Hi, I just stumbled on this group and tried out Prism. Works great for Java enabled websites, but it doesn't support ActiveX apparently. Is that going to be coming?
I think ActiveX is a plugin for Firefox while Java is probably installed in Prism by default. My guess is that they simply haven't added support for it. Doesn't look like there's any talk of adding ActiveX support in the forums.
ActiveX is a Microsoft tool that Firefox cannot even do still. There are hacks, but not a true extension, at least not that I found. I was just hoping that Prism might support it.
Any plugin that Firefox has installed should also work for Prism. I have yet to try Prism on Windows but the way plugins are found and used are the same. Take a look at this page - http://developer.mozilla.org/en/docs/Gecko_Plugin_API_Reference:Plug-in_Basics#How_Gecko_Finds_Plug-ins
I did try Java as well. For Mac, it will work as long as the proper plugin files are located in Library/Internet Plug-ins folder. In particular, MRJPlugin.plugin, JavaEmbeddingPlugin.bundle, JavaPluginCocoa.bundle, Java Applet.plugin and Java Applet Plugin Enabler. See this page too - http://javaplugin.sourceforge.net/
Java working in Prism was important for me as I want to force a client to use a web app that has an integrated Java FTP applet.
Java is also releasing a new update which supposedly has several enahncements and fixes that much imporve the Java Browser Plugin.
ActiveX will not wok unless the Gecko Engine is modified to handle it. I doubt that will happen anytime soon.
You could make a .webapp with the uri as about:plugins and this will show you all the plugins that Prism has found. Here is one I made that you can download - http://prismspectrum.com/miscel/about_plugins.webapp
Thanks for all the info

Prims is based on FF3, so if it works on FF3, it might work in Prism when it have reached 1.0.
Prism is not technically "based on FF3" but more accurately is based on XULRunner. Prism is separate and does not depend on any other software to be installed.
I know, but partially. It's still very much Gecko in it, and much of the rendering code are related to FF3. At least as far as I know.
