Well it looks like that it was just Scotland who managed a win against the Southern Hemisphere Teams.
Wales v SA
Aus vs Ireland
NZ vs England
Argentina vs Scotland
I'm a bit dissaponted about the Wales result but must admit I didn't expect any different.

The France vs England match at Toulouse was was Rugby League, not Union. Still, a win against the Frogs is a win to be enjoyed... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_league/7469021.stm

It's that time of year again when the Northern Hemisphere rugby fans get their hopes out and prepare themselves for whatever might happen. I reckon this year it will be a great series but, as ever, we'll see. For me, it kicks off tomorrow in Twickenham when my home team (Wales) battle it out against England. I reckon it will be close but I have an inkling that England will use the home advantage to pinch it.
France will be out to pull themselves up from the World Cup debacle and Italy will be desperate to build on their better game play they have been showing over the past couple of tournaments. Meanwhile Ireland are struggling a bit and Scotland look well prepared. Wales have a lot to do with a new manager and coach and England are, of course, riding high from their recovery in the World Cup.

Ok so it happened this last weekend. A good old rugby match I thought. Twickenham is always a good venue and despite the score-line it was very competitive. There are some who say that the Baa Baas have time expired but where else can you see an invitaion team of the worlds finest playing together...

Argentina can't get into Six-nations
The big stumbling block is that the professional Argentina players are all in teams of the Six Nations countries (France and England predominantly) and the IRB has rules about which countries the majority of players should play in. The problem for Argentina is that all their home teams are amature...

Does rugby need a rule overhaul?
A bit rich for a fellow Aussie (of the idiot who disallowed the only try of the match) to complain about no tries. Having said that the laws have changed over the years to accomodate the increased physical aspects of the game. Remove the need to win and earn money then it might go back to a more of a "purists" game of fast open play. To me, one of the worst things that happened was to increase the drop-kick score to 3 points. A try conversion should get 3 and a penalty/drop should get 1. You can then leave the rest of the laws as they are.

Oh well. Here we go. I wonder if the Springboks are going to be as amazed as the rest of us.
Amazed that England are actually in the final or -
Amazed when England beat them (maybe)...

I thought it might be a good idea to have a thread just for piss takes, wind-ups, rivalry and general yah-boo's to save cluttering the other threads with such items.
I'll start. England, while beating the USA, were pretty crappy. They kind of showed their age and if they get to the next stage some of the team will be needing zimmer frames to stand up.
As for France - Argentina. good on the Pumas I say. Although if history is anything to go by, I wouldn't rate the chances of the next team to play France but we'll see... *hopes like hell*
Canada started to give the "young-uns" of Wales a bit of a scare but skill and verve showed through in the end.
Japan had to be thrashed by Australia so no big deal there and Namibia gave Ireland a bit of a challenge towards the end.
Who else is playing...?

I was confident about a French win but now I am not so sure. The trouble with the English team is that they currently have two modes of play. Ordinary and Difficult. If they play in difficult mode they are not necessarily playing good rugby but they are difficult to beat and could win. In ordinary mode they swing from extremely bad to occaisionally difficult but they have the habit of being occaisionally difficult when the opponents are in a moment of bad play.
If the French are showing any signs of weakness their own crowd will rip them to pieces - and that won't help.

I don't think the World Cup is too long. I've not actually seen it in person or measured it or anything but it only looks like a couple of feet long at the most..
