I'm so glad there's a new off topic thread. The other one hasn't let me on for about the last two weeks. I missed the last 102 comments. I figured it was just getting very full. Anyway, yay! Now I can chat again =) lol.

Oh My Sweet lord... Has anyone seen the awful yet awesome show, Jersey Shore? I am crying!

    omg224 12 hours ago

I have seen that monstrosity. Never have I seen so much hair gel and fake tans in my life.

I saw this from the original Random Thoughts thread and moved it over here because I'm interested in your critical opinion of how the canned tans and hair gel in Jersey Shore compare to the boys of Growing Up Gotti who were Oompa-Loompa orange and who had more haircare product on their heads than ten metal bands in the 80's.

Better yet, the producers of Growing Up Gotti were forced to use subtitled when the Gotti Brothers spoke because they were completely unintelligible without them otherwise. Does Jersey Shore have subtitles too?

    2009-12-09 16:42:37.0

Them boys are Guido incarnate (at least by the show, "Jersey Shore" Standards)... What I don't get is the hair... I mean the HAIR.. What is up with the upside down Ziggurat look?

Well I tell you I grew up at the Jersey Shore and it was NOTHING like that! Of course it was many years ago.  The closet you would get to something like that would be Jersey City, just a stones throw from NYC. I haven't been back in 3 years but I never saw that!  That hair is too funny-makes me glad I am raising my kids somewhere else.

    2009-12-09 16:54:08.0

The furtherest north that I have been on the east coast is the Jersey Shore is Point Pleasant Beach and Sea Side... The board walk had it's thing, but it was not that different from say Myrtle Beach? What you would expect from a board walk? I thoroughly enjoyed both places and did not see a lot of this there (at least no more than you would see crotch rockets with thong bikini chicks at Myrtle Beach). If anything, Point Pleasant was amazingly beautiful... We had the benefit of being able to use a private beach though. I hear that the public access areas get insanely crowded...

    2009-12-09 17:03:09.0

Don't have cable, so I don't know this Jersey Shore show. I did catch the Gotti show once and I was floored by the fact that subtitled the kids.

Related, did anyone catch Saturday Night LIve this past weekend? They did a skit "Gossip Girls - Staten Island". I'm from Brooklyn but a HS friend (few actually) are on SI and since I moved back to NYC I've hung out there a bit. All I can say is ITS TRUE! ITS REALLY WEIRD BUT TRUE. Its still like the mid-80s over there. Its like NYC's lost land where time forgot...

Wait, there's more! Have you all seen the website Hot Chicks with Douchebags? This site, is pure internet gold.

Click here to visit Hot Chicks With Douchebags

Right now, they have opened voting for their annual HCwDB of the Year. Such likely lads as these are up for the awards... ladies, I think they might be single! Laughing

I'm going to go to the snl site and watch that skit. I love snl but hardly ever watch it on T.V.

    2009-12-09 17:10:34.0

WTH??! That guys skin is...all wrong! lol

    2009-12-09 17:11:36.0

Such likely lads as these are up for the awards... ladies, I think they might be single!

Yay! And this is why I am perfectly content with my current single status. WTF? The second DB reminds me of someone I went to college with. Just the facial features, not the orange skin or troll pen hair.

These pix make anyone else feel queasy?

    2009-12-09 17:13:41.0

Wait, there's more! Have you all seen the website Hot Chicks with Douchebags? This site, is pure internet gold.

This and tool academy are some of my husband's favorite things ever....  That first guy... Looks like he went to the school of the Vampire Don (The Douche) to learn to be were?

    2009-12-09 17:15:33.0

And yeah... The skin is ALL wrong....

Take that back about the first guy... He looks like Marlyn Manson's dark half?

    2009-12-09 17:16:40.0

I can't believe I'm still awake(jk I can believe it)...I had two finals today and I stayed up nearly all night studing. I got sidetracked here and there on this site, I just can't stop talking to you guys once I get going! Tongue out But anyway, I fell asleep aroud 5:30am, woke up at 8am, drank half an energy drink and then took my A&P test. Kept studing for Math after that, drank a cup of extra strength coffee, then took my Math test. I feel ok about the A&P test, but I feel great about my Math test! I think I did really good.

My math teacher has a cool rule: if you have an A in the class by the end of the last chapter test, you don't have to take the final. I had a B+ so hopefully, if I did good on this test, I won't have to take the actual final and that would make today my last day for math, yay! My teacher is going to email me later tonight with my score....fingers crossed...

I'm still not tired though, but that doesn't really suprise me. 2 weeks ago I pulled an all-nighter and I stayed awake for 36 straight hours. Even then, I had to force myself to go to bed because I was still wide awake.

    2009-12-09 18:07:58.0

You know after 72 hours I think you cane be declared temp insane

    2009-12-09 18:59:48.0

Wow, that's a interesting fact. I wonder what it feels like to be temporarily insane...

    2009-12-09 19:04:18.0

LOL its a trip!!!  We did that one 4th of July in college we were awake and full of alcohol it was loads of fun

    2009-12-09 19:05:12.0

LOL We actually took a VHS tape and ran it across our little apartment area by the pool as streamers thinking we were celebrating the 4th ofjuly

    2009-12-09 19:05:42.0

You stayed up for 72 hours drunk, destroyed a tape and used its guts to decorate for our nations anniversery? LOL!!!!!! That sounds like a blast!

    2009-12-09 19:19:11.0

Ohh it was a freaking blast, we made this game called Rolly Chair and we found a desk chair that rolled and we would push each other down the side walk.  I have the pic somewhere in my photos from college I think but it was a blast.  Thats what July 4th is all about baby celebrating freedom, freedom to do What Ever You Want!!  Maybe I should also mention it was the summer before junior year so I was what, 20 and those guys (and 1 girl) were the best friends ever!!!!

    2009-12-09 19:23:37.0

That sounds like a lot of fun! Laughing One time when we were waiting for my night class to start a friend and I slid down a ramp on the upper floor to the lower level. There was hardly anyone around so it was really fun! A couple of kids saw us, but they looked envious! I love rolly chairs.

    2009-12-09 21:28:08.0

Okay so Anna Camp who plays Sarah Newlin is on Glee as a judge for the glee club contest! There has to be a True Blood / Glee cross over somewhere... and that has to have been the most awesome thing ever... She was talking shit about the deaf school glee club honking!

    2009-12-09 22:15:20.0

Has anyone seen the BBC mini-series "Lost in Austen"? It is so hilarious!

    2009-12-10 14:04:11.0

no. I'll have to check to see if BBC America is showing it. Usually I end up ordering stuff in off amazon- we have all the dvds for Little Britain.

    2009-12-10 14:27:37.0

Ooh, um it was out last year... You might want to try Ovation, they play it every once in a while. That and Amelie (my daughter's fave)

    2009-12-10 14:37:47.0

OK Tony wanted me to say that after watching new moon (Two Times) he now believes Edward would kick Erics ass.  I do not agree but he insisted that I post this LOL he has a name on here dont know why he cant do it him self LOL

    2009-12-10 19:29:55.0

Why does he think that after watching New Moon? Edward was the one who got his ass kicked in that movie...

    2009-12-10 20:49:02.0

Over on her site they are calling them "the pages." Not the 1st chapter, like last year. She made a comment before that chapter 1 really doesn't begin until later in the book. We were all like "What? What does that mean?" So I think she is just going to post the first several pages of the book. I'm still kinda confused but thats what I think is going on.

OMG, CH has got us by the 'nads! Holy Sh*t! Forget about that Bill stuff. MY next FanFic will be on the legions of fans driven to insanity by a capricious Southern author's penchant for teasing and self-produced melodrama! No wonder she likes Bill so much! She IS Bill!

    2009-12-10 21:01:07.0

And I'm putting that here b/c lately I seem to put my comments in all the wrong places.

    2009-12-10 21:02:21.0

Why does he think that after watching New Moon? Edward was the one who got his ass kicked in that movie...

LOL! Seriously. It was so sad. I was like: "Come on! At least get a hit in."

    2009-12-10 21:03:04.0

Because he realized they got it all wrong, he was supposed to be able to read their minds and beat them...thats when he reallzied he would beat Eric b.c he could knwo the moves he was going to do.

    2009-12-10 21:04:02.0

Not completely helpful if you are fighting someone with skill. In Eclipse, Edward and Jasper had that mock fight and even though Edward could read Jasper's thoughts, Jasper was still a match for him based on skill alone. Eddie's mind reading is no match for the Viking.

    2009-12-10 21:06:54.0

IDK, its Tony he will belive what he wants no matter what any of us say....OK he says "what about when he had to fight victoria"  he being a stubborn man what can i do

    2009-12-10 21:10:32.0

Oh, Lord. I did say skilled fighter, didn't I? She was a skilled escapist. There is a reason why she was trying to avoid a fight. She knew she would lose.

    2009-12-10 21:14:07.0

HAHAH as I said Ash, he is a stubborn man

    2009-12-10 21:17:31.0

Truth is Eric and all the other SVM vamps are more likely to loose in a fight. There are a lot more ways for them to be killed. The only was to kill the Twilight vamps is to rip them to pieces and then burn the pieces. But I agree, I think Eric, being 10 times older than Edward, would be a match. And if all else fails Eric could always fly up really high, Edward can't fly.

    2009-12-10 21:22:54.0

Bill could bore them all to death.

    2009-12-10 21:25:27.0

Sami, you made Tony SO very happy.  He got this HUGE smile on his face LOL a "like minded companion" so what am I chop liver?!? LOL

    Love it Mari!

    2009-12-10 21:25:38.0

And if all else fails Eric could always fly up really high, Edward can't fly.

He (Edward) is also skilled in celibacy. Not sure how that helps in a battle...maybe in redirecting his sexual frustration...

    2009-12-10 21:32:05.0

hahahahha Ash that is too too funny I really laughed out loud!!

    2009-12-10 21:33:18.0

He (Edward) is also skilled in celibacy. Not sure how that helps in a battle...maybe in redirecting his sexual frustration...

Ha ha, I'm showing my age here but for anyone who remembers Seinfeld, they could always have a competition to see who is "master of their domain" - lol, ha ha ha. Omg, Bill would lose immediately. He would f*ck a pie. I think.

    2009-12-10 21:35:10.0

Mari that is great maybe you should write a story about that!!!  OK Tony says dont forget Eric on occassion goes both ways and that doesnt bother us women

    2009-12-10 21:36:31.0

Ha ha, I'm showing my age here but for anyone who remembers Seinfeld, they could always have a competition to see who is "master of their domain" - lol, ha ha ha. Omg, Bill would lose immediately. He would f*ck a pie. I think.

LOL! I remember that episode. Bill would definitely lose. He wouldn't even pass the preliminaries.

    2009-12-10 21:38:46.0

SVM vamps can be killed in many more ways than the Twilight vamps. Just stating a fact. But I don't think Eric would lose in a fight. He's too awesome remember?? He could also fly up high and throw things at Edward.

    2009-12-10 21:38:57.0

Bill wouldn't stand a chance against anyone in a fight. Except a brand new SVM vamp maybe...if he go lucky..

    2009-12-10 21:39:56.0

He could also fly up high and throw things at Edward.

LOL! Maybe he could throw him some condoms. Definite way to take him down. He wouldn't know what to do. For all his years, he missed a very important lesson in sex education.

    2009-12-10 21:41:04.0

I say, what's the point of having a vamp lover if he's never had sex before, in all the 100 years he's been alive?

    2009-12-10 21:42:36.0

I loved the master of your domain episode.  "I'm Out" Yelled George!!  So funny!!!!

I think Eric would win b.c he is just ruthless, he knows how to get the job done, Edward even telsl Bella that Alice will see them coming and they can be prepared, eric would just take it whne it happens and kick ass.

OHH Sami right on, the point of a vamp is for their experience!!!

    2009-12-10 21:43:03.0

I say, what's the point of having a vamp lover if he's never had sex before, in all the 100 years he's been alive?

Seriously, what was he doing the whole time? Wait...never mind...

    2009-12-10 21:43:49.0

reading and composing music...soo not the stuff of hot lovers

    2009-12-10 21:44:16.0

OHH Sami right on, the point of a vamp is for their experience!!!

Thats most of their appeal right? At least it is for me.

    2009-12-10 21:44:38.0

    Stalking...

    2009-12-10 21:44:43.0

haha you notice Edwarda nd Bill have stalking tendencies

    2009-12-10 21:45:02.0

both not so hot in the sack

    2009-12-10 21:45:09.0

And he got what? 3 P.H.D.'s?

    2009-12-10 21:45:12.0

    OMG! Ashley, thats so true!

    2009-12-10 21:45:30.0

I know!!  I think we are on to something

    2009-12-10 21:45:40.0

I do find Edward's stalking less creepy though.

    2009-12-10 21:46:09.0

we could have a new thread Bill/Edward Stalkers/bed suckers

    2009-12-10 21:46:15.0

Ash I would agree with you on that statement

    2009-12-10 21:46:26.0

But I personally would rather be in a relationship with Edward over Bill. I agree Ashmaire.

Ahh!! I'm talking to 2 ashleys!

    2009-12-10 21:46:58.0

LOL you are so very lucky!!!  Us Ashley's are so awesome just like Eric

    2009-12-10 21:47:40.0

Edward and Eric have similarities too in high-handedness.

Ahh!! I'm talking to 2 ashleys!

LOL! It happens sometimes. If you get lucky, a third might join in.

    2009-12-10 21:47:48.0

It weird I had already typed out that I prefer Edward to Bill and then you both said the same thing! We're all thinking alike today..

    2009-12-10 21:47:56.0

that is why we are on this site, great minds!

    2009-12-10 21:48:18.0

Usually I call you both Ashley, but now I guess I'll say Ashmarie and Ashley.

    2009-12-10 21:48:56.0

Edward and Eric have similarities too in high-handedness.

    Yes, they're both very high-handed.

    2009-12-10 21:49:53.0

LOL! Maybe he could throw him some condoms. Definite way to take him down. He wouldn't know what to do. For all his years, he missed a very important lesson in sex education.

haha you notice Edwarda nd Bill have stalking tendencies

both not so hot in the sack

You guys are KILLING ME! This is too effing funny. How about a FANFIC about the lamest vampires ever?

    2009-12-10 21:50:16.0

HAHAH yes Mari you have a great idea

    2009-12-10 21:50:50.0

you have lots of great ideas...maybe you should outsource some of yoru work LOL

    2009-12-10 21:51:07.0

DO IT Mari!!! Write them all, all of your ideas!

    2009-12-10 21:51:48.0

OK so you know what would be fun, Eric/Jacob vrs Sam/Edward who would win

    2009-12-10 21:52:06.0

You mean in popularity? Hmm...Well I love Eric more obviously. And its tough between Sam and Jacob..

    2009-12-10 21:53:41.0

How about a vampire with OCD? Just spends all his time washing his hands?

    2009-12-10 21:53:48.0

    LOL!!!!!

    2009-12-10 21:54:06.0

Is he trying to wash the blood off?

    2009-12-10 21:54:26.0

NO I meant like in a fight so to speak or a competition

    2009-12-10 21:55:00.0

I thought so, Ash. Hmm...Sam can turn into anything - lion, wolf, etc. He could be some serious competition for Jacob. Is a tie possible?

    2009-12-10 21:55:22.0

hmmmmmm i dont know i would have to think about this.  I was thinking Eric and Jacob b.c I think they are the better men...and Bill and Edward because they are lesser in my opnion...never thought of Sam

    2009-12-10 21:57:15.0

Naw, I think Eric would tear Jacob up. Jacob is just a kid after all.

    2009-12-10 21:57:25.0

    Nah they beat laurant

    2009-12-10 21:57:47.0

Thats true, but I really feel that Eric would be able to easily outsmart Jacob, because he is a kid. Edward would be more difficult for him because of his mindreading.

    2009-12-10 21:59:26.0

    feeling lots of potential here...IDK...

    2009-12-10 22:00:28.0

You know, I finally caved and read the twilight books recently and I have to say- I didn't really care for Jacob in that way. He's so whiny. Part of that has to be about his age. He's a great friend but that's about it. I do have to say my favorite part is when she kicks his butt for nicknaming her daughter after the LNM!

    2009-12-10 23:21:09.0

Ladies, I just wrote this line and thought it was funny.  Does it make sense?  I'm a little punchy tonight.:

The main attraction, so to speak, was just as impressive.  Remember those foot long sandwiches that sold for five bucks?  Well, if Ing had been lunch, you’d get some change back for your five dollars.  But it wouldn’t be much.

    2009-12-10 23:48:07.0

Yes!!  Sanomara I get it totally!

    2009-12-11 06:11:18.0

Posts moved from Freelancer Bill thread:

Ouch! - The BL's are not going to be happy campers today  10 most annoying characters on TV - TV.com

ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!  What a relief to read that, especially as it was included in a group of annoying TV characters, and not on a forum!

    Delete Messageyesterday

I know Liann! There's street cred behind the assertion that Bill's annoying. It cant just be chalked up to ...I don't know...what are we?....Over-enthused ELers? No. Across the board - of all television programs currently on, Bill is one of the Top Ten annoying characters! ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!

    Delete Messageyesterday

I loved it but you know what I LOVE STABLER and I really like whats her name on Gossip Girl (althoug I did not know it was a book series) so while I LOVE LOVE LOVE that Bill is #3, I hate hate hate that stabler is on there and plus I LOVE ABBY on NCIS so unfortunatly I cannot agree with the whole cred on the authors...I will just choose to ignore the ones i dont agree with

    2009-12-11 06:18:33.0

I get some of the characters being annoying, but Eric and Drama?  The show is called Entourage for God's sake!  They have a point with both Stabler and Barney.  I have loved both characters for years but both are starting to wear thin.  And I don't watch NCIS, but Abby is cute as a goth button.

They got Bill pinned down though.

    2009-12-11 07:51:58.0

Any manga readers out there? I'm tyring to come up with a gift for my sweet but rather geeky 13-year old nephew and I thought maybe he'd enjoy manga. Any suggestions??? He's always been into anime, other than that he spends most of his time playing video games.

    2009-12-11 11:39:05.0

I read manga as a teen, but it was mostly manga for girls. Lets see...I thought Trigun was really good as an anime and a manga. Also Dragon Ball Z, Inuyasha and I can't think of any more right now that a boy would enjoy. Hope this helps!

    2009-12-11 11:55:52.0

I love Inuyasha! I would recommend that and FullMetal Alchemist.

    2009-12-11 12:35:38.0

My brother is a huge Anime fan. How about getting him a bunch of DVD's of the classic faves if he doesn't already own them?

I am a huge fan of Spirited Away & own that one myself but I know my bro has:

    • Aikra
    • Princess Mononoke
    • Ghost in the Shell
    • Vampire Hunter D (but this is dark)

        Here's a couple 'best of' Magna lists form Amazon;

    http://www.amazon.com/Best-Magna-Books-Ever/lm/BJUG6RHWWTYP

    http://www.amazon.com/Manga-Have-Loved-paid-own/lm/3KL2H89M4GENE/ref=cm_lmt_fvlm_f_1_rlrsrs0

But...honestly, if he loves video games, Anime & kind of geeky I would get him the Magic the Gathering cards. Have you heard of them?I have to admit they are fun but I am geeky like that. It's a trading card game - but think...D&D, WOW & interactive Zelda or Myst btu in card format. You want to start with an intro set.

I bought them for my bro when he was in middle school for his birthday & he's been playing ever since & got all his friends into it.

If this looks good to you I can get the info from my bro on which set you can start him off with.

    2009-12-11 12:37:11.0

Us Ashley's are so awesome just like Eric

    Yup. LoL.

I laughed the entire time I read the discussions yesterday about Eric vs. Edward. Too funny. Sorry I missed it.

    2009-12-11 13:39:53.0

You guys are awesome! Thanks for the suggestions. The card game sounds really interesting Laura. Maybe that's something he can get into with his other nice but geeky friends. I'll try a couple of y'all's suggestions and see what sticks. : )

Laura if you wouldn't mind asking your brother about a good set of intro cards, that would be great. Thanks!!

    2009-12-11 15:11:48.0

Will do. I will get right on it.

    2009-12-11 15:24:36.0

Sami and all Ashleys are top notch. The Edward vs. Eric battle really was hysterical. I'm still visualizing Eris (ASkars) flying up -maybe 8 feet? - and throwing little packaged condoms at Edward at breakneck speed while also just pummeling him with snarky comments and mocking him about his overeducation and time wasted composing music.  (like Bill, "oh, yes, that's right. you COMPOSE MUSIC")  Too bad Pam doesn't fly because she could be there too. BTW, what does Pam do? Did we ever find out what Pam's talent is?

    2009-12-11 15:33:28.0

Mari is awesome too! Esp. when you write hysterical fanfic. Laughing

I want to know what Pam's talent is too. We could ask CH if we will ever find out in the books.

    2009-12-11 16:19:00.0

Aw thanks Sami! I wish I was artistic. I wish I could do a graphic of Edward and Eric. THAT would be something to outsource! I need minions!

    2009-12-11 16:42:29.0

Maybe Pam's sparkling wit is her talent? Its more cool than what ? - double coagulant goo coming out of your mouth.

    2009-12-11 16:43:18.0

I got stuck on the Tube with Kevin McKidd. He was right in front of me like 2 feet away!! He plays Dr. Owen Hunt on Grey's!! He was also in Rome. He was so freakin hot!! I love him. Very downtown, arty looking in his little cap & gold hoop earring.

    2009-12-11 16:48:00.0

I love that guy on Greys!! He's really scary when he gets mad thouh. lol

I didn't know he was in Rome, cool!

    2009-12-11 17:15:00.0

I love Inuyasha! I would recommend that and FullMetal Alchemist.~Ashmarie

There is a new FMA out, FMA: Brotherhood. It's a little bit different.

    Kevin McKidd~ Laura

He was in NBC's Journeyman too. I liked the show, but like most of the shows I like it got canceled.

    2009-12-11 18:45:11.0

There is a new FMA out, FMA: Brotherhood. It's a little bit different.

I am aware. I haven't been able to keep up with it lately though. Maybe I'll get around to it over Christmas...

    2009-12-11 19:24:48.0

Us Ashley's are so awesome just like Eric

    Yup. LoL.

I laughed the entire time I read the discussions yesterday about Eric vs. Edward. Too funny. Sorry I missed it.

Ashley, I was waiting for you to come on too and join in the fun

    2009-12-11 19:43:10.0

Ashley- Haha I know! When I read it I was like "Oh no! I missed it!" My computer has so many difficulties, if it's running smoothly one day, then the internet decides not to work lol. There's a week a couple weeks ago when I couldn't get on at all, (my monitor decided to quit on me) then the off topic thread stopped working for me when I got my monitor working, then this one starts getting good and my internet goes out! Hahaha it's funny looking back, but I very frustrated at the time lol. I'll have to catch the next one =)

Maybe Pam's sparkling wit is her talent? Its more cool than what ? - double coagulant goo coming out of your mouth.

I'm with you on this one. It takes talent to be that witty. It would be an amusing talent to have that's for sure.

    2009-12-11 22:42:42.0

haha I like that idea about Pam...but can personality really be a talent?!?  IDK

    2009-12-11 22:46:28.0

I doubt it, but it's a fun idea lol.

    2009-12-11 23:34:34.0

I'm still visualizing Eris (ASkars) flying up -maybe 8 feet? - and throwing little packaged condoms at Edward at breakneck speed while also just pummeling him with snarky comments and mocking him about his overeducation and time wasted composing music.  (like Bill, "oh, yes, that's right. you COMPOSE MUSIC")

Mari, great summation of that whole exchange!! You guys slay me!  I've been off the forum for a few days and am now trying to catch up, but I have my hand over my mouth because my kids are asleep and I'm laughing way too loud as the tears run down my cheeks...

    Thanks for the great laugh!!

    2009-12-11 23:34:54.0

Ooh Kevin McKidd... Did anyone else watch Rome? I was so hooked on it. I could have cried when they decided not to continue it. James Purefoy as Marc Antony... makes me want to slobber like Homer Simpson.

    2009-12-11 23:46:59.0

So bad with names! who did Kevin McKidd play?  I absolutely loved Rome!!!  Pulo was my favourite.  Such a great character.

    2009-12-11 23:55:40.0

Kevin McKidd played Lucius Vorenus, the captain of the guard that Cesar made a senator

    2009-12-12 02:24:48.0

Thanks, Nena!  He was awesome, too!  I loved how they flipped his character.  He started out looking like the goody-two-shoes, by the book soldier and then we see him back in Rome hardly batting an eyelash over the illness and death of his imported slaves - kids included - in a crate!!!  Great character.

Did anyone else love the actress who played Attia (sorry for the spelling?)  I thought she totally "rocked the house"!!  Lol.  That an actress of her age and stature would do nude sex scenes - and what sex scenes they were! - was one thing.  But then she was just such an awesome, vindictive bitch!!  Loved the end of the last show in the series, where she is joining her daughter-in-law before attending the parade of victory over Egypt.  The Empress tries to diss her and put her down, but Attia just tells her "I see you... I know who you are, and I've been dealing with your type for years."  Then she tells her to not fuck with her!  Brilliant!!!

    2009-12-12 09:35:09.0

    Pulo was my favourite.

Me too!  I watched his Punisher movie just for him.  It sucked, except for some cool camera work.  Attia is in that new SyFy channel show that comes out in January.  I can't remember the title.  Looks pretty cool.  I really enjoyed Alice.  Hatter was sooo cute.

    2009-12-12 11:37:50.0

He was in NBC's Journeyman too. I liked the show, but like most of the shows I like it got canceled.

Yeah I liked it too & same here (about the shows I like getting cancelled).

    2009-12-12 11:40:17.0

OMG! I loved this show but couldn't remember the name! Journeyman! Yes, with the time travel and the fraternal angst! Another show along the lines of cancelled-but-showed-potential was  Amsterdam. I loved that actor. I think he would make an excellent vampire or something. Altho, I'm so anal that when the storyline archs seemed to be implausible ('wtf? how could he be married to her in the 1940s and then have a teen-age son in the 1950s?) that's often enough to get me to lose interest. Here's another random thought. James Spader. He plays deliciously evil so well. My sis and I were talking about him being on TrueBlood. Just to be anyone, really.

    2009-12-12 11:51:17.0

James Spader does play an excellent bad guy. How can you love someone because they make you want to punch them in the face? Interesting phenomenon but I feel like that about a lot of characters- take Ian Somerhalder from Vampire Diaries- so very wicked but aside from the fact that he's ridiculously beautiful, his character is a total prick but I love him anyway. In fact, he's the only reason I watch.

Oh and I totally agree about Atia. She was a fantastic character!!! And Ray Stevenson who played Pulo, LOVED him too.

    2009-12-12 12:10:07.0

I loved Attia, the actress was brilliant in playing her!

we see him back in Rome hardly batting an eyelash over the illness and death of his imported slaves - kids included - in a crate!!!  Great character.

It was definitely  a sign of the times. People are layered in character traits, and I think that the writers for Rome and the actors were excellent in showing it. My favorite was Marc-Antone

    2009-12-12 15:08:19.0

Did anyone see Secretary with James Spader and Maggie Gyllenhall?  LOVED that movie!  The dance between the two leads was exquisite, funny, poignant and hot and I totally bought into it.

    2009-12-12 16:27:51.0

Did anyone see Secretary with James Spader and Maggie Gyllenhall?

Yes, yes, yes. Loved that movie. He selects his movies well.

    2009-12-12 20:53:40.0

    Woohoo - Sami, Ashley's - Important Question:

The only was to kill the Twilight vamps is to rip them to pieces and then burn the pieces.

This went past me the other night. And I have not read Twilight nor seen the movies and I don't really want to! If this is the only way for the Twilight vamps to die, what happens if they are ripped to pieces but the pieces are NOT burned? Would the pieces reassemble, ala liquid terminator, and be as good as new?

And can the Twilight vamps be out during the day? How is this kid Edward in high school?

Okay, that's it for now. Thanks Smile

    2009-12-12 21:03:44.0

Kevin McKidd played Lucius Vorenus, the captain of the guard that Cesar made a senator

He was also in a back in the day but still a big favorite of mine... Trainspotting... He played Tommy the sport who thought he had returned the sex tape that he and his woman made to the video store when in all actuality, his buddy Mark Renton, had it all along... I did not think he was hot in that movie but he has definitely grown into it some hotness..

    2009-12-12 21:20:12.0
    DiB

He was also in Maid of Honor with the Mc Dreamy guy from Grey's Anatomy. I sympathise with you Ashley. My computer finally died a few weeks ago and now I have to sneak into my daughter's room when she leaves it to try and catch up on here. I usually get caught red-handed and given my marching orders.

    2009-12-12 23:03:40.0

Mari, to answer your questions, yes, Twilight vamps can be out during the day. Sunlight doesn't effect them at all except it makes their skin sparkle. So when it is a sunny day the whole vampire family goes "camping." The teen vamps don't go to school that day because its not normal for people to sparkle.

And yep, if the pieces are not burned then the vamp will reassemble themselves. In Eclipse (3rd book in the series) we learn that the leader of one of the werewolf/shifter packs wears a pouch around his neck filled with a handful of ashes from a vampire his ansesters killed. Just in case the ashes put themselves back together. Yuck.

    2009-12-13 01:16:33.0

I usually get caught red-handed and given my marching orders.

Really Di? I usually tell my kid it's mine until she pays the bills or contributes to the household.

I completely forgot Kevin McKidd was in Trainspotting! Probably the worst thing I'd seen him in was Dog Soldiers, that was horrible!

I just finished watching Terminator:Salvation and I think I have a new favorite pin-up boy: Sam Worthington!

    2009-12-13 02:02:02.0

    **************POSSIBLE SPOILER FOR TWILIGHT**********

Mari-The thing about the Twilight vamps vrs say Eric is some people (my hubby included) think that the stronger ones.  Their skin is very very tough and it is hard to penetrate.  As an example, to give you a frame of reference, when Bella gets pregnant they cannot use an ultra sound machine b.c the lining of the uterus is like the skin of a vamp and just cant do much with it.  The other vamps bleed and get hurt easier in general.  That is why some think that those vamps are just better.  Plus, a new born vamp in that world is way stronger than the older vamps because of the human blood stll in their system.  They had to have special trianing to kill a newborn vamp where our SVM vamps get stronger with age.

    2009-12-13 10:25:39.0

Good Morning Sami and Ashley -

Thanks for the info re: Edward and Twilight vamps death tendencies. I might do something with it. Might.  hee-hee

    2009-12-13 10:55:22.0

Hey Ash just put a spoiler warning into the top of into your message & then hit the return key a couple of times. The bit about Bella is generally a surprise to most & there are people who haven't read it. Thanks!

    2009-12-13 12:30:35.0

ohhh Laura sorry I didnt even think of that...I will try to remember that for the future.  SORRY!!!

    2009-12-13 13:23:52.0

I sympathise with you Ashley. My computer finally died a few weeks ago and now I have to sneak into my daughter's room when she leaves it to try and catch up on here. I usually get caught red-handed and given my marching orders.

Hahahaha that is hilarious! Bless your heart! And yes, I haven't been on here as much lately because of these technical issues. My computer has been running smoothly, but my internet has been struggling, of course lol.

I just finished watching Terminator:Salvation and I think I have a new favorite pin-up boy: Sam Worthington!

I loved the new Terminator! I love all of the movies, well 1 and 2 especially, but I was particularly fond of the casting. These people managed to find talent and looks! LoL. Everyone did so great in it, I definitely thought it was a huge comback from Rise of the Machines. (Claire Danes? Yuck.) These movies have strong stories, and they definitely found strong enough actors to carry it, while giving us the bonus of some pretty good aesthetics. I hate seeing pretty boys who can't act, (not that it's worse than ugly boys who can't act haha). I knew Christian Bale could, but I hadn't seen Sam Worthington in anything that I could think of, he was great! He doesn't just try to smolder at the camera all of the time because he's hot, he acts too, and does it well! It was refreshing.

    2009-12-15 01:02:34.0

Wow thanks Laura!!! Tell your brother thanks for me too! I really appreciate the information. I'd love to see him get into this because he spends way too much time watching versus interacting. Hopefully his friends will think this is cool too and they can play together. His social skills need a lot of work.

    2009-12-15 09:40:39.0

OK I have to freakin' laugh. So I am watching the news & of course it's all about the weather & the say; "And as the snow continues, the situation will deteriorate."

Seriously. I would love to have a job like that, which is... 80% of the time - you get paid to be wrong. On top of that, there is no more thought involved except being a master of the obvious.

And If the situation didn't keep deteriorating I would begin to wonder if it was magical snow. You know.. the kind that fills all the potholes of the world & I wake up with perfectly paved roads. Maybe that is what Fae snow is like or something?

    2009-12-19 23:22:37.0

BTW - Jersey Shore? Whose watching "The Situation"? I come back to the US & am graced with this beauty of MTV reality.  Ahhh....God bless America.

    2009-12-19 23:24:43.0

Christopher is in love with the handle "The situation". He thinks it is the most badass thing ever and is almost on the verge of launching a campaign to have everyone call him the situation..

Oh and on the snow front.. There is an episode of 3rd rock from the sun... The aliens experience their first snow and think it is brain sucking obliterating aliens. They freak out... and honestly that is not to far of track for happens, especially down south..

    2009-12-19 23:35:31.0

But what I want to know Is, is "The Situation" 39 years old?

And Snookie? She looks like Pocahontas with that fake tan! I have actually never seen it that dark.

Did you hear about the Italian American's protesting about this show b'c it portrays Italian American's as dumb? Here's the thing....they didn't say shit about the Soprano's b'c what? It made them look "cool" right? So Murder, betrayal & mutilitation are OK?

And now this show elaborates on the realities of a certain aspect of IA culture. It's true...I know it, have lived it (well not at all to this extreme but my family is Italian & WE DID go to the Jersey shore in the summers growing up). Call a spade a spade & let it roll...you don't like seeing the reality of it? Then change the values you teach your kids instead of trying to censor it in order to ignore it. It's bullshit.

"That fact that JowWow broke up with her boyfriend...means that she'll just feel less guilty now when she hooks up with me"

    Quote of the year.

    2009-12-19 23:45:54.0

BTW - "The Situation" just said his boy left him in "Arm's way".....i think he meant Harm's way. I love this show.

    2009-12-20 00:38:27.0

I haven't watched Jersey Shore yet but after reading everyone's posts I have to say I had a good laugh last night at the Thrashers game. We played the New Jersey Devils and looking around the arena it was like spooky....I see...orange people.... You don't see too many orange folks around Atlanta but the Devils game bought them out in droves. I guess you can take the guido out of Jersey but you can't make them break the tanning habit. Lots of product too. A person could put an eye out if they got too close.

    2009-12-20 15:23:36.0

I had a friend who was a trainee hair dresser. She put my (very long at the time) hair up for practice. You could have used it as a crash helmet lol. Anyone colliding with me would have been concussed.

    2009-12-20 15:41:40.0

LOL. I can't stand putting much of anything in my hair and yet every time I go to a salon, even though I tell them I'm really more the wash and go type, I come out with a weatherproof helmet. Why???

Oh how sad, actress Brittney Murphy died today. She was never one of my favorites but it's sad when anyone dies that young. 32 what a hideous shame.

    2009-12-20 16:06:32.0

Do you know what happened to her?  My husband said he read cardiac arrest, but I'm wondering if you've heard any more updates?  So young!

    2009-12-20 19:20:58.0

Y'all, Jersey Shore is filmed in the next town over from where my grandparents used to live...literally like 2-3 miles away. I spent every summer there growing up. My family isn't Italian at all and I grew up down south without much exposure to that particular culture other than when I was up there. But Seaside Heights holds a special place in my heart so I can't decide if I want to watch the show or not because I feel like it might sully the memories!

    2009-12-20 21:50:22.0

I loved Seaside Heights so much growing up too. It had one of my favorite boardwalk games ever - Union Jacks. For a quarter you chose a symbol & they spin the big wheel. If it lands on your choice you won an entire album or cassette! Talk about great value for money. I played ALL the time. I even remember the albums I won.

    2009-12-20 22:04:37.0

Do you know what happened to her?  My husband said he read cardiac arrest, but I'm wondering if you've heard any more updates?  So young!

My sister read online that supposebly, she had been sick all morning and was being treated for flu symptoms, and was found in the shower with vomit everywhere, and died from cardiac arrest. It's so sad, I wasn't a fanatical fan or anything, but I liked her. She didn't seem crazy or trashy, she had talent (so rare for celebrities these days) and seemed so bubbly. Anyway, I just think that it is the saddest/strangest thing.

    2009-12-21 00:03:50.0

Thanks for the update, Ashley.  Yeah, it is sad and strange.  I thought she was talented, too.  For the flu to induce cardiac arrest in a woman in her 30s seems bizarre.  May she rest in peace...

    2009-12-21 10:53:02.0

But what I want to know Is, is "The Situation" 39 years old?

So last night, my husband and I watched Jersey Shore with one of our best couple friends that is from New Jersey.. We have DVRed a bunch of them... It was a riot..

Christopher (my husband) has now started referring to himself as "the disappointment" and our other friend, who oddly enough is named Chris, has started referring to himself as "The Instigation"...

But Seaside Heights holds a special place in my heart so I can't decide if I want to watch the show or not because I feel like it might sully the memories!

The board walk beats anything that I have seen... granted, my exposure is minimum, but it was awesome... And to be fair, you would get just as good as far as the chicks at the Jersey Shore in Myrtle Beach SC... Maybe better.. Though there is an air of white trash to some of it, the toothless roach chasers down south beat all...

    2009-12-21 11:19:33.0

ha, I wish I could remember where I saw this, but one of the reviews I was reading of Jersey Shore said that what sets it apart from any other MTV reality shows is how totally crap-tastic their house is

    2009-12-21 11:52:43.0

Did you hear that Pauly, the one with the crazy gel hair, is going to do Playgirl? And don't forget that he has a downstairs piercing. It should be interesting.

    2009-12-21 11:58:10.0

Just want to wish everyone a very happy and peaceful Winter Solstice!!!  Today we stand at the balance point between the dream time and the light - I hope whatever holidays you choose to celebrate, that you find your own personal balance as we move towards a New Year!  Laughing

    2009-12-21 16:02:58.0

Or from my perspective... The pinnacle of S.A.D.... It only gets better from hear? At least I don't live above the arctic circle? The people in the tropics don't know how good they have it?

Worst part of winter is the shortness of the days... I am with Sookie on summer time...

    2009-12-21 16:15:39.0

Oh, I hear you.  I grew up in Vancouver, and it's like the setting of Twilight - perpetually cloud covered and rainy.  I constantly struggled with mood issues out there and I think it probably was S.A.D.  Believe it or not, it's better here further east.  Most days are sunny, even if they're cold.  That's part of why I love the winter solstice: it means we've reached the shortest day and we're headed back towards the sun... I live in Canada, I've got to take what I can get!Wink

    2009-12-21 17:16:50.0

Guys. I just had a meltdown at CH's forum. Here's what I posted. I removed any names.

    1040 Ancient Pythoness  Edit 2009-12-21 19:31
Ok mods. Just look at this series of nasty attack posts. If I have to I'll quote them all so they can't be deleted later. There is a clique of posters who roam this forum and feel they can attack and belittle anyone, and even go to the point of telling a poster last night that she didn't have the right to express herself because she wasn't around that much.

"asshole poster: Glad you know 'exactly' what the author meant, AP.

I'm not so sure she's really moved on. The WHOLE book will tell the WHOLE story. We can't really make much out of the short chapter we've been given. Assume at your own peril."

Then several of them wink and wave at each other (and essentially hi-five each other to continue the subtext of the attack. (I've not copied that part here since it is just tedious.) Then I responded.

@asshole poster: I think you need to read my posts more carefully, I have repeatedly said things can change. However I am only referring to the chapter we have. Get a grip and actually read what I have written. I'm geting tired of being attacked for things I haven't even said.

And I'm out of here. This forum has become toxic and dominated by posters who form attack squads to bully people. They have been deliberately misunderstanding my posts all day, so they can jump down my throat. They seem to feel they are entitled to this behavior, even to the point of lecturing other posters as if they were mods.

Then they act all sweet and suck up to the powers that be and act all innocent. I've seen this happen before at another very large forum. At that point, intelligent discussion truly ceases, and the side being bullied just leaves since nothing productive can occur. I am not the first person to comment on this problem at this forum (you'd be surprised at how many identical complaints I've come across). It's all yours now.

    2009-12-21 19:49:29.0

Oh Judy.... I am sorry... I have a great deal of respect for your post and appreciate your thoughts, even the ones that I may not agree with, but... It sucks. I agree that it sucks that there are shits out there (especially on CHs forum) that will deliberately bate you or make it impossible for you to express an opinion without being belittled AND it sucks that it does not get shut down right away by a responsible mod. If it were anything other than a book forum and if you were not able to express your thoughts or feelings in another outlet freely, I would share your outrage more, but there is here and even if we don't potentially have CH's ear, we do have a place that can be free of derisive commentary. It has been like that for a while on CH's forum and as much as I am sure it is frustrating, it is probably never going to change..

So yes, take a step back.. stay out of the may lay. Some people may agree with you and you may be sticking up for the newer posters or the people being picked on but when all is said and done, let them have at it.

If the conversation eventually gets a little ridiculous (they will eventually run out of things to say and will be working in circles) then it will speak for itself... The fact that there are people out there who get off being assholes to people on the internet is just pathetic... How small they must be in their walking talking life to feel like they have to treat people they don't know, and have never seen, like shit. But that is there and this is here..

    2009-12-21 21:54:25.0

Oh I got a lot of people encouraging me to stay, but then I got this really condescending self-righteous post from someone who wanted to set the record straight. I'm done there. I'm not going to post and won't comment about them here. The level denial is comical and pathetic.

    2009-12-21 22:02:44.0

Judy, I love reading your posts here and you have my high respect. I read your posts from last night on CH's site, but I haven't gotten to today's posts yet, working on it. I know what you're saying about the denial over there and you are doing the right thing in leaving that site. It is toxic and will only get worse. However, I will miss reading your posts over there and seeing them scramble to reply. They were misreading you every time it was to the point it was obvious they were doing it on purpose.

    2009-12-21 22:13:26.0

Judy, I am surprised you were able to handle it as long as you did. I can only take it in small sporadic doses. I hardly ever go on there and when I do, it's usually for a laugh (it's really good for that).

I agree with your decision to stay away. Let them live in la-la land. It's never going to change or get better, so there is no point.

Hey Judy, You've been disillusioned w/that place for a while so I think you should do what your instinct has been telling you to do.

It is what it is & it won't change, it's always had an air about it. I would just stay away so you don't get so upset anymore.

OK on a different note...I saw the movie Avatar? Has anyone seen is yet?

    2009-12-21 22:17:43.0

I want to see it at the Imax here and get the full 3D...

    2009-12-21 22:18:23.0

I'm going to go next week, unless I go on xmas day (I'm Jewish, there's not a whole lot to do). I'll have to see the 2-D version since 3-D makes me want to vomit (vertigo).

    2009-12-21 22:21:33.0

My sister saw it, she came home and told me it was her favorite movie ever. She absolutely loved it.

    2009-12-21 22:24:12.0

My husband and I are going to see it on boxing day.  I got to pick last time, or we'd be going to see Sherlock Holmes!  Please tell me that I will enjoy Avatar, because right now all I can think is I will be missing Robert Downey Junior and Jude Law!!!

    2009-12-21 22:25:38.0

I think you will enjoy. It is pretty stunning. James Cameron can get preachy. He got all of the messages in there. I mean all.

    2009-12-21 22:27:53.0

I saw it 2-D but would go back to see it 3-D. It was long. Some parts I felt too long.

    2009-12-21 22:30:34.0

Also - has anyone seen the trailer for the WOLFMAN movie with Benecio Del Toro!??

    2009-12-21 22:37:41.0

A close friend of the family is in the Biz as they call it here. He scripts trailers. I've often teased him about him how his job is immoral, since they are always misleading about the movies. In fact he is known for his ability to put lipstick on a pig. Many of his stories about his trailers (and eccentric clients) are hilarious.

He saw Avatar and said it was good. He doesn't like fantasy or scifi. So I never know what to think when he doesn't like a fantasy or scifi movie. If he does like a fantasy or scifi movie, then I'm more convinced. He thought it was trite and clichéd, but still entertaining. He also thought it was overlong. And he did comment about the heavy layer of preaching. And his other observation was that the story was very thin and over reliant on the effects. But that's the problem with most effects movies lately.

    2009-12-21 22:38:12.0

My guy is big on the Imax 3D so I'm sure that's the way we'll go.  I can sometimes find that experience a bit overwhelming in action movies, but perhaps it will work well for this one.  I do like action movies, and have enjoyed James Cameron films in the past.

    2009-12-21 22:38:19.0

Watching movies in 3D has scared me since I was a little kid. I always end up taking off the glasses to watch it but then I get a headache because the screen is all blurry for the 3D effect to work. But I do want to get over this fear and enjoy a movie in 3D for once. Maybe I can do this with Avatar.

    2009-12-21 22:45:34.0

I have problems in 2-D movies when there is a lot of swooping and swirling. They do that a lot now with steady cams that aren't all that steady. And CGI lets them swirl and spin away. Before I was ill with vertigo we saw something at an IMAX that was 3-D and full of swirling spinning graphics. I got very dizzy and had to take off my 3-D glasses. My daughter did the same. And I saw a pregnant woman in the row below us do the same. It really looked like it was touch and go for her.

For some reason, Half-Blood Prince made me so nauseated that I had to rest for an hour before I tried to drive home.

    2009-12-21 22:45:57.0

or we'd be going to see Sherlock Holmes!

Oh yes. I am skeptical about Avatar, I'm sure the effects will be impressive, but when it comes down to it, I can't say that I know that the story itself will appeal to me. If I go to the movies, I'm seeing Sherlock Holmes. I may rent Avatar when it comes out, but it's not a movie I've been waiting on.

I  have problems in 2-D movies when there is a lot of swooping and swirling. They do that a lot now with steady cams that aren't all that steady.

Yes! It makes me so sick. I have to look away or shut my eyes.

    2009-12-21 22:48:59.0

I call the steady-cams vomit-cams since they swoop and are jiggly otherwise. In the past I've gone to some wonderful 3-D movie festivals of old 1950s scifi movies. I don't know if I could manage it any more.

    2009-12-21 22:50:22.0

I can spend a lot of time looking at the floor in some movies.

    2009-12-21 22:53:44.0

Vomit-cams! They are! I hate it when they do the spinning, it's just awful. I don't know how everyone in the theater doesn't get sick. I too spend a lot of time looking away.

    2009-12-21 23:03:22.0

So this is sci-fi fantasy?  Well, that's even better.  But I don't like being preached to... I guess I'm stuck!  It's my own fault.  I made him go see Julie and Julia last time!

    2009-12-21 23:04:30.0

I have to agree that I'm not a huge fan of the Imax 3D, or even just the Imax.  We saw the latest Batman in Imax and I found it unsettling and overwhelming, like I wanted to push with my feet to back away from it?  I used to be so bad for motion sickness that I had to look away in Lord of the Rings when the camera swooped down from the top of Orthanc to the depths of the pits Saruman's orcs were working in.  I never went to see Master and Commander, because I'd been warned about he vertigo inducing camera work.

    2009-12-21 23:14:22.0

I found the camerawork in Casino Royale (the remake) vomit inducing. Esp. the intro scene.

    2009-12-21 23:18:44.0

Usually I do fine with anything but 3D. But I hear you guys on some of those swooping camera angles. They can be hard to follow and then of course my head hurts. I don't get sick, I just get a headache.

    2009-12-21 23:21:32.0

The new 3D technology doesn't bother me as much as old school 3D somehow but for the first minute or so I definitely feel disoriented. We're going to see Avatar tomorrow in 3D. And yes Laura, I've seen the trailer for Wolfman and it looks awesome! Benecio Del Toro will make an amazing were! He's halfway there on his own.

    2009-12-21 23:36:35.0

A Quantum of Solace was even worse. And so was the Bourne Ultimatum.

    2009-12-22 00:57:22.0

I watched both of those movies at home, so I never experienced that. I don't know what it is about the big screen, it's just so in your face I guess, there's nothing else to focus on. Very rarely do I get dizzy watching movies at home, but it seems that almost every time I go to the theater, I experience it if only for a moment. I hate it that this camera technique is so popular lol.

    2009-12-22 02:03:01.0

I have nerve damage all over my body, but the worst was when it hit my balance nerves. I can get dizzy watching TV too, but movies are much worse.

    2009-12-22 02:44:35.0

Oh my gosh, damage to your balance nerves? That must be terrible.

    2009-12-22 12:58:55.0

Wow you guys sure did post A LOT while I was gone today....So I want to say, Judy-I feel for ya over at Ch's forum and I LOVE LOVE all you have to say there and here!!

The Hubby saw Avitar and said he could watch it every day all year long he loved it so much.  If I wasn't sick with Bronchitus (sure I spelled that wrong) I would be seeing it tonight with him.  I really wanna see Sherlock Holmes and hope I will get the chance too!

    2009-12-22 19:45:04.0

I actually get a lot of complimentary PMs when I post there, but I can't stomach the bullies. I don't like the idea that I'm being driven off, but it's hard to have an extended in depth discussion there anyway due to the structure of the forum. That was a decision I made last year when I first posted there before the bullies took over. It's just a series of disconnected ideas, none of which are in depth.

    2009-12-22 22:29:29.0

Ashley (aye17), the damage to my balance nerves makes it hard for me to look at a computer or read. And I can fall over when I'm standing still. The vision problems and the damage to my hands make my online time limited which is why it's easy to give up posting over there, Ashley (EricLover).

Damn, it's so complicated talking to all you Ashleys. Cool

    2009-12-22 22:38:00.0

We just got back from seeing Avatar and I have to agree with your husband Ash, it was really fantastic. I lamed out and saw it at the drive in because I didn't feel like going to the other side of town to see it in 3D and now I'm really sorry that I didn't just deal with the traffic. Besides it's really frickin cold outside so the drive in probably wasn't the most cozy venue we could have picked. Even freezing our butts off in the back of my wagon, we still completely enjoyed the movie so you know it's good! We'll go see it again but next time in 3D.

    2009-12-22 23:07:34.0

You saw  at a Drive in!???

    2009-12-22 23:12:46.0

Haha, yeah. I love going to the drive in but it's probably not such a bright idea when it's 40 degrees out. Well that and I knew I'd be sacrificing all of the cool 3D effects too but I just couldn't stomach getting back into traffic today. We'll go see it at the real theater so we can catch all of the cool effects.

    2009-12-22 23:16:27.0

I asked my friend at work what was the best part of Avatar. She gave me the same answer my sister did when I asked her..."Everything!" Haha, they don't even know each other and they said the same thing. I think I'm going to watch it after Christmas, I would like to see it in 3D though. Even if its more expensive and even if I get a headache.

    2009-12-22 23:49:53.0

You guys are funny. I saw 3D "Up" with my friend and her 3 kids. The intro previews included some 3D movie with kids on skateboards and extreme sports stuff and I kept flinching and crawling backwards into my seat. My friend's 4 yr old was like "whats wrong with you?" LOL. I think I'm wired for the 20th century. LOL. I'm staying away from 3D movies for now...

    2009-12-23 00:24:02.0

Damn, it's so complicated talking to all you Ashleys.

I know! There are so many now, I can't help but find it funny!

    2009-12-23 00:54:29.0

I love going to the drive in

The drive in always makes me feel like a kid! I haven't been there in years probably... My whole family used to load up and we'd pack as many friends as we legally could into my mom's mini van and we'd see a movie for ten bucks sprawled out on the ground eating cheap (but surprisingly yummy) corndogs. Wow you just launched me into memory lane lol. Those were the days...

    2009-12-23 00:58:48.0

I've only been to the drive-in once!  We drove north of the city for about an hour to get there, but we had a great time.  It was before we had kids.  We saw a double feature, and brought our dog!

Unfortunately, we'd get hypothermia if they tried to open now!  It's -8 degrees celcius.  Not so much fun for a drive-in!!

    2009-12-23 09:55:59.0

The drive in is fun because you can make it a combination picnic/movie. In warmer weather people really do it up here- bring their grills, coolers full of beer,  and even couches! It's so much cheaper than a regular theater too. The total for my daughter and I last night was 8 bucks and that was for a double feature! We never stay for the second movie because that would make for a really late night but still, you can't buy one ticket in a theater anywhere for $8. America needs more drive ins!

    2009-12-23 11:05:17.0

I'm with you Tracy! Sadly, our closest  drive in is getting run down and the prices are going up, charging per person like a theater, but it is still a cool concept, esepcially with kids. It was always fun to just get there early and wait for it to get dark, people would toss a football, play games, whatever. Just good clean fun.

I have not seen the unedited version, but the sack of douche that hit her was a NY gym teacher.... Wonder if he was juicing?

    2009-12-23 22:34:18.0

    Thank you Judy.

Caro - click on the link it's 2 mins....it's not the whole episode.

    2009-12-23 22:35:08.0

I have seen the blip but not heard the, "Get your ugly ass out of our faces"... Must be juicing.

    2009-12-23 22:40:05.0

Has to be - his face is all serious Rocky Balboa.

    2009-12-23 22:40:38.0

Hmm, one of us should have photoshopped ASkars with a Santa hat! Tongue out

I really like the way you think. Isn't Caroline our pro at photoshop? Hahahaha. But anyway, Merry Christmas everyone! In case I don't have a chance to get on here and tell you guys. Like Liann, I don't want to get all sappy, but this forum really is so much fun thanks to all of the smart, insightful, and hilarious people on it. I hope you all have a great time celebrating and bringing in the new year!

    2009-12-23 23:08:58.0

Happy Holidays everyone! I've had so much fun discussing with all of you wonderful ladies. We have thoughtful, polite and humorous conversations on here, lol. I'm so happy I found this place!

    2009-12-24 01:14:41.0

I feel the same, Sami.  Merry Christmas or (insert your preferred winter holiday here)!

    2009-12-24 14:19:20.0

Happy Holiday's All!!!!  I know I have only been on this site since Oct but I got to say you all feel like an extension of my family now!  This is such a great place and I just love having all of you ladies to discuss EVERYTHING with!!!

Damn, it's so complicated talking to all you Ashleys.

I know! There are so many now, I can't help but find it funny!

I must agree, it is funny!  Remind's me of being in school and graduating with like 10 Ashley Nichole's!!!

    2009-12-24 15:08:36.0

Hey Guys-So I got these sneakers for Christmas from Sketchers that are supposed to help your posture, tone your legs, thighs, and butt, has anyone tried them?  They have about 3 extra inches of padding on them and instead of being flat they have a rounded shape to the sole of the shoe...Just wondering if they actually work or if anyone had heard of their success.  Hope everyone enjoyed their holiday!!!

    2009-12-26 11:29:53.0

Hey Ash, I've never worn them, but a friend of mine wears them all the time and she is beyond fit!  Not sure which came first, but she swears by them.  If you notice a difference, let me know, OK?  I could use a little help in that department!

    2009-12-26 16:17:17.0

So did Santa bring anyone some good books? I got World War Z, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, the first 3 Vampire Academy books and the first Butcher Dresden Files book.

    2009-12-27 18:33:18.0

I had been borrowing the Sookie books from my neighbour - she is my connection for all things vampire!  So santa brought me the 8 book Sookie set!!  Very happy me!

    2009-12-27 18:41:34.0

Oh , and my Mum sent me a self improvement book by Deepak Chopra... make of that what you will...

    2009-12-27 18:42:09.0

Oh you made me laugh! I think your mom and my mom would get along famously. One of the gifts that she gave me came with a warning, "I know you're not going to like this but you really need this in your house..." Hm, if you know I'm not going to like it then why are you giving it to me?? Moms, what fun.

    2009-12-27 18:47:46.0

Oh, Tracy, that's so funny!  I mean, it's not funny, but... well, you know what I mean!!

    2009-12-27 18:56:18.0

Oh , and my Mum sent me a self improvement book by Deepak Chopra... make of that what you will...

Change Deepak Chopra to (insert mainstream self help whatever here) and you have my mother's flavor of the month. I think that there is something to be gained from a lot of that stuff, but somehow she never gains it...  Thankfully I only have to hear about it.. Not that I would not get something (however small with some of them) out of it, but then I would be required to have THAT conversation with my mother and could no longer feign ignorance...

I will say this... Deepak is a renowned Dr. of medicine... taught at Tuffs (got that tidbit from wiki) and has a somewhat practical approach... He also did a bit on Conan O'Brien which seals it for me. You got to love a guru who does not take himself to seriously.

One of the gifts that she gave me came with a warning, "I know you're not going to like this but you really need this in your house..." Hm, if you know I'm not going to like it then why are you giving it to me??

That is why my parents just give me money... I like my mothers taste, but I don't want to dress like her...

    2009-12-27 19:16:46.0

Liann-Well I have worn the shoes for 3 days straight and so far I have not noticed anything.  I can tell you my center of gravity is a bit off cause i'm 3 inches taller now LOL!!!  Supposedly they are working my butt and thighs...Maybe after a month I will tell a difference.  However, we got the WII Fit Plus today and after an hour of that I sure felt the burn!!

    2009-12-27 19:21:59.0

Listening to the Deepak interview on Conan and he recommended that Conan do the show naked to help him loosen up...

    2009-12-27 19:23:05.0

Deepak is good - which book is it? he really helped me understand more about and believe in Ayurveda!

    2009-12-27 19:33:22.0

That and he has an implicit understanding of hormones (being an endocrinologist and all) that affect and are affected by mood and the effects that they have on the immune system and your overall health and well being.

    2009-12-27 19:41:26.0

I have hormone issues (which cause my fertility issues) maybe I should look into reading htis Deepak...hmm

Anyone see the movie It's Complicated yet? Just got back and I loved it. LMAO!  Also just reinforced what a great actress Meryl Streep is, as well as the rest of the cast, but she was the best.

    2009-12-27 19:58:01.0

We saw Avitar (Hubby LOVED I thought it was good) and Chipmunks (thought it wa sa great kid movie) I want to see It's Complicated but I think I am going to have to see Sherlock Holmes First

    2009-12-27 21:00:18.0
    LKC

My Hubby saw Sherlock Holmes last night and actually liked it. I say that because he loves going to movies but rarely likes any! He thought Robert Downy Jr was excellent.  I'll go see Avatar with my kids this week as Hubby hates fantasy/ can't follow it he says.

    2009-12-27 21:39:22.0

I'll probably see Avatar with my daughter in a week or so.

I received an amazing King Kong collector's edition with King Kong, Son of Kong, and Mighty Joe Young. It also had a reproduction of the original Grauman's Chinese Theater program from 1933. It was really quite a fancy booklet (imagine that for a movie).

I received a photosmart printer. It was funny, because they gave me a bunch of things to print on or iron transfers onto, like coasters, magnetic cards (for fridge magnets), white T-Shirts, and blank photo paper, and what I was thinking about all this time was the fact that I have a really nifty multifunction laser, but it's black and white. So I'm trying to be polite and not mention that all those transfers and photos and would look awful in B&W and I'd have to purchase an inkjet. Then they showed me the big box with the printer inside.

I have a huge supply of fridge magnets, many of which have been sold on eBay by someone who printed them from old pulp and SciFi magazines. I've also downloaded a slew of old pulp, SciFi, and comic book covers (from the 30s through the 60s), and I've used them for avatars, icons, and signatures. Now I can make my own magnets and coasters and T-Shirts.I'm going to go crazy with this stuff. Now I don't fuss with the graphics files as much as I used to since it hurts my hands, but I have a lot of files already cleaned up and ready to go.

    2009-12-27 22:11:19.0

lifes complicated i found very hilarious.. especially john krasinski? from the office.. he was on point every time with his one liners.. loved it though a bit disappointed i didnt get to see avatar.. i think ill see it this following weekend... 3hrs to sit is such a long ass time though..

    2009-12-27 22:43:42.0

Anyone see the movie It's Complicated yet?

I have plans to see it sometime this week. Oddly one of the big reasons I wanted to see it was because I just love John Krasinski, I know he has a minor role but I think he is the cuttest funniest guy. I also love Alec Baldwin, though he is just hilarious. Does anyone watch his show 30Rock?

Today I actually went and saw The Blind Side on a whim, I loved it, such an amazing story, and Sandra Bulluck was excellent.

    2009-12-27 22:43:58.0

I'm so with you Brianna! I love The Office, I watch it weekly and own the seasons. It's my favorite show.

    2009-12-27 22:44:46.0

i never realized how funny he is.. he kinda reminds me of ryan renolds in the movie just friends

    2009-12-27 22:47:28.0
    LKC

Is John Krasinski the fiance of the daughter? If so he was hilarious! Really all the cast was excellent. Also saw The Blind Side and really enjoyed it. I thought Sandra Bullock was spot on. To me she really portrayed a Southern affluent women. I live in Nashville and my neighbor is a designer. She could be interchangeable with Sandra Bullock. Oh and Tim McGraw used to live a couple of blocks over but moved away about 3 years ago. Bummer!

    2009-12-27 23:16:24.0

he kinda reminds me of ryan renolds in the movie just friends

Brianna- I get the resemblance. They both have a dry, sarcastic sense of humor. Love them both, adorable, and hilarious. Just Friends btw is one of the funniest movies IMO, it's cheesy funny, but great. Anna Farris is a riot!

LKC- I think what I loved most Sandra Bulluck's accent, it was very thick, but not over the top. I've always liked Reese Witherspoon, but I can't stand to hear her do a southern accent in movies, particularly Sweet Home Alabama (and isn't she from the south orignially? She ought to know how to do it). I thought Sandra Bulluck played it truthfully and respectfully not allowing the character to appear stupid just because she's from Memphis lol.

    2009-12-28 00:40:38.0

Hey all, I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas, Hannukka, Quanza  or whatever holiday you celebrate. Today was the first day I was able to get on here. I had 3 families to spend Christmas with and worked Christmas eve and the past 2 days too.

On top of that my cat knocked down my computer, the actual computer, not the monitor. He knocked it from the desk to the floor. So its busted now and we have to have it fixed, which probably won't happen for a long time if I know my parents. I'm better off just calling one of my computer savy friends over. The computer I'm using now is the one we are only suppose to use for work, but I have to check my email right? And of course I have to check whats going on here. Lol

Tomorrow I'm going tubing/sleding with my family. We are going to Michigan or something I don't even remember exactly where. We are staying in a hotel and everything. I'll be gone for only 2 days but as soon as I get back I have to go to work. We planned it so when we get back home I'll have 15 minutes to get ready to go to work. And I'll be home late that night, so you guys won't see me around here for an additional few days. But I can't wait to talk with everyone once again, so I'll chat with you ladies when I get back!

Have a great time Sami! Stay safe. Wink

So we saw Sherlock Holmes last night and the hubby fell asleep 15 min into it.  I really liked it, but I love Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law...he thought it was boring as can be.  We LOVED the blind side.  I usually am not a huge sandra bullock fan but this movie she was AWESOME in!!

    2009-12-29 19:11:14.0

I'm a fan of both RDJ and JL, so I'm sure I can enjoy the movie, even if I lose track of the story and simply stare hahaha. And yea, Sandra Bullock really nailed that role.

    2009-12-29 19:53:06.0

So we saw Sherlock Holmes last night and the hubby fell asleep 15 min into it.

LMAO! Tell your hubby I wished I fell asleep! I was so antsy the entire time b'c I was so bored too.

I am a huge Buffy fan, and really enjoyed all the good vs evil, personal responsibility, destiny, what are you willing to do for love, what is love, type themes exlored in it.  My husband and I actually went to a Buffy convention - part of the local version of comicon.  It was probably the geekiest thing I've ever done in my life, but we loved it!

Lunnarbunny- I am a huge Buffy fan as well and I am jealous! My best friend and I always wanted to go to a convention and never did. We still to this day discuss the Buffyverse. I am getting her to read the SVM now.  Wink

    2009-12-31 12:38:20.0

I think she'll like it!  I always enjoyed the blend of humour, action and romance in Buffy.  Xander had some great lines like when he and Cordelia were getting weapons from the army storehouse, and Cordelia questions if he's getting all hot around the big guns.  He answers "I'm a 17 year old boy.  Looking at linoleum makes me horny!"

The Buffycon was fun.  My husband bought us tickets for my birthday!  It was maybe 5 years ago?  We met the actor who played the mayor in season 3 - he was great - and the actor who plays Gun on Angel.  My husband got a great picture with them.  He asked one to act like he was punching him while the others reacted.  They enjoyed it because it wasn't the typical stand and smile picture.  It really is funny.

    2009-12-31 12:42:59.0

LunnarBunny- Thanks for helping me out!! I have been a huge Buffy fan for yrs. I started watching TB and liked it. I actually did not start reading the series until TB season 2 when they were in Dallas. Then I read them all as fast as I could. I have to say, it gave me a whole different take on the show. I do like the books better than the TV show. I do wish CH had the same level of the consistency that JW had for Buffy. I thought Buffy the series was done so well.

I really wish I could have made it to a convention back in the day. Tongue out

    2009-12-31 12:45:43.0

    Your welcome, Lexie!  Smile

I'm a huge JW fan.  I loved Firefly, but unfortunately couldn't get into Dollhouse.  I loved Eliza Dushku as Faith, but didn't buy her in Dollhouse.  Unfortunately, I don't think she has the range to pull all that off.  Can't wait to see what he has up his sleeve next, though!

I wish AB had the same level of input or guidelines or whatever for his writers on TB.  Come to think of it, maybe I don't!  I don't know what he's up to.  There are some writers and directors I love, and others I hate on it  They seem to have a lot of room to interpret so I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not.  I did like the first two episodes of season 1 one AB wrote and directed.

I'm so nervous that CH will just decide to keep milking the cow!  Some writers just keep going and going and don't know when to stop.  Did anyone read the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan?  I love the first 3, but then it went on and on with more and more characters added and time slowed down to a crawl.  I expected him to start describing each tooth as the lead character brushed them in succession!!!  I gave up on the series, but recently read where Robert Jordan had passed away, but left an outline for the last book.  The publisher and his son decided there was just too much material to do it in one book so instead there would be three!!!  Can you say cash cow?!  I've never been so glad that I quit the series as when I read that!

Yes, I really hope that CH doesn't drag us (via Sookie) through the mud in book 10! I never read the Wheel of Time, am not sure I ever will as I trust your judgement!

I found this blog, thought it was quite funny... http://singlarity.wordpress.com/2009/10/15/true-advice-romantic-entanglements/

This is from the AS thread, between LunarBunny and I.

SNUS are spitless tobacco pouches you put in your mouth.  They are far less carcinogenic and much more acceptable socially than cigarettes.  I smoked 1/2 to 1 pack a day for over twenty years and thanks to SNUS, I haven't smoked since May!  Plus they're cheaper and I use 3 or 4 pouches a day

Wow!  How are they marketed?  My dad has smoked since he was 7 or 8.  He's horribly addicted and his lungs are now compromised but he just can't seem to quit.  That would be awesome for him, as he'd get the nicotine he needed without the smoke, and it's also oral so it would satisfy that part of the addiction too.

The type I buy are from Camel (R J Reynolds).  The campaign slogan is "Sold Cold".  They sell them in a refrigerated case behind the counter at gas stations here.  There is also a brand (a lot cheaper) Triumph.  You could probably get them from the internet.  I know they aren't selling them in California (my sister wants them for the same reason), so maybe they aren't in Canada, either.  They are apparently quite popular in Europe.

You may want to check into e-cigarettes, too!   They give off a puff of nicotine (flavored like major brands of cigarettes) when you drag on them.  So they are even more like a regular cigarette with even lower carcinogen levels, but SNUS are so readily available and Camel sends me coupons all the time, so I have stuck with them.  I also fear that it would be easy for me to backslide into the real thing if I used them.

I also took up crocheting, but that may not help your dad.  It sure helps keep my hands busy, especially since ALL of my friends smoke.  Great for D&D nights.

EricLover, I got those Skechers, too.  I love them.  Did you watch the DVD.  It explains how to stand and walk in them for maximum benefit.  I have been sleeping better since I got them.  That's worth buying a $100 pair of shoes whether they tone up my butt or not!

Sanomara, thanks so much for all the SNUS info!  I'll look into it and pass it on to my Dad.

I also took up crocheting, but that may not help your dad.

LQTM  I'd love to see that!!  He'd look so cute, but I don't think it will happen.

    2010-01-01 13:12:42.0

a random thought-- i saw this picture of gabriel aubry, hes halle berrys bf/partner whatever.. anyways whenever i see his picture, he reminds me of how i pictured eric in my head-- like exactly the same..

    2010-01-02 04:04:31.0

Yeah, I can totally see that!  As much as I adore AS, and he is close, especially in that TB flashback to when he was turned, he's not exactly the Eric from my imagination.

(Confession time) the first time I read DUD, the first mention of Eric I had this image of Fabio pop into my head!  I think it was because Sookie describes him as looking like some guy on the cover of a romance novel.  I had a few uncomfortable moments of "ICK! No, no no!"  I didn't care if the character ended up being an ass or not, I wasn't going to have images of Fabio floating around in my mind.  I had to push it away and come up with one of my own.  By the time I got to the pink lycra, my Eric was firmly established, but thinking back on the "Fabio incident" makes me laugh...and shudder...and not in a good way!

    2010-01-02 11:01:45.0

Liann- Hahaha, I read the books after I watched the show so fortunately I never struggled with visions of Fabio lmbo.

Brianna- I could totally see that! Though I prefer AS, Gabriel Aubry is gorgeous. I saw a picture of him online a few weeks ago and took a few moments to just stare! Hahaha. Not that I don't do the same for AS, but needless to say, I was impressed. LoL.

    2010-01-02 12:00:52.0

yeah he has the whole long blonde hair-- defined nose prominent chin- blue eyes.. very tall.. awesome bod (you should see that man without his shirt on wooo).. idk i always thought of him as Eric though AS comes to a close second

    2010-01-02 22:37:53.0

He truly is gorgrous, but as far as I know he's just a model, AS is a fantastic actor, he's so great and pretty he could have played every character on the show and I would have bought it! Hahaha but yes, appearance wise, I definitely see what you're saying. AS has first place for me, but I'm biased because I was a fan of the show first, therefore a fan of AS. LoL.

    2010-01-03 02:29:44.0

Fabio!!!  thats funny cause I thought the same thing after Sookie said that!!!  By book 4 my ide aof him had of course drastically changed!!!!

    2010-01-03 19:00:44.0

So funny you mention Fabio! Just today I went to go see my Baby Gram (4'8") who is suffering from Dementia. She is a good faker & realized that she was supposed to know me, my bro & my hubby but clearly didn't. She gets rattled easy so we try to talk about things from the past that she may have a strong connection to (making the sauce & meatballs for Sunday family dinners, etc..).

She also loved the following; reading "the papers" (Star, Enquirer, TV guide & Soap Digest), the country singer Vince Gill & she used to read trashy romance novels & had a HUGE crush on Fabio.

We were shopping one day & Fabio happened to be in the store. I hear her scream "FABIO!!" & turn & she has her arms outstretched & she is giggling & has tears in her eyes standing @ the bottom of the escalator waiting for him like a GI coming back from leave.

"OH I LOVE YOU! OOOOHHHH I'M so excited!!" He goes to her immediately & picks her up etc...I was in hysterics it was possibly one of the sweetest things I have ever witnessed.

Anyway - so I start talking about it today & she is laughing & saying: "Oh Fabio! He is beautiful. I love him." Then looks at my brother & I and says: "Who could forget him??!"

We were hysterical. Sure...she doesn't remember her grandkids who practically lived with her but Fabio? Fabio she can't forget. Go figure.

She also remembered Vince Gill & told me; "Oh! He's a honey."

    2010-01-03 20:02:44.0

that is a fantastic, heart-warming story! Thank you for sharing it with us!

    2010-01-03 20:07:19.0

OMG that is great!!!!  Laura-that is an awesome story!!!!

    2010-01-03 20:09:00.0

I lamed out and saw it at the drive in because I didn't feel like going to the other side of town

awww, Tracy we go see things at the Starlight Six all the time too, even when it's cold and the quality's not as good, just b/c it's so much closer AND literally like half the price of any other theatre in Atlanta! I just pack blankets and make a thermos of coffee or hot chocolate. actually we generally see whatever is playing at the drive-in regardless of whether or not it's any good for the same reasons.

    2010-01-03 21:47:13.0

Laura- That is hilarious! I always refer to trashy romance novels as Fabio novels actually! Hahaha.

On another note, I finally went to see It's Complicated tonight, I loved it. Nancy Meyers ( The Holiday) always has a way of putting in a "love yourself, and love what's good for you" type moral which is awesome and unique. And John Krasinski of course was a cutie who pulled off the lovable guy perfectly. And of course, Alec Baldwin is probably the only actor who could have pulled off saying such raunchy things and making them hilarious rather than gag worthy! Hahaha. So there's my review, I always feel the need to share them lol.

    2010-01-03 22:23:35.0

    2010-01-04 05:50:44.0

I really hadn't laughed that hard since Tropic Thunder in a movie.  I LOVED It's Complicated!!!  The whole audience was in histerics by the end of it.

    2010-01-04 06:26:44.0

Laura, thanks for sharing the Fabio story.  That is so incredibly sweet!  Dementia is so terrible, I love that your gram has been able to keep such a great memory.  I'm also kind of blown away that he did that for her... makes me feel better about Fabio.  Who knew, he's a nice guy!!

Eric lovers are lusty minxes is too funny!  Well yeah we probably are but when I read Eric I am not attracted to his GP or looks or his ability in bed. I don't think about that( in the book on TB I do). I think about how he treats Sookie, his humor, his zest for life, how his vamps are loyal to him. Those are what matter to me. The other is just icing on the cake9 but I do love cake!) If you go over to CH's forum and the Bill Compton thread all you see are quotes about his times in bed with Sookie, their sexual encounters, etc. There is never any intelligent discussion about him ( well yeah or that forum either).

    2010-01-04 13:55:32.0

I love how much is made about southern gentlemenly manners. just because he said "May I call on you sometime?" What's so great about that? And if you follow it up with bringing your current girlfriend in to your ex's place of employment or telling her how much you want to "lie' with her again  while your gf is listening, well yeah real mannerly!  BTW I love how CH used the word "lie" . Could mean many things.

Okay I've moved our whole conversation to the "BIG Eric & Bill Thought's..." thread as Caroline suggested, btw way thanks, I promise we did not intend on leaving them here. We were reading through various threads earlier in search of one more appropriate. Anywho, I'm deleting my posts from here now.

    2010-01-05 03:01:44.0

Thanks guys... Now we can get back to sufficiently random...

So my man bought us a Wii over Christmas with some of his Christmas cash... My favorite game is on Wii Play. It is called Cow Racing. It is what it promises to be. We race each other on the backs of cows, knocking down scare crows and jump hurtles. I almost Wiied myself a few times laughing....

    2010-01-05 13:50:45.0

LMBO! That is hilarious, I always look rediculous trying to play the Wii. I'm decent at bowling, but that's about it.

    2010-01-05 14:01:02.0

That cow racing game rocks!  I play it with my kids and we just laugh ourselves silly!  The Wii really is fun.

    2010-01-05 16:08:43.0

I really love the tennis.  I get my fantasy pro tennis on!!!  I am enjoying the WII FIT, we got it with our christmas cash.  So Far I lost 1 pound then gained 3 LOL!! But I am diggin the "advanced step" classes

I'm baaack! I've been sick with a soar throat, nothing too serious. Been sleeping mostly for the past few days. I hate being sick.

    2010-01-06 23:13:32.0

I am with you on that Sami... I am a miserable cuss when it comes to having anything that involves a fever... AND a complete baby....

    2010-01-07 09:15:04.0

Welcome back, Sami.  Sorry you're sick!  I've had some wicked sore throats in my time and they suck!!  Hope you feel better soon.

    2010-01-07 10:40:05.0

Get well soon Sami! Glad to see your back though. Wink

    2010-01-07 11:04:21.0

SAMI!!! I've Missed You!!! I have been sick with bronchitis for 3 weeks...it sucks I feel your pain!!!  Glad you are back

    2010-01-07 20:58:19.0

Thanks for the warm welcome back everyone! I spent most of the day in bed again. I feel like I'm getting worse though, my nose is stuffed up now. Crap. I'm pretty sure I got the virus or bacteria or whatever it is when I was on vacation at the Dells. Breathing in all that chlorine couldn't have been good for my body, lol.

I've been trying to catch up with all thats been posted on here these past few weeks. So it might be another few days before I participate in the discussions. But just know I am here...quietly in the background...

    2010-01-08 01:19:40.0

Hey Sam, feel better & welcome back mama.

    2010-01-08 11:28:33.0

I watched a movie with my husband this after that I would love to recommend... 9....

    2010-01-09 17:34:43.0

Oooh what was it? BTW - I saw The Blind Side. I thought Sandra Bullock was excellent. I really enjoyed it.

    2010-01-09 17:36:00.0

It is a Cartoon about post apocalyptic society... I promise that as cheesy as it sounds, it is well worth it.

    2010-01-09 17:48:22.0

Doesn't sound cheesy what was the name sugarlips, all this teasing. Ew. That kinda sounds gross.

    2010-01-09 17:52:11.0

Beats sugartits.... I think that was a redneck term of endearment from my younger days.....

    2010-01-09 18:06:31.0

Speaking of sugar anything, I finally saw the entire 1st season of Eastbound & Down. Weren't you telling me about that one?

    2010-01-09 18:07:26.0

Oh yeah.... It is a TRUE Southern experience

    2010-01-09 18:09:45.0

    Thoughts?

    2010-01-09 18:09:51.0

On the whole, I though it was very funny to borderline hilarious. Will Ferrell, his goodbye speeches to his family when he's about to ride off into the sunset again, the BBQ, the x-ing at the school dance.....

Some parts kind of bored me but probably b'c the friend who gave it to me lives by it like it's his bible. I had seriously high expectations. For them being that high, I can say it was definitely good & better upon reflection.

    2010-01-09 18:13:02.0

He also told me it's better if I am high. I can completely see that but I don't smoke anymore & haven't done in ages. It's defintely a stoner show. If I was in college I could see it being an absolute fave.

    2010-01-09 18:15:23.0

Will Ferrell's socklessness was my personal favorite..... Weird thing to focus on, especially considering the Randy Rhodes hair, but that was classic.

    2010-01-09 18:19:58.0

LMAO! I love the penis whacking; "Aye! Stop that! That's my thing!....MINE...mine."

    2010-01-09 18:21:14.0

I know.... That is exactly what some ridiculous narcissistic red would do... It is a complete bizarre power play that some good ole boy would think was hilarious.

    2010-01-09 18:49:21.0

That's some bizarre mental picture you paint lol! It's not something I'd heard of, is it worth a watch?

    2010-01-10 00:49:57.0

I think it's darkly funny. A lot of times, I kind of sat there for a few moments & once it sank in, I found myself slowly increasing my laughter to the point where my shoulders were shaking. I'm not sure it's for everyone. I started watching it w/a couple of friends & they laughed but didn't care if they continued or not but I wanted to see where it was going, I'm glad I did.

Caro would probably be a better person to answer the question though.

    2010-01-10 04:54:14.0

I saw 9 and also thought it was great. It's very dark and sad at times but it's amazing how much you end up caring for these little puppet creatures. So two thumbs up from me too Caroline.

We saw Daybreakers last night and I thought it rocked. There were a few places here and there where I would have liked more explanation but the concepts were really cool and original. There were a lot of ideas that I've never seen in a vampire movie before so even if you're not into staring at hottie Ethan Hawke as a vampire (yeah right) then go see it because the writer did a great job of finding a fresh angle on an often repetitive genre. But, I warn you that it's gory as hell. You have to be able to take lots of blood and guts if you're going to enjoy it.

    2010-01-10 11:56:08.0

That's some bizarre mental picture you paint lol! It's not something I'd heard of, is it worth a watch?

Gee, if you ever want a clear picture of southern style Rednecks (specifically a lot like the ones that I grew up around) I would recommend. The show is based in Shelby NC which is close to Charlotte NC and all things Nascar.... It was a show that came on HBO last year... Danny McBride is originally from Georgia but went to the North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston Salem. He is a master of absurd southern with a great sense of humor.... He was the demolition expert in Tropic Thunder.. Best line, "Big Ass Titties"

Okay... Second favorite part of the show and the first time I almost wiied with laughter... After Kenny Powers loses his shit on on his brothers kid (a slightly portly blond kid who he calls blond ambition) and goes to Shabooms where he reconnects with an old friend who is all Southern style hipped out (big hippie who promises mixed CDs of wide spread) and gets come on to by the town trash who has herpes on her lip and says something like famous people make her wet in her pussy and goes to the back room with his hippie friend (not the trash... that comes later) and does a TON of coke. Kenny comes back to his brothers house completely obliterated.... He barely makes it up the stairs, knocking several things off the walls in the process. The spare room the he is staying in is directly across the hall from Blond Ambition (the kid he went ape shit on earlier) and blond ambition watches him with what quickly becomes fear as Kenny takes off his shoes, falls over onto the pull out sofa he is sleeping on and pops back up and starts beating his shoe with his pillow. The kid gets so freaked that he hides his head under his pillow. When he sucks up the courage to take a peek, his uncle Danny is standing stock still at the end of the hall and is staring at him.....

The Chick that he dated in high school that he is trying to woo... Looks almost just like my best friend from high school kinda acts like her to.

Tracy I would love love to see Daybreakers... Looks amazing. I can handle some gore...

Ethan Hawke's character is named Edward. I wonder if they did that on purpose? He's a sympathetic vamp just like Twilight Edward but he's basically the only one. Are all nice vamps to be named Edward going forward? : )

    2010-01-10 12:39:28.0

I watched a movie with my husband this after that I would love to recommend... 9....

My mom and sisters watched this movie and loved it. It's sitting in my living room, I've been meaning to watch it this weekend. They were all very impressed.

We saw Daybreakers last night and I thought it rocked.

I've been on the fence about this one, but if you can say it "rocked" than I think that means I should see it in theaters. Movies that are fun, sweet, or cute are rentals. Besides, since being on the fence about it, I'll probably enjoy it more if I see it at the movies anyway. It looked pretty cool, but I thought, I wonder if this is just cashing in on all of the vamp popularity, I'm glad to hear that it has a unique concept though, heck I'm glad to hear it has one at all. LoL.

    2010-01-10 13:49:06.0

And I've never been into Ethan Hawk, but  I've gotta admit, he looked kinda sexy in this one. =)

    2010-01-10 13:50:45.0

Cripes Caro - I only just realized you were saying the movie you saw was Nine. Don't even ask me what I thought you were doing when I saw you typed the number 9. I am such a dunce sometimes. I really am.

    2010-01-10 15:17:00.0

This is a whiplash inducing change of subject, but I'm so proud of myself I had to share.

Well, last year I bought a very nice comfy mattress and I love it. I've got a lot of pain and this mattress is a blessing, but it is heavy mother. It weighs well over 100 pounds, and maybe closer to 200. It's a bitch to even lift a little. It doesn't have handles on the side since it is no flip pillowtop. A while back I tried to put a bed skirt on and managed to dislodge the mattress in such a way that I trapped myself into my bedroom (it slammed and blocked the door), and I couldn't seem to get the leverage to dislodge the mattress. I finally struggled enough to get it back on the bed. Then I had my somewhat brain-dead on-and-off housekeeper (the one who literally ripped a handful of wood out of my dresser and nearly shattered the mirror) put the bed skirt in place. Of course she ripped it in several places, even though I told her not to tug hard on it.

I just discovered all the rips in the bed skirt, but I was fortunate enough to be able to buy a new one that still matched my bedroom set. Back to square one--how the hell could I get the skirt in place. Well first I tried levering the mattress up with a very heavy wooden cane I got at the Renaissance Faire, which I never use since it is too heavy. It sort of worked, but once the skirt was halfway the mattress couldn't be levered properly since the lower part of the mattress was sitting too heavily on the skirt.

So I cast about trying to find several things to lever the mattress. I was about to use some folding wooden chairs I seldom use. They would have been unwieldy, but it might have worked. Then I noticed that I had some thin wooden shelves (the size of 2x4 planks) that I had wanted to place my large collection of superhero beanies on (but haven't gotten to yet). I stuck four of the shelves under the mattress (two on side). It wasn't a picnic since the mattress was so heavy, but it did work.

You go, mama!  Perseverance is its own reward, right AP?  Sounds like you came up with some good ideas.  Next time, you could hire one of the guys at Home Depot and pay him $20 to do it for you.  (I'm kidding)  I really admire your strength in the face of constant adversity.  I hope I have half of it when my MS finally catches up with me.

    2010-01-12 09:42:29.0

Okay, so I got this really cool book for Christmas about Stephen King, MY favorite author, it breaks down all of the books and has manuscript pages and personal items from king's past...etc. etc.  anyway, I was reading the chapter on MISERY.  I had the funniest idea.

In the book, for those who haven't read it or seen the movie, an obsessed fan of the fictional writer Paul Sheldon, finds him in a wreck and rescues him and takes him prisoner in her own home and forces him to re-write his last book where he kills off the heroine, Misery Chastain.  I could not help but think that some deranged fan, say a BL from her own beloved site, would be a likely candidate for this type of action if CH had indeed killed Bill off in the last book as planned.  LMAO.  I couldn't help but see this all playing out.  This would make an absolutely great fanfic.  Couldn't you just imagine some of the more aggressive BL's making her change everything in the Books to make Bill the hero???

Come to think of it, this is exactly what Alan Ball has done.  Maybe he is blackmailing CH and is making the story the way he wants since he wasn't satisfied with the books???  LMAO  Just kidding.

    2010-01-19 11:36:42.0

LoL, I love Misery! I mentioned on a post a while back that CH better watch her back, because someone is bound to go all Misery on her if this ends badly hahahaha.

    2010-01-19 13:51:20.0

LMBO!!  Oh, I would so read that fanfic!  So, Mari, are you going to write it??!!

Katherine, could you tell me the name of the book on Stephen King?  My husband is a huge fan, and it sounds like something he would really enjoy.  Smile

    2010-01-19 22:25:59.0

    Liann,

The name of the book is just "Stephen King Illustrated Companion."  It contains manuscripts and memoralbilila and artwork.  It is very cool and nice collection piece.  I have been collecting first editions for about 20 years now, so It was a must have for me.  LOL.  It has a lot of cool things in it and covers the most famous books.

    2010-01-21 13:25:35.0

That sounds awesome.  I collect Unca Steve first editions, too!

    2010-01-21 15:53:58.0

Totally off topic from what you were discussing!  Not totally off topic of the Sookie Stackhouse series... (I wasn't sure where else to ask this)

I'm currently working on some fanfic and I am totally clueless about the fanfiction.net site - anyone here a beta reader? or able to give me some general info on fanfiction.net, there don't appear to be any useful FAQ responses or anything... sorry if this is whittery - I'm half way through my little bit of fic and very anxious about the idea of posting it.

    2010-01-21 16:03:34.0

    Katherine,

Thanks so much for the info!  I'll get that for him... maybe Valentine's day.  (Sorry I'm so late in responding.  We've been going through a wave of stomach flu and regular variety colds so I haven't spent any quality time at my computer for quite a while!)

    2010-02-04 09:56:55.0

No Problem Liann, Hope all your family is on the mend, been dealing with sickness in my house too, so I haven't been on much either.

    2010-02-06 09:58:35.0

Everyone in my house has been sick as well. It's terrible. Everyone has had something different, a virus, strep throat, and a mean cough. I've been on a good bit, but it's been from my bed via laptop lol.

Hope everyone starts feeling well again!

    2010-02-06 20:10:48.0

I'm so sorry to hear everyone is sick. I hope you all and your families feel better soon! I was sick a month ago, but I still have a cough. You know, that kind of cough that just won't go away.

I took the TEAS test for Aurora University last week. The test is basically an entrance exam to get into the nursing program at AU. I got my results yesterday and I passed! I was so excited! Now I'm just waiting to get a letter of acceptance or rejection for the program itself.

I studied my butt off for it (another reason why haven't been on in awhile). I have been checking in every few days to keep up with the posts though.

    2010-02-07 22:41:28.0

Sorry everyone is sick! My family is all getting over the same thing!

Anyways, my random thought is a call for help regarding a fanart project that I'm hoping to put together. The concept of it was inspired by this:

I contacted someone I hope is willing to help me put together the art...I have to think of the 10 BEST reasons for Sookie-Eric. If anyone is willing to help I'll probably continue my pleas over by the ASA thread. Please join in on the fun. Perhaps when finished we can get this in the hands of CH or that blasted Alan Ball.

    2010-02-08 11:21:27.0

You know, that kind of cough that just won't go away.

I haven't slept in 3 nights because of the wretched cough. I finally went to a doctor today, got some cough syrup and antibiotics, I'll definitely be catching some Zzzz tonight lol.

I got my results yesterday and I passed! I was so excited!

    Congratulations!!!!

    2010-02-08 14:21:31.0

    Congratulations!!!!

    Oh that's awesome Sami! Congrats.

    Thanks ladies! Laughing

And also thanks for the cough syrup suggestion Laura. I'll look for that next time I get sick. Thankfully, my cough is very slight now. But a couple of weeks ago I was in Ash's shoes. Though, I didn't stay up for 3 nights straight! You poor thing! I hope that syrup works good for you tonight.

    2010-02-08 17:26:34.0

Thanks Sami, I hope so too!

And thanks Laura, I'll definitely look into those!

    2010-02-08 22:41:34.0

Ahh... 13 hours of sleep, nothing like it. Good thing I didn't have work until 2 today. LoL.

    2010-02-09 13:47:46.0

Haha! Whenever I get more than 10 hours of sleep (yeah like that happens a lot) I wake up with a headache and it stays with me the whole day. I would really like to know why that is. I should look that up.

But I'm happy you had a good nights sleep Ash! And wow, you're a trooper! Going to work after 1 night of sleep after 3 days of none of it. That sucks.

    2010-02-10 01:49:24.0

LoL! I do the same thing with the headache! I can't take naps because I always get one then. Thanks, Sami! But I can't take a whole lot of credit, I work from home Embarassed. I lounged on my cough working haha.

    2010-02-10 14:14:15.0

Seeing as a lot of you like Pride and Prejudice as well - have y'all seen the BCC (UK TV) mini series with Colin Firth as Mr Darcy - I'm just not sure if that type of stuff is easily available in the US.

He was so good, it's the reason they cast him as Darcy in Bridget Jones Diary.

    2010-02-10 14:55:20.0

The reason he was cast as Darcy in Bridget Jones is because the character in the books is based on his portrayal of Mr Darcy in the adaptation... So the character in the book (and thus the film) was literally written for him.

    He is SO fabulous!

    2010-02-10 15:05:55.0

Oh yeah, the BBC version is available & was very popular in the states. They premiered it on the A&E channel as a mini-series movie. I have the DVD. It's one of my all times faves. A wonderful re-telling & I make sure to watch it once a year around Christmas time w/friends who love it as well, as a treat to ourselves.

I actually just had dinner a couple of months ago with the woman who played Charlotte Lucas (Lizzie's BF & Mr. Collin's wife). She was very cool. We had a lot of fun. Ironically, she is very good friends with Stephen Moyer..she met Anna P., the whole shebag. Small world huh?

    2010-02-10 15:14:44.0

Wow that is an amazing story.

Also glad BBC P&P made it to the US as it is one of my favorites as well.

    2010-02-10 20:13:34.0

Thats so weird! Small world indeed.

    2010-02-11 19:47:44.0

Hey guys, is anyone else having problems loading the Sookie fanfic thread? Every time I click on it it says there is an error. Its been like this for days and I don't know what to do.

This happened to me before (like back in october) on the Other Book Rec. thread (the first one) and I still can't read the last 64 posts. Anybody know whats going on here?

    2010-02-16 01:32:27.0

It might be too big or the connection on your end may not be strong enough? Anyone else...??

    2010-02-16 04:36:11.0

I've had no probs with loading that thread.  Sorry you're having trouble!  That would drive me nuts!

Does anyone have any good Valentine's Day stories they'd like to share?  My Hubby and I rarely celebrate it anymore.  We used to, but got fed up with the commercialism and inflated prices of everything just for that day.  As he's a pretty romantic guy all on his own - spontaneous flowers, dates, for our 10th anniversary he "kidnapped" me on a Mediterranean sailing ship cruise -   I don't really mind, but am more than happy to live vicariously through you!!  Wink  So, anyone want to share?!

    2010-02-16 11:07:30.0

I had problems with that thread a few months ago too, Sami. It also did it to our first random thoughts thread. Shortly after, there were new ones created. I'm with Laura, it's probably just too long.

    2010-02-16 13:20:18.0

    Laura...I can't access it either?

    2010-02-16 16:29:59.0

I will make a new thread.

    2010-02-16 16:30:56.0

So I had a really weird conversation last night with my Great-Aunt.  See, she retired and wanted to take up a hobby so I suggested some of the PNR series we all talk about.  I was pointing her toward the Fever series but she landed on the dark hunter, B & N had them on sale.  Anyway, so she sends me a message about how "steamy" Talon's story is.  At first I thought it was kinda weird as in my family we don't really talk about sex much.  But as the conversation progressed, she was really sharing a lot about how she enjoyed reading the "raunchy" romance novels and what not.  It was just sorta sureal.  I'm not a prude by any means, but I just don't talk about sex with the family.  Anyways--the hubby thought I was crossing a line in the aunt/niece relationship by comparing "dream" fantasy lovers LOL  what do you ladies think?  Tony would love it if you all agreed with him.

Liann~Tony and I were going to go have a picnic at the Houston Arboretum, but we got rained out.  So Tony was really sweet and he set up my reading room as an "outdoor" picnic and he even brought in the whipped cream and honey since it was now a "private" picnic.  It was superb!  And then of course, we went and saw Lightening Theif Movie--I gave it about a 6.7 on the movie rating scale.  Tony also cleaned the house for me and did a really great job!

    2010-02-18 21:50:22.0

Aww!  Ashley, thanks for sharing.  What a great guy you have!  The indoor picnic sounds like it was romantic and whipped cream and honey?  You go girl!! And he cleaned?  That man's a keeper!!!  I, myself, spent V-day at an outdoor retreat centre with a bunch of families, so there were about 60 screaming, sugar hyped kids running around us in circles all evening... it was fun for the kids, but about the furthest thing from romantic I can think of.  Thanks for the vicarious romance!  Smile

As far as your Aunt goes... I guess it depends on your relationship.  My family is so uptight and repressed that I can't even imagine talking about anything vaguely sexual with any one of them.  But I remember Ashley (Aye17) saying she's from a large family of women that talks about and shares everything, so it depends... sorry, Tony!  I can't have your back on this one.  It's really subjective.

    2010-02-18 23:06:38.0

Anyways--the hubby thought I was crossing a line in the aunt/niece relationship by comparing "dream" fantasy lovers LOL  what do you ladies think?

Well your Aunt was the one who brought it up in the 1st place right? So I can't agree that it's crossing the line (yeah sorry Tony)! Plus, you're both experienced adults. It just really depends on perspective. Everything is always all about it.

If you can both handle the topic then there is no big deal to be made about it. If one of you couldn't handle it & was uncomfortable, then yes - it would be crossing a line b'c someone's boundaries weren't being respected.

It doesn't sound like that was the situation at all though. it sounds like a fun, funny, mutual conversation between two mature, grown, consenting adults, so in my eyes - there was no line.

    2010-02-20 08:21:30.0

See now that is why I LOVE YOU LADIES!!!!  I know ppl always have my back here!   I NEVER win alone with Tony so it is nice to have girl power support!!!!

    2010-02-20 10:11:48.0

But I remember Ashley (Aye17) saying she's from a large family of women that talks about and shares everything, so it depends...

I can't believe you remembered that! LoL. But yes, we're comfortable enough with eachother to talk about whatever we feel the need or desire to talk about. We're really close, we laugh a lot and we trust each other. (This is mostly my mom, sisters, and oddly my brother's girlfriend). We're a large group of friends with the benefits of family like unconditional trust, knowing eachother so well, and no judgement. We don't have full on detailed sex talk, we keep our personal business personal for the most part, but we joke and laugh.

it would be crossing a line b'c someone's boundaries weren't being respected.

It doesn't sound like that was the situation at all though. it sounds like a fun, funny, mutual conversation between two mature, grown, consenting adults, so in my eyes - there was no line.

Exactly Laura! We all have lines, and certain limits. In my family being as close as we are, we know where they are on eachother, therfore we don't push eachother, we just leave it open to discuss what we want. I'm actually more conservative when it comes to serious discussions about it, they are too for the most part, so we never make eachother uncomfortable, we keep it light. It's usually in a more joking fun manner. Now with books, we bring that stuff up and discuss it because it's noones personal business. I've always felt that when discussing sex we should never lose our tact because it does involve another person and I wouldn't want to violate their trust or personal details.

Maybe your aunt is just establishing that trust and frienship dynamic since you're both adults now.

    2010-02-20 19:03:19.0

To add to that thought, I am seen as very conservative. Mostly because I've never felt the need or seen the appeal in opening myself up like that voluntarily. I don't actually have anything against it, it's just my personal feelings on it. I joke, but I rarely join in on serious discussoins. But if someone wanted to talk to me I would take that as their need or desire to open up, and I wouldn't mind. Just because I'm not in favor of something doesn't mean that I'm against those who are you know? It's a personal matter that people are free to feel differently on. If it doesn't bother you, then I don't think it's a problem. Even if it's something you wouldn't have initiated, maybe this is something to just be done for her. Some people need outlets, some of us don't mind being an outlet.

    2010-02-20 19:12:06.0

Ironically on this note, i went to lake charles with my family this weekend and my brother's girlfriend started talking about their sex life with me.  It was kinda weird, because well, it was my brother you know, and I don't really want to know how he likes it you know.  But we were talking and the thing that caught me as strange, here are a 24 and a 26 year old women who are basically sister-in-laws and she is apparently comfortable enough to talk to me about my brother and her "together" but when I went to talk about me and Tony, she TOTALLY judged me and was like "now that just isn't normal, that's not right, why would you allow that" etc...It really took me back because A) nothing i said was remotely crazy and B ) she started this conversation she should be woman enough to see it through in my opnion.  I dont know just caught me off gaurd and shocked me.

I think you are right my aunt was establishing that trust/friendship.  It really was no different than chatting with you ladies or my girlfiends when we are out at the mall.  I think my future S-I-L needs to get a clue sometimes!!

    2010-02-21 14:37:15.0

my brother's girlfriend started talking about their sex life with me.  It was kinda weird, because well, it was my brother you know, and I don't really want to know how he likes it you know.

This is why I love my brother's girlfriend, she doesn't give us all the gory details lol. She's comfortable with us, she jokes, but she doesn't reference sexual experiences. We don't really take things that far, but she's sure to not give us any awkward visuals.

    2010-02-21 15:06:23.0

Ashley, I agree with what everyone else said about you and your aunt. If you both are comfortable in the convo then its completely fine. Just tell Tony to chill. Sorry Tony. Tongue out

but when I went to talk about me and Tony, she TOTALLY judged me

Thats really odd. If it wouldn't be too embarrassing I'd say sit her down again and tell her what you told us. Normally, you shouldn't even bother, but if your brother marries this girl you're going to have to deal with her for a long time.

    2010-02-22 00:57:58.0

Can anyone think of a particular outfit (other than her uniform) that Sookie wears in Dead to the World? I'm trying to re-creat atleast one outfit from each book.

    2010-02-25 17:31:33.0

Just leave her naked. You know, post-shower bliss.

    2010-02-25 17:34:06.0

Seriously though, here are some descriptions I found. CH didn't dress Sookie much in DTTW and when she did, I think Sookie dressed like a hobo.

"I pulled on some jeans, sneakers, a bright red long-sleeved T-shirt, and my old blue coat."

"I pulled on my jeans and a sweatshirt before I went to the door."

    2010-02-25 17:41:01.0

hahah...yes, a hobo she is. The first one is what she wore to the witch war right? I might use that. It's a fashion site so there would be no point in having her be naked. Though, I agree she looks her best sans clothing most the time. So, it's always a challenge.

Here's a link to my home page: Sookie Outfits

I have done ones for the 1-3 books and 7. I'm working on 5 right now.

    Thanks for your help!

    2010-02-25 19:45:32.0

You've definitely improved Sookie's dress from CD! I like the whole look together, from now on when I read that -after having my good laugh- I will mentally change it to this lol. You should post your site on the Fasion Saints and Sinners what not to wear thread if you haven't, as examples of what Sookie should have been wearing! LoL.

    2010-02-25 19:56:11.0

Every time I try to get on the Book #10: dead in the Family - Speculation, it won't load.  Any one else having this problem?

    2010-02-26 13:58:22.0

It let me in fine, however when this has happened to me in the past on other threads it was because the thread was getting very full. It worked for some but not for others.

    2010-02-26 15:23:40.0

Hey does anyone here follow the role playing forums?  I've never really seen them before but its kinda interesting.  just wondering if anyone else thought so

    2010-03-06 13:08:18.0

I think it's on twitter, no?  I don't twitter... I don't even facebook!  This is about as high tech as I get!  Wink  I agree that it sounds like an interesting concept, though.  I imagine you'd get tweeted each time a character said something?  My husband follows Kevin Smith and is constantly showing me funny things he's said or responded to.  I can see the appeal of the concept, I just think the constant tweets would drive me nuts.

    2010-03-06 16:36:26.0

It is hard enough to keep track of just me...

    2010-03-06 23:13:02.0

the ones i was looking at are on fb, and i guess you just "friend" them and then follow their life like you would one of hteir friends.  it seemed different.  they have battles and sex and it jsut seemed different

Tell your brother I said welcome to the colon club.... it can be a tough road to hoe but they have come a long way in treating the various types of IBD...

Glad that you have not dropped out, and I hope that your brother is doing better.

    2010-03-11 15:14:38.0

    Thank you Caroline!

    2010-03-11 23:47:50.0

I have to share this with other SMV fans, and I figure this thread's probably the best place....

My husband and I are refurbishing a house that we hope to move into in a few months, and we just bought the bathroom furniture!  Initially my husband wanted a really big bath, which I wasn't keen on, but was prepared to go along with because I didn't have any other suggestions...

Until we'd both read DttW that is.

The shower we've just bought is the biggest thing I think I've ever seen!

(the bath is pretty much normal size)

    2010-03-12 13:26:32.0

Nice one, Ellen!!  It's nice that your husband's on the same page as you!!  Wink

    2010-03-12 16:12:12.0

The shower we've just bought is the biggest thing I think I've ever seen!

Lol!! Thats great that DttW influenced your new bathroom!

Boy oh boy, did I have a lot going on these past few weeks! My mother is adopted and she has been trying to find her birth mother for the last 10 years or so. A few weeks ago she was watching one of those shows where they reunite long-lost relatives and its all very emotional, yada yada. My mother was very touched so she put in her info on their website (but said she didn't want to be on Tv, thank god)

Literally, 2 days later she got a call from one of their people called a "search angel" and the woman told my mother that she had found her birth mother, but unfortunately, she died 5 years ago of colon cancer. But she left a husband, 2 children and several grandchildren. So I have a bunch of family in California and Ohio, crazy right?

At first, they didn't believe the search angel when she called and told them that Kathleen (my mother's birth mother) had had a child and given her up for adoption, no one knew except her best friend. Not her husband (who she married after she had my mother), not her kids, not her parents. But eventually they were convinced and now nearly every night my mother has been talking to her sister (my aunt) Stacy.

Since they live so far away we probably won't be able to go out to meet them until summer but thats what facebook is for!

Oh and this morning I had my wisdom teeth removed. Not in any real pain yet. But its really uncomfortable. Eh. Undecided

    2010-03-12 21:50:56.0

wow, that's a lot to pack into a week!!  Are you doing OK?!  One of my best friends found her birth mother and father, and although it's not been all perfect, she has been so happy she found them.  Just a lot of adjusting, and new personalities to get used to that she hadn't had all her life to get her head around.  But the joy of having tons of family, and on her birth father's side a huge, very accepting, loving Jewish family that loves her and her husband and sons to bits, has been immense!

Sorry about your teeth.  I'm sure they gave you some good drugs, though!  I remember when my roommate got hers out - she was high for days!!!  lol

    2010-03-12 23:05:49.0

I had a HUGE panic tonight. I was almost home on my commute & all of a sudden I realized I didn't have my laptop bag & I also didn't lock my computer before leaving work & I had a portable hard drive & the company hard drive in my bag there PLUS I had some smutty Fanfic up b'c I I sneak reads during lunch breaks & left the tabs up.

My & my hubby's whole life was in there & then some.

All I could think was - I am home alone, my address, Bank details, CC's, SS#, phone numbers, pins #'s...everything is on that laptop/hard drive & not only is someone going to drain our funds but it'll probably be some perv whose going to find it, open it, read the smut, get the wrong impression, think he's met his soul mate & show up on my doorstep prepared to gimp me out in the basement.

I totally panicked, I couldn't even think straight.

I went all the way back to to office to find in my bag on the chair. Thank GOD!

I also had the forum tab up & started thinking that said perv was going to post sick shit under my name. My mind totally went into hyper drive. I felt like like my life could turn into a cross between the movies The Net mixed with The Game.

    2010-03-15 19:29:13.0

LMAO!!! I am glad you found it intact and unread.

    2010-03-15 19:41:18.0

You  & me both! I was making deals with God on the way back. I stopped at each Tube station to ask Lost & found if anyone turned a laptop bag in & when each person said NO, my deals were getting more & more desperate.

It was like I was in college all over again; "I promise God I will never drink again if ....I promise that I will be the best daughter ever if....I will never freeze my dad's ebay account without telling him again if.....I will never skip class again if....I'll return that charcoal grill I stole from the frat house if...."

LOL!!!! Why, oh why, did you steal a charcoal grill from a frat house? And I love that you would have frozen your dad's ebay account... again.

    2010-03-15 19:56:20.0

LOL!!!! Why, oh why, did you steal a charcoal grill from a frat house? And I love that you would have frozen your dad's ebay account... again.

Well the grill was too good an opportunity to pass up. I was in the car w/one of my girlfriends driving home & I saw a dude running from the back of the ZBT house w/this huge charcoal grill in his arms up this steep hill & it just instantly clicked. I told her to pull over really quick & I jumped out & pointed at him & screamed; "DUDE! THAT'S MY GRILL! DROP IT!"

I didn't really expect him to actually drop it & bolt, but he was so shocked - he did. So I ran across the street & nabbed it & threw it in her trunk & we took off. I wasn't sure if it could really be considered stealing b'c I was thieving from the thief technically. That night we had burgers on it with our neighbors but the ZBT guys were coming around to the apartments in neighborhood to find out where it was. I guess the guys (our neighbors who at that point knew the story) & they warned us that they were going to knock on our door. So I quickly etched my initials into it & scratched it  all up with a knife to look like it had been long loved in the family for a while. Sure enough they came & after some suspicious words, they left & so I got away with it but they were really mad about their grill!

Ah Laura..... I think I knew you in college.... We could have done some real (but mostly harmless) damage.

I met a guy recently that I knew in college and had completely forgot knowing him in college. It would not have been so bad if I did not have about 20 agonizing minutes where I could not remember if I slept with him or not. Not that there were that many (though there were a few) just that I have blocked out a lot, it has been close to 14 years since there has been another man in my pants and to be honest, there were a few that just weren't that memorable. Fortunately after about 20 minutes of discussion where he reminded me of the details (though never asked and he never said we did not do it), it came back to me and there was no nook nook (95% sure).

On another page... watching some movie with Gerard Butler... And why God can't they clone that man and let me keep him under my bed.... He is just so damn manly!

    2010-03-15 20:56:45.0

Quick question: what is the make/model of Sookie's current vehicle?

    2010-03-15 23:01:15.0

We could have done some real (but mostly harmless) damage.

    I bet we would have.

Quick question: what is the make/model of Sookie's current vehicle?

Not sure. All I know is it was Tara's so if you pull DAAD..??

    2010-03-16 05:43:46.0

i looked for a post of this but didnt see it and when i searched it gave me an error soooo.....do you guys have any suggestions of other forums, blogs, or anything dealing with Sookie (book and tv)? i just cant seem to get enough!!!!!!

    2010-03-16 23:59:47.0

Two of our posters have their own blogs:      Sookieverse  &    My SVM Addiction

I have been on the first one, and it's excellent!  Haven't had a chance to check out the second yet, but will soon.  Hope you enjoy!  Smile

    2010-03-17 10:30:07.0

wow, that's a lot to pack into a week!!  Are you doing OK?!

Yes, I'm doing really good, thanks Liann! Mostly I was very suspicious of the whole thing with my mother's biological family. I didn't want to get my hopes up, but it has turned out really well so far.

Thats wonderful!! Thats so nice to have a family that welcomes you in with open arms like that. I'm very happy for your friend.

And my teeth haven't really been hurting that much at all. From all the dreaded stories I have heard about wisdom teeth removal mine has been a piece of cake in comparison. The stitches have been annoying, I pulled some out today. And today was the first time I was able to eat bread in a week, I'm a carboholic lol. Also, the facial swelling is nearly gone now! yay

    2010-03-18 01:01:24.0

Glad to hear it's all going well, and you're feeling better.  Yay, for no facial swelling!!!  Wink

    2010-03-19 03:20:16.0

SO just wondering...has anyone else noticied that Kate Bosworth has been all over the magazine lately. I might just be noticing her more due to AS but I swear she was nearly invisable for the last few years ...and now she's everywhere. Its wierd because she hasn't had a lead role recently right?

    2010-03-21 23:01:15.0

Yeah - I think it's b'c she is now dating the "hottest man in Sweden' about 10 years running. Damn - that women gets some fine men. I loved me some Legolas. And her boyrfirend after him was a model. Dirty hot.

    2010-03-22 05:59:43.0

She also has "Straw Dogs" coming out so I guess she'll want to promote that, but yeah, it's probably more because of her connection to AS!  And she dated Orlando Bloom?!!!  Holy crap, how much hotness can one woman take for herself?!!!  (I preferred him as Will in the Pirate movies *drool*.)  What is it about her?  I know next to nothing about her except that she looks very pretty, but there are an awful lot of pretty women in LA... I've never seen her act.  Well, she's got to have something good going on!!

    2010-03-22 10:46:25.0

just a quick question for y'all. I bought a new laptop about a month ago, and I can't get this forum to run right on it. Am I missing some software that runs it? or did I get a lemon? LOL

    2010-04-01 17:08:04.0

What browser are you using and do you know how to access your browser settings?

    2010-04-01 17:15:17.0

Internet explorer. and I am using windows 7

    2010-04-01 20:34:16.0

When I go to tangler support, it says that I cannot email because the Defualt email client is not properlu installed. What ever the heck that means. I am not computer savoy. I need to take classes on it I guess.

The site does show up, but only the top Header, it gives me options like Home, Topics, & Subscibers. But NOTHING else, when I go to topic it stays white.I dunno, maybe, I will just use the desk top for this forum.

    2010-04-01 20:52:26.0

It could be a flash player problem. Can you view any of the youtube videos? If not, you should install the flash player Version 10,0,45,2 and restart your computer after it's done. Oh and if that's not it, in IE, go to Tools --> Compatibility View

    2010-04-01 21:22:06.0

You could also check the tools and see how high your security level is or if you have protected mode inabled... if the security level is set to high it will block a lot of stuff... Is Tangler the only page you have issues with?

I can't stand explorer... It is a pain in the booty... I use firefox.

    2010-04-02 10:47:36.0

fnelong92 you need to run Internet Explorer in compatibility view. The problem is with IE 8. That will fix it for you. You just have to click the little icon that looks like a torn piece of paper up on the top in the address bar on the right side of the bar near the refresh arrows and exit "x". It will highlight itself and it will remember to do that for this site only.

    2010-04-03 03:20:32.0

I was kind of surprised by AP's (not me) announcement about being bisexual. I wonder if SM knew when he proposed.

    2010-04-03 03:25:00.0

I have this little mental picture of AB sitting thinking - 'Curses, if one of them had to be bi - why couldn't it be him!'

    2010-04-03 12:57:49.0

    Hahahaha!!

    2010-04-03 15:25:14.0

LOL!  After which he probably started trying to think up how he could get Sookie and Debbie Pelt in a shower scene together!

    2010-04-03 18:11:22.0

Hahaha!! about AB's disappointment...and Debbie Pelt.

    2010-04-03 19:13:04.0

    Or Pam?

    2010-04-04 03:29:21.0

Ok I will try those things, Thanks for helping me out. Lizzie

    2010-04-05 10:29:01.0

It worked. Thanks AP & CmaC, I can now read this site at work! Yeapy!

    2010-04-05 10:31:45.0

Holy Counter Tenors, Batman!!  That was too fun!  I think I like his high voice better than the lower one - it's really sweet.  I've heard a few counter tenors in operatic roles that were written for castrati.  I've only heard one or two really good ones, and they were eye popping! That whole castrati concept is so bizarre, but apparently, they had amazing voices and the counter tenors of today can only approximate what they used to sound like.

    Thanks for that, Judy!  Smile

    2010-04-09 16:06:22.0

Yeah, I saw that one!  It's so funky coming out of a guy looking like that!!  I find it weird he chose to sing "Nessun Dorma" which is an aria from Turandot written for a plain old normal tenor.  He's just singing it the octave up, or at least in a higher key.  Most roles that were written for castrati are now sung by women, because there just aren't enough counter tenors to go around.  Most of those operas are from the Baroque period, though, and not that popular anymore - lots of trills and runs to show off the amazing vocal range and flexibility.  The drama was supposed to come from the voice, so there isn't a whole lot of drama in the character.

Whew, sorry, I didn't mean to give you a lecture on Baroque opera!!!  Got carried away, I find that stuff fascinating.

    2010-04-09 19:29:02.0

Whoah. No worries, I find this stuff fascinating also. I don't have any singing background but I played piano for 12 years. Music has been a big part of my life while growing up. I'm relearning piano since I haven't taken lessons for 13 years.

    2010-04-09 20:09:23.0

Music has been a big part of my life while growing up

Me, too!  That's so awesome you're taking lessons again!  It's great to get back to something you love.  I didn't have a real piano for a very long time.  Just a couple of years ago my parents bought us a piano - it was such a thoughtful gift!  It had been at least 20 years since I'd taken lessons, but I found I could still play my Chopin Nocturnes - I was just realllllllly slooooooooooowwwwwww.  Still, I find it nurtures something in my soul.

    2010-04-09 21:20:15.0

I wish I could take lessons. I've mostly been using theory books and watching others on youtube playing. I know what you mean about SLOOOWW. It took me a month to re-learn and play by memory one of the easier Chopin nocturnes (c# minor posthumous). Between working, taking care of my baby, reading SVM fanfiction (LOL) and forums. After so much time had passed, I've developed really bad habits with posture and I noticed my hands cramp up quicker so my technique needs correction. I just wish I had time to get some really good lessons.

    2010-04-09 21:38:30.0

I am not sure if this is the right thread...but I was wondering if anyone is going to the may 4th, New York book signing?  If anyone is or has ever, it starts at 7pm and I was wondering if anyone had any advice on what time to arrive?

    2010-04-10 16:28:21.0

So I was just shown this at work & laughed to the point of tears. It struck my funny bone & thought I'd share in case it did anyone else. Have a great day.

    2010-04-13 08:33:32.0

LMAO!!  You've gotta love those OTT 80's videos!  The glowing eyed, demon possessed choir boys had me in hysterics when one of them flew at her... great way to start the morning.  Thanks, Laura!

    2010-04-13 09:00:14.0

"You can tell by my staring, it's a long time since I've been with a man."

"They shouldn't fence at night or they're going to hurt the gymnasts."

"It started out as Hogwarts, now it's Lord of the Flies (I hated that book)."

LOL! That was great. Thank you.

    2010-04-13 10:08:37.0

I love the end when she says: "What the effing crap? that Angel guy just felt me up" ! and "i think I lost my contacts"

    2010-04-13 12:57:45.0

"What the effing crap? that Angel guy just felt me up"

That's the line my husband started getting tears in his eyes at!  He's now saying he's going to look up the other "literal videos".

    2010-04-13 16:26:28.0

That line is how this video came to my attention. I had said something stupid which made no sense but made her laugh & that's how our Project Supervisor responded to me, with that line. I was scratching my head going; "WTF?"

So she said that she & her husband say it all the time in her house when something stumps them. So then she showed me the video. I was dying.

    2010-04-13 16:38:29.0

Does anyone watch (& like) the Vampire Diaries? I really like. I also think Stefan Slavatore Has some serious jaw & neck porn going on. IDK - it just does it for me.

    2010-04-13 16:47:39.0

i like the Vampire Diaries too!:) did you ever hear how Ian Somerhalder tried out for True Blood? he apparently auditioned for a couple roles but they thought he was too over the top. and then when he tried out for VD they thought the same but felt he could work with it.....that guy really wanted to be a Vampire!:P

    2010-04-13 20:06:27.0

that was just a hillarious video!!!

    2010-04-14 00:42:34.0

id you ever hear how Ian Somerhalder tried out for True Blood? he apparently auditioned for a couple roles but they thought he was too over the top. and then when he tried out for VD they thought the same but felt he could work with it.....that guy really wanted to be a Vampire!

I had no idea! I think he is a really, really good baddie. I think it's better in than TB & that Ian steals the show more often than not.

    2010-04-14 03:18:54.0

I was watching some Buffy epsiodes last night and Spike delivered a line that was perfect for Bill. For those of you who watched the show, it's one of the episodes leading to the big battle with Glory. On the night of Buffy's birthday, Dawn sneaks out of the house and breaks into the Magic Box with Spike, where she finds out she's the key.

    Dawn: Lurk much?

Spike: I wasn't lurkin'. I was standin' about. It's a whole different vibe.

    2010-04-14 10:04:05.0

LOL!  I love Spike!!  And I really loved the relationship they wrote between him and Dawn.

    2010-04-14 12:54:12.0

    So good. Love Spike!

    2010-04-14 13:12:16.0

I am going to see Spike at the Austin ComicCon and my friend has a shirt "Real Vampired for Effing Sparkle: Team Spike"

    2010-04-14 22:53:35.0

Spike was awesome! Most developed and most interesting character on that show. Not to mention sexy!

    2010-04-15 00:28:57.0

I am going to go INSANE when I meet him!!! I about lost it when I met Jason Dohring (Tony will tell you I did loose it) but it was amazing!!!

    2010-04-15 00:33:32.0

Holy shit. I LOVE Jason Dohring. He was the shizz on Veronica Mars! I would lose it if I saw both of them too.

    2010-04-15 03:09:18.0

Oh my god that is AWESOME. BTW - Eric & Bill...same actor?

    2010-04-15 14:14:34.0

That video was great! That wig is ridiculous.

It didn't look like the same actor to me. Could be?

    2010-04-15 15:58:39.0

LOL! I have no idea if I should be turned on or laughing my ass off. That wig is so terrible it makes the one on True Blood look real! The female who plays Sookie does a better job than AP. At least she has the boobs! Laughing

    2010-04-15 17:06:49.0

The female who plays Sookie does a better job than AP. At least she has the boobs!

I swear, every time there is a blond on the show or in this case, someone pretending to be Sookie, they are always better than AP. It's so sad.

    2010-04-15 17:20:41.0

    hahah wow that looks hilarious!!

    2010-04-15 18:31:55.0

    Hi

    wanted to pass this on!

Today I read about a new nail polish by the company BleachBlack (you can read the article and view the photo on refinery29 website) that reminded me of the scene in club dead, well, you guys will remember exactly which scene when I tell you the name of the shade: "JIZZ"

And yes, it is a milky white polish with a bit of iridescence. It's soon to be released. I am ordering a bottle and wearing it proudly in honor of Eric.:)

    2010-04-15 22:16:49.0

went and had a look at site - on the page I looked at they had a polish called Dickweed, Bill maybe?

    2010-04-16 06:05:12.0

Dovex: HaHaHa! Yep, Dickweed for Bill. But the polish is too cool-looking...oh well.

    Glad you saw the site.

    2010-04-16 07:39:38.0

somebody made a porno parody of true blood!

That wig is effing hysterical!!  And the actor looked like the same one playing Jason to me... which is really twisted!  Actually, he looked a lot like Chad Kruger - the lead singer for Nickelback.  Wonder if Chad's doing some moonlighting!!Wink

    2010-04-16 12:39:35.0

OMG!! The wig they had for the guy playing Eric made me laugh until I cried! XD

    2010-04-16 13:11:18.0

For those of you who don't know: Penguin and Amazon are in a giant pissing contest over eBook licensing and pricing (Penguin is in bed with Apple and the iPad since they will be licensing games in the near future). So far no Penguin eBooks are for sale on Amazon. That includes DITF. I've posted my solution to this fucked up problem in the eReader thread.

Amazon's solution for Jim Butcher's book, Changes, was to discount the hardcover to $9.99, which would have been the Kindle price. They automatically credited my advance order for the hardcover, so I only paid $9.99. They also credited shipping costs for people It didn't matter for me since I have Amazon Prime, which is essentially free (after my annual fee).

    2010-04-16 20:21:57.0

AP, I wonder what kind of deal Penguin has with Apple.  I personally would be agreeable to Kindle prices rising on the new releases... people can choose if they want the ebook version at a higher price or wait until furor on a new title settles and buy at a lower price.  This is a huge topic over at Kindleboards.  For me, I want the ebook version, not the DTB.  There may be some books that I would spring for the higher price (like DITF) in order to be able to read it right away, and other books I'd be happy to wait for the price to go down.

    2010-04-16 22:14:59.0

I don't know what the problem is because Amazon made a deal with the other publishers, and supposedly Penguin wanted the same agency deal. But I do know that Penguin has a big deal with Apple to develop and sell iPad games. So I think this is why Penguin is being difficult. I know this is a big issue, and there is no information as to why there is a hold-up or when they might expect a resolution. I figure since Amazon was able to come to an agreement with the other publishers, that Penguin is the problem.

    2010-04-16 23:45:28.0

Good insight, as usual!  You're probably right.

    2010-04-17 03:19:18.0

This is a bit old but my brother in law mentioned it today so I had to view and share. Sorry if it's been posted before.

Hahaha!!! "I *BEEP* the spiders on the wall." Eww!

    2010-04-17 03:44:24.0

    LOL! That was awesome!

    2010-04-17 11:38:03.0

Well you know, vampires and their stamina!

    2010-04-17 14:23:35.0

I just found this on Urban Dictionary.com

    Sookie

A moderately slutty telepathic fangbanger from the TV show True Blood.

Hey, Sookie, why are reading my mind, you moderately slutty fang-banger?

    ___________

Sookie, Sukie, Sukee - An easy woman. Easily scored pussy. Cross cultural languages all relatively carry the same meaning. Native languages imply "other pussy" as well as "gullible pussy". All are meant as derogatory toward the one called.

    She's my sookie!

I call her sookie and she thinks it's a compliment!

    2010-04-21 13:23:32.0

    Eric Northman

Fictional character from the television series "True Blood". Eric is a 1000+ year old vampire of scandinavian descent.

I don't really feel like explaining his lifestory but I'll tell you this, unlike Edward Cullen from Twilight, Eric is a badass motherfucker! He's arrogant, confident, witty, and a douchebag but it's what makes him fucking awesome. He also dresses well. He just oozes of coolness. Loves to wear leather jackets.

One of the only dudes who can wear flip-flop with jeans, a v-neck t-shirt and not look like a flaming faggot.

Can be put in the same category as Jason Staham when it comes to the few men that it is okay for straight men to have a crush on.

    Eric Northman: "Humans..."

hey guys this is random so i think im in the right place......i pre-ordered the book on Amazon and they say that if a lower price comes up they will give my back the difference. I was wondering if they wait until the very end to charge you, b/c i havent been charged yet and ive never pre-ordered haha.

    2010-04-22 13:29:44.0

Hey Natalie - yeah, they usually wait but you know last couple of times I pre-ordered, it didn't come through in the end & then I had to go back & re-order. Make sure you definitely check out in order to get the lowest price.

    Ash that is hilarious!

    2010-04-22 14:03:26.0

    ok will do. Thanks Laura!

    2010-04-22 18:23:14.0

They will bill you with the lowest price when they ship the book. They may not notify you when the price drops, but you'll get the lower price when they ship. That's happened several times to me now, so I no longer worry about it on books that I pre-order. They send you an email upon shipping that states you've gotten the lowest price. And last month, when they dropped the hardcover price of Jim Butcher's book Changes at the very last minute due to the Kindle/Penguin bullshit, they did automatically drop my price to $9.99 without my needing to do anything about it.

Occasionally, they put in an early, somewhat sketchy, listing for pre-order, and then they supersede later on it with a more complete one (cover picture, page count and some other details, including a review or two). So, if you'd actually tried to get a listing based on the link in your pre-order, you'd find that page missing. That happened to me once with one of the Harry Potter books. I did have to reorder to get that pre-order to work. Mostly, that doesn't happen.

I've been surprised with how many low price changes I've gotten in my email without any idea that the price had dropped.

Tonight, I'm going to Chicago for an Angels & Airwaves concert! I'm so excited! Its going to be the first concert I've gone to since I was 13.

    2010-04-24 14:50:40.0

    Aw! Have fun, Sami.

    2010-04-24 15:04:04.0

Thanks Ashley. I've been listening over and over to their new album lately.

    2010-04-24 15:33:58.0

They have a new album out? Man I better go listen!

    2010-04-24 20:34:02.0

I don't see it on Itunes. What's the name of the album?

    2010-04-24 20:37:39.0

Just got back home. Concert was amazing!!! Laughing They played all my favorites of theirs. I was about 2 feet away from a mosh pit, so that was scary lol. There were tons of guys there that kept saying that they wanted to do Tom (the lead singer). I would think it would be the woman screaming that, but no, it was the guys. Weird. SmileTongue out

I was so excited when they played "Lifeline," thats from an earlier album, I know all the word to that one.

The album is called "LOVE." I couldn't find it on iTunes either, I think because the band is giving it away for free. You can download it on their website. http://modlife.com/angelsandairwaves

    2010-04-25 03:57:36.0

Hey, my geography sucks if I haven't actually travelled to the location - I'm not really sure which state is next to which -  but I'm wondering if all of you ladies that live in the southern US are OK in the wake of all that tornado activity?!  It looked really, really bad, so I'm hoping you're all OK?

Believe it or not, we actually had a tornado pass over downtown Toronto last year.  We heard the warnings on the TV and radio to take shelter in a basement or something and I kept thinking "But they don't really mean it would touch down here."  It didn't actually touch down, but it was really freaky and the light was so strange after it passed.

    2010-04-25 09:13:26.0

    Hope everyone is ok there.

There's freaky weather everywhere lately- when my Mum was up staying with me last year she photographed a waterspout on the sea from my kitchen window:( that's not common in Scotland!

    2010-04-25 09:26:51.0

Wow - I just went on the news online to read & watch video. I hope any posters from Mississippi are safe & sound.

    2010-04-25 09:31:28.0

I'm off on a 90's kick lately. A year or so ago, I thought it would be funny to blast this song on the stereo while my husband was driving through a taco bell. His brothers were in the backseat and my son in his baby car seat between them. I turned it up so loud so EVERYONE around us could hear it and I wouldn't let my husband turn it down. While we were picking up our food, I barely kept myself from busting out laughing while the drive through guys tried their darndest to keep a straight face. My husband's was really really RED. I know...real mature! LOL.

    2010-04-29 14:24:49.0

After listening for a few mins, it is soOOOO obvious that it's a joke. It's got to be.

    2010-04-29 23:40:33.0

LMAO!!  Judy, that sounds like something my husband would do to me!  Taco Bell Hell takes on a whole new meaning!! LOL

I just didn't have the patience to listen to much, but I'm thinking that that guy complaining about Twilight must be pulling a hoax.  Otherwise, it's just too sad and pathetic... and he sounds suspiciously like Bill Clinton to me!  Wink

    2010-04-30 09:42:35.0

I did not listen.... No patience, BUT I know that a ton of people have issues in there relationships because chicks read books like twilight where the guy is gunning hard for the girl and making a huge stink over how much he loves her and those chicks look at their own relationship, which years of comfort has turned into an old chair. Dudes still love it, but the chick is constantly trying to put a slip cover on it or some decorative pillows. If left too it, the dude would never do anything to it until it began to fall apart and then he would go to heroic measures to try to keep it...

Chicks read about how some guy is always doing something romantic and they look at their own tired husbands and get pissed because he has settled in and put the romance on a nearly unreachable shelf because he thinks it is no longer necessary.

The irony is, if a dude reads twilight, he does not relate it back to himself or see what is or is not in his relationship.... NOW if a dude watches a porn you know he is thinking, "Why doesn't my wife blow me like that?"

    2010-04-30 10:05:53.0

The irony is, if a dude reads twilight, he does not relate it back to himself or see what is or is not in his relationship.... NOW if a dude watches a porn you know he is thinking, "Why doesn't my wife blow me like that?"

I am still laughing too hard to spell correctly, so all I will say is....Exactly!

    2010-04-30 12:10:23.0

Judy, that sounds like something my husband would do to me!  Taco Bell Hell takes on a whole new meaning!!

Liann my husband is a major introvert so it's too easy! Come to think of it we haven't been a taco bell in a while. He's the one to ask for it usually.

I think the show was kind of crappy anyways, sound was on and off, not to mention the guy just sounded too pathetic for it to be real. It made my husband snicker a few times though.

NOW if a dude watches a porn you know he is thinking, "Why doesn't my wife blow me like that?  + and he sounds suspiciously like Bill Clinton to me!

    2010-04-30 12:36:30.0

    LOL!

Where is everybody? I can barely function and come here for therapy... and it's the lull before the storm here... are we all biting our nails in private?

    2010-04-30 21:46:44.0

Actually, I'm struggling trying to create a Facebook page that my friends tell me is long overdue, but I just keep thinking how I would rather be on this site instead!!!  I'm just trying to keep busy, too!  Yell

    2010-04-30 21:52:29.0

Well, keeping busy is what Pam advices:)

    2010-04-30 22:25:13.0

I'm going to migrate to Facebook some time soon. I've been on LiveJournal for years and my friends are dwindling there since many have left for Facebook. Some still post on LJ and Facebook. I just don't feel motivated yet. I literally have only so many keystrokes in my hands every day (they get painful and start to spasm) so if I'm posting here and a couple of other places, I don't really have wherewithal to set up a page. I'll keep posting here of course as a priority.

    2010-04-30 22:40:48.0

On Laura's request I've moved my comments over hear. It is a continuation of the book availability discussion. My Amazon books usually come in the morning or early afternoon (I have Amazon Prime and they always give me release day delivery even if they aren't offering on the website). I will be getting the audiobook at midnight from iTunes. That's Monday at midnight (yeah I know it's technically Tuesday). I haven't canceled my ebook from B&N yet. But I think I can get it "elsewhere" the next day so I'll take that into consideration.

Funny thing is that Audible will have the audiobook on May 4th, maybe in the morning around 8AM. Sometimes it's been in the afternoon, but Changes was there first thing in the morning, although DAG was in the afternoon. I think they time that by timezone. So folks on the east coast may get it earlier than me. I may eventually cave and buy it from Audible, even though I have the iTunes version, because Audible gives you an infinite library for re-downloads and iTunes gives you the middle finger if the file is damaged later on or you discover the damage later on (I had to repurchase a Rumpole audiobook when that happened). I have a complex back up system that keeps multiple copies of my audiobooks and this problem is unlikely to reoccur (if I listen to the file immediately and check for damage--which of course I will with DITF), but I like idea that Audible has my back.

    2010-04-30 23:06:08.0

I am having a lot of trouble with time-outs. There are threads I cannot read or post - they will not load. I guess they are quite large. Want to comment, but most times it's difficult - more like the spin of the wheel -if I am lucky.

    2010-05-01 08:27:50.0

Tell me which ones so I can close them & start new ones.

    2010-05-01 11:40:46.0

It really is like a ghost town here. Where is everyone?

I have so much homework I need to do this weekend because I know Tuesday and Wednesday I'm going to be totally useless. But I still constantly check the internet to see if there are any updates. Tongue out

    2010-05-01 12:10:41.0

Oh, sadly, today I'm not going to be around much. Not until later tonight, got to work.

    2010-05-01 12:11:36.0

LOL....it must be nice weather this weekend.

    2010-05-01 12:12:54.0

Its not bad where I am. Sweatshirt weather, perfect for me. Smile

    2010-05-01 12:26:05.0

When the fever from "Dead in the Family" subsides a little, I'd love to hear about everybody's favorite audiobooks ( that's related to Judy's - Ancient Pythoness'- reply in "Sony or Kindle". I am completely addicted to Audible, and would be very curious about your tastes in it.

I keep checking here, when the right strategy really would be to do work:)

Judy, I hope your hands rest and feel better!

    2010-05-01 13:11:09.0

Imb1309: I think it is my connection at home, which must be slower than the one I am using now at the library, because I am not having any problems at the moment. Thank you, but I don't think it is your end at all.:)

    2010-05-01 14:13:57.0

It is pretty quiet today. I've kept busy by cleaning up old posts on my facebook page and found one I almost forgot about. I don't know how many of you are Robert Pattinson fans. He's a bit young for me. I'm in my 30's so I don't have the same appreciation for him as I do for AS. Anyways, my sister in law had the opportunity last year to interview Pattinson and did a great job of it if I may say so. The problem was the video didn't turn out so great and she asked my husband if he can fix it because it was very very dark. He tried but failed (we didn't have the right software to do it) so we forgot about it. She did get it fixed somewhat and it did get posted but I didn't check until I saw my facebook page. She said he was really really good looking in person and smelled like cute guy in leather. LOL.

    2010-05-01 18:01:28.0

It's been weird and awful here in LA. We've had wicked winds and it's been downright chilly (in the 40s). I was in a McDonalds drive-though line last night, and, even with a wall on one side and McDonalds on the other, a gust of wind ferociously rocked my car while I was in line. This kind of weather sets off my vertigo so I've been dizzy (which also fucks up my vision).

    2010-05-01 22:03:18.0

Sorry you're not feeling great, Judy!  It coming to something when you can't even rely on good weather in LA!!  Our weekend is screwed here in Toronto - we were supposed to be having a school family outing to an amusement park on the islands tomorrow, but it's going to rain.  It also rained most of today, and is windy as well.

Weather seems strange all over.  Gee was talking about a water spout she could see in the ocean from her window.  Spring greening usually doesn't take place here until early to mid May - it started here at least 2 weeks ago.  My mum says that the weather in Vancouver has been really weird as well... it's a bit unnerving, to be honest.  Frown

    2010-05-01 22:26:14.0

We have two seasons, spring/summer and fall/winter. But in between we can get very changeable weather which does bother me. Yesterday when I woke up, I literally bounced between the two walls in the hall going to the bathroom. Then the room kept spinning while I was busy sitting on the porcelain throne (with my eyes tightly shut). Fortunately I don't need to see to listen to audiobooks. So I will probably be able to enjoy DITF (unless I have to take my two vertigo medicines which put me to sleep). They said the strange weather would be leaving in a day or so, so maybe it will be gone by Tuesday.

    2010-05-01 22:35:39.0

I really hope so!  That must be so very frustrating and annoying.  Hope it's all to rights for you soon!  Smile

    2010-05-01 22:39:46.0

I've been like this for 10 years so I'm used to it. But it can get frustrating at times.

    2010-05-01 22:54:43.0

Oh Judy that's horrible. I hope you do feel better soon.

    2010-05-01 23:43:36.0

My television just exploded... literally!!! I was watching Doctor Who, and the damn thing made this really loud crack. I mean as loud as a gunshot. And then it started making a loud humming vibrating sound like a jet plane. I tried to turn it off, but it kept turning itself back on. So then I just pulled the power cord. It was a DLP wide screen HD TV. I've had it for maybe five years. It cost $2200 and now I can get a bigger box for around what it would cost to fix it.

    2010-05-01 23:44:59.0

Thanks for the good wishes everyone. I'm sorry to complain so much.

    2010-05-01 23:46:32.0

Was it a samsung tv? we also have a dlp.

    2010-05-01 23:47:36.0

if you bought it 5 years ago, you definitely paid a lot for it compared to what you can get now. We got it as a pre-order also and have already replaced the bulb. Bet your bulb blew and busted your colorwheel.

    2010-05-01 23:49:16.0

I'm 62 and I've seen a lot of TVs fail; all in odd ways. But this was certainly the most dramatic.

    2010-05-01 23:49:42.0

That sucks!  It would have really flipped me out - it sounds like the machine acted like it was possessed!

    2010-05-01 23:50:22.0

My husband said the colorwheel spins over 10,000RPM so that is your humming noise. He was the one to fix the bulb in ours so he's seen the insides.

    2010-05-01 23:52:46.0

I've been waiting for the bulb to blow. It still lights up, but boy is it crazy. I'm going to have to go out tomorrow and shop, and I may still be dizzy. And I think my DVR is going to overload and drop programs I need to record. Most of them I can get online I supposed and if they aren't ABC shows I can get them on demand later one. I guess there's Hulu and iTunes also, as well the channel websites.

And since I wanted to pull an all-nighter once I got the audiobook at midnight, I didn't really want to go out at all... except to get munchies for my marathon listening session.

    2010-05-01 23:53:34.0

So can he come to LA to fix my box? Tongue out Otherwise it's going to cost too much and I'd rather buy a new flat screen.

    2010-05-01 23:54:46.0

The way it wouldn't turn off was reminiscent of nightmares where you keep trying to get something to work and it won't.

    2010-05-01 23:55:49.0

LOL. He's actually been asking me to make a trip out to southern-cal. His father and sister live there and he wants to take our kid to disneyland. But if you wait for him, you'll be waiting for a while. My husband takes FOREVER to fix things around the house. We were w/out a TV for about 3 months before he got to fixing it.

    2010-05-01 23:56:32.0

Reminds me of some of the servers I see crashing repeatedly. Happens all the time when a board goes bad. Plus I've seen my samsung doe strange things like reboot itself while we're watching a show...so ODD...

    2010-05-01 23:58:21.0

I had figured I could replace the bulb when it blew. But this is too weird for me to want to screw around. When I was a kid (late 50s early 60s), my mother and I would repair our TV. It was all vacuum tubes at the time, but we would work from a guide and replace tubes by trial and error. I've always been very mechanical (repaired my bicycle and typewriter as a kid and my cars as an adult) and I guess I got it from my mother. So it was only a progression to network engineer and onward to technical architect (because I'm good with hardware and software).

    2010-05-02 00:00:14.0

I've seen possessed servers too. It's even worse to be working late at night all alone on a crashed system. It really seems possessed then.

    2010-05-02 00:01:38.0

Network? Cool. I almost went that route. I was offered training by either Cisco or Sun. I chose Sun Solaris. I've spent many nights on possessed servers. Not fun.

On another note. My husband said to try a new tongue twister.

Stark Stak-ed Sookie Stackhouse (fast 10 times). I FAILED.
My brother in law FAILED too - So it's not just me! LOL

    2010-05-02 00:04:00.0

oh wow! thats the definition of a tongue Twister! lol

    2010-05-02 00:05:17.0

I've decided I won't replace the TV until after I've listened to DITF and had a few of days to discuss it. I need to do a lot of research to figure out what I want to buy and that usually takes about a week of surfing and physically looking at things. And I won't be able to focus on it right after the book release.

I do tire easily, so I won't be able to manage field trips every day. Besides with the spring changeable weather, my vertigo will be bad. So I'll just have to find my favorite shows online since my DVR will get filled up and start dumping things.

I may swing by Best Buy tomorrow, but I won't be ready to make a purchase. Although, I may find some things I'll want to research. Then I may have to go to IKEA since the size TV I want won't fit on my current TV stand. I guess it will depend on whether they have reasonable TV stands at Best Buy. I'll probably have to use them since other discount places like Walmart aren't offering to carry off my 70 pound TV. I don't think I'll go for a wall mount since I only have one spot the TV can go, and if the stud isn't in the right place, I wouldn't be able to hang it.

    2010-05-02 05:57:50.0

Have you guys seen this? I mean...you can't argue with this. It makes a great gift.

I think my favorite line is: "The same type of fabric, used in the military to protect from chemical weapons.

    2010-05-02 11:46:19.0

That was hilarious. Now for the unfortunate truth. My ex-husband had a serious farting problem. But he wasn't embarrassed by it at all. In fact he could fart on command and would make a big deal about drawing our attention to it by commenting on its smell. And if we were arguing he would fart in my face. Notice I said he was my ex-husband.

    2010-05-02 11:51:15.0

Because of Mother's Day sales I was able to decide on a TV even though I hadn't wanted to put in the effort. But it could have been delivered on May 5th and I wasn't sure I would be finished with the audiobook. If I get vertigo I may sleep quite a bit due to the mediciine. And besides if I'm done, I'll be posting here about the book. So I actually delayed the delivery date to accomodate my book reading. Embarassed

    2010-05-02 13:38:05.0

It is hard to believe it is less than 2 days away.  I am so pathetic!  I have just cleaned out all of our closets and put away winter clothes!  Anything to keep busy!  And to avoid the spoilers!

    2010-05-02 15:57:46.0

I've been trying to read in order distract myself. I didn't want to get into anything too heavy since DITF will put anything else on the back burner. Laura recommended a book, which is the first in a new series (at the moment, there is only one book). It's called Tempest Rising in the Jane True series. So far it's kept me distracted and away from spoilers.

    I might bake something...

    2010-05-02 16:05:49.0

I already made dinner, and monkey bread for dessert!  Any other suggestions?  Ha-Ha!  This will be the cleanest house on the east coast by Tuesday 9am!  It's a good thing too, because I don't think I will do anything but read when I get it!

    2010-05-02 16:10:55.0

    Do your nails yet?

    2010-05-02 16:11:29.0

That's a good one!  Thanks!  Maybe a pedicure too!

    2010-05-02 16:12:33.0

You're welcome. Do the whole enchilada. That'll use up a good block of time.

    2010-05-02 16:14:12.0

Damn...we have a bunch of perv's inventing HSN products. Hilarious!

    2010-05-02 18:50:43.0

Just wanted to let everyone know... I went to Barnes & Knoble just now, I thought what if they put it out!  They didn't, but I asked about reserving a copy.  They looked it up and they have 72 copies coming in and there are 50 reserved!  Thank goodness I asked.  They wouldn't let me pre-pay but they said they will have a copy behind the counter with my name on it.

    2010-05-02 19:46:50.0

Amazon is preparing to ship mine. They have several distributors they use in LA, and sometimes things I order at midnight show up on my doorstep the next morning. It's actually a little creepy. It all depends on who they use for delivery. Generally, when they use a local service (sort of like a mini-UPS for California) it shows up very early. The real UPS can take an extra day and show up in the very late afternoon. Or they can Fedex and it comes early too. I get the feeling Fedex costs them the most, they fall back on it the least.

I will be listening to the audiobook anyway. The print book (and eventually the ebook) are so I can look up things to reference for backtracking and quotes.

    2010-05-02 19:54:05.0

Amazon is preparing to ship mine too. I'm hoping they send it off tonight. I'm so anxious!

I just got back from a DITF hunt. I went to Borders, Walmart, Target some other places but none of them had it out. I asked some of the associates but they all said a variation of "We don't have it" or "It'll be here Tuesday."

I think I'm going to try some more stores tomorrow. One of these places has to slip up and put it out early. I've seen some people on other sites who've said their bookstores put it out yesterday or today.

    2010-05-02 20:08:02.0

It's shipped and they are predicting a May 3rd delivery. OMG OMG OMG. I'll actually have to read the text. I can, but I get dizzy and get eyestrain headaches. And I have to read really slowly since my eyes jump around and don't stay on the line, and they blur out of focus. My hands hate managing the pages. But if it's here, I'll read it.

    2010-05-02 20:08:51.0

    OH!!! I'm so jealous!

    2010-05-02 20:10:13.0

Try a large grocery chain. They play fast and loose with that stuff. I got a few Harry Potter books early because of that.

    2010-05-02 20:11:32.0

Judy, I'm green with envy right now. Lucky you!

The upside to getting it early allows you more time to read slowly.

    2010-05-02 20:14:50.0

I went to Mennards (sp?) and 3 Jewels too. *Sigh* A person from each Jewel told me they have "other people" who come in and stock the books. One of them said the people only come in on Wednesdays. I know of a few other grocery places I can check though.

    2010-05-02 20:15:08.0

And try some chain drugstores too. Although they may only be stocked once a week. It was like that in my father's store, but he was a private owner. The big chains may restock more often.

    2010-05-02 20:16:51.0

Ah yes, the drugstores. There are several I can check. I also went to 1 Walgreens. Can you see how obsessed I am? Wink

    2010-05-02 20:18:00.0

Ok, I've signed up for a text message when the book is out for delivery. I'm not going to be out-obsessed by anyone.

    2010-05-02 20:24:05.0

I really should have pre-ordered! I never do because I want to be able to have the book in my hands as soon as possible and with pre-ordering I never know if it'll get to my house on the day of release or not. But I also like the feeling I get when I see a book I've been waiting for on the shelves for the first time. Laughing

I've had 2 dreams where DITF is on a shelf in a bookstore and I open it and start reading but then I wake up. Cry

    2010-05-02 20:29:50.0

BTW they're using the chain that delivers early in the morning. I guess I better get a good night's sleep tonight. The reason why it's arriving a day early is the local delivery service that delivers really fast. If they had used UPS, it would have arrived late on Tuesday (around 7PM). Crap, I have to run out and buy all my snack goodies now instead of tomorrow. I'm already tired from all the TV shopping and stuff like that.

    2010-05-02 20:31:07.0

Good to know, Judy. I keep reloading the "Your Orders" page hoping it'll say it's been shipped.

    2010-05-02 20:33:54.0

I've had annoying things happen with pre-orders, like they come really late. One time a Harry Potter book came very late on release date. And one time I used B&N (I think the next year since Amazon had screwed up) and one of the Potter books didn't come until two days later. In both cases I fussed and they refunded my purchase price. Now I have Amazon Prime and it is addictive. Things come so fast.

    2010-05-02 20:35:30.0

I seriously cannot focus on anything but the thought of having this book. I really need to study for my finals but I just can't concentrate. I think really soon I'm going to try to force myself to study...yeah...soon...

    2010-05-02 20:37:52.0

I'm glad I got the TV purchase out of the way, since not having it resolved would have been eating at me in the background.

    2010-05-02 20:39:04.0

hahaha Sami, hey are you going to get the book book or are you going ot need a pdf for your kindle for DITF?

    2010-05-02 20:39:30.0

I got Amazon Prime specifically for DITF. Hopefully, I don't get let down. I'm already neurotic just thinking about reading it.

Sami - study in intervals. Study for a specific length of time, go back to daydreaming for a few minutes, then study again.

I think Sami needs a tranquilizer.

    LOL!

    2010-05-02 20:41:41.0

Oh, I def still need you to send me it Ashley! Laughing I just really want to see if I could get it early, but I'm not having any luck.

I think Sami needs a tranquilizer.

    Yes, yes I do.

    2010-05-02 20:41:53.0

Well Sami my friend should have it to me Mid day monday so I can email you the PDF or when I get home and confert it to Kindle format send it to you then.  Which ever

    2010-05-02 20:45:15.0

Sami - study in intervals. Study for a specific length of time, go back to daydreaming for a few minutes, then study again.

Good advice, Ash. I'll do my best.

OMG!!!!! ARE you serious!! MID monday?!! AHHH

    2010-05-02 20:46:08.0

    sorryy tuesday

    2010-05-02 20:46:27.0

i was reading somethign that said monday LOL

    2010-05-02 20:46:38.0

You almost gave me a heart attack! Laughing Tongue outI'm better now.

    2010-05-02 20:47:03.0

    sorry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    2010-05-02 20:47:18.0

Its Ok!! We make mistakes sometimes, I'm just grateful to get it on my kindle at all!

    2010-05-02 20:47:54.0

oh i know!!! this lady is very nice to get it to me.  VERY thankful

    2010-05-02 20:48:24.0

Send her my GIANT appreciation! And of course I am very grateful to you Ashley!

    2010-05-02 20:49:43.0

Now I want to re-order from amazon.  I canceled my order because it said it wouldn't ship until may 10.

    2010-05-02 21:16:45.0

i pre-ordered from amazon and it also said it wouldnt arrive until May 7-10...so i plan on buying it on Tues then return it when i get mine haha...the only downside is that i have school until 2pm on Tues! i dont know if ill be able to get through my day without thinking about the book!

    2010-05-02 21:50:16.0

I guess you bought it on Supersaver. Those books tend to ship slow unless there is a release day exemption.

    2010-05-02 22:52:31.0

So I go over to CH's website and post for the first time in a long time and I get pounced on by a mod. Just amazing.

    2010-05-03 01:39:19.0

What did you say? Why did you even bother? I thought you gave up on the zealots...

    2010-05-03 01:44:43.0

All I did was post about how my book may arrive a day early because of the local shipper being used. Then I received a polemic about how these early sales are hurting CH's sales figures for Best Seller status. But that's not true because anything Amazon is shipping this weekend will count as a release day sale. I sent a PM back about the fact that I will have bought this book six times by the time I am through. iTunes and Audible, hardcover and soft, B&N and Kindle. And I pointed out the Amazon shipments count as release day shipments.

I was also told that I shouldn't post until after the book is released since people will interpret anything I say as coming from the book, even if it isn't. I don't even understand the point of that. What difference does it make what they think?

    2010-05-03 01:50:19.0

oh wow, i am sooo glad i discovered this forum instead of that one! it sounds so hostile! sorry to hear!

    2010-05-03 02:09:21.0

I'm going to bed now so I can read my "contraband" book that will arrive "illegally" on my doorstep tomorrow morning.

    2010-05-03 02:32:50.0

LOL!  Well it's morning now and I'm soooooo jealous of you - you notice not "envious" 'cause then I wouldn't want you to have the book.  I just wish I had it early, too!  I'm so excited it's ridiculous!!

The weather ended up clearing yesterday, so we were able to spend the day on the island at the amusement park with friends and family and then go to an impromptu BBQ at friends' house.  That took care of yesterday nicely..... now what... oh yeah, Ashley suggested doing your nails!  OK, mani-pedi here I come!!  Wink

    2010-05-03 08:32:20.0

OMG I'm so excited I'm starting to worry about the quality of my life. And I'm excited about Amazon shippining it tomorrow. I cannot believe you'll be reading it already! Soooooo jealous.

On the other hand considering I have a deadline for a project with it's mandatory model on the 13th, I'm sort of wishing the book wont get here before that, because I'll be in real trouble!! XD

    2010-05-03 08:49:50.0

Mashara, I know how you feel.

    2010-05-03 10:24:21.0

Amazon stated my book was "shipping soon" for over 12 hours. I wrote them an email early this morning asking them what was taking so long. They apologized for the delay in processing and refunded my shipping fees. My book is now "in transit" and should arrive tomorrow. I'm excited!

    2010-05-03 11:14:00.0

i just checked Wal Mart and it said item is "Avaliable In Store" !! and it juust opened so wish me luck! hope there's a Wal Mart by you guys!......(well firstly i hope its In store haha)

    2010-05-03 12:05:53.0

Ash, where did you write them to?  My shipment is also "shipping soon" and I would like to execute some pressure...

    2010-05-03 12:14:48.0

    Customer Service

Sign in first, select the book, then fill out the form. They'll act pretty quickly, but you may not receive notification for about 5 hours.

    2010-05-03 12:19:46.0

What did you categorize your "issue" as....?

    2010-05-03 12:25:36.0

Ok, I sent them an email. i don't expect them to go head over heels, but as soon as it's in transit I can start being a pain in the ass for the girl in my office front desk.

    2010-05-03 12:30:47.0

I said the issue was "Where's my stuff?"

    2010-05-03 12:32:02.0

My copy isn't getting her until Friday!  Guess that gives me time to finish Contagious.  Suckish for me!

    2010-05-03 13:16:07.0

The book's here. I slept late because I stayed up late dealing with my stereo rack (actually a six foot tall bamboo bookcase)--getting it ready for my new equipment coming with my new TV in a few days. Also I had shopped for a ton of stuff in Walmart and my grocery store. I fell back on a series of Jewish comfort foods like bagels and knishes and much more (to keep me fueled while I read), but I got enough to feed a hungry Jewish wedding. And it took me a while to get it all put away, since I was so tired already from dealing with the schlepping around doing the TV shopping and such. I wanted all of that out of the way so I could devote my time to the book.

I got up at 10AM and checked for the book and went back to my bed, I didn't intend to crash again, but some of my meds make me drowsy. Then I dreamt the book was delivered at 10:30. I woke up a little while ago (12:30ish) and the book was there. And it had been delivered at 10:30 according to my text notice (so maybe part of me heard something at the door). The gardeners are here and have been making an awful racket so I don't know how I heard anything. The delivery company didn't ring me to let them in the gate, probably because the gardeners have the gates open.

    See you around guys.

    2010-05-03 15:41:08.0

Oh wow! Enjoy the book! I can't wait to get a hold of mine.

FYI. I know everyone is really excited and can't think of much else. I know I have been trying really hard to keep busy. I spent the whole day with family yesterday and came home really late and basically crashed. I also missed the whole children's medicine recall because I've been obessesed with the arrival of my book!

Apparently children's and infants tylenol, motrin, benadryl, and zyrtec have been recalled. I post this because I know a lot of you are parents and these are very common meds!

    http://www.mcneilproductrecall.com/

    2010-05-03 16:05:16.0

Thanks Judy..... I can only imagine how freaky it must be for parents when stuff like this happens. It is always good to be in the know.

    2010-05-03 16:26:17.0

Darn it! I have to go to the Art Institute in Chicago tomorrow after school. I really need to choose some paintings for my field critique due friday. I'm not going to be around until early evening on tuesday. I wish everyone happy reading and will join in as soon as I can tomorrow.

I went on another DITF hunt today. No luck. Cry  I'm rather impressed (but frusterated) that no one has put it out early. I think the only stores I missed were one of the Walmarts (I went to 3 others) and a Walgreens. I seriously went to every other place I could think of that would have it.

    2010-05-03 17:04:15.0

    Amazon shipped my book!!!

That poor girl on the front desk at my office is in for a hell of a couple of weeks. I can see it already "Did anything came for me?", "who was that, did he had anything for me?", "what do you have there? Is it for me?" LOL

    2010-05-03 19:19:11.0

Yay! I'm glad. When should it arrive?

    2010-05-03 19:21:01.0

The last order took about ten days. So I'm hopping for somewhere around the 13th. Obvioulsy the sooner the better, but if by some crazy chance it's here on the 11th for my birthday I'll be the happier designer with a deadline close by you've ever seen.

    2010-05-03 19:39:14.0

Anyone in NY close to this bookstore can get their copy. They posted on their Facebook page that they have the books in store.

    http://www.fof.net/

    2010-05-03 19:50:44.0

OMG, I was soooo close to haivng a copy in my hands tonight!!  I went into the book store I reserved/pre-payed my copy at, and asked if they were in yet.  The clerk, who couldn't have been more different from the one I got before, said they were in store and would get me my copy.  She checked my receipt and it turns out that the previous clerk hadn't just presold/reserved me a copy, she'd placed a special order.  She offered to cancel my credit card charge and sell me one, but I had payed by debit.  She asked for help, and a more seasoned employee came over, explained they couldn't give it to me legally until tomorrow, and that was that.  DENIED!!!  Cry

    2010-05-03 20:15:26.0

    Aw, Liann. That sucks horribly.

    2010-05-03 20:20:52.0

Well, at least most of us are in the same boat!  I'm in good company!! Smile

    2010-05-03 20:37:55.0

Cute, Judy. I love your emoticons.

    2010-05-03 20:41:28.0

Haha. Thanks Ashley. I'm literally tapping my feet right now. None of the bookstores around here have it AVAILABLE to sell.

    2010-05-03 20:42:06.0

I just baked a cake to pass the time. I don't think I've ever done this much to distract myself.

    2010-05-03 22:24:06.0

Are you a baker or are you just trying it out to pass time?  I wish I could try a slice!!  Smile

    2010-05-03 22:29:02.0

I bake for fun or in this case, to avoid obsessing.

    2010-05-03 22:39:27.0

Yum. Send some over my way!

    2010-05-03 22:46:43.0

I'll send it with Eric in nothing but an animal hide.

    2010-05-03 22:53:07.0

OOh! That makes the whole wait worth while!

    2010-05-03 23:01:39.0

    2010-05-03 23:01:39.0

HAHAHAHA I loooove this. That is exactly how I feel.

    2010-05-03 23:32:20.0

I'm hopping up and down I'm so excited!!

Liann, that SUCKS! I tried to convince a few employees to sell me the book. And all of them had never heard of it, so my hopes were high. But each time they would realize it wasn't due out until the 4th. Damn!

Like I said in my earlier post today, I'm going to the Art Institute in Chicago tomorrow. I love looking at art but I am sooo not looking forward to it. In fact, I am dreading it because it means I'll have to put off my reading and I won't be here for the major discussion. At least part of it. Cry

    2010-05-03 23:36:44.0

Ok, so its 12:05 right now...is Barnes & Noble going to release the ebook at 12:01? Because it still says pre-order...

    2010-05-04 01:05:42.0

Sami, I just checked mine and it still shows pre-order for me too.

    2010-05-04 01:06:28.0

It's be there. It was for me. It's 2AM West Coast time. I took a little nap around 11:30PM, so I could continue on all night, and I don't know exactly when it did show up.

    2010-05-04 05:05:27.0

Good God! Here's a rant coming on...

WHY the hell do people review the book when they haven't even read the damn thing??

I went to B&N to see if I could download & saw all the low marks already for the book.

I perused lightly, not wanting to be spoiled but all were either - people bitching about how they couldn't get the book (b'c they didnt' realize the book was for pre-order when they went to download)

OR - they were giving it 5 stars just b'c they were excited.

I can't stand it. It's retarded in the biggest way.

    2010-05-04 07:26:26.0

It is retarded. There are too many idiots in existence.

    2010-05-04 07:30:45.0

Guys - Did you know (you prolly already talked about it but in case you didn't)...

Like the Kindle reader - you can download the B&N Nook reader for free for your PC, Mac, iphone, ipod Touch & crackberry

Which means you can read DITF now if you want to buy it .... even if you don't have a Kindle.

    2010-05-04 07:51:08.0

Well, I would definitely be doing that if I wasn't sooo close to getting my hands on the hard copy now!!

OK my lovelies, it's about 8 am in Toronto, and I'm going in!!!  I just have to drop the kids at school, run a couple of errands, and get my ass to the bookstore for 10am to pick up my book!  I'm so excited, I'm quivering internally!!!  I won't be back on here until I finish the book for fear of spoilers, so I will see you all on the other side!!  I wish happy reading to you all...   Laughing

    2010-05-04 07:55:46.0
