Guys, its May again and I am moving house on Wednesday next week and I find myself laid-off AGAIN. Almost 2 years to the day since last time (although a month AFTER moving house!).
If anyone can find any use for someone with a resume like THIS (other than the usual comical McDonalds and Street Sweeper jokes!) then please do let me know.
In return I will do all I can to help anyone in any way I can, whatever their problem!
Thanks
Paul
Good luck. Have you found something else?
Hey Paul,
Whilst I cant say that I can be of much help in the employment arena, I think posting your resume online is a great way to go. Recruiters might say not to do it, but that because deep down they know that if EVERYONE did this, they wouldnt be able to charge the excessive fee's they do.
Best of luck
I've found Linkedin very effective for publicizing my resume. It seems to generate a good lead about once a month with no action on my part -- so I'm sure it would be greater if you were serious about generating activity.
By all means you should also post your resume to all the online job boards.
I also started using Linkedin out of despair. Not a pinko site for sure. I feel very uncomfortable among all the seriousness and pathos of Linkedin.
As fir putting resumes online, I have really fallen in love with http://www.emurse.com - I don't have an official connection with them, I just can't stop recommending it. Fun and AJAX-y, but you can also keep multiple copies of your CV around for different specialties, you get an SEO-friendly subdomain URL, mine is ryanprice.emurse.com - and I've all but stopped sending people .doc and .pdf files, but you can export to 6 different formats.
They also do a little stats-tracking and help you figure out which keywords people are using to find you - SEO for your resume, who would have thought?
I get pinged by recruiters and curious parties at least once a month. Totally worth it, even if you're not searching right now - and they have a local job search tool.
