I think Prism is great with almost all my Google Apps, but I want to know if any website actually integrates into Prism. Extra buttons, or bookmarklets, stylings... you know. Would be great.![]()
Prior to the rename and official Mozilla Labs Project announcement, Prism was Webrunner and was not widely known about and is a new project that I believe began in the spring.
Beyond changing the chrome/HostUI via css stylesheets and javascript as outlined on the prism wiki, which is the limitation right now, support for Prism extensions will probably be added and this can tap into deeper customizations like you see with Firefox.
I created the bookmarklet here - http://prismspectrum.com/bookmarklet/ and this could be extended to be used in different ways... I will be adding support for custom sidebar content soon. Also plan ti provide a version that binds to a specific site so a site owner could offer their visitors a way to make a prism app of their site along with pre-defined configuration and styles.
Cool, I've seen that and it is a great proof of concept! This is all to exciting for me, getting these apps to the desktop and all!
Yeah it is a very interesting space to follow. It's inevitable of course... the hybrid web/desktop experience. For as long as the conversation has been going on... and various technologies over the years going back to the nineties.... it IS still in its infancy. The next few years will produce big advancements.
Also, a reminder with the bookmarklet.... it is truly for experimental purposes... just as using Prism itself is. I added sidebar content support last night.
Wow, prism seems to be a brilliant idea.
It'll be great if web / webapp designers can create specific style for people using prism to make navigation etc. a lot easier.
prism handles css to skin apps just like the stylish firefox plugin. javascript is used to customize some elements of the host UI (chrome). and of course the web application itself can be designed in any way and provide navigation.
cool.![]()
I'm not using Prism that much right now, but I'll probably start using it a bit more when the next version is released.
