Case in point - when I got my new comp, I asked people for their opinion about Google docs. I wanted to know if they were good enough for me to NOT install Office.

Okay, think about it this way - when I bought this Dell, it came with Google desktop (I think that's what it's called) and toolbar preinstalled.

I hate evrything that's functional.

And then they upgrade it and add more stuffing-ups, but STILL provide essential functionality.

I went Vista when my XP died, too. But it was overdue, very old w/ CRT screen and trouble handling what I needed it for. Visat Home Premium is quite a step up.

And my mom's Mac crashed the other day... she brought it to the genious bar, but from what I get, they have no clue what the hell went wrong with it...

I got the Subaru serviced last Friday. Thinking though that I had learnt my lesson with these criminals in the past .. I specified when I dropped it off .. no wiper blades thanks. I know the tyres are near replacement and the brakes are getting done next week. I did need a replacement battery in the key that powers the remote central locking thingo. So I asked if they would put another one in and figured it would be 5 dollars and not much more. To my gob smacked amazement when I collected the itemised bill showed supply cost of the battery was 15 dollars and a few cents. Gee I thought. A gold one. But that's not where it ended. I was charged 11 dollars labour to fit the battery. That was when I hit the roof. Giving them 1 minute to do the job ... generous in my opinion ... the 11 dollars labour works out at $600/hour + GST. You ask why didn't I do it myself? Good question. We have a spare key. I took the top off that. Noted the common flat battery inside. You can generally get two of these for about 5 dollars. Put the top back on. 20 seconds. Fuck me gently with a chainsaw.

The clincher is I had a 10% discount voucher and presented it when I got the bill. Apparently you have to inform them before the service if you intend to use a discount voucher. As well as the obvious ... I suspect this is so that, instead of the standard service, they give you the miserable bastard service. Fuckwits. Car is out of warranty now. Never going back.
