(thought I'd break it up instead of posting everything in one topic)

I find the Homepage a bit overwhelming. Many many links, and lots of red.

Also, that is only 1/2 the page!
I just think that the homepage contains a lot of information right now. I think a different layout might help, like putting the tagcloud in the sidebar for example.

On the read advice page, the time formatting is very inconsistent

I was on the photos page, and the voting thingy confused me....

I was looking for a 'Vote' or next button, which would register my vote. So basically I don't know if  my vote counts or not

...and look at all that RED!  Good gobbely goo, Fred.

    2007-06-19 08:31:31.0

What's wrong with red? I have no problem with red

    2007-06-19 11:52:47.0

I do think its overkill on the red.... esp with so many red links on the page

    2007-06-19 17:00:59.0

I actually don't know about that. I always swore red was the worst colour possible on the web, and that designers who used red on the web were simply print designers who hadn't yet learnt the rules. But things have changed. The new design trends riding on the back of web 2.0 seem to be all about breaking established rules ie. large fonts, previously taboo colours etc., and based on its own merits I think it sits well with the site, kind of gives it a raw treesap feel. Perhaps Refurber Red will be the next Blogger Orange or TechCrunch Green ...

I think the issue that everyone is picking up on is not so much the red itself, but more the contrast against the red. In the bar above the black text struggles to stand out from the red bar, and would be easier to read if it was white (in the same way that the text in almost every other location against the red is white). eg. the login button on the landing page

    2007-06-19 17:14:52.0

I had no idea about not using red on sites.....

All I know is that the main page is too busy, yet blurry and mashed up (terrible describing I know, but its what I feel when I see it)

all good suggestions guys - keep it up:)

    2007-06-19 17:26:43.0

really busy - i will be back in a few days time

    2007-06-19 17:26:50.0

yep, my same thoughts on the red, although I found there is a major site using red, so wanted to see how this color worked. Great feedback, shall get design to have a look:)

You've picked up a bug on the date thing - thanks

The photos thumbs thing, yep we know, we have been strategizing on the whole thumbs thing, but you've picked up a bug - the ajax should show u that your vote has been registered

I like the red as a basis and think if you made all the links a different colour it would provide a nice contrast. That is, leave the red buttons across the top of the home page, the red link through 'find advice' box and the red on the left hand sidebar. It's just the links that look terrifying as red!

I've got some things I changed up a bit with borders.  Some of the borders seem unnecessary

The images on the right are the originals btw

    2007-06-26 19:34:24.0

mmm.... yeah, I like it better without borders
