the lock(if i remember right) was the seal on the portal up near the ling monistary. serath wants wisteria to unravel it so he can lead an army through and dominate eastens army to take over

i havent read the latest stuff and because the site is down im not positive, but ill do the best i can.
magic works buy writing out runes and putting some of your energy or "mana" into it to give it power and the desired effect yada yada. the more power you put into it, the stronger the effect, but also the greater physical drain, like when Wisteria put to much energy into her shield. as far as i know there are 3 ways of creating a magical effect. physically writing out the rune, drawing it with your will alone(faster but more complicate/dangerous) and using a magical item, like the bracelets or Rakams sword. again not sure what exactly happened but it sounds like she was either using magic by writing it out with her head, if she was a mage/warrior she might have the dicipline required, or she was using some random magic item. though it seems to me that for bigger effects theres some kind of movement required. like with the bracelets(as far as i remember) they only needed to have them on to be able to communicate. but for Rakams sword he needed to twist the sword just so to make the Shield appear. was there anything that she did repeatedly right before the spell activated?

I have a question. Is there a way you could have an "absorb" rune, but change it somehow to let you fuel another spell? For example, say someone tosses a fireball at you, could you "absorb" the magic from the runes, effectivly ending the fireball, and use that magic to make your own fireball? Or just cast a weaker spell? Or could you add that magic to whatever spell you were casting anyway to make it stronger?
