    does this have a point?

One point - it's not a complicated puzzle by any stretch of the imagination, just a fair bit of guesswork and a little local knowledge (but very Google-able)

    News Flash

The end of the financial year has brought about a horrible turn of events for the Australian-English Language.  Due to the Global Financial Crisis there was an emergency sitting of cabinet last night as the expectations of a budget defecit spiralled out of control.  The Treasury Minister, The Honourable Wayne Swan MP, delivered an impassioned yet curtailed speech last night.

"The cost to this government and the Australian people in paper, data transmission and in time each year is staggering.  By removing what is effectively less than one fifth of the Alphabet, we are dramatically able to reduce the costs in all of these areas, potentially bringing Australia to on top in this current financial climate."

“A, E, I, O, and U, must all go.” he continued. “We are undecided as to Y as we are still not sure why it is considered a vowel.”

This was not without some dissent from within the Liberal ranks.  The Honourable Mark Butler MP, Minister for Port Adelaide, said "This is an unfair and biased tax and will hit my constituents harder than most."  However, Mr Chris Trevor MP, Member for Flynn, simply said "Whatever."

    I protest!!

A and E HAVE to stay! They can have j and q in their place.

Hmmm, just re-reading the rules of Tangler puzzles forum in relationship to Google - "While you may not use Google for the purposes of finding out the answer to a puzzle directly, for the purposes of filling in gaps in general knowledge that pertain to the outcome of aforementioned puzzles is allowable but only under these conditions:

    1. Your handle is relating to both an animal and an electrical device"

    Sorry, seems you were right...

While I've been sick and not Tangling, Bard has been almost correct, with the exception of a incorrect spelling of deficit.  As his spelling makes it also look like the word "defecate" and he made me laugh, I'm letting him get away with it.

    +1 to Bard

Well, the budget is sh*t right now, so I guess it's appropriate.
