I've (yet again) gone through the whole topic attempting to count up all the points, but what I've come up doesn't match with any account of the current score, a lot of people must have gotten points that aren't directly mentioned in the otpics, or that I missed as I skimmed my way through the topic list

I've decided to err on the side of pointgiving and make all scores equal to the highest estimate of what they should be, the sources being the list as displayed now (but about to be changed), dek's questioned scores that are higher than listed, and the overall too-low (or in some cases too high) list I've just compiled from going through the topic

Someone will probably end up with more points than they're due, but unless you can prove it I'm not going through the topic again (ever, ok)

Ok, everything is now up to date. Any riddles solved or points awarded as of now must be posted in this topic or they don't count (unless I happen to be in that topic when the point is won and post to say so)

I would update the board from canada (briefly online) but the edit box seems a little weird, possibly caused by this computer running Vista...

It seems to have 2 vertical scroll bars, one inside of and partially hidden under the other, but the inside one is what seems to have the most "reach" - the outside one won't scroll the whole box

Ok, now I'm back, I've gone through from the last time I posted with a notepad window opened and counting up all the +1s (thank you for your concern but I don't mind having it all dumped on me )

Assuming there are no duplicates in amongst that then the board will be back up to date in a few moments

oh, and whoever it was asked about irrational numbers, if you can tell me how to type it then I can put it on the board, just don't expect me to know how to order the rankings afterwards (does 4+pi beat 6+root 2 or does it come under 5+e? and etc)

Short answer: no 

and with that, the scoreboard reaches a new high of 40 entries, significant only because of our decimalised system, but meh, any excuse for a quick WOO!

I'd also like to gripe in the vague direction of anyone with access to Tangler's code that the edit box no longer accurately reflects the appearance of the resulting text - all my careful tabbing (using the space bar instead of actual tabs) to line up the scores, when put into the edit box, looks like its all over the place, whilst its ok for those already on the board since I can just cut and paste their whole line when I need to move them, new entries mean I have to compare against someone with the same length of name to see where I should put their score, I'm guessing the kerning or the space occupied by each letter or the size of a space changes between the edit box and the display since people with longer names have proportionally less space before the numbers

Why no mention of the extra point not credited to "Monty" before? Now its just complicated all over the place.

How about I give you the extra point drdec just awarded, you move into 2nd place and we ignore the other missing point? (unless the extra point for Monty was very recent and was mentioned in this topic, I'm not going through all the topics again)

waitasec.. is the missing point the one that dek awarded immediately before you called attention to the 2 different names? 'cause I'm not sure if I added that yet, and by extension not sure if WarMech got his point

leetonicon has his point, so those are the only 2 that might not have been added

I think Warmech has his point - since the "SK's away but here's an update" post from dek he seems to have been credited with all new points

I count 8 points awarded to Monty/Sir Montague since that intermediate update by dek, and and that point only Monty was on the scoreboard (did you change name?) and had 9. Plus drdec's one just now = 18

This seems like fun, altough it's not very active right now...

It kinda petered out from a lack of good riddles to solve - I think everyone already used the ones they know, and inventing a riddle is hard.

Yeah... and it's so hard to find a good riddle. Everyone in here is too smart! My riddles don't remain unsolved for more than an hour

I started one that no-one was able to get, eventually I had to explain it. Look down the list for something about blue eyes (I forget exactly what I called it) if you want to see.

Seriously though, if you're honestly missing points, just point out where you were awarded them and I'll put them up.

The edits are starting to take a while to send through... so many names on the board that resending it every time is getting weighty.

Is there any way to start numbering from half way through a series? If there is I could edit the message I posted immediately after the first version of the board to split it into 2 sections and speed up additions a little.

you could start a new scoreboard thread  if that would help. could then split list into two groups for the regular scorers and occasional ones underneath

Dek, currently the size of the post with the scoreboard in takes a while to send every time I update it because its gotten so darn big, but if I were to split it into 2 posts the numbering would start over from 1 in the second half, I was asking if there was any way to start numbering from a number other than 1.

So post 1 has numbers 1 to 20, post 2 starts numbering at 21.

Ah....

I suggest listing them all 1-20++ and then just copy and paste into 2 posts?

We really should start a new topic too. This one is getting slow.

I was gonna do the 2 post thing, but then realised you won't be able to edit it

Could split it off into 2 "divisions"... so the person in place 21  (currently grim) gets to say they're top of division 2  

Or maybe instead of a hardline number of people in each section, have a lower board for people with 1 or 2 points, and a higher board for people with 3+ (those numbers achieve a roughly 50:50 split, could be adjusted later if needs be)

I think I'll set that up now. If you ninja my topic while I'm copying and pasting then I won't be pleased
