  Help me choose a new camera

  I like Canon's point and shoot range, and the software from them is better than the equivalent from Nikon, IMHO.  Take a look at this site (in USA).  I've bought a lot of gear from them over the years.

  Rainbow

  This full rainbow was over my house today after the rain storm.  Pretty heavy rain today for October.  Shot with my cellphone.  At 2MP is has more resolution that the second digital camera I bought 7 years ago.

  Broken Lens

  The front element fell out?  Kinda hard to do,as there should be a retaining ring that holds it in.  I'd take it to Canon for repair.

  New Digital Camera

  Probably won't get a new one for $A 1K.  Both the Canon and Nikon (d40X, d80 are the newest 'consumer' ones) are about $ A 1400.  Best to buy in the States from bhphotovideo in NYC.  Ship it out of state and there's no sales tax.

  You may also want to try ebay, specifically Cameta Camera's store, as they sell factory refurbs.  I got my D70s there last year for $ US 600 with the standard 18-55MM lens, and I've bought an N65 film camera from them as well.  Both indistingisable from new, in function and appearance.
