Pinko Marketing at its best...
Niall Quinn has always been a good guy.
I think the key lesson here is that sometimes it's the personality and values of key people in an organisation that impact how pinko they are.

Is Tangler strangling Pinko Group activity?
I think it is a shame, and I hope Tara can get it moving again either in Google or in Tangler when we go public.
Two things that come to mind for me are;
1. Tangler is in beta. Pinko decided to try Tangler even though it was early. That's the kind of people in Pinko and I'm grateful for them for trying it. Reality is that Tangler being private and still making big steps with features and performance is a barrier to use that makes it tough on a young group.
2. All groups need drivers. This one might be controversial, but I don't think that within Tangler or in Google groups that there was enough work done on posting fresh topics and more discussion fodder. This could be due to confusion about where to post, but there just wasn't enough kindling to keep this fire going. A lot of this is my fault since I was the one who suggested trying Tangler, so I should have taken responsibility for keeping the energy up - for that I apologise.
Either way, I think Pinko is worth driving. Tangler Pinko is going to bubble along, and Tara is driving Pinko in Google and on the blog.
Keep the Pinko faith!
Cheers

I'm looking for good examples of people taking a RSS remix and applying it as a core part of the service in a way that 50%+ of the users can access easily.
I know Flickr has some examples of their API tools that they have integrated, but no combos with other services other than Google Maps.

Now I just got engaged, so this sort of advice has triple meaning for me....... An article on Creating Passionate Users about how companies treat their users over time;
http://headrush.typepad.com/creating_passionate_users/2007/02/too_many_compan.html
I agree that it's true. Most companies stop caring after the sale. I'm not sure if it is as prevalent on web apps since most of the service is provided by the app itself. Actually most companies will really love you if you pay them any money. Free services are a bit different.
Typepad are pretty good. Any tickets will be answered within 24 hours and they are really useful in their responses.
Other examples of 'doing it' well or badly?

Controversy of the Day: Users Want to Be Told What To Do
OK, this is intentionally trially to fuel debate, but I do think in some situations it has merit.
On a plane - yes, you want to be able to pick your movies. In your lounge room - sometimes you just want to be entertained.
Toothpaste - I would trade the 1,000 options for just a good, simple tooth paste.
Youtube - great to get links, but I dont' really browse. I would get a 'tube of the day' though.
My question - Is control and choice a boutique thing in terms of audience as well as product?

Wow, this is great stuff. Nice one Tara.
My friend Nath (about to become MR Nath when he get's married) just started a job helping investment banks understand the real risks of the change occuring in the world. Simple things like a 1% change in available water in western countries impacting growth, health, etc, etc.
I'm glad there are people like Nath, and you too Miss Rouge working on this stuff, but I feel it will be years before it's anything but the choir getting this tune.
