So I wakes up today, heads for me coffee... pours the milk in, and it's GONE BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's the third time in 2 weeks half the bottle of milk has gone bad way before the due date... So I haven't had my usual yummy morning cuppa... and dek is NOT HAPPY!

What's up with the milk??? Grrrrrrrrrrr

I used to have the same problem, (living alone) I'd get a 2 litre bottle of milk, and after a couple of days it would have gone off (only sometimes though).

A friend who worked in the industry told me that sometimes the milk is delivered to the shops in the early hours of the morming and can be left sitting around for hours without refrigeration. (sometimes even in the early morning sun). Hence it's shelf life can be considerably reduced.

I have overcome the problem by buying UHT (long life) milk in 1 litre cartons, (I get about 6 or 8 at a time) I have two in the fridge at a time, and as I use one I put another one in.

The result is: 1. No bad milk.   2. I never run out of milk.  3. It keeps for months without refrigeration.  4. No last minute rush to the shop for milk.

Find a brand you like and your problem is solved.  (I have found 'Devondale' to be to my liking) 

hmmmm.... interesting.... So there's essentiallyno way to know what I'm getting eh?

I usu buy a 3 litre, and it lasts me a week. Doesn't go bad usu...

I'm not sure abt UHT.... I tried some a while ago, and I didn't like the taste and consistency. Makes good yoghurt tho

 Don't even like the 'Dairy Farmer's' brand... it's got an odd taste and smell to it...

There... you now  know all abt me milk preferences :P 

i miss nescafe blend 43....with nice aussie fresh milk...SIGHHHH

Rum and milk is nice, or if you like your coffee try it with a nip of rum or whisky, or even brandy. 

 Coffee with a nip of 'Drambuie' is especially nice. (albeit a bit decadent)

 'Drambuie' is a scotch whisky liqueur, another very similar one (some say it's better) is 'Glayva'. (pronounced "glay-vah")    $35-$45, per bottle (hence decadence)  hahaha.

Rum and milk was an old bedtime favourite with insomniac's, and is yummy as well.   People with stomach trouble who could not tolerate raw spirits also found thar 'Rum and Milk' was the way to go.

Well don't drink Soy milk, it can give you breast cancer and make you impotent haha (Well so say SOME scientists ..) But my vegan friend says that is only the GM stuff

I have also had that milk problem and have been meaning to try the UHT thing - just so that I can always have a coffee, thereby avoiding a day of tantrums and upsets. I think it's because  it's left outside. My local supermarket was renovating recently and it happened often. Most annoying.

I also used to work in a shop and the milk would be delivered before we arrived. It just sat outside. Nasty when you think about it. It was in Perth too, noted for its rather harsh climate...

yeah, I see milk sitting outside all the time... It's amazing they do that with something so perishable...

I also started drinking goats milk when we came back from NL. They have it everywhere over there and it is quite mild tasting. It's meant to be easier to digest. But I found the strength of taste varied considerably from carton to carton. It put me off. Sometimes I felt like I was drinking milk from a smelly old mountain goat - really strong. I wondered why it varied so much. Same brand. Same supermarket.

Bah! It's the season of spoilt milk again!!!

i have started drinking black coffee.....i know its way too acidic but it does wonders for my early morning jolts that i need at work.

I couldn't take that....

But the cafe near our office makes great strong coffee. It's the first thing I think of when I wake up.

Wonder if I can kidnap the barista and take her home....

I'm now up to 4-5 double esp's/day.

Whoa... that's hard core dude...

I usually have one double first up, then 2 x doubles in one cup and cruise on that for an hour at 10am and again at about 3pm. I think when put that way it looks less like the substance abuse problem that it is.

I've stopped having the one in the morning, at home. So it's one at 10ish and one at 3ish

Wish I could have more. Would love one right now in fact. But there's thing called sleep, without which I get very cranky

i will never understand ppl who say coffee tastes bad....

Those ppl worry me... might be some defect in their taste buds
