The triangle belongs to the guy who's in a band but has little talent, but is, most importantly, mates with the lead singer/songwriter, and he really should pick up after himself.

OK here's the thing, in crappy high school bands, especially, the guy who's best mates with the lead, but can't play a note, gets the triangle.

The answer however, is that between any three points there is always a triangle even when "collapsed" so, one assumes, it is Delaunay's triangle.
