I don't get HBO so went searching for clips of True Blood on You Tube - and there are lots of them, as I'm sure that you have already discovered! And lots of fanvids, but as a Sookie/Eric supporter I wanted to point this one out - I think that the creator has done a great job of pulling out clips to highlight Eric's interest in Sookie (the way that he's talking to Bill but looking at Sookie when they go to Merlotte's; and the the way he looks at her when they head off to the tribunal, even after the others (including Bill) have looked away); they've done a great job of connecting other clips to make more of the Eric/Sookie relationship; and they've done a great job of matching the scenes to the music & lyrics. I would expect that it would need more footage or some different shoots to tell the story. It has been a lot of fun watching people become creative with the limited shots of Eric to tell a Sookie/Eric story with season 1. I like to give credit where credit is due.

Ok. I hate to admit it. I've been putting off trueblood since ep 2 this season because I just couldn't stand being dissappointed...AGAIN. I'm such a stickler for canon that sometimes I have a problem w/ some of the fanfiction out there too. I seriously haven't watched a single episode since ep 2 and thought I would wait it out until the end of the season to watch it all in one shot and fast forward through all the boring bits. Somehow I find out that Sookie and Eric actually kiss..like for real!! Ok..now I'm starting to get interested all over again. I'll probably still skip over the boring bits but at least we got a tiny morsel. Oh, and I love Pam's comment at the end. She's the best portrayed character in the series.

You're right Judy! Pam is the best realized character from the books, IMO. There are great actors and performances - Denis O'Hare - but I think Kristin Bauer as Pam rings the most true for me.
So on rewatching, I take it back about that kiss. Taken separate from all the other frustrating crap, that was hot!!! The way she resisted - makes sense, yeah, that's Sookie - and then gave in - yeah, Sookie again - and then stopped him... why,oh why, but yeah that's Sookie, too. It frustrates the snot out of me though, that he didn't just tell her why to not trust Bill. She told him it would help his case and asked him to tell her!!! ARRRGH, this show is so frustrating.

You can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the Eric of the books would have said something very pointed to her that would have sent her off scurrying in the right direction to figure it out for herself. Unfortunately, TB Sookie is significantly more dense than book Sookie, and I find that hard to stomach.
Yeah, and that's kind of why he just needs to lay it out for her. She doesn't get it... take the hint... nada! And book Eric didn't tell her about SA. He made Bill do it, because he didn't want it to be the words from his mouth that hurt her so... maybe he's waiting for the opportunity to force it out of Bill?

It made me think of one of my favorite Sookie and Eric videos. This one is a little older and only has clips from seasons 1 and 2. It's made by the same editor of the video I posted on August 8. Anyway, the video embedded below is explained by her as, "the story revolves around eric and sookie and the complications of their relationship. sookie drives to fangtasia to see eric. she stops to think things over, and then proceeds on her journey when she fully understands that eric is the only one vampire for her.
"this is supposedly a continuation of book 9. i brought up some significant issues from the book like the truth about bill's mission, and eric's failure to rescue the tortured sookie from her evil fairy captors. not only frustration and anger stir sookie's mind, but also the fear of eric's overwhelming power and his eagerness to kill just about anyone in the name of protecting her. all these things contributed to sookie's decision of sending eric away. but eric loves her no matter what, and though it hurts him to be apart from her, he gives her what she needs-- a breathing space. sookie recalls all the other times when she was in danger and eric was always there to save her life. she wouldn't have learned about bill's deceit if it weren't for him.

OMG, Chelsea, that "Candyman" video sent my panties up in a puff of smoke!! I know the first season wig sucked, but it doesn't look so bad in these edited videos and I MISS IT along with his larger shoulders!!! Loved that the line "he's a one stop shop, makes my panties drop" was played over the scene in Eric's office slowed down as he slowly removes his jacket - oh yeah, he most certainly does!! lol It does make me mourn all the wasted TB potential, though... sigh.

Those scenes just made me see that Eric is much nicer when he is alone with Sookie. Also mainly when Bill is not there. This gives me hope for AE being sweet, it is him only showing his true self to Sookie. Yay!
That's what I was thinking, too, Chelsea. It seems that he's more able to let his emotions show when they're alone. Even Sookie. But of course, why would he show it to others in this show? They'd just eat him alive. Unlike in the books where he has so much power that he just doesn't give a shit to what others think.

You know, the way that these video editors have spliced up TB clips and paired them with these songs, I can almost (almost) forget about the atrocity that is AP's Sookie and the tragedy that is AB's storytelling, and re-imagine them as Eric/Sookie scenes from the books.

that dead to the world video was so well done! Those are some clever editing techniques and Anna's sad face Sookie made me swallow a lump in my throat. Oh poor Sook, it was the best of times, it was the worst of times.
C.X., I really like the DDtW video too. I've already given up hope that season 4 will be anything like book 4, so videos like the "Falling" one tend to catch my eye.

I think the splicing together of relevant scenes makes Alan Ball's direction a little clearer--or, at least, one should hope so:

The intercutting of the scenes really show play of AP's little emotional peaks. I think this scene is an especially good example of how good AP can be, given the chance to be thoughtful and nuanced.

C.X., upon several viewings, I started to feel the same way. I'm holding out hope that season 4 will go our way, especially since Harris' newly released first chapter seems to have ominous undertones for Sookie's and Eric's relationship. I hope I'm wrong.

If the writers can stop writing scenes that require her to shriek or scream, it's a good step in the right direction, I say. I started hitting the mute button whenever AP contorted her face a certain way because I knew she was going to scream, most likely for Beehl. And it annoyed me... because she seemed helpless and she looked stupid.
Mary, I like the video a lot too. Tribute videos that aren't totally repetitive are getting harder and harder to find, especially since we only have so many quality Sookie and Eric scenes.

Mary, I told you the song was bad. It's not even the lyrics that are all that annoying; paired with certain scenes, some of the lyrics were actually quite funny. Katy Perry is pretty grating though.
Even though I generally have an issue with Mr. Kanye West, I think this video is edited quite well. The lyrics are perfect. The best part? The last line of the song paired with the final image.

Normally, I am NOT a fan of "country" music, yet this video just seems to work. I can picture Sookie singing along to a song like this. Make sure you read the video editor's comments about her video on YouTube.

I really enjoyed that. Pey, I LOVE Mumford & Sons. That song's actually one of my favorites on the album (although I happen to think they're all pretty darn good).
Ava, you know what's funny about these videos? I'm often left thinking, "Now, if only True Blood were edited so well." The best editors take the strong scenes that evoke emotion and leave out the dreck. I love Mumford & Sons, too.

AP looks ill. AS looks hot- no freaking duh. JM- I would comb that hair for him. ST- also hot, not AS hot but nice. SM- looks really old but you can tell that it is aided by the makeup. Too much shading on the cheekbones and I get they are going for gaunt but OMG, I am a makeup novice and I can tell you don't do that. Jason hasn't changed. I loved Pam's eyeroll. And did I mention AS hot.
AS= HOT he looks mighty fine.
