    Hello!

I see the articles in my sidebar, which was automatically discovered, and I understand that those articles are not what I was looking for, I right click on an article and choose to remove the source of information. Here comes the question: how do I know if the source was actually removed? And if it was removed, why articles from that source stay in sidebar? It would be really nice to remove all articles at the same time as the source was removed.

To test that issue, try to put java into the word list - Particls will find you a lot of news about Indonesia. :o)

    Thanks!

    Aleksey

Semantics again... I couldn't agree more:)

I'm fine about semantics - I just remove java for now, but its a pain to remove all about Indonesia from my sidebar one article at a time...:(

And marking article as read is pain as well. Is there a way to put the red X icon next to each article in sidebar. For example into place of the bullet, which is before each article. (That bullet just eats space now)

This just proves that Lisp is better than Java, right?

Yes, the X icon could be useful, although I think it would be even better to be able to delete all items from the visible part of the sidebar at once. And of course filtering garbage needs to improve too.

Ok, then checkbox next to each item Wink

What about confirmation message that specific source was removed/marked as inappropriate?

    1. The sidebar is user unfriendly as Le Chat already mentions: it's a pain to remove an article. Why not simply have tiny cross mark next to each particle so one can delete unrelevant posts quickly? (is this action btw captured and then used intelligently?)

    2. Mark Source as read? Ahum: http://www.particls.com/blog/2007/01/dave-winer-are-you-paying-attention.html

And what does "Mark Source as read" do anyways? Does it remove that resource from my list, or silence it for say an hour, or...?

Hi guys - removing the source 'Particls' is currently not supported - but we have ideas for improving this

Once the source is removed properly the items do infact disapear right away

Mark source as read just marks all the items as read - when the source gets new items they will come through normally

Moving the 'x' to the sidebar itself instead of just the more info panel is also a great idea and we are investing this as well

The issue of Java vs. Indonesia is also being dealt with

All great feedback - keep it coming!

One of the other ways to assist with getting the content right would be to add Java as a watchword, and Indonesia as a blacklist item. This should help target the information you're after more closely.

I guess that some some of the words must have blacklist attached to them. When, for example, I have interest in the general news, and something major happened in Indonesia, I don't want to miss it because of my interest in the Java language related news, which has Indonesia blacklisted.

Another way to resolve that issue could be the way to apply different watchwords to the different information sources.

Or to have a probability threshold on the source: if the source is known to be about programming language - let some Indonesia related news to slip from that source.

You would not neccessarily miss out on Indonesia news though Le Chat - it would just dampen the effect - Highly important/urgent news about Indonesia would still come through - particularly if it relates to your other watch words

The black list is not a blocker
