If you don't mind paying some cash, screencasts are a killer way to learn fast. I find reading big thick manuals, that while searchable, are a bit of a pain. Peepcode for paid casts. Here are some good free screencasts at railscasts . Of course you have to pick up a copy of Agile Web Development with Rails, the book by Dave Thomas and DHH to decorate your desktop and fill your brain with rails-ness.
I love the Peepcode Screencasts, much better than reading the Agile book. $9 an episode isn't much money, the dollar is at rock bottom at the moment so it's pretty cheap if you don't live in the united states![]()
Yes, I'm going to pick up the Peepcode screencast on RESTful Rails for this weekend. Which one did you check out? I'll let you know what I think.
I bought myself a pack of 10 subscription. I have nearly every one of the screencasts, I also bought the new PDF booklet, which is really great. It's basically a receipt book for Rails. It shows you things people often do the wrong way with Rails and then shows you how you should do it if you expect to have a website with thousands of visitors and needs to work under the load
And it's much better than the pragmatic programmers Rails Recipes book, they just show you how you can do things but they don't even show you the best way to do something.
Nice I'm going to check out the PDF booklet. I agree that peepcodes rock. I assume you are referring to this - http://peepcode.com/products/draft-rails-code-review-pdf
The link adder thingy in tangler isn't working - I keep getting "this plugin isn't loaded" when trying to add a link.
