Last Saturday I played a bit with my pxcream account and I have few comments about it:

       - I thought that the uploading process was a bit long (actually it took me over 3hours to upload 36 pictures)

       - The publishing process is also a bit long. The 8 steps thing might be annoying for frequent uploads. Once all my pictures will be published I will upload most probably a picture a week, so it's not a big deal for me.

        - I have issues with the color profile. We talked about it in the past, firefox cannot read the color profiles like safari does. I used to take a screenshot of my lightroom window and upload th png on my photoblog. The png had the right colors. In order to upload a picture on pxcream it needs to be high res, so the screenshot trick doesn't work (unless you have a 30" monitor I guess). Anyway, here is the same picture on my pixelpost photoblog and on my pxcream photoblog as you can see the colors on the pxcream page really fade.

       - The pictures on the blog look pixelated, or aliased as you want. Like a picture constrained in a small image block on an html page.
But maybe I missed something. Again, you can see the difference on the link above between my pixelpost and my pxcream. The white and yellow lanes are a bit funky on the pxcream.

       - I don't understand why you need to click on the right side on the picture to go backward and left side to go forward. The western reading direction is from left to right. Here it gets a bit confusing unless you are Japanese:)

Now the good aspect of it:

       - The interface is intuitive, it took me few seconds to figure it out and upload my first picture.

       - I like the design too, simple and classy, good job.

       - The cc choice when you publish a picture is a cool feature.

       - The interface for visitors (the photoblog page not the admin part) is very friendly too.

I'll try to play a bit more with it today.

    Peace.

    Ben.

    Hi Ben,

Thanks for your feedback, I'll try to answer to every point:

    - Uploading process time depends mostly on your connection speed. It's designed so that you can actually do something else when your pictures are uploaded. We are working on improving the image processing time and it will definitely be improve before going to production mode (afer beta).

    - A batch processing will be added so that large amount of (similar (events...)) pictures could be processed at the same time. But I have to emphases here the fact that pxCream goal is to advantage quality over quantity. The average user (target) is a photoblogger that doesn't upload massive amount of pictures, but more 1 picture / day or so.

    - The color profile issue is something I encounter too. The solution I found was to use the "save for web" option in Photoshop (making sure that the ICC box is checked). Than colors are safe and this no matter the internet browser used. Bad side is that the meta data are lost (camera EXIF information). It's a bug within Photoshop and I hope it will be fix one day... Anyway, it is planned to develop a desktop software (based on Adobe AIR technology) that will take care of the picture upload/process and hopefully handle the color profile actual issue.

    - Re: The aliased look. I don't see such difference when looking at your links. Maybe it comes from the fact that we are not seeing the same version (def) of the pic. I'm using a macbook pro 15" at the moment and it's the S5 (you can find that looking at the source code, the last letters of the picture file name) version of the picture that is shown to me. What do you have on your side?

    - You make a point with the navigation thing. I will reverse it (I have the funny feeling that I already've been reversing it a few times...;) )

    Thanks again for your feedback.
