In the interest of being true to our literary roots, has anyone found fan art for the Sookieverse that isn't influenced by True Blood?
Not that there is anything wrong with Anna Paquin, but it would be refreshing to see a blonde blue-eyed Sookie like in the books. I'd also love to see an Alcide or Quinn or Claudine.

Maddeybird... there is nothing better or worse than a fan with photoshop. I think it could easily be argued that on that last shot you posted, someone took some liberties with Anna Paquin's "Natural Bounty"

Hey Mari, I can't remember the name of the movie - others might - but he plays a Karaoke singer! I know there was a clip on the AS thread - maybe the third one? - that shows him with the "stache" and a very interesting expression on his face. If you scroll through you might be able to find it. 
'Leende guldbruna ögon' is the name of the film and the caps came from a clip on youtube, it's an object lesson in how to make cheesy look charming and funny, I must go have a look for that other clip..........

Oh, I'm gonna sound really naive - and I have watched some 'interesting' movies on occasion - oh, never mind. I think I caught on to the context. Ew. Oh, My. God. I think I can! Bill wants to become an actor and he's going to harass his ex (Sookie) into getting her new bfriend (YOU KNOW WHO) to help him out. But maybe he goes out on an audition by himself not realizing its for a porno and then Sookie has to stop him b/c she feels all protective of him b/c he's such a douche bag and its her 'fault' he's in Hollywood. Oh, I like this.
Would "how'd you like a mustache ride?" be appropriate dialogue for the filmmakers to have Bill say at the audition? LOL...

Bill. I love Bill. Everyone loves to hate him. It makes for some really funny feedback on the fanfic. Last chappy someone compared him to Gargarmel (remember the smurfs?) At first they told me my Bill was the most boring no FF, now he's the creepiest. LOL. Its so effing funny. I can't write him out of the story b/c he's just too much damn fun! Oh, Bill. The gift that just keeps on giving!

That Bill head is awesome. I wish I knew what I was doing with photoshop. Maybe its best that I don't. I used the Squirrelizer website on like 50 pix. Not a good use of one's time....
I use paint(dot)net it is a free and very easy program. That is the only way I managed to make that picture. It took about 10 minutes from beginning to end. I am sure I could have taken more time to get the colors right and what not but I was too giddy to post it. I'll have to check out the Squirrelizer site too. I have been laid off from work for several months and I need things to fill my time. I guess fun photo manipulations is a good time waster.

Thanks for posting that gorgeous piece of Alexander, Dallas! I saw that on DeviantArt yesterday; (I'm weird and check for new images every few days). It's so... swoon worthy. My first impression was that one could get lost in those eyes. The same artist also has a relatively new Sookie piece done in charcoal: Sookie Sketch by Euclase.
Annalise, so glad you like them. I'll post more links soon. I have a soft spot for the cartoon-like drawings of Sookieverse characters. I like to think of them as different interpretations of the original book covers.

I mean, at first glance, the lighting of the picture makes it look like Eric is clutching his "gracious plenty." (And, my, don't we know just how plentiful it is.)

Yes, my profile pic is of Buffy and Spike.... having the conversation about "Mr. and Mrs. Big Pile of Dust" in "Something Blue." That episode always makes me laugh. Who knew Buffy liked "Wind Beneath My Wings."

It occurred to me that I should post the other two paintings on Tiia Ohman's site, as not everyone's going to go poking around. The red one I posted above is my favorite because that single red tear works so well against the black and white of Skarsgard's skin. However, the blue one of Eric and Godric is lovely as well. (There's the nice touch of the blue of Skarsgard's eyes matching the blue background.) You can find these two paintings under "Digitaaliset." This is one of my favs of all time! These are the characters in my head(well with their hair the same color though, and Eric a bit taller). Eric was only like 23 when he was turned and Sookie has the curves I saw.

Chelsea, I love how Eric just towers over EVERYBODY. (Click on the links I provided above and check out verauko's other Sookie/Eric pieces. She has quite a few. I think I also provided links to several of her other works if you scroll up some.) My only quibble is that CH describes Pam as slightly shorter than Sookie, but I guess if Sookie isn't wearing heels, it works.

I love her art! This picture is really good. I also love the line up. Quite incidental, but it cracks me up that Bill and Jason's hands are posed in classic "ken doll" or Sears model poses.

Laura, yup. I've been following Verauko, aka Natalia, for a while. (The artist is a "she.") We've conversed on several occasions. She's a huge SVM fan, and in fact, she has a great piece, "Ssssookeh," which I linked above somewhere. I'll post it here again, because it's just so damn funny.

I think it's the right hair color, Chelsea. Sookie never talks about dyeing or bleaching her hair, and most blondes/blonds seem darken as they get older. In fact, she seems rather low-maintenance with her hair (save the few times she had it dressed up by Janice Herveaux Phillips in Club Dead). Keep in mind that the drawing seems to place Sookie and Eric in the shadows of their bedroom. The picture right above the "Fresh Blood" bedroom piece was done by the same artist and depicts both Sookie and Eric with lighter hair. (Sorry, I'm getting quite dorky here.)
Wow! Love the one of Sookie and Eric in bed! That's close to how I would picture them from the books, before TB came along lost the sexy.

Liann, maybe you're thinking of one of the Pre-Raphaelite painters? John Mallais and John Waterhouse come to mind--I believe they both did paintings of Ophelia. Or, it might have been Eugene Delacroix. The colors remind me of painting he did of Ophelia. (I'll check. I could be getting my painters/artists all mixed up. It's been a while.)
Yes, yes, yes! It was the Pre-Raphaelite painters I was thinking of. We just had an exhibition of their paintings go through the art gallery in Toronto. Unfortunately, I'm not well versed in the visual arts so the names and movements go out of my head quickly. I don't really have the language to describe visual art, but yes, the colours, layout and mood of the picture very much reminded me of them.

Mari, the artist is Polish, so I assume that she's not as familiar with the way people dress in different parts of the country. I tend to attribute Jason's hip surfer boy attire to her (the artist's) perception that Jason is a bit of a frat boy: pretty, but not much else to recommend him. My fiance always says that Jason is "on his way to becoming a good ol' boy."
Tara's outfit doesn't bother me too much. She's pretty young and owns a boutique, so I imagine she tries to be "fashionable."

Every time CH mentioned Pam's penny loafers, I wanted to laugh. The picture that painted in my head was so comical. I think Book Pam's penchant for twinsets and pastels stands in stark contrast to her feisty, sarcastic personality--just cracks me up.

This is a work-in-progress by Kharnage. This airbrushed painting (yes, it's created from scratch) looks AMAZING so far, but it's only one part. It's supposed to True Blood vs. Twilight. Sookie is standing over Eric's shoulder with a gun. Not sure how Edward and Bella fit into this. I'll also post the finished product once I see it up.

Ava, if you scroll up, you'll see the first image the artist released while the work was in progress: Eric and Sookie's gun over his shoulder. I couldn't imagine then that the final product would be so intricate and detailed. Eric is fierce, and sexy as all hell.
Karla, the original size (I made it smaller) reveals that Eric is actually ripping out Edward's sparkly, little heart. He's actually got it in his hands. I know you've read Twilight, but I can't help but feel secretly delighted at this piece. TB Sookie is almost as bad as Bella for me, and that's saying a lot. I can't stand the character in Meyer's novels (though I've only read the first and parts of the next few books), and I doubt she's much improved in the movie franchise.
It's ok Pey, I would love to see Eric ripping out Edward's heart! If push comes to shove, of course I would be siding with our Viking. No questions asked.

My aunt raises alpaca's (3 of them) and Llama's and Alpaca's are very similar. We found this for her on the net one day, I don't even remember when. She lives on an acreage and they are easy to care for, keep the wild grasses down, and have nice wool. I'm still waiting for a sweater though

My aunt is really attached to them. She has said they are very gentle, and good with other animals. The wool is beautiful, she just recently found a place to get it processed for knitting (I have no idea what this processing entails). Agreed, but him having short hair on the show doesn't upset me the way it does some.
The short hair doesn't bother me in the slightest (only that it wasn't blond last season), but the show's stylists could have at least given Eric/Alex nice, sexy, long hair for the time he had it.

You know how CH describes Sookie's "I'm nervous" and "I'm going to pretend I don't know what you're thinking" smiles? That's I how I picture it looking. Even "Sookie" says that she knows she appears crazy when she's grinning from ear to ear, but she can't really help it.
You could be right, Pey. I always pictured it as one of those overly large, toothy smiles. I tend to use those when I don't really want to smile at someone. And for some darn reason people buy it. LOL
Sookie's crazy smile reminds me of the Joker in this picture but it does work.

I agree that Eric's face looks rather unattractive in the NSFW piece, but I thought it was funny that the artist generously endowed him with a gracious plenty quite as plentiful as it was. That version of Eric also has long fingernails, of which I'm not a fan.
