Intro:
On this episode of Read/WriteTalk I sit down with John Lilly, the new CEO of Mozilla Corp. John has been at Mozilla since 2005, but recently was promoted from COO to take over as CEO. John published a very thoughtful post announcing his new role. In the interview we review both the lessons he’s learned at Mozilla and his plans for the organization in the future. I also think many of the leaders at DataPortability.org will find his comments quite interesting.
At 4.04 he talks about Kiva which rocks. I put $50 in and had it earned back really quickly. Such a good system.
Is Mozilla non-profit though?
I thought they made millions out of the search box from firefox?

$72 million is pretty good for non-profit....
$72M man, tha'ts heaps. I'm not sure many people know that.
Good talk though. I think Mozilla are pretty well grounded.
Do you think they should work on an operating system?
Why an OS? Apart from Firefox, what other goodness has Mozilla produced? I haven't heard as good things about Thunderbird.
