version is keep annoying
So therefore I can't test Particls, but I'm so excited about it, really
Could you please help me, what can I do? (Or what and how can I help to you with debugging).
Thanks the answer!![]()
Hi JC - Did the last version load your OPML? What error/symptom do you get there.
Also is the display glitch new?
@Szabi - When you say keep annoying what do you mean? Does it display the sme error?
Also we forgot to include the best improvement - right click on items now lets you rate them up and down!
Chris:
Yep![]()
I've been leery of trying the right clip to rate up or down until I know just what it does... Although after the current news cycle I intend setting up some new feeds to play with this to find out)... but you can save me some time perhaps... if I select, for example, "show me less content on these subjects" does it decrement by a full point for every keyword matched in the article? partial point? only a subset of keywords?
Haha you're a controling guy Bri![]()
The changes are incremental and over time - no single action will blow anything up
especially for keywords which have to accumulate before affecting your APML
Sorry to clarify key concepts/words are used for the 'on these subjects' rating
Yes Yes Yes.... quilty as charged... we still have to have the great debate over this one ....
hehe
Its all good - it explains why your feedback is so fantastic ![]()
chris
I misse da version or two due to computer problems so I cannot speak as for if the display bug is new
let m get you the OPML error message really quick
ok - we may need to borrow your OPML file JC if you don't mind - happy if you dont feel comfortable sending it though. If you don't mind, please send it to me at chris@particls.com
Failed to load OPML file - Can not extract feeds from OPML file
will send it now
I was promised our new OPML importer would be able to import feed fragments from the moon during the day
heads wil have to roll![]()
sent
Thanks mate
keep annoying => it displays the same error every time after start -> then quit.
I can't do anything..
@Szabi - It's very strange that the error is still appearing after you cleared your APPDATA directory. What is the error you are getting exactly?
@Szabi - Hi, I'm one of the Particls devs... we've been trying to work out what your problem is, and we suspect it is to do with your regional settings (you seem to use a comma in numbers instead of a period). So, to get you going again, you should be able to open up the .apml file with a text editor, and change any number containing a period to have a comma instead.
@Paul: Thanks
I didn't really think that would cause the problem... My Vista is english, but the regional settings are hungarian - and this is why Particls didn't work on my notebook either, because (a hungarian) Windows XP is running on that... I really appreciate your help! Thanks thanks thanks
Particls is running now, I've just added a few words to the watch list, and I hope that the "Waiting for content" text will go away soon
Oh and I've just spotted another bug. The situation is the same as I explained above (Particls is running, watchwords added, waiting for content...). When I *right* click on the bar, I get this error message:
The details are:
See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

Oh, and for further studies: my first problem was at this part of the .apml file:
<Applications>
<Application Name="Particls">
<OutputThresholds Key="newsticker" NotUnder="-0,6" NotOver="1" Enabled="Yes" />
<OutputThresholds Key="pop-up alerts" NotUnder="0,2" NotOver="1" Enabled="Yes" />
<OutputThresholds Key="pebbles" NotUnder="0,4" NotOver="1" Enabled="No" />
</Application>
</Applications>
- the NotUnder params were in bad format ( "." instead of "," )
update: Particls IS definitely working
)
Commas in your numbers - that explains a few things
