  North v South

  I watched the Aust V Ireland game and it was close all the way through.

  Ireland sure have some big forwards.

  It was a scrappy game and Aust were lucky to get away with a win

  There was some individual brilliance from some of the Aussies(notably Loti Tukuri), but Aust lacked cohesion in attack, but came up with some amazing defense at times.

  I would say that Ireland blew the game, rather than Aust scored an impressive win.

  Not a really great start for new Aussie coach (Robbie Deans), but then again he is a Kiwi and was probably lost without the haka....

  Tri Nations & Bloody Slow Cup.

  Well the Tri Nations series between Aust, S Africa, & N Z is well under way, starting with a good win by S Africa over In Zid, followed by a win by Aust over the Saffies, and then a solid (34-19) win by Aust over the All Blicks on Sat night.

  Poor old K1W1's at times they looked like rabbits caught in the headlights, and not even the ref (who apparently sourced his rules from kiwi newspaper clippings) could save them.

  So the score in the Tri Nations series stands at.....

  Aust v Froggies.

  A bad few days for the Frogs in the Rugby Union world..

  As well as being beaten 56-8 by England in Toulouse, they were beaten 34-13 by Aust in Sydney last night.

  I dont know, Wales and Scotland would be my sentimental favourites, but the Frogs and the Poms are always hard to beat.

  Are the All Blacks really chokers??

  The extraordinary fact is the All Blacks have only won one World Cup title and that was the inaugural one in 1987. Since then they have only made one final, where they lost to South Africa in an emotional climax in Johannesburg.

  Time and time again the cliche 'look great on paper' has been applied to the Kiwis after they have beaten up - sometimes literally - every side in the intervening years between World Cups only to come up short at the sport's global showpiece.

  Choker is never a nice term to apply to anyone involved in sport but this is exactly what they have gained in the years since 1987 and this time there will be nowhere for them to hide.
