So we were talking on Pownce about what social apps you use after I said I was leaving Pownce. We mentioned that we use different apps for different things.

    I want to know more.

Tell us what you use, how often and why you use it.

    Twitter
1-2 times a week, or more if I'm in San Francisco as I turn on the SMS.
I use it to make quick public announcements and then I look at the list to see if anything interesting has been said recently. In San Francisco I use it to track what events everyone is going to.

    Facebook
    Nearly everyday.
Highlight pics, scrabble, reading news alerts. I'm in groups but don't use them. I like the fleeting apps like Compare. iLike challenge is fun. Mainly use this because my non-tech friends use it. I get so much from my tech friends (overdose on them) so Facebook is good.

    Flickr
As needed, but daily for Skitch and 1-2 a week for photos.
Post bulk pics, upload Skitch screenshots and have a few friends.

    Typepad Blog
    1-2 a week.
    Replaced by my Tangle.

    Plazes
    Just started today
    We'll see.

    Upcoming
    2-3 times per month.
Browsing events when I'm coming to town (San Francisco), maybe in Australia too.

    Linkedin
    2-3 times per month.
Mainly to add friends:) Sometimes to update my resume. Rarely to look for leads (but maybe I should)

    YouTube
2-3 times a month as a video uploader.
I do the direct to Youtube from webcam vids. Some uploading. No social, May comment.

    LastFM
    1-2 times a month if I'm lucky.
    Browse when bored.

    Tangler
    8-28 times a day
It's a part of my job but I do like being able to 'dabble' in multiple subject areas easily. I like asking questions and seeing where it will go.

    That's about all!

Pownce for bouncing ideas, points of view and thoughts off a large audience very quickly. - All day every day

Tangler for more in depth discussions and real-time networking (due primarily to a forum-like way of categorizing those discussions and chats). - All day every day

Facebook or LinkedIn for networking. I'm still undecided on this and rather than putting in a lot of time on either am piggybacking others accounts in order to work out which holds the most value for me personally.

GMail might seem old school. It's email after all, but I still communicate socially through email a hell of a lot. - All day every day.

btw. I have left off any sites I am personally involved with the development of...

    Facebook for networking

    Pownce for micro-blogging
    Tangler for heavier discussions

Those are a few that I actually use, but I have several accounts elsewhere.  I am a web2.0 enthusiast so I like to test everything out.  I don't recommend doing that, though, it's very time consuming and gets hard on the brain.

    Hmm, that's interesting.

I've been blogging for a while now, but am starting to explore some of the other social tools out there, starting with Tangler (obviously) and I'm looking at trying out Pownce tonight if nothing else but to become one of Richie's ever-growing list of friends - do you count as a friend if you're his wife?:)

I've never tried Twitter but was turned off a bit when Richie had the SMS alerts going off day and night - drove me crazy!:)
