  • Randomised Ranting about stuff!

Okay - I'm, getting so fed up with Government organisations.  I've been trying to move into local governemt with my employment for the batter part of fice years and having no success, so I'm now looking at Commonwealth government.  I've now been waiting for three week for them to say that I have a job.  COME ON YOU BASTARDS. GIVE ME A MOTHER LOVING JOB OR I'LL MOTHER LOVING COME OVER THERE AND... Puppy's head explodes

  • Telemarketing...

Used to work in call centres for about 6 years.  First job was sending out raffle ticket books to people to get them to sell them for charity.  I hated the job there and lasted only about 3 months.  My usual script would be: "Hello Mr Jones, this is PuppyOnThe calling from Kids on the Streets foundation.  I'm just calling to ask if you would like to help out kids from underprivileged backgrounds."  (note I'd never use my last name - I'm not stupid) It was a nasty question because first it wasn't a question, but it forced a response, and if people said "no" then you could say "You don't want to help underprivileged kids?"

Finance companies are the best.  If they're selling a product and not just getting you to go to a seminar, they must read out all the terms and conditions of the product upon request.  A friend of mine once asked a girl "I'm really interested and would like to know all the terms and conditions, but I'm in the middle of cooking dinner.  I'm just going to put you on speakerphone while you're reading them."  Apparently she was still reading them out ten minutes later to an empty room.

  • Computer Rage in 5......4........3.......*KABOOOOM!!*

At the moment I'm on Computer #1, which does not have a working sound card, and is running Firefox as the main browser (which I'm not happy with after v2.x - might change back to Opera).  As long as I don't want to hear anything on it, and I don't want it to take to one of my mobile phones (I have 5 in my household) all is good (but slow).

Computer #2 however seems to not like me much any more. Power supply on it has died (I think) as I turned it off in April, managed to turn it on twice since then for about three hours and it just turned itself off.  Wouldn't be an issue as I don't really use it, except that it is has a few earlier episodes of life on mars UK and ashes to ashes that I want to watch again, and it's the one that I was using to play music.

Nearly forgot computer #3.  My old XT that's in the shed and in pieces.  Still has the original Tetris and Digdug.

  • Programming woes.

My variables usually run along the lines of theNumberOfTimesThatINeedToGoThroughThatLoop, or theInputThatWillDetermineTheCharactersNextMove.  Takes a lot longer to type the first time but much more fun when you have to debug, and usually end up Ctrl+V for it going forward.  Or Ctrl+H for a bunch of code that I steal from elsewhere.

Admittedly I've never been employed as a programmer, so I doubt that I'd get a promotion.
