It seems the social network boom is starting to slow down. Should anyone sign up to a new social network without OpenID?

Are Mobile Networks a better place to "network" then Social Networks on the web?
Does anyone use a mobile device to actually find new people to network with or are you just taking your online friends from the web and using your mobile device to communicate with them? or vice versa?

Is using a Wiki a good form to build a social network?
I am totally tired of seeing Wiki's being labeled as social networks, they are collaborative forums people.
I understand people want to make money using there own site/wiki but most Wiki's I come across all have the same templates/layouts because they're built on top of another Wiki program. Please do me a favor before you build a wiki make sure there isn't a social network that already covers it.

Online Identity vs Personal Identity
Lets say you sign up on social networks using your websites name for example "Tangler" then you find out that someone has already got it.
What do you do?
Now let's say you sign up using your real name "Cesar Castro" and you find out someone else is using it as well.
How actively do you pursue protecting your online identity?

What is your top Social Media tool for networking
Ma.gnolia - is by far my number 1 tool for networking.
The reason I love using it is because I can share bookmarks, create and share a group, create discussions, mail members, linkroll my bookmarks and tags, login using OpenID, and distribute my bookmarks with RSS. Not to mention hold a personal profile on it as well.

The future of Social Media on Internet
To tell the truth I see a cross of social media and OS coming.
What I mean is social media networks and applications such as Ma.gnolia a
social bookmarking service coming off the web and onto the desktop
where you no longer having to go to each website to manage your account
but rather manage it from the Operating System offline.
I also see the Operating System becoming web centric where all OS software is ran from manufacturers web server vice from the hard drive.
