  Random Thoughts#6: Express Yourselves (OFF TOPIC SUFF) NEW THREAD!

  I was a voracious reader. My whole family were avid readers. We had piles of books all over the house. When I hit my teens, I used to ride my bike several miles to the library every Saturday and get 10 books from the science fiction, mystery, or science sections of the library. Then I would read all night. I read anything they had on the shelves.

  When I was in third grade I used to get shooed over to the children's books, but I was reading at adult level and finally convinced them I didn't need children's books. Every so often a librarian who didn't know me was there and I have to go through convincing her all over again.

  My daughter concerned me for a while since she didn't have the reading bug. She was reading at adult level in newspapers and magazined, but not engrossed in reading as I and my family had been. I finally figured out why she would only read newspapers and magazines. She had ADHD and it was hard for her to sit still long enough to read novels.  So I gave her H. G. Wells, who had a lot of interesting short stories and novellas, and then she got the reading bug.

  I have a lot of difficulty reading now due to my neurological problems. My eyes don't focus and they jump around. Kindle helps, but it is still difficult for me. So now I have a huge audiobook library.

  True Blood Season 5 Spoilers

  They could have her back in dreams, flashbacks, etc. Or as a ghost. I guess they'll think it's ironic for her to become a vamp. But she'll need a personality transplant for me to be able to tolerate watching her.

  Book #12: "Deadlocked" - Chapter 2

  Pam's warning Sookie about the Freyda situation. The Jake Purifoy stuff makes me wonder if Andre is still alive. Otherwise, I can't imagine what difference it would be for Purifoy to be around at all, unless he somehow blames Sookie for Hadley turning him. The dead person who is alive is male, otherwise I'd still bet on it being SA. That would throw an appropriate wrench into a lot of stuff for FDC. Maybe, the deadman reference is for Jake, but that doesn't preclude SA being alive.

  I think it does have to do with Eric being locked into the marriage contract. And it leaves him at an impass (deadlock) with Sookie.

  Other Book Recommendations 2

  Audible had a half-price sale and I got Darkfever. I feel ambivalent about it because I don't like her writing style. But I guess it intrigued me enought to get the next three audiobooks. There's something distancing about her style, so I have trouble staying in the story. I recently went nuts and got 12 credits at once (instead of my usualy 2 per month). I had a lot of books I had been meaning to buy, so I still had a few to spare on the whole series. I did this some time last year and got 24 credits at once, and I filled my backlog of classic stories, like Scarlett Pimpernel, Gone with the Wind, and the entire The Three Muskateers series... and others.

  I will probably try the Night Huntress series next. I'm really a SciFi (that's SF to the cognizati) reader (and writer) at heart, so I tread lightly into fantasy series. I tend not to like fae stories, so that might be influencing my feelings about the Fever series. Even though I love the Harry Dresden series, I only seem to tolerate the fae stories. And unfortunately it seems the future Dresden books will be heavily fae.

  Ok, why do I dislike fae stories? There are all these arcane rules and forbidden actions. And there are endless complex monsters and powers that can be pulled out of a hat as a literary crutch.

  CH Q & A's, Interviews, etc... THREAD 3

  I sometimes worry that the ending will be Sookie alone on her own. I actually think that will be a cop out to avoid having Sookie make a choice. It has some elements I can see, in that Sookie learns to stand on her own. But it also seems somewhat barren. Sookie deserves to be in a loving relationship. If she goes off on her own, the fact that CH has said that Sookie won't have children of her own implies that she never marries or has longterm love. Besides CH has made a point about how Eric had to marry Sookie to protect her from Felipe de Castro. I suppose Eric could end up king and declare Sookie off limits to other vamps, even if they aren't together anymore. But what a letdown. It has elements of a reverse Rhett and Scarlett ending. With Sookie being the one to walk off.

  I know I've seen quotes from CH saying she knows who Sookie will end up with. But more recently I've only seen ones that state that she knows how the series will end. Does anyone know of a recent quote about who Sookie ends up with?

  Oh I took it to mean that CH thought he was Saint Sam, much like TB Saint Bill. It was one of the things that got me worrying about what CH intended for HEA. Sam's shit just doesn't stink.

  Guys, I'm going to be a crabby bitch. Sorry in advance. I love all of you, so please don't hate me too much. I think you've all been having a lot of fun with the fantasy AS encounters. Frankly, I have all my own very active fantasies about him. I'd like to suggest you start a thread about him solely for the fantasy and role-playing. Of course, feel free to comment, lust, and drool about him in this thread over pictures, news, and gossip that gets posted. I certainly intend to.

  The reason why I am asking is that it's hard to sort out the real news. Part of this is due to my own vision problems since I can't skim anymore. I used to be a very effective skimmer, but now the eye movement makes me nauseated. Also, it does clog up the thread a bit. I come here and see 50 postings, and I think oh there's something new about Alex, but then it's just the fun stuff you've been posting about your fantasy encounters.

  Again, sorry to be such a crabby bitch.
