Does anyone have a suggestion for a fanfic that does justice to Niall's parting words regarding "the vampire"? Or, regarding the famous bullet? I've been looking and sadly I haven't found one. If you know of any I'd really appreciate it!
So I signed the petition and wrote a little statement, in clean language, objecting to this current practice of pulling stories. Funny thing is, none of the ones I read have been pulled and you couldn't pay me to read a Twilight fic (most of the pulled fics seem to be in this universe), but the censorship kills me. I encourage anyone else that reads fanfic to go sign the petition ASAP.
I hope this link works. I've never posted a link before. Petition
If not, there's a link on the FANFIC 2 thread.
Fight the power!
Thanks. I signed on the weekend.
Yippee! A new chapter for Dead with the Vikings is up. Dead with the Vikings Chapter 16
Thanks Trophywife007! I've been keeping up with this one, I'm really enjoying it.
I am reading I Love You, But I've Chosen Darkness. I'm only on Chapter 16. It's good though. I am liking it.
Yeah, there wont be ch37 today and i'm SO disappointed. Wait till you get to ch24. Uff
I actually don't care for I Love You, But I've Chosen Darkness. I don't know if I just don't care for the angst, or if the Sookie just annoys me too much, but I just don't like it.
oooh diverging opinions - I'm gonna have to read it now!!!!
That's the interesting part about this story. It got so much attention, it gets a reaction out of the reader. Her Sookie is so much like CH's, and that is very freighting, because it makes you wonder how much are we gonna hate book DITF, thanks to Sookie's charming personality...
It's the first time that I cried while reading a fanfiction story, and it was not just falling tears.. I was sobbing, it felt like it was me and not Sookie. (don't want to spoil) I'm not a fan of angst myself, but since I started reading when the story already had 22 chapters out... and then she updates daily; I barely noticed it.
I think you would love it Missleeloo.
I Love You, But I've Chosen Darkness by greenlemons
And to anyone with a Twitter acc I encourage you to follow her for many updates and sneak peeks @greenlemonsFF
There's a new chapter of Nesting Instincts up!! For those who are reading...
Hi ladies! How are you all? Long time, no see!
So, I dunno if anybody cares, but I updated my fic Dancing in the Dark. The hiatus is over. If anyone is interested, here:
http://www.fanfiction.net/u/1820002/VampAngel79
Enjoy!
Oh, and I can totally rec these fics: Dead with the Vikings, I love you, but I've chosen darkness, The Heights and Dead to my World.
They are excellent!
I also now have a twitter account: http://twitter.com/VampAngel79
*hugs*
I think that's why I don't like it. Even CH's Sookie annoys the heck out of me. The Sookie in I Love You, But I've Chosen Darkness is even worse. And I really don't care for the Eric in it either. To me, they're close to being on character, but just different enough in the things they do to get under my skin.
Now, that's not to say it's not a well-written story, because it is. I just don't like the story. Also, I hope nobody takes this the wrong way. I'm not saying "don't read it" because I would never in a million years say that. I just see so much love for it and I know opinions are respected here, so I thought I'd offer an alternate view.
All that said, I'm very glad others enjoy it!
Junebug, try Dead to My Word. It's great and the very different from ILYBICD.
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5673341/1/Dead_To_My_World
Or The Heights (it's all human):
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5568458/1/The_Heights
Junebug, don't ever feel the need to justify your opinion!!!! This forum rocks because it's so totally open!!! ![]()
So I got to Chapter 38 of I Love You, But I've Chosen Darkness by greenlemons. I do think it's good esp. b'c she is 19! You go girl. It certainly kept me reading without stopping or becoming distracted. I love the original characters too which is a rarity. However, & it's a big however, I have gone back & forth on it. My main issue is the ..hold up this is a SPOILER....

*SPOILER BELOW**
The E/S breakup happened so fast, it seemed inconsistent to what had happened & what was said previously. Then add to that, the whole reason for the E/S breakup in the 1st place. I was annoyed when it happened, it wasn't clarified as to why. Then when we do get the explanation, I thought it was extremely underwhelming. I mean - really? Uh Sookie didn't have faith so Eric ended it to allow her to reflect & yet he gave her no pertinent info to reflect upon? It still doesn't make any sense so in a perfect world, I think that bit needs to really be fleshed out.
Yea, Junebug, I did not mean to challenge you or anything. I just wanted to elaborate a bit on why I like it. I also get why other people don't, completely. Just saying that despite all the inconsistencies (like the one Laura mentioned) I still find it enjoyable.
Peace and Love, Lani
Also it's my 22th birthday!! Anyone wants a piece of my two chocolate layer cake with caramel in the middle? *num num num*
Happy Birthday! God, that cake sounds good!
Happy Birthday!
I know nobody was challenging me, I promise
I just didn't want to come off as a mean person or anything.
Laura, that also bugged the heck out of me. It ended up coming off as angst for the sake of angst. Fleshing it out would have made it much better. Also, *SPOILER* can anyone honestly picture Eric from the books breaking up with Sookie because she didn't have faith, and not explaining it to her? I just can't.
VampAngel- I've been reading both of those stories, and love them![]()
You temptress!! You're offering me chocolate cake, and I just know there's no way in hell I'm actually going to get a piece of it!!!
lol
Happy Birthday, Lani!!! 22? How sweet it is... ![]()
Oh, and there are new chappies of Eric and Dead with the Vikings up now!!
Does anyone have any all human recommendations that have not been mentioned? I've read plenty and especially enjoy those because I find it so interesting to see the human interpretations of the vamps.
I'm not sure if you've read these Ash, but I liked them:
House of Flesh On Fire has Eric as a professor and Sookie his student. A lot of Fun, but the overlapping points of view can get annoying. However, I think it's a fun read http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5033210/1/
Sorry Ladies, Northman's off the Market is pure fun with a very intense Eric. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5326660/1/Sorry_Ladies_Northmans_Off_the_Market
This is my new fave! Bill and Eric's Excellent Adventure. A teenage Eric and Bill are best friends and live together int the same foster home. It's so well written!! Only a few chapters in, but it's captured my heart.
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5426712/1/Bill_and_Erics_Excellent_Adventure
I wrote an all human one: Dancing in the Dark.
Here:
http://www.fanfiction.net/u/1820002/VampAngel79
Junebug, aren't they wonderful? *sighs*
Oh and here is a list of all human stories:
http://www.fanfiction.net/community/The_Best_SVM_All_Human_Stories/73479/
Happy B-day Lani!! You're just a few years older than me!
Happy Birthday, Lani!!! 22? How sweet it is...
Lol! Nice Liann, nice.
Lani, happy birthday! I already sent you a tweet wishing you happy bday earlier today!
Thanks everyone!!! ^__^
Yes I'm only turning 22. I feel so silly sometimes, some of you talk about husbands and kids... I want them all already!! *pouts*
One of the best things about bdays for me is waking up to have leftover cake for breakfast, and then, if possible, for lunch and dinner too!! Yea, I know, diabetes, weight, etc etc Once a year, give me a break mom, God, whoever is listening.
VampAngel: I actually started your story last night. I read all of it so far, and it is wonderful! You're a fantastic writer and you really know how to capture the anticipation of early romance. I caught myself getting all tensed up and excited with Sookie a lot! I really hope you continue, it's too good not to! Thanks for the list of human stories, I knew there had to be one somewhere.
Liann: I've read the first two, but I haven't read Bill and Eric's Excellent Adventure, I'll start that one tonight! Thanks!
Happy Birthday Lani! Technically I'm late I guess. But the sentiment is all the same
Yes I'm only turning 22. I feel so silly sometimes, some of you talk about husbands and kids... I want them all already!! *pouts*
LQTM. Don't worry Lani, I don't have a husband or kids either. But I love reading everyone's stories about how their husbands think they're crazy when talking about Eric or something. I always get a kick out of that. ![]()
The AH stories are a nice break from the wildly different theories on what is in store for Sookie next in the canon world. But I tend to stick with the vamp stories mostly. They're whats keeping me sane until DITF.

I'm with you guys, but I love how everyone gets along anyway! I suppose it's part of the diversity, everyone has a diffferent perspective to contribute. I know this is a bit off topic, sorry.
The AH stories are a nice break from the wildly different theories on what is in store for Sookie next in the canon world. But I tend to stick with the vamp stories mostly. They're whats keeping me sane until DITF.
Definitely. I have found so many great authors, and this is especially true with the AH ones but they are so different I feel like with a little more fleshing out, they could be original novels! But I do love a nice vamp fanfic too.
I have found so many great authors, and this is especially true with the AH ones but they are so different I feel like with a little more fleshing out, they could be original novels!
I know! If they changed the character's names, switched up their personalities just a little bit they could have their very own fiction novel.
Absolutely Sami!
By the way I just finished what's posted of Bill and Eric's Excellent Adventure, I'm really loving it so far. I love Eric and Bills relationship, for one it's not filled with hate and Bill isn't a creeper lol. Major points to the author for mixing it up. The angst is kept at a minimum and it all has very reasonable cause (apart from the usual romantic issues). It's a very original concept.
Lani, feliz cumple guapa!!
Happy Birthday Lani, hope it was a great one.
It ended up coming off as angst for the sake of angst.
That is such a pet peeve of mine!
Hey Barbara - good to see you back woman! Can't wait to read what you have next. Oh also I am trying your rec of DTMW - I trust your judgment! We usually have the same opinions.
Does anyone know the author Ann Madison? If so, does anyone if Dead Ahead is going to be updated anytime soon?????? I miss it.![]()
Thanks everyone!!! I had lots of fun bowling last night =p And now I'm having a BBQ at my place. I got a new birthday cake ^__^ this is our Carnival month, so my sis wanted it to be colorful too. I feel like i'm 5 years old again. Yuppy. I don't know what flavor it's, my sis won't tell me.
Does anyone know the author Ann Madison? If so, does anyone if Dead Ahead is going to be updated anytime soon?????? I miss it.
Yea , I miss it too =( I love Hal, he is the best other telepath ever. I'm terribly curious to see how he turns out. And it was SUCH a CLIFFHANGER the last chapter. Uggh. It's been 3 months since last update.
Ash, I forgot another AH fanfic I really enjoyed. (It's by Thyra10, the author of Dead With the Vikings) Actually, I enjoyed all her fics so I'm just going to include the link to her site:
The one I'm thinking of is called Dead on a Football Field - think European football aka soccer, but don't tell her I called it that!! It's totally OOC, and there's a lot of sex, but it's very funny and fun.
I think that's what I like about this author's stories - her humour and scandanavian sensibility. It bleeds into everything and I find it really enjoyable. All her stories are fun.
Another AH one is Dead without a Work Permit. It is fun, but as she is trying to recreate the scenes from the books in human form I found it a little redundant, but OK.
I actually preferred Dead in Denmark. It is a vamp one, but with good twists
. Also, she often has an older Sookie which I really appreciate - lol - mainly because it mellows Sookie out a little. She has the same tendencies, but has learned to not act on them right away, breathe a little, and try to work things out. It's quite a relief!!
OOOOh, also her Dust Bunnies and Christmas Presents is awesome and AH as well. It won the Naughty and Nice contest. It has an older Sookie in Norway over Christmas and she runs into a much younger Eric... OK, it's my personal fantasy, but it's still a really great story!!
One word of caution: I remember some of us talking about what "lady time" would be like with a vampire. Riding the Fire Truck is about just that. I thought it was great, and it sounds a heck of a lot better than a midol or anaprox to me, but for those of you who thought the whole concept was repulsive "don't go there". You have been warned! ![]()
Hope you enjoy!
Hi Laura! It's great to "see" you again! *hugs* I've been totally out of the internet loop lately, but it's great to be back. I'm pretty sure you are going to enjoy Dead to my World. It's great so far. I'm hooked. The Heights is also excellent, it's all human, but I love it.
We do have similar taste, which is awesome. I totally trust your jugdment too, so what do you have to rec? I'm in need of new stories. I missed a lot being away.
I second the Dead with the Vikings rec too, it's awesome so far, I can't wait to find out where its headed.
About Ann Madison, from what I've heard, before I went on my internet hiatus, she had an accident. She was run over by a car (drunk driver) and she was in the hospital and getting better before coming back to writting it. I know she was ok, just recovering. I'm not sure I have all the details right, but that's mostly correct, I think. Please, send her your well wishes.
Btw, I'm loving to be back. I've missed you all!
so what do you have to rec?
Well I have been more on a Twilight bender than Sookie. You can go over to that thread & check out my rec's. I have a ton. The last Sookie fanfic I read which was knocking my socks off was Healing Blood. The link to that is in the Sookie Fanfic 2 thread.
Other than that - I have read a few more there are a few I really like but just not 100% in love & some just haven't done it for me.
Oh yeah - I think I did read Ride the Red Fire Truck that Liann just rec'd & I really liked it. It is mature.
Thanks for all of the recommendations Liann! I've been reading Dead With The Vikings for a few weeks now, and I do enjoy her writing style, I'll look into her others!
And Laura, I've been keeping up with Healing Blood it's absolutely wonderful, hasn't been updated in a while, but I love it. It's so tender and sincere!
Hey aye17! Thank you so much for readinhg my story and your kind comments. Really. It totally made my day. My new all human favorite rigth now is The Heights. You have to check it out. If you do, let me know what you think of it.
Laura, I'm gonna try Healing Blood next. Thanks for the tip!
No problem, VampAngel! It was all true, I just brought it to your attention. It's very cool to speak to speak to the author on here! I don't have a fanfiction account, although I should with all of the stories I keep up with, but I'm fairly new to it still. I probably will one of these days, when I do, I'll be sure and stop by to review the heck out of your story! LoL. Any idea when the new chapter will be in the works or posted?
I love The Heights! I've been dying for a new chapter. I also love how she incorporates music into it like a soundtrack, because I often find myself doing that when I read. She writes very vivdly, I found myself really wanting to go to the beach when I started it, and even the emotional stuff is very well told.
VampAngel, loved your story! Can't wait for more. I didn't realize that it was you until just now! (Mommy brain, I guess.) I reviewed, too, and will keep doing so.
Hey sanomara! Thanks so much for reading and for your kind review. It always makes me smile. It's just awesome getting reviews, it's like crack, so thank you again!
Aye17, thanks again. You should get an account on FFnet so you can get alerts for the stories you follow. It's really handy. I also can't wait for more of The Heights. It's a very well-written story, plus very fun!
Oh, and I'm already working on the next chapter. I posted a teaser on the Sookieverse SVM teaser monday thread, if anyone is interested.
*hugs*
Hi guys - So you know all this pulling on the fanfic site? Well it's still going on (sigh) but there is a brand new site which believes in freedom of speech! Hooray! It's called The Writer's Coffee Shop Library.
I would encourage any writers to post Sookie or any other fanfics over there.
They do have a Sookie catagory but it's labeled slightly different over there. It's under: True Blood/Southern Vampire mysteries.
They only have 10 SVM entries so far. So go on...scoot! Put yours up & support the new FF site which does not allow a pack of rabid, loser know-it-all's run amok.
Hey Everyone, It looks like SVM-FF is under attack. Read about this on the Sookieverse forum (FF) or hereAngstGoddess003 LJ Post =/
Thanks Laura. Just another instance of bullying, and it makes me sick.
I told you Sookie was next people!!
Here's a question - if it's actually not coming from the official fanfic people - then why don't these authors just leave they're stuff up??
Just read about the story that was pulled. It was a TrueBlood category story, and it is my belief that it was pulled legitimately by FF.net from being reported so much. It was a ver controversial story. The "james" person e-mailing her is very strange, but as for her stories being pulled, that happened exactly like FF does it. I think "James" is a hacker/troll. Angstgoddess makes great points that support my belief.
It is also my understanding that no author or story in the SVM-verse has had any issues with being pulled or with "James".
Hey everyone! I know i've been a stranger for a while now, but I have a reason, I wrote my very first fic. If anyone is interested, here it is: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5788661/1/Picture_Frame
It seems that the first SVM category story has been pulled. It was Love You Till The End by educatedguess. She's posting it on her own blogspot now. Supposedly, it exceeded the TOS regarding the sex. The sad thing is that while that may seem ridiculous to us, every author that posts a story that has sex in it is indeed violating the TOS. From what I understand, when an author posts they have to agree to a TOS statement, so if they are in violation there's really nothing they can do.
That said, I agree that it's absolute bull that the story got pulled. From what I understand, the lemons were very tame. In my opinion, FFn shouldn't have done a blanket restriction on MA material, especially when the source material is MA. For example, Twilight fanfiction shouldn't have MA fic because the source material is young adult. But SVM on the other hand, should allow it because the source material is adult.
It's easy for the site to have a list of authors that don't allow fiction written for their stories, why not have a list of authors/stories that don't allow MA-rated fic?
That's a great point Junebug. I did think about the terms and agreement when you sign up. I love that you brought up the source material, maybe that should be a rule, no more graphic than the original, I think that's fair.
Most of the authors I have read have been pretty respectful about disclaimers and warnings, I have to give them credit for that. If I see something I don't like it never crossed my mind to report it because it isn't my personal taste, I just don't read it.
I'm not familiar with the story junebug referenced, but for the future it would be helpful to include a link to the new spot, if possible. Thanks!
Here is where she will be posting: http://educatedguess84.blogspot.com/
Here is a thread on FF for SVM writers to post where their stuff will be if they are pulled: http://forum.fanfiction.net/topic/55534/22916920/1/
Excellent. Thank you!
I wrote my very first fic
Hey, Lani, thanks for letting us know about this!! I can't believe it's your first. Such a creative idea, and lots of action/plot going on. A really fun read, too. I put you on author alert so I'll know if you write more. Congrats, hon!!
Thanks TB!! I'm really happy!! ^_______^
I just read this one shot from nyah on fanfiction called the "The Sleep of the Staked". It's like a missing moment piece after Sookie is staked and she dreams some interesting things! It is so good!
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5518284/1/The_Sleep_of_the_Staked
LaniLani, I also read yours and loved it!
Really enjoyed your oneshot LaniLani :o) Left you a review.
thanks LuvinLeif and Ellen ^__^ Really glad you enjoyed it.
---
And also, Luvin, I was reading her latest one shot, it's fucking amazing.
Where I am - by Nyah
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5793129/1/Where_I_Am
"Note: This story was commissioned by the wonderful nycsnowbird who gave generously to the Support Stacie Auction. She asked me to examine Sookie and Eric's bonding through Eric's eyes and then she gave me free rein."
Possible SPOILER not sure, I think not, but ppl are peaky, so don't read if you don't want to, but I dont think i'm telling anything that you wont read on the first few lines:
Does anyone watches Bones? Dr. Sweets (as Daley) is interrogating Eric for the FBI about the disappearance of Sookie Stackhouse, and the only evidence that Eric has to offer, to show he neither kill her or kidnapped her, was the bond they shared. so they discussed it, or Eric showed him. Again, fucking amazing.
I LOVE Bones! Obsessed. I'll have to check that out. CH has mentioned it as a favorite as well. Keeps me hopeful. Thanks for sharing.
I read that one. It was very good. I really like that author's creativity in how she expresses thoughts and emotions. I find it really different from other fic authors I have read.
I don't watch Bones so I hadn't a clue who the other character was supposed to be. I used to like David Boreanaz, but then a friend did a small role on the show and emailed my husband to tell me, and I quote, "Angel is a douche!" Not sure what that was about.
I just finished reading DeedeeINFJ's latest installment of Eric. She has started on Dead and Gone and so far, I have to say that she is making my least favorite book in the series so much better....
I'm really looking forward to her take on what happened during the fae war... will she wait until DitF comes out before she write that chapter I wonder!
I've just got done reading Saints and Sinners and I'm in two minds about it. As a story I've loved it, really well written, funny, great characters, etc. (and that Lafayette's so perfect!) but I can't help but feel that Sookie's just too damn perfect, almost the the point of irritation.
Anyone else find this?
It seems that the first SVM category story has been pulled. It was Love You Till The End by educatedguess.
From what I understand, the lemons were very tame.
Hi, I just read the story that was pulled on the authors Blog, and have to agree that it was super tame compared to other fanfics. I agree I can not personally see why it would be pulled. But I thought perhaps the difference with this one is that the character is pretty obviously based on the actual actor AS and not the fictional character Eric Northman.
Oooh, I didn't realize that there were more Eric chappies up! So, she's into DAG now? That should be good!! Thanks for the heads up.
Ellen, I'm totally with you on the Sookie in Saints and Sinners! I love that story; it's a bit of a guilty pleasure. The characters and the situations are so totally over the top crazy, but as you say, it's really well written and paced and fun. I just think that if I were in that living room, I'd be trying to shrink myself into the smallest corner possible so as to attract the least amount of attention! I'm sure that Sookie would be very nice to me, but she's so "perfect" and "balls to the wall" all the time, she'd intimidate the crap out of me... although, I guess after the last chapter she's not quite so perfect anymore. She made a pretty big error in judgement in that one!!![]()
Those LU people caused the first SVM author to pull all of her work. It was Twitche, author of stories such as Chains That Bind and Dead for the Viking. She received a review from one of the LU members telling her that her story was too mature for the site. The story that received the review was Dead for the Viking. Instead of waiting for it to be reported until taken down, the author pulled all of her work. No word on whether she'll be posting elsewhere or not.
An additional note: Through conversation with an well-known SVM author, I've learned that they are suspecting that the reason Twitche's story was brought to the attention of the LU was because of another SVM author. The LU was alerted to it by a "dummy account" to hide the person's identity. It sickens me that am author, or even a reader, would report an author of their fandom and possibly bring the whole thing down. I hope it stops here.
I'm sorry, but this is sounding more and more like the frickin' Salem witch trials!! Anonymous tips by people with a grudge, or something to gain... it makes me feel a little sick.
It's horrid, but I'm hardly surprised it's happening, there's a small chunk of people out there who are vile, and sadly there is no nice-ness check for internet access. I'm quite close to posting chapters of my first ff, and I'm still in two minds whether to post on FF.N or just to stick to the ASLibrary/Forum.
Ellen, I guess that depends on the content you intend to write. If you think there's a chance it could be pulled, then I wouldn't blame you for sticking with the other forum. I've never been on that one; although, I've heard other writers like Thyra10 mention it a lot. If you do post there, please let us know!
Also, I think Laura mentioned another fanfic site that is starting up in reaction to all the censorship. The link is further up the thread, I believe. That could always be an option, too.![]()
I feel quite scared doing this... it's one thing to write stuff and let my husband and a couple of stranger's read it, but it's another to start telling others about it... but...
Here's my first chapter: The Souvenir
Chapter 2's been beta'd, just toying with the idea of strapping the start of chapter 3 to the end of chapter 2, or leave the set up as it currently is...
Congrats, Ellen! Just read it, and it's fun. Looking forward to all the english scenery and possibly an english Eric? Just sayin', the accent makes me swoon!!
Smart to write somewhere you know, too, and I love getting the insiders point of view as well. (I left you a review for good measure... )
Also, here's another new one from one of our own: The Dead and All the Dying by LaniLani. check it out!
Thanks LB ^__^
Ok people I have some bad news, really bad news. We are finally on the LU list. ![]()
http://forum.fanfiction.net/topic/61196/16967487/1/#23896897
I haven't posted in forever, but where are the authors that are taken off FF re-posting there work too? I am upset that serval of the books that I enjoy reading are on that list. Are there other sites to to read from?
There's a thread for that on the Sookieverse, called Authors, Where are you now?
What exactly does this mean? I usually bookmark the stories that I am reading and then delete the book marks when I complete a story. Will this affect these stories? I am not too technologically savvy. Also, if one of your stories is deleted, do they inform you? I have written two stories, so...
So from what I am gathering, if a FF Forum mod says it's gone it's gone? The ones that I am enjoy are not on the Mod list they are on a reg's list. Do the Mod's go in and delete stories on one persons suggestion?
Well, I'm on twitter with the authors mentioned on the LU list, and so far they are not communicating with the LU people, because attention is clearly what they want. They are backing up their stories and reviews, and won't be deleting any of them until FF deletes them, if the LU are successful, and will continue writing, some already have alternative networks, or private blogs you can follow.
It's yoo much to summarize, you can always go to the Sookieverse Forum and enter the first thread, Northman's Garden: Our stalks are thick and strong If I'm correct the news about the LU post started in page 14.
This really is just a witch burning isn't it... has anyone experienced this before on FF.N? Or is this the first time they've had a clear out of "offending material"?
Hey guys/authors -to post any Fanfic, head over to The Writer's Coffee Shop Library: http://208.77.148.67/index.php
They are strict anti censorship & although many of the Twilights have moved there - any book Fanfic can post there & they do have a place for Sookie. Scroll down on the home page to see.
They call it True Blood/Southern Vampire Mysteries - so far there are 21 stories there.
It seems like a good atmosphere. The only thing I don't like is that you have to actually 'favorite' a story if you want to follow it. I follow a lot of stories that I wouldn't or don't favorite but it's the same (it seems) on other Fanfic sites too. The Fanfic.net does have the most comprehensive layout but it's just asinine there & not worth it.
I would be suprememly surprised if any of this extreme behavior happens over at TWCS, they promise to be a safe place for expression.
This really is just a witch burning isn't it... has anyone experienced this before on FF.N? Or is this the first time they've had a clear out of "offending material"?
Yes it is. Bullying. They call people who behave like this 'Trolls'. Here is a the definition: http://www.flayme.com/troll/#What
Their sole purpose is to disrupt a group. The more attention they get the bigger their ego's get, it's how they feel validated. Apparently they count the responses to their inflammatory statements.
We've had a few here but fortunately for us, we are hands on so nip it in the bud. Fanfic is too big. I think that's the main problem.
Well for reference I think I've already been "tagged" by the one of the group.
I listed my fiction as 'M' because I plan on using the f word a fair bit further down the line and hopefully getting a little raunchy. Because I've been so excited about people putting me in their alerts and favourites I've been looking at everyone's profile and thanking anyone I can PM - and I recognise one of the names from the Literate Union...
I've contacted FF.N about the bulling aspect of it, but of course nothing's happened so far... It does give me that whole "BB is watching you" feeling. I think I'll be wondering over to the writer's coffee shop library too...
May I just take this opportunity to say "AAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGGG!"
You have been tagged b'c you gave yours an 'M' rating?? What do you mean? As soon as you posted, you received a PM from someone claiming to work there? That's a bogus PM I am willing to bet. It's the highly organized Trolls.
No one can make you remove your story. If they are oh so powerful - wait until they delete it.
IN the meantime -I would just post at a couple of different places. Have your stuff backed up & also have it up elsewhere too, just in case they do manage to delete it.
TWCS is good. I hear you can contact them out layout & format suggestions too.
txone in Teaser Mondays says "The Executive" has been targetted to be pulled.
What I mean by 'tagged' is that I think they're watching my story. When someone puts you or your story on their alerts of favourites you get an email - so I know who has me listed... and one of the people watching my story has posted on the LU, so I, in my paranoid little ways, figure that means that they're keeping an eye on the story in case they feel it's appropriate to report.
I've not received any pm's etc.
Ahhhh.....I see. I bet they are tagging all new uploads to the Twilight & SVM series.
BTW - I contacted TWCS about only being able to get alerts for ones you tag favorites. They got back to me right away & said this:
Unfortunately favoriting a story is the only way to get an update. I'm not a programmer so I have no clue how to change that. We simply found the best program available to offer a site to post stories, reviews, and be able to receive email alerts. It frustrates me that we can't change little things like that. I'll put in a request to the programmer and see if that might be a possibility in the future.
In the meantime - how I follow stories that I want to follow but not favorite, is I keep a 'draft' email & keep it to the side with the links. I just check for updates on my own.
Thanks for the info girlies. I am just upset, and really like some of the stories on that danged list. I signed into a couple of the account mentions. Again~Thanks for keeping a not so tech savoy reader reading her favoirties.
Okay...I'm sorry if this is repeat, but I'm a bit confused and just hoped for some clarification. This forum group the Literature Union--are they the ones who are behind the story pulling? Reporting? Or are they highlighting stories that have been pulled for the readers sake?
I think this whole thing is so silly. It's not like you have to show ID to buy a nasty book in real life!lol What is the concern here? Could they not just find a way to provide some sort of parental controls? I just don't understand the purpose of having a M rating if you can not explore mature topics. FF.net needs to be more proactive and provide the PC's as I suggested or a "sister" site for M/NC-17 stories. And, seriously..WHO are these people that are so concerned about this? It's not like these stories are gonna pop up in a grade school text book.
I've never been hugely passionate about "freedom of speech." I'm more in the "mind your own fucking business-get a life" mindset. But, these days the two are becoming one--very hard to ignore!
Okay...I'm sorry if this is repeat, but I'm a bit confused and just hoped for some clarification. This forum group the Literature Union--are they the ones who are behind the story pulling? Reporting? Or are they highlighting stories that have been pulled for the readers sake?
I think it's the 'Literate Union' and I believe it started as just a bunch of grammar nazi's who were appalled at people posting fiction that was poorly written. I think they found it quite hard to get bad writing pulled, so instead they're turning their efforts to an easier target - fiction that is MA (Mature Adult) content because it is not allowed on FF.N
I genuinely believe that the members of LU are doing this to make themselves feel good and for no other reason. They are classic bullies hiding behind their keyboards and monitors. They're not doing it to protect the innocent minds of the young readers out there, they're doing it because they can.
Unfortunately when you post a story you have to agree to the Terms of Service to say that you are not going to post lude work - if you then ignore them and post it anyway the LU has you by the short and curlies.
Totally with you, Trish!! I'd love to just ignore them, but they are making that difficult!
I believe the "Literate Union" - and I use the term loosely, tongue firmly in cheek - is the group behind the targeting of stories with content they deem unsuitable, and then launching a campaign to bully the writer by leaving PMs that are derogatory, correcting grammar/spelling, and objecting to content. Then I believe they will also report those stories for abuse to try to get them pulled. It is my understanding that they have harassed some authors to the point that they have just pulled their own stories themselves instead of waiting for FF to do it. This may also be because the member of the LU may have somewhat misrepresented themselves and made it seem like they are a mod or someone official from FF. That being said, FF did decide a while ago that they did not wish to have mature content on their site. I believe they took away the M rating, or tried to, some think because they did not wish to have to deal with creating the "pop-ups" needed to ask if the reader is old enough to log in to the story in questions.
I clicked the link Authors, Where are you now? And this actually gave me a lot of information on what is happening. The authors and some supporters are discussing the situation, and some have included sample letters they have sent to FF. It was quite enlightening.
I am not sure if this is true but the impression I have from everything I have read & seen is that the LU are a bunch of Trolls who are highly organized & acting as the Fanfic police. They are not legit but very clever in get people to delete their own stories or get their info from b'c of posing as Fanfic heads & then deleting themselves.
So since they are trolls who get off on responses - I would ignore until the if or when the story gets pulled. There are no legal actions that can be taken on anyone for anything so I say to authors to ride it out & just see what happens w/your stuff. If you really want to drive them crazy - You could always repost under a different name over & over.
I see authors who were pulled & have reposted recently.
Gotcha. Thanks ya'll
Liann, I didn't realize they pulled the M rating. I classified my story as M to be safe. I just think its silly to generalize like that. If anything it should be specific to fandom. I mean how are you going to write a canon story w/o some of these MA topics? Makes no sense. And, the idea that there is an entire forum dedicated to "snitching" is just updurd. FF should pull that forum not the stories! I actually surprised that FF is taking it this far. I mean, obviously many of these stories are very popular. If people are forced to conform to an idiotic notion such as MA sanctions FF will lose its superiority. Before you know it FF will only feature Sesame Street and Blue's Clue's stories!
Hahahaha! Heaven forbid!! That's what I'm trying to get away from by reading FF. "Sure honey, you can watch Blue's Clue's I'll just open up my trusty laptop for a few minutes..." ![]()
Trish, I don't know if I've been completely out to lunch - it's entirely possible - but I'm not sure I knew you had written an SVM fanfic. I usually try to support the writers from this forum... could you remind me which one is yours?
The M rating is still available - when I agreed to the ToS 3 days ago it was still perfectly okay to post M rated fiction, but not MA. In otherwords you can write profanities, and you can write SUGGESTIVE scenes, but nothing 'obvious'. The line between M and MA is very VERY fine... some obvious "this is okay, and this isn't" guidance would be really helpful.
And yes, please let us know where your fic is Trish, I'd love to read it :o)
Thanks for clearing that up, Ellen! I was confused reading what the authors had written about it. I thought, well if they don't want people to use that category, why the hell do they still make it available!! Now it makes more sense to me, although having that line between M and MA seems a bit silly, IMO. Do they mean it to be like Twilight, where they write about kissing, and set up the sex, but then fade to black?
So basically M is the equivalent of PG-13?
They should use a rating system then instead of doing this bogus witch hunt, it would make everyone's lives easier but I guess it would be less entertaining for them.
Yeah Liann I was so thinking that (Twilight references).
Oh you guys are the best! I've never mentioned my FF bc I haven't gotten around to do any TB or SVM stories. I have a couple drafts on my comp that will eventually make the cut. I've been SUPER bad with my other two stories--one is One Tree Hill and the other is a crossover of Felicity and OTH. I feel so bad... but I lost my beta a while back and then was juggling the hip surgery, trying to get a job and then this damn eye pressure thing that came out of nowhere.
Anyways, I'm babbling. I'll make sure to let you guys know when I post anything SVM. Though now I'm thinking I won't be going the FF route.lol If anyone's interested in the other stories or want to check out my profile my penname is: realluvalways.
And, the rating system is so bogus. I agree there needs to be a more accurate way of judging. I started with M and then decided to lower it when I conformed to the "twilight" allude but don't make obvious mentaility. That's why I loved the SVM stories though...they have grit! Ugh!
Hi girls!
We are trying to stop the bullies. Here is what we are doing:
http://malanna.wordpress.com/2010/03/15/stopping-the-literate-union-how-you-can-help/
If you have a ffnet account, please help us by emailing them as instructed above.
My stories haven't been targeted yet. Dancing in the Dark doesn't have any M rated stuff in it yet, but my other 2 one shots do. I've posted them on: http://www.ericnorthman.net/fanfic/viewuser.php?uid=569
I'm gonna be posting Dancing in the Dark there too in the very near future.
We can't let the bullies win. If you are looking for a story that has been pulled, let me know and I'll try to tell you where it went. Some of my friends are organizing an archive for all the moved fics.
Hope my post helps!
Take care ladies! *hugs*
One more thing, in view of everything that's been going on, all my stories are now also posted on The Writer's Coffee Shop. Dancing in the Dark, Good Vibrations and To The Other Side are posted there. They remain posted on ffnet, at least for now.
Here is the link to TWCS: http://www.twcslibrary.com/viewuser.php?uid=15188
I've posted my first SVM fanfic. It takes place after D&G. Pam and Sookie go on a road-trip to find a blood relative for Bill's transfusion. Pam intends to use the time as a way to knock some sense into Sookie and get her to make some important decisions--ones that will determine her happiness.
Hope you enjoy! I was after all inspired to get this one up bc of you!
I can't get the link to work... what's your ff.n username? Not that I should be reading more this morning - I really should be writing...
Another thing, all my stories are now also on EricNorthman.Net. Here: http://www.ericnorthman.net/fanfic/viewuser.php?uid=569
I think I covered all the bases, I'm on ericnorthman.net, TWCS and FFnet.
Here's me on ffnet: http://www.fanfiction.net/u/1820002/VampAngel79
Anyway, I hope you all are well. Let's pray the all the craziness on ffnet goes away!
*hugs*
Barbara
Amen to that, Barbara!!! Thanks for all the links. ![]()
Ellen, Trish's link doesn't work for me either. She said earlier in the thread that her penname there is realluvalways. I'm going to try that.
Sorry guys! Let me know if this link works, please. The Road To & From Perdition
Perfick!
New chapter of Eric is up!
I agree, Caroline, I am liking DAG much more from this perspective/interpretation.
Hi all: I started a blog today called My SVM Addiction
It's my first non-work related blog so I'm very excited about it. Check it out and let me know what you think.
One of the features of the blog is this post called Daily Fanfiction Updates. Everyday, I will promote updated fics.
If yo uare a writer, just let me know you've updated by filling out this simple form. Yup, no twitter hash tags or looking for email addresses or anything like that. Just tell me who you are, the fic title, and give me the chapter link and your all set.
Hope you guys enjoyed today's updates, which include Saints and Sinners, Eric, Tasting Sin and The Halo Effect.
No one updates for a week or so, then suddenly they all do! ARG!
I had a random thought...might we want to have a thread dedicated to fanfic written specifically by forum members? Like Liann, I'd like to be able to support the lovely ladies here but it's hard to sift through everything. Any thoughts on that?
Well, it looks like Laura jumped on that and made us a thread!! Thanks! I can put the links I have to the fanfic I know our posters have written. Maybe others can fill in any holes I leave?
Gotta love Laura! And, Liann, I think that would be great. Thanks. I'll fill in any holes that I can...
Today's updates include The Amateur, The Executive and 2 new fics by Miss Construed and Vikinglover Elle.
http://mysvmaddiction.blogspot.com/2010/03/daily-fanfiction-updates-317.html
I have more updates today including Sunkisz Pirate fic called "His Siren's Call", a new one-shot by Hearttorn, and an update of "Nothing Personal" by Ohfortuneslost. Anyone reading her story called "The Heist"?
http://mysvmaddiction.blogspot.com/2010/03/daily-fanfic-updates-318.html
I have seen that there used to be a post called the Weekly One Shot Contest. It doesn't seem to have been updated in a while. Does anyone know about this? It sounds interesting, and would be cool to revive. Or is it neglected because of the losers who are murdering our First Amendment rights? Censoring fanfiction. What part of the word fiction don't they understand?
Ok, I was reading one of the stories on FF yesterday, and noticed one of the authors said she has her stories backed up to LJ? Can someone tell me what, and maybe where LJ is? I am not computer savoy and I need directions alot. (You ought to see what I have to do to get driving directions.LOL It aint pretty) Thanks for your help. Lizzie
LJ is Livejournal. It's a blogging site.
Thank You, I looked it up on google, and got all sorts of options. Thanks for letting me know.
I posted today's Daily Updates post. Today's updates include: 2 updates from Greenlemons for Over the Hills and Far Away, the next chapter for The Amateur and our very own Lani posted chapter 3 of her first multi-chapter fic. Way to go, Lani!
Read about all the updates and get links here: http://mysvmaddiction.blogspot.com/2010/03/daily-fanfiction-updates-319.html.
In addition to my daily update post, I also started a new Friday tradition for my blog. Fanfictastic Fridays, where everyone can recommend fanfiction stories. Check out the recommendations for today: http://mysvmaddiction.blogspot.com/2010/03/fanfictastic-friday-319.html
I've updated The Souvenir, Chapter 5: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5812221/5/
I can assure you that Chapter 6 is a doozie!
I really liked this one shot.
@LuvinLeif: You should recommend the one shot for next week's Fanfictastic Friday post
--------------------------------------------------------
I heard Fanfiction alerts are fail today. I got a few earlier today but I guess it stopped. Good thing I do these daily updates now. Here's the post about the updates I received today:
http://mysvmaddiction.blogspot.com/2010/03/daily-fanfiction-updates-320.html
Today's updates include the just submitted chapter for The Amateur, Lubadub's hot Pilot Eric in Terminal Attraction, Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, and Life Imitating Art.
Enjoy!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Today's updates include fics by 2 new SVM writers, Elbly and Sweet Sookie! That's right ... poppin' cherries. Oooh yeah! Please don't forget to show your support by reviewing. Oh, and Greenlemon's Over the Hill is just 300 reviews away from the "1,000 Year Old Viking" Club. *hint hint*.
Also there are updates from Seastarr08 and Thyra10.

Oh Sapfire you are just the best! Thank you for the pimpage!
I had NEVER heard of FF until I started reading here. Now, I am out of fresh stories to read. I am just waiting on a lot of them to update.
Does anyone have anymore suggestions, on what i should be reading next?
And just to let everyone know, that http://forum.fanfiction.net/topic/61196/16967487/1/#23896897 updated. I am not sure as of when.
@fnelong92 On my blog, I post daily updated stories that come highly recommended.
Here's today's post that includes: a new fic by Mairemor and two Alcide/Sookie fics by Lindsay K and Miss Construed. http://mysvmaddiction.blogspot.com/2010/03/daily-fanfiction-updates.html
I also host "Fanfictastic Fridays" where anyone can recommend fics by filling out this form. I will post the recommendations in a new blog post that you can find here each Friday.
Thank you. I will check it out.
Does anyone have anymore suggestions, on what i should be reading next?
What have you read so far? This way I don't suggest repeats...
On FF Authors:
Ann Madison: Meg2: Terri Botta: ericizmine: Morgaine Swann: BonTempsBaby: Leia1912: Thyra10
Who have you read?
I've read all of those all of those authors.
My fave SVM fan fic's are:
and a few other short ones...
I am currently have Dead With the Vikings on alert & am liking that but I admit, it's the Twilight fanfic that I've read more of of at this point. I think they have more freedom to play around (b'c there were only 4 books, plus the lack of sex in them I think allows people to make up their own fantasies) so the stories I find are more varied in scope & personality. I think b'c SVM - we know the characters soooo well, I think it's a bit more difficult to move around & change voices & parameters of characteristics.
It's one of the reasons I enjoyed The Chains that Bind so much. It was a very different Eric, Alcide, Sookie etc...personality wise & an imaginative story. But it offends a lot of readers, I think b'c Eric is so vampire, Sookie is so submissive and it's dark, it can be hard to take b'c you know - they're further from the characters we have grown to know & love.
I Love You but Have Chosen Darkness was good too.
Northman and the Nanny by Vixenfae I have on alert & I am liking too.
Being a sucker for all things historical, I'm enjoying Blue Eyed Beast. It's Eric (obviously) and Sookie in Victorian times with their "same" personalities and "giftings". 12 Chapters so far. I also love Dead with the Vikings. The author includes a lot of extra tidbits about Scandinavian culture.
I've been reading Blue Eyed Beast. It's an interesting spin on Eric/Sookie - Jason arranges a marriage for Sookie to Eric because she has been unlucky in finding a husband due to her telepathy (of course). Eric is Jason's business partner and he's a vampire.
Lately, I have fallen in love with Over the Hills and Far Away, if you are looking for an AH fic.
Speaking of Blue Eyed Beast, it was updated today, along with 10 other fics! Other updates include Addicted to Love, Shades of Dawn and Halo Effect.
http://mysvmaddiction.blogspot.com/2010/03/daily-fanfiction-updates-323.html
Dead with the Viking is good.
There was one on here that said that Eric died in the end. I keep looking, but can't find out which one it is. I really am trying to avoid that one. I HATE unhappy endings. If I am going to read for fun, I want to enjoy it, not ball my eyes out. LOL
fnelong82, you might be referring to the story called Better Off Dead. It hasn't been marked as completed, so I don't know if it really has a sad ending, or if the author has abandoned it, or if she painted herself into a corner and now can't resolve it, but it hasn't been updated since, well, a rather traumatic turn of events. Too bad, really, since it had potential.
Thank you. I am going to avoid that one like the flu. How y'all keep everything straight is completley amazing to me.
Hi everyone: Today was a slow day in fanfiction. Updates I found today include Zigster's The Bitch and the Hellcat, Seastarr08's The Amateurand Lubadub's Terminal Attaction in Cabo!
http://mysvmaddiction.blogspot.com/2010/03/daily-fanfiction-updates-324.html
----------------------------------------------
I'm taking recommendations for tomorrow's "Fanfictastic Friday" post today. I hope some of you guys would consider submitting a recommendation. All fics (SVM, TB, Twi, NH, etc) are welcome.
I think I should note this somewhere (maybe in the article), but I don't mind if one fic gets multiple recommendations, even if it's on different days. I also don't mind if you submit several times. Everyone has a different reason why they like a story and the idea is to tell why YOU recommend it.
I think I may have confused myself. Which is the FF which Eric has the other daughter? The one from Greece? ....
OMG, have you read the latest chapter of "Dead With The Vikings"???? angst galore!
I <3 you guys! I was looking at my blog metrics this morning and second only to Twitter, many of my page views come from here. I hope you guys are enjoying the daily update posts. I'm planning to ramp up more features soon.
Here's the daily post from yesterday. Tangler was down and I could not send it to you guys then:
http://mysvmaddiction.blogspot.com/2010/03/daily-fanfiction-updates-325.html
Updates included one from our Lani, this new fic from CassandraMello that came recommended from Twitter, 2 updates from Sunkisz, and chapter 2 of Heartorn's new fic called Glamour or Natural?.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
There's still a bit of time if you are going to submit any recommendations for Fanfictastic Friday today.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
In other Fanfic News, the Stacie Author Auction starts tonight! And next week the Dead Pan Contest begins. It's an anonymous auction so I can't wait for it to begin. It will be interesting to read the stories without knowing who wrote them.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
@Laura ... I haven't read that one. In, the Amateur, Eric has a daughter that was living in Sweden. And I'm reading this relatively new fic by SVMaddict that is set in Greece but we haven't met Eric yet. I'd be curious to know the title if you find it.![]()
In this one - He has Pam & then he calls his other daughter to help - she is living in Greece & Appius has come back & wants Sookie so does FDC. The other daughter - her ability is to be able to glamour vampires.
Wow! I'll ask around and see if anyone has ever read it.
OK, this isn't exactly what you are describing, but is so close I thought I'd throw it out there. Are you talking about Back from the Dead by seastarr08? In that one Eric calls Meg - not his daughter, but a vamp he nursed back to health when her bonded human was murdered by Appius - to help him save Sookie from FDC, and she can't glamour vamps but can read their minds. In the follow up story, Over My Dead Body, Appius returns and threatens Sookie and her and Eric's daughter. Is that what you're thinking of?
No....but seastarr08 sounds familiar. Maybe it was one of her other stories...I thought tit was Dead with the Vikings but it's not. I am so confused. Getting my stories muddled.
As I wrote that, I was thinking that they're all starting to blend and sound the same. Maybe it's time for me to lay off the SVM fanfic for a while?
Laura, seastarr08 writes The Amateur and The Expert, which is why she might sound familiar to you. Unfortunately, I have no idea what story you are talking about.
LOL! I have no idea what it is either. Did I read the Amateur? I feel like I did....WTF?
Yes, you silly person! You recommended it to me!!!
I did? Seriously...WTF?
What is it about again? I usually at least remember ones I love enough to rec!
OMG!! It started with the Expert. Eric writes books, Sookie is an editor. Bill has a vasectomy...?
Oh YEAH!!!! OK it's definitely not that one b'c the one I'm taking about is AU...
I think I forgot b'c for some reason I have not been getting alerts. Weird.
A lesson to all: Just Say No.
Just so you know, she's started a new one called Professor Northman's Extra Credit Assignments - outtakes from The Amateur. It's fun!
I love you, Laura! Never doubt it.
Aww, LOL! I am a spaz.
Cool thanks Liann. I will go check it out!
I must find the one I am thinking of I can't believe I am forgetting what it is.
Was it - I Love You, but I've Chosen Darkness??
damn - I know I read that story!!!! Eric gets his 'daughter' from Greece to come to the US - she was the only other one apart from Sookie that he's ever loved, she was part fae too!!! he had her take over Las Vegas while he & Sookie look after Louisiana.
Yes, it is "I Love You, but I've Chosen Darkness"!!!!!! I just checked!!! the daughter from Greece is called Alina!
Oh, crap, I just started that one and now I know what happens!!! Don't feel bad, though. I am the reader with the compulsion to skip ahead when things get angsty. Now the angst probably won't build to quite that point so it might be all to the good, anyway!!
I Love You, but I've Chosen Darkness didn't really have too much angst for me. There are parts that I thought were leaning there but they snapped back. I think you will enjoy it, I did.
I was asked to do a banner for ILYBICD. And I like to read them before I start the banner .. now I know the ending. LOL! Oh did I tell you guys that I make banners now? Check em out.
The Support Stacie Author Auction begins in a couple of hours AND I was able to send out the daily updates before I got distracted with that.
Today's updates include a finale chapter for a classic (Death Eatin' a Cracker), two brand spankin' new fics, and two fics that include pairing Sookie with a character other than Eric. *gasp*
http://mysvmaddiction.blogspot.com/2010/03/daily-fanfiction-updates-326.html
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh and last thing for today. Fanfictastic Friday recommendations were posted today:
http://mysvmaddiction.blogspot.com/2010/03/fanfictastic-friday-326.html
I think you will enjoy it, I did.
Thanks, Dallas! I've only just started - a few chapters in - but so far I'm liking it a lot. I'm really creeped out by Appius.
And speaking of him, yes, Beatrice, I read the latest chapter of Dead With the Vikings, and yikes!!! I'm now scrambling in my mind trying to figure out how she's going to solve it. I have read all of her other stories, and she's not usually one to maintain the angst for too long, but like I said... yikes!!!!
Nice banners, sapfirerose. I love the nod to "Where's Waldo?" for Over the Hills...
Liann & Sapfirerose, sorry for the spoilers... the story is good with loads of twists I have 'not yet' revealed!! sincerest apologies!!!! I just finished Chasing The Light!!! Oh my...
That's FarDareisMai, isn't it? I was considering starting that one, but I was wondering if she does a whole lot of recapping of action from different POV? She did that a lot in House of Flesh on Fire, and although I really enjoyed the story - especially all the poetry and "poetry in motion"
, I found I was getting really frustrated and annoyed when she would recap every little detail. Does she do that in Chasing the Light?
No worries about the spoilers! I'm sure there's more than enough left to keep me in suspense.
CTL is one of my faves but to be honest I can't remember if she does the different POV's as much. It was one of the earlier ones I read. I don't think so actually. If you flick through it though - it'll give you the POV's at the top. Maybe that'll help?
Good idea! I'll take a look. I don't mind changing points of view as long as they move to story forward. I thought it was done well in Healing Blood, because she would recap a point or two in the musings of the other character but then move on. That works better for me.
Liann, she does do it a bit but not so much that it's frustrating!!!! Major angst warning though...
Have any of you read Need by Sheba6086? Am about to embark...
Yes, major angst warning for Chasing the Light, but it's not gratuitous, unnecessary angst. CL is one of my favorites. It's the only fanfic I have ever found myself crying while reading it.
Ladies, I just found the awesomest thing ever!!
If you have a Kindle (or even if you just want to save a favorite fanfic on your computer), there is a website that allows you to do just that - there is an application that converts your favorite story (Fanfiction.net stories only though) into Kindle format.
It's called The Fanfiction Story Master on The Sookieverse website. All you do is type in the URL, your e-mail address and select whether you want it saved in HTML or Kindle format.
Oh shit. That's awesome.
Does it work on the iphone kindle?
I'm not sure, Judy.
I just did it. I think I'm in love...This is so awesome!
but I don't understand - it says reviews....
No, just click on it. It's can now be applied to reviews, but it was originally just for stories.
Click on the one that specifies that it is for "Stories."
The Fanfiction Story Master Here is the direct link.
Nice. I just asked for html since i haven't figured out how to get kindle files I haven't bought on amazon to my iphone. I've been using Stanza as my ebook reader and I love it, plus it's free! It will read html files and offer page turns just like other ebooks. Plus they remove a bunch of the fanfiction headers so it looks really clean.
Yeah, it comes out great. Complete with a content page as well, so you can select a specific chapter.
Ashley, I cried my eyes out in Chasing The Light!!!!!! Not often does the written word do that to me... And you're totally right, the angst is not gratuitous at all, a great story!
I can't remember if FDM recapped in Chasing the Light as much as she did in House of Flesh on Fire. Remembering the nature of CTL, I don't think that Sookie and Eric were around each other much to have the POVs talk about the same stuff.
Alternating POV's definitely wear out it's welcome when they are going over musings about the same stuff. I do think that when she started HOFOF there was a trend at that moment for writers to do the same scenes in alternating POVs. Many writers are moving away from that now, and I think it's because they realize it's redundancy. Well at least that's my hope!
Hey can one of you guys recommend Chasing the Light for Fantastic Friday on my blog next week? A lot .. A LOT .. of you love that fic and I think it would be cool. If more than one wants to .. go for it. Here's the link to the form: click here.
Oh and @Ashmarie: Thanks re: banners. The "Where's Waldo" thing was at Greenlemons request. Have you read the story? It's related about the first 3 or 4 chapters in the story. Waldo is Bill. Ha ha!!
All my banners have something neat related to the story in it. So it's not just a gorgeous Eric and whatever Sookie the writer wants with pretty font and a subtitle.
Yes, I have read it. That's how I recognized the "Where's Waldo?" reference.
Wow, 53 new post, what happened here? *scrolls up to read* =p
Posted this in the "Any Fanfic Written by Our Forum Posters" topic, but I'm being a real pimp for my new one shot: Angel or Love on an Escalator
Hope you like it!
haha nice twist at the end Ellen!![]()
Yesterday's updates include fics by Elbly (which she's already mentioned), Greenlemons' new fic, LindsayK and Seastarr08.

New chapter of Healing Blood is up. It's just incredibly good!! I still have goosebumps... just loved it! Check it out!!
Holy hotness. Healing Blood - sexiest SVM FF I have read yet. So intense.
it was good hey!!! I want it to get more positive though...
Oh, I think at least some positivity is right around the corner! I really want them to see Dr. Gumby again! I think she's got them in a place where they could really move forward... and It's always funny to see Eric threaten the good doctor!!!
sexiest SVM FF I have read yet. So intense.
I know, eh? That was just mind blowingly intense! She is so good at writing that!! I've read so many FF sex scenes now -
- that I've become a bit inured to the pure mechanics/sensations ones. But she manages to incorporate all those intense emotions, and do it so well. Incredibly hot, but kind of overwhelming so that you get caught right up in it. I actually felt tired after reading that.
Has anyone read Dossier by Peppermintyrose? It's written in Eric's point of view and really lets you get into his head. Some readers may be put off by it because it portrays Eric as less "romantic" but it's very interesting.
Actually, I've read all of her stuff and found it really insightful! They aren't stories per se, more just her way of getting her story and character analysis out there in the internal musings of the characters. I love that she compared Eric to the John Malkevich character in "Dangerous Liaisons". That he similarly set out to seduce Sookie by becoming the person she would want him to be but thereby was snared in his own trap, actually falling for her and ending up wanting to be that man. Yeah, it was really interesting.
I also liked her other ideas, like that if Andre was willing to create a bond with Sookie, it wouldn't be something that would put him at a disadvantage. That it's not this romantic - "she is my bonded" - connection that many fanfics make it out to be. she thinks if it's a way to control the human it won't work both ways, or at least not as strongly towards the vamp.
Today's fanfic updates include new chapters by Indigobuni, Lubadub, Greenlemons (the featured author in SMV-Uni's latest interview) and Seastarr.
There's also an update to a nifty fic idea by Pixiegiggles (of the F-Stop fame) called Hard Sell. Hard Sell is a collaboration fic where writers collaborate to create one-shots with Pixiegiggles and it's all centered around a certain theme. Pixiegiggles submitted the first chapter a couple of weeks ago. Chapter two is by Pixiegiggles and Missus T. Isn't that a wonderful idea??

Again, I have to say this, I love how you guys recommend fics that you actually like. I would so love if you would recommend fics like "Healing Blood" or "Chasing the Light" or fics by Peppermintyrose.
I've never read Healing Blood or anything by Peppermintyrose, so I'd be unable to write anything about it until then. I'm trying to open my blog so that people can discover writers like them but I can't read every fic and recommend them. It feels like it's one sided if I do. I'm hoping that readers like you all, who can say how you like fics in this forum. would help me spotlight them.
I still don't have a recommendation for "Chasing the Light" so if I want to get one by Friday, I'll may end up writing it myself.
- that I've become a bit inured to the pure mechanics/sensations ones.
Completely! I feel the same. They all blur into one & sound the same b'c they come across purely as mechanical.
I actually felt tired after reading that.
LMAO! I hear ya.
I would so love if you wouldrecommend fics like "Healing Blood" or "Chasing the Light" or fics by Peppermintyrose.
Sure, I can try to do that today. Do I have to do anything specific - like join the forum - to recommend? And can you recommend more than one at a time?
I could definitely recommend Healing Blood. I haven't read Chasing the Light yet, so you'll still need someone to do that or do it youself.
I'm trying to open my blog so that people can discover writers like them but I can't read every fic and recommend them.
Actually, I was chatting about this to a friend the other day. Do you happen to know an FF blogs which people give full out opinions like you know - a movie review (thumbs up & down & why)?
There are just so many FF's out there that I want to read & like you - I cant read every one! I would love, love a place where people listed what they have read & tells why they love it/rec'd it or why it didn't appeal to them.I just feel like I would be able to sort through the choices with more ease. I would be able to tell possibly what I think I would like, or not - much easier & then I wouldn't waste my time wading through fic's that aren't really for me.
Do you happen to know any forum or blog that does this?
Hey Sapfirerose, just thought I'd let you know, I submitted a recommendation for Healing Blood to your blog. I never realized how difficult it would be to fit an adequate description of all this things I love about it in that little space!! Hope it's OK!! ![]()
Ok, I just finished Saints and Sinners. I need to rant. I have no idea why I kept reading because I was so annoyed throughout the story, lol. Every character AND scenario was so unbeliveable that it was almost painful at times. Is Eric ever going to be able to be in public with Sookie without getting a hard on, lol? I mean really? Also, Sookie getting up before work every morning and cooking for tons of people (breakfast and lunch) and also doing all kinds of chores and having sex with Eric, All before 7:30 am.....HAHAHA! WhatEVER. Everything just always falls into place so annoyingly and she's just, idk, TOO "perfect" for him, hell for anyone. Her dad, her brother, her fiends, everyone is too perfect. I hate her dialogue, like when she's "putting someone in their place" or explaining why she's really wealthy and blah blah blah.
Ok, sorry,haha! /rant
But she manages to incorporate all those intense emotions, and do it so well. Incredibly hot, but kind of overwhelming so that you get caught right up in it. I actually felt tired after reading that.
I know! Some of the others I am reading right now do not affect me the way that Healing Blood does. So intense! I love Eric in this story as well. He's so tender and kind, yet still vampire. I keep waiting for her to get better, *sigh*. He's being so terribly patient with her and I have to wonder how much longer shes going to be in emotional shambles. She still doubts him SO MUCH! How can she doubt him when he's been there for her all this time? Frustrating....
@LunarBunny and everyone for that matter. You don't have to join to recommend ... I just made a simple Google Doc form. And you are welcome to recommend as many as you like at anytime. You can even recommend something that has been recommended before. All recommendations are welcome. ![]()
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
@Laura -- I actually decided to stay away from the "thumbs down" of reviewing fanfics only because first, I want my blog to be positive and encouraging. And secondly, since we are dealing with real people who actually write these stories in their spare time and just for fun, I don't feel it's necessary to publicly birate them like those Literary Union geeks.
My blog encourages others to recommend fics so that there is more of a range. Most of us are adults and know our own fic tastes. If you see recommendations from readers that you generally have the same taste with, than I would definitely suggest you check out those. Likewise, if you don't see people recommending stories that you tend to like, than you should recommend the ones you like. I can bet that it will encourage like minded folks to then start adding other ones too.
I will be honest and say that I don't read every fic that has been recommended on my site. Nor am I reading every update. Some of the ones I do add are one's that I am reading, but I have my own filter that I follow.
Quite frankly, this Tangler form is the only forum that I see negative opinions of fics flow so easily. But not that many writers are here ...
. Writers AND readers visit my blog. ![]()
@LunarBunny Thanks for submitting a recommendation!! It was perfect!!!!
Last week I actually had someone do a numbered list for Sheba6086's Need. You did a fantastic job, maybe someone will come and back you up and add points you missed. That happened to me the week before when I recommended Halo Effect by Missus T.
Still looking for a Chasing the Light recommendation. I know one of you ladies can do it. You guys always express so many opinions. ![]()

OK this is getting massive so let me just plug in my link for today's updates.
I had 17 submissions for today! I have also put in a plug for the new SVM anonymous contest starting April 1, Dead Pan Contest and my new blog feature, the Infamous Gracious Plenty.
Include a new fics from YouBettaGo and LindsayK; and updates from BonTempsBaby, Missus T, Hearttorn and Sawyersmine
http://mysvmaddiction.blogspot.com/2010/03/daily-fanfiction-updates-330.html
@sasha'IS'skarsgarded (oh now know I've been twittering too much!) I agree with you about S&S... and yet I get excited then there's an update. I love it and hate it in one. It's a problem I've had with a few fanfics... either the writing is amazing but the story lacks enough reality to keep me happy, or the story's great and the writing lacks something.
@everyone Healing Blood is one that has great writing and great story. The healing's taking forever... because it would! I remember recovering from a simple car crash and that took months! The idea of recovering from torture in any short space of time is just mind boggling.
I completely understand the intention of your blog & wasn't suggesting in the slightest that you change it (not sure, but got the impression you might have felt that from what I asked)? I think it's awesome you did this, I know you have been wanting to.
I asked you specific b'c I consider that you are the FF woman & so on top of it - I was wondering if you knew of anywhere that might be slightly different from other blogs (which I do love & frequent but the formats are generally the same though)?
Let me elaborate on what I was looking for & why.
Just so you know - I don't mean I am looking for a place to publicly berate the authors like those LU losers (yes - them I will publicly berate). That's just useless & power trippy. I love FF.
I just mean someplace that gives all around reviews so I can edit what I choose to read (or not) more efficiently (I have OCD about books & reading - don't ask). Anyway - a Yay, nay or indifferent for whatever reasons. Just b'c something doesn't appeal to someone doesn't mean it has to be a bashing. It can be constructive or just..."this didn't do it for me b'c Sookie was too angsty" or what have you.
The thing is - when I read the feedback/reviews on the sites it's either extreme love (& I get the feeling it's kind of political? Like you make friends & then champion each other, so I never know if it would be the case if the friendship wasn't there) or, they are mean zealots.
I can tell the irrational extremists & so I disregard their issues & what they have to say. It's truly unhelpful & not informative in the least.
I was just thinking that it would be nice (for me) to find a place that can give more rounded opinions without having it be political or radical one way or the other.
Quite frankly, this Tangler form is the only forum that I see negative opinions of fics flow so easily. But not that many writers are here ...
. Writers AND readers visit my blog. ![]()
I get what you're saying in regard to your own blog.
As far as this forum here.. yeah - this isn't a specific Fanfic site. This started off & still is a forum for the SVM book series.
So, the FF threads here? They're just a byproduct from some posters who asked if it would be OK, but it's not, nor never has been, the sole intent of this forum (although I am pleased as punch they're here).
Considering that, IMO, the FF threads are open to all opinions & I think that people here are generally just honest without being dogmatic (like LU).
And with that being said - I will never edit what people have to say one way or another unless I feel it's disrespectful to the people participating on the community here.
We encourage people to be respectful to others participating on the forum but as far as stating opinions about things? Well, we try to keep that aspect open as you know.
Not that I feel being honest about why you do or do not like something is necessarily disrespectful or negative but that's just my perspective. Like anything - it all depends on the approach or format.
Ok, I just finished Saints and Sinners. I need to rant.
Thanks Sasha - I think I'll avoid that one! Doing all that before 7:30am is enough to make me feel inferior.
Hope you don't mind me saying this here - I'll move it to the "Any Fanfic Written by Our Forum Posters" if you prefer, but while we're on the topic of commenting and reviews...
When it comes to feedback, personally (and this may just be me) I genuinely want to know where people think I'm going wrong. I have big girl pants and I wear them VERY regularly... I want to know if people think I'm too wordy, or not descriptive enough, or if my characterisation sucks, or if I've caught someone just right... If I disagree, or if I've done something for a reason that I've not shared with the reader yet, then I'll let the reviewer know I value their oppinion, but for reasons xyz I'm doing what I'm doing. And I assure you I will be polite about it - if someone's taken the time to let me know what they think I'm really REALLY grateful for that.
I did have to comfort a friend yesterday who had a review she didn't like - I can understand why some people get unhappy by neg reviews, but please, anyone reading my stuff, NEVER EVER be affraid to tell me what you genuinely think.
If you think my sex scenes suck, for gods sakes tell me or they'll just continue to suck!!!
Oh, and for the record - I've actually made friends with someone who made amazingly lovely comments on "The Souvenir" rather than them making comments because they were my friend.
Oh, and for the record - I've actually made friends with someone who made amazingly lovely comments on "The Souvenir" rather than them making comments because they were my friend.
I haven't read that yet Ellen, but I plan to.
That's cool. I'm sure. I wasn't implying that's the only way a person gets good reviews, just to be clear.
I was commenting on a impression I got based on what other authors have said, or complained about or certain things I have seen. I didn't mean to sound like I was making a sweeping generalization, just a thing I see happen on quite a few occasions & wonder about. Hence asking about a rounded out, neutral zone.
In fact, I myself, give authors (in an attempt at what I hope has been) thoughtful feedback as to what did or didn't work for me & especially the parts I loved. I haven't a clue who they are but if something really resonates with me, I want them to know.
It's all the art school "real world" prepped in me - constructive feedback became like my intravenous gold & I think any person putting their creations out for public consumption. It sounds like you appreciate it. For me, years of crushing humiliation made me appreciate the art of being able to value & appreciate the well formed critique. So I try my best to offer it to people specifically asking for reviews, if the mood strikes. No matter who it is.
I have to admit I would prefer FFn to have a "do you rate this fic" button that people could press so that if they don't want to be bothered to write something (and lets be fair, I'd say that's the reason a lot of people don't leave a review) they could just hit the button to add to the count.
As a reader I valued the review count to let me know how good (or not) something is, but now as an author I'm beginning to realise how erratic it is - I get a lot of hits and a lot of people reading all the chapters, which means they must enjoy it to keep going (unless they're just scanning for the sex), but a very small comparative number of reviews.
But, yes, please do feel free to let me know what you think when you get round to reading The Souvenir, I was gutted when my original beta vanished because I lost her critical input that made me re-consider so much.
Hiya Laura and Elbly and all: Oh I didn't take your comment as an intention of asking for a change in my blog. I was just commenting on why I chose not to go that route. And I also hoped I conveyed how going that route can skew with intentions.
I do see your point in having a site like that. But I also know that some people don't have a proper filter on how to give a constructive review *cough LU* so not to tear a writer apart. I know that not everyone is a great writer, and we aren't reading Tolstoy or Austen in Fanfiction. Heck SVM fanfiction is coming from Charlaine Harris' books and that's not Tolstoy or Austen writing either. Hmm ... I'll have to think on this honest-to-goodness-rate-and-review type site more. I can see benefits for writers (to learn how people genuinely react to their writing) and readers (to find out what the story is like before reading it). It's just the approach of the site and the intent of the rater needs to be vetted.
Malanna of the "Carnival of Rust" and "Dead to Rights" fame wrote an article on her blog called The Culture of Reviewing and it's really relates to this convo. It's directed to writers and is about how they react and place weight in reviews. She brought up good points like how really good writers like DCWriter16 and Meg2 have really awesome stories but low review counts.
I don't write any FF but if I did, I would imagine putting more weight in how many repeat reviewers, alert signups, favorite stories I have, than review count.
Perhaps to a lesser degree reviews may count. Some users provide constructive reviews and others just comment and say something simple like "good chapter, please update soon." So a high number of reviews may show that theirs a lot of readers. But the comments are more to the writers and less about how good or bad the fic is. So in that sense, I think the nature of ff reviews is different than say a magazine review of a movie.
So again that's why I want to give your idea about an honest rate site some thought.
Re this Tangler Forum: I totally recognize that this is a SVM book series forum. I also recognize that fanfiction/art/etc is a branch/outlet of that kind of thought as well. I never thought that ff was the sole intent of the forum. I found this site because I am a fan of the book series. Bringing up the point that negative opinions flow freely isn't to say that they should be "edited" or anything like that. I was just saying that .. people are able to express themselves on here without offending amateur writers who may or may not be able to handle it. I don't do that on my site because the most common reader is both. That's all. I don't see anything wrong with it here ... and I have participated in giving my honest opinions about fics from time to time.
That said. Here's another take on Saints and Sinners:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I genuinely enjoy this fic .. First, because she offers good one liners and because of that the humor is great. There's also this unique story plot .. she has a couple: (1) Eric and Sookie as a couple .. got to have a pairing in SVM; (2) Criminal/Thriller plot (3) Family and relationships (4) Super Sookie *snickers*
My fav part is the criminal/thriller part that reminds me "Criminal Minds". I've said this before that I like unique story plots and I had never read this before. Yes, her Sookie is freaking super woman. But her main characters of that plot are really Alcide and Eric .. and that part I like. Oh and I also like some of the family and relationship part. Her characters are different and so not by the book ... meaning you might not see those lines repeated over and over since Let Love In or the canon said it.
Another upside is that this fic is in 100% Eric's POV. So no repeating the story or anything. And her Eric is masculine .. yes he get's aroused every time he's around Super Sookie. But heck .. she's Super Sookie. lol! I find humor in half the stuff she does. And I would imagine if a guy found a women who was stacked the way Super Sookie is and does all the stuff she does .. feeding him and all than, maybe he does walk around with a perpetual hard-on. LOL! (Writer insight: The writer is a navy wife and mom of 5 kids so maybe she's emoting a wish.)
Some of the downsides is that the writer can venture off to focusing more on Super Sookie at times, but I think that some of it is because of the reader influence. Reader influence always a reminds to me that this is fanfiction and not Grisham. But when she gets off her Super Sookie kick .. it's pretty good.
So to bring all of to a close, this story is high on my side because of: 100% one POV; humor; and unique story. It's not a perfect 10 because there's a Super Sookie but I can live with it.
Now how's that for a review??
Now how's that for a review??
Yep - pretty much explains why I don't love it, but still read it no matter what. (that and she captures Lafayette's voice perfectly which I admire so much - because no matter how hard I try, I can't do it)
@elbly and that shows how opinions and reviews are relative to the reader. I do hope I laid out the pros and cons of the story so that if someone read that they can judge whether or not they will look further into the story. In no way did I say .. "you should not read it" just what worked for me and what doesnt and why i chose to look past it.
Well 1st - great to have that all cleared up.
Heck SVM fanfiction is coming from Charlaine Harris' books and that's not Tolstoy or Austen writing either. Hmm ... I'll have to think on this honest-to-goodness-rate-and-review type site more.
True & my thought about this all, admittedly comes from a very selfish place. It may not be Tolstoy but a lot of writers do use it as a medium to get better & even have been published b'c of their practice & the quality of their work. I kind of look at it like American Idol, amateurs w/loads of talent trying to get better via practice & guidance & maybe even make it something bigger out of their talent. Maybe I take it too seriously, who knows? But I think about what I would want & it would be the quality constructive. I think if that ever happens - it comes down the the mod's or creators culling the reviews so the extremists are filtered. They're easy to recognize so I don't feel it would be hard to do or equate that to censorship. It would be more like curating.
2nd - that was a really great review. I am tempted to try it but arrrrgh.... my OCD queue.
3rd - You know what I like as far as the review thing? On Amazon - how they have 2 reviews side by side - one very Pro & one not so much? You have no idea how that has probably saved me countess hours of not wading through. B'c I am one of those people who trudges through even if it's painful. I have dropped a book or a story before - but it's rare. Again, my thoughts stem from a purely selfish place.
OK end of story.
as long as you review and communicate with the writer than you are being constructive to that writer. a public forum wont solve that. and writers who go on in their plot even after hearing others comments are also free to do so. Some arent their to build a talent .. just to tell their story. I think Malanna said something in her article or comments below .. a reader is free to move on if it's not their cup of tea.
to your 3rd point .. of something like amazon with a pro/con side by side. I'm eh on that but i can see something like that being skewed. i don't pay attention to all of those comments on amazon because i've been asked by smaller writers at book forums to leave a good review for them on amazon. So .. it can be the same as fanfic reviews for that matter.
on another note .. any folks on here been reading ffn for a while? i just saw that Late updated it's 88th chapter today. Do you know if there's any story longer than that??

I'm not quite sure how this got quite so pedantic when I was simply asking an what I thought was an innocuous question. I also get the feeling you may be afraid of my approach with these authors?
Either way - let's just kill this convo. I asked, answered & I'm still getting lectured.
was not meaning to lecture at all. just throwing thoughts out there. convo closed
*going back to my corner*
@Sapfirerose - I'll make sure to not voice my brutally honest opinion about fanfics anymore on here.
I didn't get the memo.......
@sasha .. sorry that's not what i meant all.
@all ... i didnt mean to "lecture", and never said not be "brutally" honest. that one comment was just inspired by something insightful that malanna and fdm was saying on the aforementioned blog article.
And when I gave an S&S review, I was adding a different perspective just as we have done for other stories as well. since opinions are relative to the person. I apologize to any member that I mean have offended with just commenting. Sometimes people see "you" with a pointed finger and not as it was meant .. to be general.
i guess i was mistaken this whole time i thought we were having an open dialogue. Again, I'm guess I'm sorry that I offended anyone with adding to what I thought was a conversation. I will refrain from doing that any longer. would you guys mind if i still posted the daily posts for my blogs, if not, i'll move along.
And if that is the case, thenyou would like to find out about daily updates or just read about svm fanfiction at all, i have a blog and it's at http://mysvmaddiction.blogspot.com
I'm not sure what is going on, but I'm butting in a little. Please forgive me. I just think we have a misunderstanding.
I think sapfirerose just meant to say that she doesn't want to have negative opinions about fics on her blog, because a lot of authors read it and she doesn't want any drama, because let's face, it could get ugly. Some authors don't know how to take critics and think it's bashing. I get her point.
I don't think she was complaining and saying we couldn't have critics or voice our honest opinions here. One of the reasons I've always loved this forum is that we can have different opinions, have great discussions and always get along. There is no drama here and no trolls. We are even nice and polite to Bill lovers *snorts*. I'm really glad for that.
I also get Laura's point. It would be nice to have a place where fics are not only recommended, but also that has in depth commentary, be it good or bad. I know I have a lot of trouble finding new good fics. There is a lot of crap out there. It's just hard to do that and not offend anyone. People tend to be very sensitive about their work. I'm an author and I don't mind, but I may be an exception. I'm the first to call my work crap, so I won't be offended if someone says that. I'm always shocked when someone likes my stuff.
Anyway, here we can be brutally honest. We are a discussion forum and not a fanfic one, so everyone should feel free to voice their opinions. I know I do. And I respect anyone who does it too. Whatever their opinions might be.
I'm shutting up now. Let's just think of Eric and look at photos of AS. I know that cheers me right up!
Just one more thing. I think sapfirerose was just trying to be diplomatic and polite. She knows a lot of authors, as I do, so I think she was just trying to offer her perspective in the most diplomatic manner that she could. We both know that a lot of authors read this forum, even if they don't post here. She was just being careful about not hurting anyone's feelings.
I'll be truthful. I know I lot of authors and I'm not a fan of all of their works. It's a matter of personal taste, but of course I won't point out the ones I don't like. I wouldn't want to hurt their feelings if they found out. So I keep quiet on some discussions. That doesn't mean I don't agree sometimes. It just hard to tell a "friend" that you don't like their work.
Here you all have a lot of freedom and don't have to worry about hurting people's feelings, because not a lot of authors post here (although I know some lurk). That's great and I like that fact. I like that most people here have a different perspective on ffnet and the rest. It's very refreshing. I get to read new and original ideas on the books and on the fics. So, thank you for that.
Feel free to ignore me though. That was my 2 cents.
Guys - don't worry. It's dunzo. One of those forum mishaps it seems. Happens every once in a while, such is the way.
Cool Laura. I just love it here and I want everyone to get along.![]()
No worries ladies. Honestly.
SFR if you'd like to continue to post your updates here, of course. We just had crossed wires, it happens. No big.
Good opportunity to make something clear. This is for all the posters so don't any one poster take this personally.
Just to be clear... the only people here that say what does and does not go are the mods... not to say that your feelings are not considered, they are, but every poster on here cannot make those determinations for every other poster (outside of what is clearly stated in the rules for posting thread)... You guys are great about keeping each other straight and this is one of the most civil open forums out there for this very reason, so please don't feel like I am taking anyone to task, just asking that you be mindful.
Laura is the big cheese followed by me and I can honestly say, that as long as you stay on topic and are not be an ass, we don't care much what you say.
SFR, I second Laura's sentiment....
Is anyone reading Addicted to Love? I've been following it for a while and it's getting better every chapter posted! There's a lot of insight into the Fae world which I am adoring! The author is really coming into her own with this story, it's exciting to witness! Give it a go!!!
Is anyone reading Addicted to Love?
Not yet... but thanks for the recommendation, I'll have to give it a go... who's the author?
I feel like I did but then gave up. Was that Bon Temps Baby? How many chapters is it? I might be getting it confused. I'm not as on top of SVM FF.
She just posted chapter 32 on tues. And yes it is BonTempsBaby. I like the Fluff, and wordy, but that is just me.
I am loving Addicted to Love right now too. The story started off slow for me since it was a sequel and so much had already happened, but I loved the turn it took. Sookie's time with Niall in the fairy kingdom was so interesting! I want clothes like that, self drying and wrinkle resistant! Also, I couldn't believe myself, I actually welcomed Ryhs' advances on Sookie. I like his character and thought it may be a good idea for her to uhh, broaden her horizons, lol. I want to see more of Faryn and I hope her and Robert get together; he's so charming......
Oh OK - I don't think I read it. She wrote Pour Some Sugar right? That one I gave up on I think. Wasn't it over 60 chapters? I can't remember anything about though. If you guys have read PSS..refresh my memory on what that is about please?
Oh I keep looking at PSS and thinking "MEEP! Too long!" and running away scared... there are so many other recommended fics that aren't half as long that I want to read that the idea of spending that much time on one... hmm... possibly not for me
Yeah, each chapter's like 15 pages... but I got through PSS and am hooked on ATL so I keep soldering on!
PS: also an interesting twist on the bond... it's kinda triangular/menage a trois... I say no more!
PSS...It was as if book 9 never took place. It starts off at the end of book 8.Sookie, Claudine, & Claude go dancing. They Dance to "Pour Some Sugar on Me" (That is where the title comes from.) C & C "pop" Sookie to the bar, and that + the bond, somehow trigger Sookies Fairy Powers. It is about her and Viking getting back together, and what happens when they do. I really liked it.
It has Eric/Sookie/Bill/Pam, in it. But she has added several Charcters that I love Robert (French Vamp, Friend & Kind of Brother of Eric **YUM**) , Luke (Vamp, but is a womenizer. ***AGAIN, YUM***) , & Rhys (Fairy man, who likes Sookie a lil to much **GRRRRRRRR** I don't like the lil fairy man LOL). There are female new Chracters too Faryen & her Mother (Both Fea women)
There are agnst's in it, and some good lemons every once in a while. PSS, was BTB first FF. And ATL is her 2nd in her series. What I like is that she updates almost weekly. Yes, she does get wordie in it. But I like that. It is just one chapter a week. I really look forward to reading her version weekly.
In ATL, she gives you a lil taste of what happens in PSS. So if you are not into reading PSS, you don't have to, but I suggest you give it a try.
Sorry I know that I got wordie myself.
Sorry, this is so long. ~Lizzie
ooh yeah. I vaguely remember Robert. Thanks Lizzie!
NP, let me know what you think about it.
So Ashley recommended Over The Hills & Far Away by greenlemons ( who wrote I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness)
It actually has a 2nd part/arc called : Baby, Let's Play House
The author (whose only 19!) seems to be doing a version of Amnesiac Eric & Real Eric. I am really liking the 2 as a whole.
The 1st part (OTHAFA) -was cute & sweet, much like Amnesiac Eric, but I think it's much stronger with the 2nd arc of the story (BLPH).
Also - so far, the author does angst well. She doesn't beat you over the head with it & It's realistic (considering the circumstance) so it's not a simple contrivance just to push the plot.
Normally, I don't prefer AH SVM fic's but I am enjoying these two. Check 'em out.
Thanks! I'll give them a look. I'm reading one, also by a very young author, that I'm really enjoying: Dead To My World by afalcone10. She is rewriting DTTW from the premise that Sookie hasn't met any vamps until she encounters Eric running down her road on New Year's Eve. She recognizes him from the images she saw in Dawn's head, and offers to help him. This author really gets Sookie and her voice IMO. I've loved it so far, but now we are up to where the curse will be broken and Eric will wake up with no memory of where he is or who Sookie is. I'm bracing myself because it could get ugly, but I really like this author and think she'll do a great job.
Also, for anyone who has read hdgcat's Cheeks Red Like Roses, she's now continuing it with Sookie taking a turn as Dom. Caro highly recommended hdgcat in the last thread and I totally agree: she's a great writer! This story has Sookie and Bill as a married couple in their late 40's. Sookie runs in Eric, and old friend and flame from college, in the airport on Xmas eve. He ends up staying with them as his flight was cancelled. It turns out S&B are into playing BDSM games, but Bill is ailing and doesn't feel it's safe to play anymore. They want Eric to join them and help out! This story is unique, at least from what I've read, in fanfic in that these are mature adults playing these games for fun. There's no dungeon, or malicious intent. And she pays such attention to detail and character. If you're a Bill hater it won't be for you, but she doesn't sanctify Bill - he's totally recognizable - she just doesn't turn him into a psycho, rapist nutjob!! LOL
Also, I read Chasing the Light, and I have to thank all of you who sent me severe angst warnings before I "went in"! Holy Mother of Pearl!! That Craig Sutherfield was one evil mofo!!!
I thought that "Chasing the Light" was so dark. OMG, I could not stop myslef from reading it, but dang. It was really dark.
Yeah I am reading DTMW. It's cute. I actually wondered if the author was young. Do you know how old?
hdgcat is one of my fave authors. She is great. I love that she does vampwich. She handles it & transitions really well. I wish she would update Nesting Instincts! Have you read that?
If you don't mind dark - try Dead From the Waist Down. It's one of the few that At A venture completed & was a popular one.
She did an uncut re-write of that story too that I loved (but it's not complete) which is darker. I love dark. I think she does it well. From The Waist Down. My only issue with AAV is that she seems to have ADD & barely ever completes! So I gave up reading her stuff unless it's one shot. She's still a fave though b'c I think she's talented.
YAY! Laura, I'm glad you liked OTHAFA and BLPH.
I don't usually like AH fics, but this one worked for me. I really like her version of human Eric, which is my issue with AH SVM fics. I usually hate Eric because, for me, he tends to be written in a way that he loses his charm, humor, and sex appeal. Basically, he loses most characteristics that make him Eric in the books, so what's the point?
Yeah she's doing a great job. I know I feel the same with many AH fic's. Not all but many. Eric is suuch a defined character/personality - I feel there is less room to play with him. I don't like the overly romanticized versions of him which is why I prefer the fic's which keep him vampire & tend to (or try to) keep to his book personality.
It was funny b'c the 1st arc of the story - I was reading & I felt the writing was a little stilted, so it sounded a bit young & naive to me but then a few chapters in - it dawned on me that she might have been doing Amnesiac Eric. So I started to get into it b'c I was so curious.
Then when I started reading the 2nd story - it was obvious & I was really digging it. It was really cool how she laid it out. Very clever.
I hope it doesn't take a turn for the overly dramatic angst but I am still dying for this Sookie to say a few choice words to the Bill (& even Eric) in this story & I can see it may be coming. There's just some things I am dying for her to elaborate on in terms of some things to address that need to be said!
I don't like the overly romanticized versions of him which is why I prefer the fic's which keep him vampire & tend to (or try to) keep to his book personality.
Yep, that's my issue as well. I can't stand him being all sensitive and mushy. Takes away the sex appeal. I need my Eric with a little more...grit.
I hope it doesn't take a turn for the overly dramatic angst but I am still dying for this Sookie to say a few choice words to the Bill (& even Eric) in this story & I can see it may be coming.
So far the angst has been fairly tame and realistic given the circumstances. I hope that it remains that way or it might turn into House of Flesh on Fire. Started out with a great plot and storyline, but became ruled by angst to drive the plot that by the time the story ended I had already lost interest, wished both characters dead, and removed it from my favorites. Too much angst gets ridiculous and unrealistic at some point. The best fics know how to create an equal balance.

Oh my god - LMAO! Tell us how you really feel!! I couldn't agree more though. I removed it from my faves too when it crossed that line!
It always had that tendency to just about go there (to OTT-ville) but she had completely straddled & toed the line - that is until Eric got all Emo & Bill had to seriously jump shark & it turned into Days of Our Lives. Before that though - I loooved it. That masquerade ball was HOTness. Still one of the hottest fic moments I've read. Esp. in the SVM fanfic's were the sex isn't generally as creative or graphic as the Twilight ones. This one was totally memorable for me.
I agree - it's all about the balance. I wonder if the upcoming angst in (BLPH) is where Sookie gets her groove back & hands a few people their asses. B'c she let them off light so far if you know what I am saying. It's actually driving me crazy b'c I want it to happen so bad.
So far I think Sookie is very in keeping with the book (loyal, humble, brave, mannered, natural) but she has been kind of stupid in some of her judgment calls the last couple of chapters. Do you think that's intentional? B'c the author is definitely applying a lot of the book premises & characteristics to this story. But the latest calls she has been making have been more TB Sookie rather than book.
Oh the other thing considering the amount of subtle detail in keeping true - where the hell is the oral sex? It's like what put Eric in the famous sex God category & he does not even go near 'gina. Only once. Considering the amount they have sex? WTF?
Other than that - I think she's done a pretty brilliant job & bringing specific characteristics & iconic things from the books to her story & just applied them in a different way. I am really looking forward to the updates on this one so far. Good call.

Yes, exactly. That whole Bill scenario had the hourglass and Days of our Lives music playing in the background. Completely unnecessary and a clear plot device to create more angst in the storyline without serving an actual purpose. That was a total leap of the cliff.
The masquerade scene is classic and will go down in history as one of SVM fanfic's hottest moments.

Hmm...she has been TB Sookie lately. But I also considered it could be a throwback to Sookie in DUD. She was so incredibly naive and inexperienced in the beginning of the books. This Sookie is only 22, hasn't had many relationship or life experiences. I think the bad choices she is making lately are reflective of her age and inexperience. In a way, it's a coming of age story. The circumstances of her life are forcing her to grow up sooner than she would normally be expected to.
Oh the other thing considering the amount of subtle detail in keeping true - where the hell is the oral sex?
I don't know. His tongue is in hiding. It's kinda sad.
In a way, it's a coming of age story. The circumstances of her life are forcing her to grow up sooner than she would normally be expected to.
True, true. Good point, esp. as she really does seem to be just tweaking the themes of the books. Makes sense.
I don't know. His tongue is in hiding. It's kinda sad.
That it is.
Hey everyone! It's been a while.
*edited* I feel as though I was a bit harsh on those stories and the author, so I deleted what I previously wrote. PMSing is no excuse for being so rude.
I also have to disagree about HOFOF. I thought it was great. Dramatic, yes, but have you read her other story CTL? The author seems to like very dark things even for vampire stories, why would her Human stories be any different?
Another reason is that the Sookie really annoys me. Would Book Sookie have continued to keep the fact that she was pregnant from Eric knowing what his ex pulled on him? That was spineless.
I agree. That was spineless. And she does indeed have her moments of annoyance, especially in the recent chapters. I don't want to go into much detail though. But lately, she's a dumb ass to put it bluntly.
Yes, I have read CTL. It was one of the first fanfics I read and one of my favorites. The difference between the angst in HOFOF and CTL is necessity. CTL was designed for angst. That was the plot line. It was very dark, but remained relatable and realistic.
HOFOF, on the other hand, did not. The whole Bill scenario towards the end of the fic jumped into soap opera territory and completely lost me. The angst she attempt to infuse through that plot line served no purpose, but to inject more angst into the storyline. I hate angst for the sake of angst and that was a prime example. There was absolutely no point in it. And I agee with Laura that Emo Eric lost his appeal.
I don't think it was soap opera like at all. I found the whole story very deep psychologically and emotionally, and I would read it if the author decided to turn it into an original. What happened with Bill needed to happen for those two to pull their heads out of their asses and be together. There also would have been a lot of plot points in the preceding chapters that never would have been tied up if it hadn't happened. Of course, this is just my viewpoint on it, and I'm not trying to convince you of my way of thinking. I just want others to see that there's more than one viewpoint of it.
So, since were talking about 2 of the most popular & consistently rec’d pieces on this forum by FarDariesMai2's (a fave of mine) - here’s one by her that doesn't get all that much attention.
Has anyone every read Bonds ?:
If so, what did ya think? Total Vampwich between Bill & Eric. Basically – it’s about Sookie being bonded to both vamps.
I defo need to read it again. I remember, b'c I was a FF newbie, I waffled about putting it my my faves list but came close. I think since reading a ton of FF's of all types, I'd be less likely to waffle. I also don't remember it being as long when I read it but maybe it was.
Anyway - I do remember it was dark, most definitely different & hot.
I totally don't think that it's for people who don't like the sharing concept. Esp. with Bill. I love a good vampwich though. Although (laughably), when I read a lot of ménage stories, sometimes I actually get jealous on behalf of a character (does that ever happen to anyone else)! Weird, I know. However, I don't think I did with this one which to me is a really cool. There are only a few which hasn't incited those feelings!
Yeah - I am defo going to check this out again.
*sorry off topic but just in case you didn’t know -FDM has also branched out into Twi FF’s which I am psyched about. She did a really poignant slash one that Amanda rec’s on the other thread. Made me cry. Hard. Haven’t read her other ones yet though)*
BTW – just a reminder, there have been a ton of rec’s & opinions flying about in the other 2 Fanfic threads. I encourage people to check those out even though they’re read only now. I remember a few posters doing large lists with links for personal rec’s.
Laura, I TOTALLY get the jealousy for the characters too! I get so involved, it brings back my own feelings of betrayal from a past messy relationship!!! Good writing stirs emotions!
Completey!! Ok - good to know I am not the only one! There have been a few that I have actually read that disturbed me so much (b'c of the betrayal...even though menage is OK's - there is usually someone left out so my jealousy kicks in) that I have had a hard time sleeping. No joke. Crazy!
There's a story I read (not mentioning it - don't want to ruin someone's reading experience) where there is a massive misunderstanding between Eric & Sookie and they separate: the pain both characters felt as a result of their separation killed me, I was so traumatized I couldn't sleep!!! intense some of the stuff that pours out of our souls...
There have been a few that I have actually read that disturbed me so much (b'c of the betrayal...even though menage is OK's - there is usually someone left out so my jealousy kicks in) that I have had a hard time sleeping. No joke. Crazy!
You are not alone. I will be up all night thinking about it. That's why sometimes I have to monitor what I read before I go to bed or I won't be sleeping very well that night.
There's a story I read (not mentioning it - don't want to ruin someone's reading experience)
OK I need a hint - do you know if I've read it?
You are not alone. I will be up all night thinking about it. That's why sometimes I have to monitor what I read before I go to bed or I won't be sleeping very well that night.
There were 2 twific's that seriously upset me like that. I was so head tripped out. But I don't remember any SVM's right now that instigated that response. But that means little b'c I could be forgetting.
But I have to do that too! Monitor what I read!
I'm so glad I'm not the only one waking up in the night and having a plot from a story running through my head!! Unfortunately, it doesn't really seem to matter when I read it, my subconscious dredges it up at 4 in the morning so I can run over it again!![]()
Speaking of disturbing, I guess I'm pretty much a lightweight, but I was quite unnerved by Chasing the Light.
Chasing The Light Spoiler Alert * If you don't want to know don't read further.
I'm trying to figure out why it got to me so much? I mean it's not pleasant to read about rape or torture under any circumstance, but this really got to me. I guess because it was happening to a character I care about so much, but also I think it's because even though this was written in a fantastical setting, this kind of thing is a reality for so many women and young girls around the world. And even though I don't think there's anyone out there that can invade someone's mind the way Craig invaded Sookie's, there are philosophies, and religions, and cultural beliefs that brainwash females into thinking that they are somehow deserving of being abused and that it is their fault. *shudder* yeah, this one had me waking up at night in a sweat!
Yeah. I said I cried when I read this. It's definitely not light and very emotional. I think that's what hit me so hard about it - the realism. The emotional, psychological, and physical abuse she was experiencing is real for so many people.
I sobbed my heart out! True angst because yes, you can really believe it.
Ok. Not sure if this is the right place to post this. I think the writer for Eric fanfic is a member of this board. Just a request to rewrite the last few chapters since the "reason" for Eric missing has been published in the new books.
Judy, do you mean DeeDeeINFJ who writes the fic "Eric"? If so, she is not a member of this forum. I got her mixed up with another DeeDee - DeeMM who writes "Chasing Pavements" - when I was compiling fic written by our forum members, but corrected that later. Sorry for any confusion!
darn... But I did review her fanfic and mentioned it in the review so hopefully she'll see it and redo the last few chapters. She made Victor sound more friendly with Eric and we now know that's definitely not the case!
Not necessarily, Judy. Isn't that the whole purpose of deceit? He's obviously going to appear more friendly then he actually is. He is only going to reveal his true colors when the situation arises. Even in FDTW and DAG, Victor appeared "friendly."
Well yes but at the same time there were references to them "hanging out" together in the past.
Laura mentioned the fanfic story Bonds. I read it today... it looks long -- 28 chapters -- but they go by fast since some of them are quite short. It *is* different... but my oh my... (fanning self) it's really hot... hawt, I say! I'll be checking out a few more of FDM's stories soon.
I read Bonds and really liked it! It was my first B/S/E "vampwych". It's OOC for all three of them, but FDM sold it really well. I didn't find it dark at all. Has anyone read Hidden Things? It's a follow up to Bonds from Eric's POV. Very dark, very good!
BTW, for those reading Nesting Instincts, a new chapter is in the works. Hdgcat said she had to re-outline the chapter, and then Eric's dad was giving her grief! She says that once this chapter is out, the others should flow more quickly. She also said she's doing some big research for another chapter, and she can't tell me what, but there's a big hint in the party scene!! Any thoughts?
Yay! Eric chapter 37 by DeeDeeINJF is up!
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4884694/37/
It's the bedroom scene in DAG! So nicely done. *fans self*
thanks to you guys, ive started reading SVM FF about 2 weeks ago and now i think im hooked!.....and thanks Judy for mentioning Eric!! im in LOVE with this one!! i really hope i dont confuse this with the actual books! DeeDeeINJF really has Eric's voice down!![]()
Oh last chapter of Eric was so good. She does a wonderful job & really keeps it so simple, I often feel like a dunce after reading. I'm all; "Well there ya go. Makes so much sense."
Latest, Dead with the Vikings is up too.
Yeah Liann I just re-read Bonds. Not Dark it was Hidden Things I must have been confusing it with!
Laura, I took a look at Dead From the Waist Down, and half way through remembered that I'd read it before!! It is dark, and made me sad when reading it, but I really liked it. She did a really great job with the subject matter.
Speaking of At A Venture, did you ever read her The Angel of Death? I absolutely loved it!! I admit to skimming some of the extended Inquisition scenes - I'm well aware of what they did, and after one or two episodes, I was done - but I loved the story as a whole - the era, the characters, everything. Then it just stopped. I recently checked it to see if there had been an update, and there was. Excitedly, I went to read it, and it was just an author's note saying she'd had a lot of requests to continue, but had lost interest in SVM so if we wanted more, she encouraged us to write out own... fair enough, I guess. However, I couldn't help feeling a little blown off! LOL
No I didn't b'c I couldn't take it anymore. I get so into her stories & she never completes! I was loving The Serpent & then..nada.I still have her as one of my fave authors though. She's got chops.
I should read her crossovers but I don't watch Supernatural. But she does a lot of Buffy. She did one with Buffy & Eric - did you read it?
Buffy and Eric!!!? I'm not sure... I read some of Nyah's crossovers, I think, so I might be confusing them. Is it good?
Buffy and Eric?! I might be able to get into that...
It was a one shot. At 1st I got all bent b'c I felt that whole jealous thing coming on (whose crazy?) that I was talking to you guys about but then I bought it. Pretty cool.
I think Nyah did one with Buffy confronting Eric in a graveyard, having a kick ass fight in a crypt, and then he does her up against a wall? And yeah, I felt the "this isn't right, what the hell is he doing" jealous thing, too. The fight was awesome, though.
Hmmm, that sounds like the one I thought was At A Venture! LOL! Now I have to check.
(whose crazy?)
LMAO!
I get the jealousy. It might be good to read if I'm pissed at Sookie.
Here it is:
You're totally right, Laura! It was by At a Venture. When I like an author, I'll often read through their other stuff. Then I go on overload and get all confused - whose crazy now? Nyah does Buffy, too, and she did a crossover called Ruby Red. It's amusing, but ultimately doesn't quite jive for me. Still, it had a few laughs and I felt she really got the Buffyspeak down.
The latest chapter of Blue Eyed Beast is up... and it's a good one!
dead with the vikings.. it just udated.... I don't know what to say....
wow - it finished so quickly!!!!
It did finish quickly. I would have liked to have known a bit more info about Pam (their daughter). I loved the idea of the Viking village. Very cool! That was my favorite part of the story, the time when she was with Eric as a human; loved it!
Hey guys! Laura and Katherine wrote a fic, which I beta'd called Sookie After Dark: Club Dead Redux. It's posted in full on FF.
wow. i loooved Dead with the Vikings! i started reading it yest and was absolutely hooked! i especially loved the fact that she would give so many scandanavian facts after each chapter![]()
Ooh Sookie After Dark. Had a quick read late last night. Loved it. Great first job guys.
Thanks Penny! Glad you liked!
Yes Sookie After Dark was amazing! I couldnt stop reading it I love the different point of views it was like reading Club Dead for the first time, will there be more? I HOPE!!!
I would for you guys to do the rest of the books that way.
Oh wow. Thanks very much Sabrina, that's really cool you enjoyed it so much! Yes - we're actually thinking of doing another one or two of the books. We have a plot idea we're tinkering with. SAD took so long to write! We started in the fall so God knows how long this will take once fully formed! BTW - if you want to see the re-vamped outfits or hear any of the songs, we just updated our profile page.
Sounds good, Ima go take a peek!
I am enjoying the humor is Sookie After Dark; the comedy is great.
Also, I *LOVE* this:
"He growled. I purred. He was needy. I was putty. He was ravenous. I was desperate. He was everything. I was dying. Bill who?"
One of my favorite lines too.
dead with the vikings.. it just udated.... I don't know what to say....
I have to say that it did lose some charm for me when she left the viking era, still I enjoyed it. I think it might hold up better read straight through? Loved the viking village, too! I thought she might take him in his old house and bring it full circle in bed, or something like that. It was a bit abrupt.
Hey guys! Laura and Katherine wrote a fic, which I beta'd called Sookie After Dark: Club Dead Redux.
Oh, wow, that's really exciting! I was wondering where Katherine had gotten to, and now I know she was busy writing with Laura! I'll go give it a read!
Is anyone reading Dead at Sea? It's the latest from the author of The Expert and The Amateur. It's a pirate swashbuckler which has effectively managed to combine two of my favourite things: Pirates and Eric Northman!!! It's full of anachronisms which the author fully acknowledges. She said that making the language and every fact accurate was just beyond her. I'm usually picky about that but I love her writing and couldn't resist the subject matter.... Anyway, the winner of a "support stacey" auction asked her to work in a Night Huntress crossover into this story and she will introduce Cat and Bones as fellow pirates in the next chapter!! I'm so insanely anticipating this! Squee!!!
I have been reading Dead at Sea. I'm liking it so far. I'm intrigued with her bringing Cat and Bones in the next chapter.
It's kind of perfect for Bones, don't you think? He comes across sort of noble piratey anyway! I love how her first meeting with Quinn went! I just laughed and laughed!
Bones can naturally pull of the pirate bit. He's got the right attitude and morals - I can definitely see him sinking some ships. The whole Quinn/Lafayette/Sookie relationship is interesting to me. It's a nice spin.
Sabrina, Liann and Penny and anyone else who has read Sookie After Dark.....Thanks so much for reading and your very nice reviews.
Laura, Ashley and I worked long and hard on it and I am so glad that people are enjoying it.
Thanks again to all of you! I have missed being on here...Glad to see everyone is still here!!
Katherine
Just finished Blue Eyed Beast. Loved it! It's extremely well written and so creative!
Who woulda' thought I would have loved (& bought) a Victorian era Eric & Sookie? Well I did. Totally. It has a moody darkness and a bit of that smoldering, sexy innocence thing going on. I don't know how else to explain it. Anyway - check it out!
Oh & you guys should read this once shot by FarDareisMai2 b'c she practically called the reason why Eric couldn't go to Sookie in DAG in this FF she wrote. Not exact but damn close. She gets props in my book!
Wow. Just read Dead Heart. Your right, Laura - FDM was very close. It's really good.
Wow, very good!!! Man I pray that DITF is lighter...
Thanks for the recommends, Laura! I'll go check them out. I like historical, and love the Victorian era. Such a twisted time: so much repression - "perfection" on the surface/ vice and fetish underneath. I'm excited to read it. Also, really like FDM so I look forward to that, too.
Just reading your, Katherine, and Ashley's fic - Sookie after Dark - right now. Must say I'm loving the different POV, and how your all laying out the Bill rationale!! You guys just nailed him, but in a fair way. You let him tell it so that it seems reasonable and rational while all the time your weaving in his sense of superiority a entitlement. Love that!
Thanks Liann!
DeedeeINFJ updated ERIC yesterday.
I am loving ERIC! That last chapter was awesome. It really highlights how cold-hearted Sookie is to Eric during that conversation after they have sex in book 9. When you're able to get more of what Eric is thinking, it's even easier to see how brutal she is being towards him. She's down right rude. Especially when he asks her what she's after and she says she was after an orgasm. Uggh! Not that this is a bad thing for a women to be sexually liberated, but when he is so obviously trying to be more intimate with her on an emotional level, she just comes across as being crass and tacky!
It was a good chapter. I can't tell you how many times a re-called Sookie a bitch when I read that (which I do every time I read that scene). There's clueless and there's being willfully ignorant. Sookie's the latter. She makes the comment about a guy initiating a relationship conversation, which would normally indicate something very significant. That is, if you're not Sookie Stackhouse. And he was so open emotionally in that chapter - wanting to tell her his feelings... Ugh, I could rant for days, but I'll stop.
The chapter gave really good insight into his possible internal dialogue during that scene.
I especially loved when he told her she loved him, and she said she lusted for him. His internal dialogue was "Bullshit" which was my immediate reaction when I read it. She was cruel to him in that scene.
But take heart. If Sookie was being that willfully blind about how Eric was opening up to her, and what she was really feeling, that's just a delaying technique, not a closed door to the relationship. *Yes I know this could really be in the HEA thread.* But it's seeming to fit here for now.
The "I appreciate you..." always makes my blood boil. Way to make your "boyfriend" feel good in bed with you and and having a heart to heart. F*ck you Sookie!
Pardon, my french!
Hahaha! Exactly. She doesn't give him much of a chance. Sure, it seems like s defense mechanism on her part, but even so, she could be warmer. At this point, hasn't he proven that he cares for her? What would he gain from faking emotions this late in the relationship? How could he "use" her? She already works for him when needed and sleeps with him when she feels like it.
This is fun for a change of pace. All About the Devil Peen: The Legend of the Permaboner One-shot. Eric has a slight problem with the GB and calls the Devil in to help him fix it.
"With his band of merry men (they were named that for a reason, I can personally vouch. Friar Tuck should've been called Friar Fuck as far as I was concerned..."
OMG, Penny, thank you so much for that!! I laughed so hard I had tears in my eyes!!!
I just finished what there is of Blue Eyed Beast and I really enjoyed it!! The author has the attitudes and language of the time down well, and I find the era lends itself very well to vampire stories. I like how she's adjusted the characters to fit the times, but has retained as much of their personality as possible.
I have to say, that deflowering was pretty spectacular!! Actually, I've read quite a few impressive "first times" in FF courtesy of Eric Northman. I think these FF authors should offer an online course as a public service! They could call it "Deflowering 101" or "Getting it Right the First Time". I'm sure men would appreciate it, and women would certainly benefit!! I don't know if the techniques described would produce such spectacular results in reality the first time out, but hell, it's got to be better than what I experienced!!
Oooh, I'm going to have to check that out...
Hey Liann, I liked the Robin Hood references too, and the stuff about the Sheriff of Nottingham.
DAG seems like such a disconnect in that way to me. There she is in FDTW being kissed by Eric, even kissing HIM (albeit a peck on the cheek) in front of FDC. Even early in DAG when she goes to Fangtasia to see him. Then that?!
I wanted to recommend a story that I am reading. It is called Lifting the Veil by Mazza666. Here is the link. I am enjoying it so far. Wanted to give out some love. Here is the link: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5911264/1/Lifting_the_veil
Hey guys. Here is the link to Chapter 5 of my story Perdition. It's got some jealous Sookie, two original characters, Ocella and some funny Pam-Bill, where she hands him his ass on a plater a couple times. I surely enjoyed getting a jab or two in through Pam.lol Very cathartic. Hope you all enjoy!
ok, Meg2, on FF just added her last book in the series. If you haven't read the other books this last wont make any sense to you.
yay! Thanks so much for posting that. I LOVE her stuff....
What I like most about Meg2 is that her stories are complete. No waiting for updates when you really want to know what is going to next.
Everyone has been so slow in udating lately.
Just read the Sookie after Dark Club Dead Redux and really enjoyed it. I am just reading the books again in anticipation of DITF. Redux makes so much more sense in some places.
Hey Lindav, where can I read Club Dead Redux? Do you have the link?
Finally Paradiso is up!!! Thank you for posting!!
Hey Freyja - here you go: Sookie After Dark: Club Dead Redux
Thank you Linda!
So I know that Meg2 has the series post DAG. I've read the 1st 3 in the series for certain but I remember I stopped int he middle of one of the Scenes from a Marriage......I remember she hadn't yet gone to take that job with that Woman Vegas vamp yet...she was wanting to & is trying to convince Eric.
Can you guess tell me which SFAM that is?
Laura, do you mean Salome? In SfaM1 Sookie was trying to convince Eric that it was safe for her and Amelia to go and do the spells, but Eric was very opposed to it. That part? Wow, that was one of the most exciting chapters when they actually go, I was on pins and needles and even read it twice.
In SfaM2 Sookie does an undercover job for the FBI and the AVL, a new FotS type of church is brewing.
Yes! Salome! Thank you! OK so I must have stopped right before he granted her permission.
Seastar08 has a new one up: Better Man. It's such a different premise from anything I've read in FF so far. A superhero story - S&E retain their talents and fight crime - and the first chapter is great! I love this author's writing. She's so good with character development and dialogue. She makes it seem effortless and natural. Check it out!
I am almost reading "LET LOVE IN" and I am really enjoying it! its off abit now since DAG has come out but I is really very well done I also love "DEAD AT SEA"
I love Let Love In, it's a classic FF!
Let Love In was the second FF I read, and at the time I was in such desperate need of some S&E resolution that I found it utterly enthralling. I was overjoyed to read about Eric taking Sookie away for the weekend to talk some sense into her head!!! I really did enjoy it and all the side stories, especially Best Laid Plans. Having read so much FF now, I think I prefer something like Healing Blood for my S/E resolution now, but I still have fondness for LLI. Glad you're enjoying it, Sabrina!! ![]()
Healing Blood has a new chapter http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5457521/24/
So excited!!! My fave Sookie FF!!!
Shoot! You beat me to it, Beatrice!! I'm so glad I have this to read today to distract myself!!!
I know!!! It is one of the best!!
Oh then I am SOO reading Healing Bond then!!!!! I am losing it a bit cause my DITF copy hasn't come yet!!!!!!
THANKS GUYS!
hahahaha!!! Mine gets here tomorrow (if the damn volcanic ash doesn't prevent FedEx from delivering it to Italy) and I'm avoiding the DITF chats like the plague....
Question: I have written fanfic that occurs after DITF, linking to such material should go here with spoiler alerts?...or in the DITF spoiler thread with fanfic alerts?
You can put it in this thread or in the "Fanfic written by out fourm posters thread" - http://www.tangler.com/forum/sookie-stackhouse-series/topic/79416
**SPOILER ALERT** the following content occurs after DITF -- proceed with caution
So I found this just after I read that Caro has a theory that the scene in S2 TrueBlood where Sookie goes to Eric after Godric's death wasn't a dream but actually happened. Imagine my surprise to read a FF based on that exact premise! Of course she takes it further than the scene went, but hey... it's fanfic!! Oh, and it's by greenlemons!
Also, Mari, I loved your comment about Sookie being in bed with two male fairys at the end of DITF and likening it to txone's "All Their Love"!! I didn't read the fic until after I had read DITF so I didn't instantly connect them, but I really laughed when I read what you said. I don't suppose it would be for everybody, and Sookie's really going along with things pretty darn easily and quickly (!!) but I'm enjoying it nonetheless! Call me pervy, but I think Eric and Alcide are hot together... that's right, I said Eric and Alcide!!! ![]()
Liann, yes "All Their Love" is my guilty pleasure too! They are so OOC, it's not really an issue. I mean Sookie does not share. That is canon. Eric is all man. Alcide is all jerky. So its so OOC, just the names are the same. Some of the FFs are like that.
I have to say, I'm having trouble getting into some of the supe stories now that I read DITF. I guess theres' like a waiting period to get past and then there'll be enough distance again? Fortunately, I'm loaded up on AH stories I'm reading. But no one seems to be updating lately. Everyone busy on their third reread of DITF? ANd of course the monster story I'm writing! Is it abnormal to be addicted to your own story? And I keep getting fed ideas in the reviews so even tho I started having it mostly written, that's been shot to hell. Its also much longer than it was supposed to be.
The new one from ericizmine is fantastic. she's got a vamp one "Bored to Death" and a sequel to "Saints and Sinners"
"Home Sweet Dead" is also really good
I guess theres' like a waiting period to get past and then there'll be enough distance again?
Maybe. Because I am also having a hard time reading any Sookie/Eric fic. I'm just not getting into it like I was before DITF came out.
Yeah, Ash. I'm thinking, "do I have to go find a new book to read? How annoying!" I've always been able to maintain separation with the all human stuff, so thats not a problem but def with the supe stuff. If I feel like reading telepath Sookie and vamp Eric, I'm thinking I'll just go find DITF!
Oh, good, it's not just me!! I liked the one I mentioned by greenlemons, because it was TrueBlood related and at this point that's a completely different entity to me!
Thanks for the recommends, Mari! Have you tried Better Man by seastarr08, the author of The Expert and The Amateur? It's a super-hero one inspired when the author was watching Kick-Ass!! It's really fun so far and sooooo far away from canon that I don't seem to have a problem with it! ![]()
I love seastarr08's stuff but I was on the fence about the super hero stuff. (My old gym played the X Men movies on a continuous loop for months. Still not ready to get into that genre, I guess). Loved The Expert and The Amateur.
Its also a bit weird reading Fanfic when you're writing it. I wonder if other writers feel this way? I don't want to inadvertently borrow stuff and I also don't want to limit my imagination to what I'm familiar with. That make sense? Love to hear others' opinion on this.
New chapter of Eric, Ladies!
Blue Eyed Beast updated a couple of days ago.
oh good! thanks Ashley! i love that one!
Thanks J. I didn't get that update!
DeeDee wrote the newest "Eric" chapter so well! I love it.
New chapter of Healing Blood is up!! I am just about to go read it now. The title is "Three LIttle Words"... I'm ridiculously excited by that!
Um, how much of a pimping whore does it make me to post an announcement for my own fanfic? ![]()
Eric's whore meter reads that as: TOTAL WHORE. Oh well. I know a few of you guys (thank you!) are reading it. ROTSS Chapter 41
Has anyone discovered any new post book 10 fanfic?? I am curious to see what the FF writers are plotting for Book 11...
ROTSS: I'm totally pimping my story. I know we have some new posters so I'll include a little summary. I merged my favorite book from when I was a kid—Elizabeth Cadell’s The Lark Shall Sing--and Charlaine Harris’ Southern Vampire Mysteries. Basic story is Elizabeth’s and the characters are Charlaine’s.
Orphaned with no money to keep the house running, the six Stackhouse kids are forced to scatter. When oldest sister Sookie (she’s 27) emails her siblings that the farm is to be sold, they make their way back to Bon Temps anyway they can bringing with them an interesting collection of new friends—including People’s Sexiest Man Alive, Eric Northman. The six Stackhouse kids are Sookie, Jason (26), Tara (25), Amelia (13), Hoyt (12), and Hunter (11). Humorous take on family, friendship, and love. Its not just a verbatim replay of the Cadell book because the SVM characters took over and truly made it their own (I fear Cadell would roll over in her grave if she knew what I’ve done to her story).
If you love snarky Pam and high-handed Eric, you’ll enjoy it. If you want to read what reviewers have called “the most boring Bill in fanfic,” you’ve come to the right place. Sookie’s engaged to Bill but can’t keep her hands off Eric. Jason’s struggling with adulthood. Amelia’s a teen-age witch. Hoyt’s a sweetheart. Hunter’s a smartass who knows too much for his own good. Long Shadow’s their dog! Oh, and Maxine Fortenberry is there too! Just because! As a teaser, Amelia is getting a love interest. Soon. ![]()
Anyone know where txone went?
I have been really busy w/ work and today I wanted to catch up on my fav Fanfics and txone was gone. She writes A Fresh Start and All Their Love.
Anyone know where txone went?
Wow, her blogger site is gone too! I didn't realize she was off Fanfic. I have way too many story alerts going - impossible to keep track
Maybe keep eyes open on these two sites and eventually she'll resurface.
http://mysvmaddiction.blogspot.com/p/fanfiction.html
http://www.thesookieverse.com/p/svmtb-fanfic-author-directory.html
She's gone? I was reading her just yesterday!! Like totally gone? Wow. She did have a link on her author page for her... I think it was wordpress, or wordspot site. Shit, I can't remember, and I don't have it on my iphone anymore, but she defo had another site with all her stories. Hope we find it!!
So... I just started reading the new chapter of Dead To My World and had a deja vu moment. She has an author note in the beginning of the chapter saying someone pointed out to her that Clancy died in the Witch War. And once again, I found myself shouting: "It was Chow!!! Chow killed the witch. Chow died. Chow, not Clancy!"
I haven't been able to read past the A/N.
If the author couldn't get it right, why would you expect a fanfic author to? I have a low tolerance on the supe stories now. First, I don't want to get confused. Also, I dont' want the supe characters too OOC. Its one thing for human Eric to be all sweet and romantic but for vamp Eric to be all emo --beyond what he was in DITF? no.
But you're right. You'd think a FF writer would be able to stick to canon. Probably read the books multiple times (if they're like me).
Once the stories jump the shark, its hard to get back to it. I was enjoying one AH romantic story but it turned out Andre raped Sookie and then -out of nowhere--Eric's like "I'm going to kill him" and Sookie's like "okay". Story just completely jumped for me. Whatever threads of continuity that had been holding it together were completely lost with that sudden "Sure Eric, yeah, kill Andre. I love you. Let's have hot sex." NOw that I write, I realize how important it is to maintain some semblance of character authenticity. Not nec to CH characters--if you say you're going ooc, go for it-- but the characters you create in Chapter 5 should not be unrecognizable in Chapter 8!
Hm, guess this is a trigger for me... esp when I'm all emo wondering how to get more readers. **hangsheadinshame**
I can't really do emo Eric, whether he is human or vampire. I usually don't like AH stories for that very reason. For some reason, when he turns human, he turns into a bitch. I'm not a fan of many FF vampire Eric's either. Not many get the tone right or the character analysis.
I still roll my eyes when FF vampire Eric cries. CH is truly a genius because she managed to write that DITF scene and I didn't roll my eyes once. It never even crossed my mind.
NOw that I write, I realize how important it is to maintain some semblance of character authenticity.
If you are writing a story based on the book characters, you need to maintain that same voice. I can't read stories that are too OOC. That's why I don't read that much Sookie FF.
Even Dead To My World is a bit OOC. Sookie sounds like she is 18, not 25 (which I can see is the author's influence and worldly experience. She just graduated high school) and her Eric...one again, the tone just isn't right. But I still read it, mostly because I'm interested to see where she takes the post amnesia storyline.
I can't really do emo Eric, whether he is human or vampire.
Agreed. Like with Meg2's stories. That E/S pairing need to just move to the UWS and read Vanity Fair and shut the fuck up. I got soo sucked in and then was like...Sookie's bloodthirsty! Some folks just need to get their head served to them on a platter. Sook knows that. Eric certainly knows this. This pansy emo Eric is just sooo....flail...
Ooh, let me tell you one of my ideas for a fanfic. I'm an urban planner in RL and we get to work with humanity's closest thing to blood sucking vampires! blood sucking real estate developers! I have this idea that Eric is a real estate developer in post-Katrina New Orleans and Sookie's a <lol> urban planner working with FEMA and they butt heads on redevelopment plans of the delta. I know its complicated, but I seem to favor plot and character development over lemons (sue me). Besides there's enough citrus. I'm not going to bang my head trying to reinvent the wheel when I feel like I've got other stories to tell.
Your story in the works sounds good. Hostility and sexual tension goes a long way.
I know its complicated, but I seem to favor plot and character development over lemons (sue me).
Me too. I like a healthy dose of each, a balance. I don't usually read stories that are mostly smut. I can't get into it without that character development. If I don't even know who the characters are, how am I going to enjoy reading it?
OMG -the Fashion Saints and Sinners thread just inspired me to a new level of fucktardedness! LOL! I posted a fake chapter to my fic asking for feedback on what everyone should be wearing in the next chapter! Ha ha ha. See here
if I don't even know who the characters are, how am I going to enjoy reading it?
I know! Its so odd. Some writers go all out and are so creative and you can tell they either really are writers or could be. Then some are just piecing sentences together. and then some, while good, are soooooo formulaic. Usually I encounter some authors and I love maybe the first 2 -3 things of theirs I read but then I just can't read any more b/c I know exactly what's going to happen. They recycle the same lines. Don't get me started on the number of stories where Sookie walks into a room and sees Eric talking/kissing/with his hand on another woman and that results in them being broken up for fucking months. Well, if they're that fucking retarded, they deserve to be alone.
http://www.thesookieverse.com/2010/06/community-notice.html
The answer to where txone went is there.
The answer to where txone went is there. Oh, wow! I guess that explains why everyone was so OOC! Probably not so OOC if you read the Elsborg book. Damn! Does this call all her stories into suspicion then? "The Executive", etc. Very impt to give props where props are due. I'm stunned.
I don't think any of her other stuff was plagiarized. I know people won't believe that, or will always question it, but I was a fan of hers, and I really don't think her earlier stuff was.
Ashmarie: So... I just started reading the new chapter of Dead To My World and had a deja vu moment. She has an author note in the beginning of the chapter saying someone pointed out to her that Clancydied in the Witch War. And once again, I found myself shouting: "It was Chow!!! Chow killed the witch. Chow died. Chow, not Clancy!" I haven't been able to read past the A/N. In her story, Chow was not the one who died in the Witch War, Clancy did. I can't remember what she did with Chow, think she just sent him off. But in HER STORY Clancy was the only one who died on the vampire ranks. She is not mistaking the books, she is doing her own thing. And this last chapter was awesome. I love her Sookie way better then CH's, but that's just my opinion. = ) *waves goodnight*
Dead to My world, by Afalcone10
"They would kill us if we don't kill them," Chow said clearly, stepping out from behind Pam and placing his TrueBlood on a table coaster on the coffee table. That was the only reason why I didn't lose my mind right then—Chow the vampire was worried about staining the table.
He continued, "They only made one attempt at negotiation, and it cost Eric his memory and Clancy his life, along with the life of the Were." He shrugged. "It's kill or be killed. Or be killed for the last time, for some of us."
I turned to Pam and asked, "Where's Chow?"
She peered down at me and smirked, "That's the first thing you say when you enter Fangtasia? Where's Chow?"
I shot her a look; I was not amused. "Come on, Pam. Where is he? Is everything all right?"
Steering me to the bar, where Long Shadow's fangs had just popped out (um, ick), Pam used her free hand to gesture as she airily said, "Oh, he's fine, but his hand was cut off with a silver sword during the witch war, and a one-handed bartender is pretty useless. So he's waiting for it to grow back."
Oh, poor Chow. We never were besties, but I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
Ah. I vaguely remember reading that now.
The answer to where txone went is there.
Well, what's the point to that? I'm not a writer myself, but I would assume the whole point of FF would be to exercise your writing muscles in a familiar setting so your don't have to come up with everything yourself. Kind of like getting a head start. If you're just going to copy someone else's dialogue and plot... why bother?
I like a healthy dose of each, a balance. I don't usually read stories that are mostly smut.
I hear you, Ash! I must admit that when I started reading FF, I read probably more than my fair share of smut. But I got really tired of it quite quickly. It actually became boring. Once I discovered the really good writers who create great plot and character and tension it was a whole different ball game. When the sex came along, I actually cared about the characters. It was way more enjoyable.
I was reading her just yesterday!!
I was totally mistaken. I had been reading Ericizmine, not txone. She has a story - Bored to Death - that I'm reading and she usually posts new chapters sooner on her other site. I actually, don't mind some OOC. I find it's a real indicator of the inner working of the writers mind - their preferences. I find it really interesting. Ericizmine's Sookie is usually quite ballsy and good with a "Julia Sugarbaker" moment! She takes it way too far in a couple of her stories and I just can't read them, but this one I find interesting so far. My one caveat is that I also can't read a too emo Eric. It just doesn't work for me... hmmmmmm, maybe that says something about my preferences and the inner workings of my mind?!!
Oh, wow! I guess that explains why everyone was so OOC! Probably not so OOC if you read the Elsborg book. Damn! Does this call all her stories into suspicion then? "The Executive", etc. Oh wow. I had actually told Ash that "all their love" reminded me a lot of "The Trip Home". I don't know the other stories they're referencing. My one caveat is that I also can't read a too emo Eric. Me Neither. I love smut but I am with you. I got bored of a lot of it. Very repetitive but some of the ones that are more passionate or creative...(ahem) Healing Blood (HOT b'c it's so intense & passionate as well as extremely well written & intelligent) & I also really loved Barbara's Good Vibrations which I thought was sweet & different. It's definitely how the relationships play out that makes you care. It's funny b'c I just finished a book in a book series I read which has a lot of sex. This latest one has gone OOC & jumped shark. The author has zero emotional connection so, although she thinks she is writing great, progressive sex - the context gives it no resonance which just bored me.
I love smut ...the ones that are more passionate or creative...(ahem)
Oh, I love the "creative" ones, too! I was shaking with laughter at your story, Laura, of leaving your laptop at work with the FF page open, and worrying someone would find it and "gimp you out" in the basement. OMG, I have had that thought before myself, but I thought it was just my guilty conscience speaking!! lol I was really enjoying "All Their Love". I liked that she had them all actually falling in love. It was different and an interesting concept. I have no idea how that would work in reality, but I'm open to the possibility that it could work for some people. Maybe I should find that book she based it on; although, I get the feeling I'd have to give it the "brown wrapper" treatment!
Speaking of "Healing Blood", new chapter is up!! Chapter 26: Understanding
If you like ATL then check out The Trip Home on FF (it's twific but very similar). I'm gonna find the book too! Now I am curious!
BTW - the last chapter of Healing Blood was brazilliant. I can't wait to read this one!
Thanks for the recommendation, Laura. I'll give it a try!
This latest chapter of "Healing Blood" is so very good!
*Spoiler for latest chapter of "Healing Blood" Skip if you don't want to find out yet!! *
I realize where my brain is residing these days, because as I read it, I thought "This is like an orgasm that's taken a really long time to build up, but when it hits it's just spectacular and satisfying!" LOL I'm so glad she built it up the way she did. I just loved how the author obviously is very involved with the psychology of Sookie - and knowledgeable about it - and how she had her work through all the fear, questioning her reservations for the first time. Taking that leap. She was so brave and it was brilliant! I was just cheering her on as she had one epiphany after another. I get what the author was saying about how CH cheated us out of reading that on the page. I guess it's not really CH style to go deep that way, but I loved reading this version of how it could have been.
I also love how she stayed true to her version of Eric. Lest he be seen as too emo - she did have him say "I love you" after all and crying- she balanced it with his inner anger, chafing at how Sookie had him enthralled to her, fantasizing about returning to his old life by finding a stranded motorist and "not being nice" with her. I also loved how he chased Sookie through the house. That coming up the stairs saying "Come out, come out, wherever you are" in a sing-song voice was very creepy and actually had the hairs on my neck standing up!! And then he just completely turned it around once he had her in his arms. Brilliant!!
I also loved her reworking of the tear scene in DITF. At least that's how I'm taking it. Sookie actually licked the tears off his face as he did hers, their pain intermingled, sharing it, supporting each other. It made me very happy! LOL
***Response to Liann's HB spoiler post***
That last chapter of Healing Blood was very well done. You did a great breakdown of all the reasons why. She is great with analyzing the inner workings of Sookie and how her brain processes things. And, as you said, she is able to make Eric emotional, without making him too emo. She has found a good balance, which is something not many FF authors are able to do.
That coming up the stairs saying "Come out, come out, wherever you are" in a sing-song voice was very creepy and actually had the hairs on my neck standing up!! And then he just completely turned it around once he had her in his arms. Brilliant!!
Yes. I like that part. It was very creepy, yet seductive.
You did a great breakdown of all the reasons why.
Thanks very much, Ash!
It was very creepy, yet seductive.
Oh, yes it was very seductive, too! Sometimes I wonder at what my mind seems to find seductive, though?! Yep, creepy and seductive; her Eric is most definitely vampire. ![]()
BACK FROM THE DEAD
Sookie Stackhouse fan fiction by J. Barrington
The story thus far …
The life of a telepath is no leisurely coast up the bayou. As a matter of fact, it’s more like falling overboard and wrestling with the alligators. Fighting off the unwelcome innermost thoughts of humans, my whole life, proved to be so challenging that most of the locals labeled me as crazy. 24/7, my mind involuntarily read the thoughts of most humans within close proximity. Then my eyes were opened to the mysterious world of the supernatural also known as the Supes. Realizing that you are on the bottom of the Supe food chain, as well, is bound to put a negative spin on a gal’s Joie de Vivre.

Oh, does everyone know that Seastarr08 is pulling "The Expert"? She's gonna try to get it published or some variation there of. Sot it will be gone by week's end if its not already gone now.
Yes, I heard that. I really love that story and thought it was very well done. I wish her the best of luck. As I read it, I remember thinking she could probably tweak it - change names, slight changes in character background and places like BonTemps and it would be an original story. I don't usualy re-read FF but that's one I will miss on principle!!
http://www.fanfiction.net/u/1741802/txone
The author wrote a message.
That is some weird sh*t. I really don't get it. I mean why bother? There's no creative exercise in just lifting passages of someone elses work.
Well.... at least she owns it. Hopefully she'll learn from it, truly & get cut a break.
I'm guessing the fan & peer recognition/love got to her head. In so far as, she loved it, felt some pressure, figured no one would know & to keep getting the adoration buckled & gave herself some help.
I think a lot of people plagiarize or steal from other authors on FF itself. I have seen quite few few authors go off about their stuff being stolen & a few even saying that they no longer someone they thought was their friend, who saw the work before it was completed & ended up stealing it.
It's messed up but I think the review thing & the community/peer adoration - people end up craving it & resort to things like this.
Though, some people are just plain crazy & do this type of thing, no compunction - but I think Txone just caved from the sounds of it. Hopefully, she'll sort it out.
It's messed up but I think the review thing & the community/peer adoration - people end up craving it & resort to things like this.
Well, it is possible to get obsessed <looksaroundsheepishly> but I would stop writing FF before I'd steal someone's words. LOL, at work I have a colleague who's always demanding I use her work. There's some reason (eg legal precedent) but I just cant have someone else's words in my mouth! She's gonna flip when she realizes I'm not doing it her way. Luckily boss-lady is on my side.
I feel for txone. I really do. Don't understand it. But its sad esp in that it calls into question everything she's written, not just "All About Love".
I think I may wonder about 'OOC" for a while. My story is merging an existing story framework from one author and SVM. THe challenge is executing the story but keeping true to the SVM characters. SO the story is different--OMG VERY DIFFERENT-- from the framework book because the SVM characters, given the situations, would act differently. The comments from readers are what kept me honest. They were pretty adamant too. "Where's Eric's balls?" That's part of why I love feedback. Sometimes you can get caught up in the words. Helps to get feedback that the characters ring true.
I've read FF and then read other ones and been like "Did I already read this?" --and I hadn't. so I know it happens that people lift stuff, sometimes verbatim. Again, don't get the creative high from it, so why do it that way. If you have to do that, you're barking up the wrong creative outlet.
Laura, this is the kind of discussion I think I was envisioning for that other thread.
New chapter of Cheeks Red Like Roses for any of you following that story. I just love her kinky, middle aged Eric/Sookie/Bill! She also said - and I know she's promised before but I live in hope - that she'll post the next chapter of "Nesting Instincts" before S3 of TB airs on Sunday.
New chapter of Eric is up titled: Live On
I posted Tissues. Yes, its about THOSE tissues. ![]()
Awesome, Mari! Can't wait to read... well, after TB, OK?
LOL - of course! Liann!
LMBO! Oh, Mari, that was priceless! I actually had time to read it last night before I got to see TrueBlood, because being Father's Day and all, I couldn't exactly kick my hubby off the couch and switch over from the golf game right at 9 pm!! I left you a review on FF.
I liked the notes you struck with all the characters. It was just the right amounts of contempt, resignation, vindictiveness and amusement! Too funny, woman.
Holy smokes... just read Tissues and I must say LMAO!!!!!!
Holy smokes... just read Tissues and I must say LMAO!!!!!!
Aw, thanks. I'm all about the funny!
OK, completely silly, but it's a one-shot so a quick read. It completely cracked me up, because I always think of AS when I'm in IKEA and I knew most of the swedish furniture names mentioned - I even own a few! Allen Wrenches or A Handful of Norsemen
ENJOY!!
Oh so sad. I knew all the names too.
But I didn't know about the song. Have you ever heard it?
I don't know the song either.
Leap of Faith by Missus T just ended. Last chapter posted today. I'm so sad! I love marine Eric and his "bird"... *sniff* ![]()
New Installment of Back from the Dead http://www.brendacarescorner.com/2010/07/back-from-the-dead-deja-voo-doo/
Also new chapter of "Healing Blood" called Cherish. *melt* it's a goodie!!
i juust finished reading Cherish and i loved it!! she always seems to out do herself with each chapter!
I know, Natalie!! I just love that story. It makes me a bit giddy! lol
wow - now I have 4 chapters of Healing Blood to catch-up on! Exciting!!!!!!!!!
Ooh that steamed my eyeballs up Lol! Now I'll have to go and read the rest of it - Yummy.
Hey Gee, I don't know if you've read "Healing Blood" before. If "Cherish" was the first chapter that you've read, I feel I should warn you that it's not all like that. It is all similarly intense and emotional, but although there are sexy bits, there is extreme amounts of angst as well as Sookie is recovering from her torture and has PTSD really bad! But I would still highly recommend the story. Her character depiction is so good, and her writing is excellent. Hope you enjoy!! ![]()
I don't mind angst etc., if it's well characterised and written, it's the quality of the writing more than the plot that makes something gripping.
Oh, then I think you'll really enjoy it! It seemed so much more realistic to me - both from Sookie and Eric's perspective, more true to both their characters and what would be required to come back from an experience like that. There are some funny and fun parts, too. It's my favourite fanfic - hope you enjoy!
Has anybody read Suki59's new oneshot "Let's talk about sex?" .......I swear to god its hysterical. I literally spat coffee all over my computer when I read it.
Anyone reading Fangtasia Stories by Honeypop - They are out-takes of fangtasia that are just so funny, latest one is about speed dating but the funniest one I think is one about the lycra outfit.
I'll have to check those out. TY!
Liann, I couldn't agree more! I love, love, love Healing Blood. There are parts that are almost hard to read they are so heart wrenching. CH just glossed over Sookies recovery but Healing Blood gets down to the marrow of the situation and the relationship between Eric and Sookie. I have to say I am glad that the writer is taking it to a better place as of the last couple of chapters. It was getting really depressing for a bit.
I really enjoyed too. Just finished reading it. I am new to it so I don't know how to find it when the next chapter comes unless I find it posted here. I read a different one but can't seem to find it again and I forgot who wrote it.... .
It was getting really depressing for a bit.
Re: Healing Blood. I'm too superficial. I had to stop at a point. I think I still have it as a fave or something, but I gave up reading it for the time being. It is really really good. Just can't read it right now.
Mari, I understand what you're saying. If you do decide to go back to it, though, I'll just say that all the angst and all the work Sookie does to come back makes the payoff all the sweeter. It truly is worth it if you can ever get your head around it again!
I am new to it so I don't know how to find it when the next chapter comes unless I find it posted here.
Hey, Mary, I remember being really confused about the FF website when I first started trying to navigate it. Needless to say, I have now read so many fics it's a bit easier for me. I'm not sure if you've seen it, but at the bottom of the chapter it will give you an option to add story to favourites. If you click on that box, the next option down is to put story on story alert. If you click that and then "go" next to it, you will receive email alerts when new chapters are posted. If you haven't officially signed up at fanfiction it will prompt you to do so, and then you will receive the email alerts at the email address you enter to sign up with. Hope that wasn't too confusing!!! And, BTW, I almost always post the "Healing Blood" updates here. ![]()
Hey, Katrina and Sally, can you give links for those fics you recommended, if possible? Sometimes it's hard for people to find them if they're not used to the site. Thanks!!
I shall try and figure it out. thanks. I think one of the stories I read was Sookie went back in time. Nail sent her and Eric was a Viking again. Something like that. I didn't get far into it. I think there might have been another one but it was a year ago so I have know idea. But I do know is I got it from here.
I think you're talking about Dead With the Vikings by Thyra10. That's another one of my faves, and it's complete now. Don't feel badly about finding the fanfic site difficult to navigate. They don't really make it easy to search for things. If you click "search" along the top of the site, you have to scroll through a million options to get the the category "Southern Vampire Mysteries" in order to narrow down the search parameter enough to even get close to what you're looking for. I'm happy to help if there's ever something specific you're looking for!! ![]()
THAT'S IT! thank you. Now if I can remeber the other one.. It will come to me eventually.
Thanks, Sally! I'll check it out.
New chapter of Eric titled Release. ENJOY!!!
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6131353/1/Lets_Talk_About_Sex
Its by Suki59 .............whatever drugs that women is taking I want some! This story is hilarious.
Liann-
It seems we have the same tastes in FF. I wonder if you would be so kind as to suggest some more stories for me to check out? I have tried browsing the FF site and I just keep coming up with duds. So far I have the few on this thread you have mentioned and of course the great stories from Miral, but I am ready for some more. I like Eric/Sookie stories for the most part and I like for them to stay in character as well. And of course I like me FF with a twist of lemon.
Thanks so much.
haha thanks Katrina! that really was a hilarious one!!![]()
OMG, that is a hysterical story!!!!!!
Hey Kimberly,
I'd be happy to suggest some of the fics that I have enjoyed. So you like E&S and for them to stay in character? Not sure if you like it to stay vamp or if AH is OK, too, so I'll recommend in both categories.
Original World:
Changing it All is a fun "do over" concept where Sookie gets the chance to go back in time, before DAG, and change things. Not complete, but she's back working on it again.
Dead Ahead is not complete, but I recommend it because it's just so good. Really great story, and the best original characters in FF, IMO. Unfortunately, the author had a bad accident and I don't believe she will complete it, or at least not in the near future, but there's a lot there and it's worth reading!
Blue Eyed Beast is set in the Victorian era. Not complete. I love the victorian era; so much innocence and thinly veiled vice! Great atomosphere and some truly spectacular lemons!
The Fairy Blood Orgy I think this is an amazing one-shot. Very well written; however, it contains extreme violence so if that disturbs you, do not read!
All Human:
Leap of Faith I love this fic! Sookie was heartbroken when Eric ditched her, then he showed up at her Gran's funeral. Can he win her back? This was just so romantic and I love this human Eric.
Halo Effect this is a thinly disguised Alexander Skarsgard fic! The name is Eric, but it's based on a papparazi photo that was taken of our guy!! It actually has been kind of eerie, because the author has anticipated incidents and photos published of AS and KB a week or two before they happen... not that her Sookie is supposed to be KB, it's just weird how she predicts stuff. Just plain fun!
The Education of Sookie Stackhouse This is basically just one big lemon, and it's a bit kinky too; however, there is a moment in it that had me laughing out loud it was so funny, and it's also very atmospheric. Sookie's friends talk her into going to a swinger club with them. Eric, the owner of course, spots her and realizes she's in way over her head a decides to "rescue" her... too much fun. Incomplete, and probably will stay that way, but what's there is definitely worth the read!
Well, that should keep you going for a while!! lol Hope you like them; I won't be insulted if you don't! There are plenty more too that I could recommend, but I didn't want to take up the whole thread. I'm just realizing that I've read an insanely large amount of fanfic.
Hey, NEW CHAPTER OF "Nesting Instincts"... FINALLY! Nesting Instincts: chap 8
Yay! Thanks! You know I noticed that there are a lot of abbreviations. AH, AU, etc. I guess I better study up what those mean! It would make searching better for sure. Right now I am reading "Eric" I have been skipping through a lot of it though because it is word for word at most parts. I haven't tried reading any where Eric is human yet so I'll give it a whirl. It is kind of funny that I enjoy this fanfic but I get mad at Alan Ball for taking liberties... I guess I am a hypocrite, but I don't care.
AH - all human
The thing is, these authors aren't being paid obscene amounts of money to write their stories, they're just doing it for fun and because they love the characters. So if you don't like it, you just skip to another story. We don't have another series/movie to skip to with TB!
Well that makes sense. And AB has the responsibility of putting real faces to our fantasy faces. I guess it is a hard job but still... Since I was a TB watcher before I found the books some of the casting doesn't bother me (Hello Alexander!). But now that I love the books so much I am finding myself very offended by AB and his vision. But he can't please everyone I guess. However, I think that everyone here on this board is right and he is dead wrong... That's why I am so glad I found this forum.
And now back to reading FF.
This episode.... What got me - and yes I caught the "my lover" which in the context of how effing INSANE Franklin is, I found somewhat forgivable just because it was sooooo funny and his calling Tara that was kind of consistent with his lunacy--what REALLY GOT ME and ANNOYED ME AND IS Kind of leading me on to just continue my withdrawal from the show is that they brought back the Sookie/Bill Shmoop Theme Music. That kind of says to me that the show is targeting Bill for the HEA and anything even remotely resembling the relationship nuances from the books (HA!) is pure coincidence. AB sux. Okay I copied this from the other thread just b/c I felt a rant coming on and didn't want to drive Laura and Caroline nuts. So, I'm thinking of resurrecting my "Where's Bill" Fanfic and totally making it a send-up of TB (yes, even more than it was!) Lol, I want to point out all the fucktarded inconsistencies, the characterization WTFs, the ridiculous plotlines and just everything else about it that SUCKS! And not in a good, hot Eric Northman's on my femoral artery kind of suck way. But a... my floor is filled with lint and other annoying shit. I'd better get my DirtDevil out and suck this shit up kind of way. I don't know what's effing wrong with Hollywood? Are they all addled from the anti-depressants, botox, and too much sun? Does anyone remember logic? Coherence? Can they read? Reading comprehension? Do they have any sense of what it takes to convey an emotion? OMG! I hate them!!!!! But I will love mocking them! There, I'm done now. Of course this means the Lemmiwinks-Russell-Talbot story is on hold. LOL. I know everyone was anxiously awaiting that!
Liann!!!! I just finished Dead Ahead. It was soooo goood. But now I am bummed that I may never find out how she intended it to end. Grr. If I may ask, who would you like to see Sookie end up with in this story? I was still hoping that Eric would finally make a plea for her love and say he loved her but I don't think that is what the author had in mind. Even though Mark seemed perfect I just couldn't get behind the idea of them together since they didn't really know each other. I feel like Sookie when she was unable to have her one good minute. Damn. Still wonderful though.
Dead Ahead is one of my absolute faves!! I am dying to know how it finishes.
Actually Liann's entire OW list is also my bookmarked faves list so I back her choices 100%. Defo. Check them all out.
I am not so sure she will finish. She got in in a car accident last year, updated Nov. '09 saying she was back & better & then haven't heard anything. I hope she didn't have some sort of injury relapse or anything.
Anyway - it's really brilliant.
Also check out Nesting Instincts by hdgcat (she did Fairy Blood Orgy too). Liann just mentioned she finally updated. It's another fav (so far, it's not completed yet).
Thanks for all the fab fanfic suggestions Liann, I'm checking into So Hard, The Fairy Blood Orgy, Nesting Instincts and Dead Ahead!!! Will let you know how I go!
Just finished "Changing it All". It is a real treat for those that love Eric and despise Bill. What can I say, I love it for what it is.
There are times reading CH that I want to scream at Sookie for what she says to Eric. In this story, I'm like "That's right Sookie, you go get your viking. Take him, he's yours!" It is also starting to veer off from everything being perfect so I like the new challenges and am looking forward to updates.
So far, LOVED "So Hard" but could not get through "The Fairy Blood Orgy" - the author writes well it's just that the content was too hardcore for me... Onto Nesting Instincts next!
I was still hoping that Eric would finally make a plea for her love and say he loved her but I don't think that is what the author had in mind. Even though Mark seemed perfect I just couldn't get behind the idea of them together since they didn't really know each other.
Yep, that sums it up exactly! My heart broke for Eric in this one 'cause it did look like she was heading in Marc's direction. But, like you, although he seemed better for her, I couldn't totally get behind Marc because she hadn't known him that long so he could still turn out to be not what she thought ... and what a cliffie it ends on, huh?
Also check out Nesting Instincts by hdgcat (she did Fairy Blood Orgy too)
Yeah, I didn't recommend it because it's taken and insanely long amount of time for her to update, but it is really good so far. Actually, I love this author. All her stories are really good. FYI, she is not a Bill hater. She is very fair to him, and tries to give a balanced portrayal. She doesn't make him a saint, she just doesn't demonize him either.
could not get through "The Fairy Blood Orgy"
Yeah, it's not for everyone, hence my warning. Actually, I had to squint through a bit of it! lol If you can get past the torture bit, it's easier to read, and the convo between Bill and Eric at the end is awesome!!
Hey, Beatrice, didn't you read Dead Ahead before? I think I remember you starting it and not liking Sookie's freak out about the flowers?! It really is great if you keep going, though.
I actually skipped the torture/orgy and read the end, the conversation between Bill & Eric is beautiful, I welled-up!
Yeah, I think you're right, I read Dead Ahead. Is that the one where Bill makes a creepy undeground bunker for Sookie???
I may have to take a break from fanfiction for a while. I am starting to meld the book series with the stories I have read and I am getting confused! I have loved all of the recommendations so keep em' coming. I even have my own idea for an interaction between Eric and Sookie but I can't imagine trying to develop a story around it. I admire you Mari!
Is that the one where Bill makes a creepy undeground bunker for Sookie???
Yes! That weirded me out, too. I kept thinking "Are you nuts, Sookie? Why are you going down there with him - it's a total stalker/collector dungeon!" but I promise the story is really good if you keep going, and there are some great original characters, too!
I am starting to meld the book series with the stories I have read
Yeah, that's the danger. I find it gets easier to separate it out with time. I think my brain got used to the influx of new stories, and held onto the originals and the touchstone. It's not plot details, but the mythology that gets confused for me. How is a BB made etc. Glad you like the stories. If you run out, just ask for more.
Kimberly, thanks. I have no idea what I'm doing but its fun. Actually the story I'm doing now is a cross between SVM and another book. It'll be interesting when I don't have the existing story framework to work off of. I'm going to have to come up with 100% original ideas. Not going to be easy. I accidentally came across a way to get my readers to write reviews. I bitched about TB and AB and then everyone just wrote comments to commiserate! I got 10 more reviews and it wasn't even a chapter! Funny. This one was very funny: Alan ball needs to stick Bill up his ASS! I am beyond annoyed at this point. Bill is scum and they keep making him look good and it makes me sick! Bill deserves everything bad that is coming to him - I just hope they allow it and not let Stephen and Anna's real life relationship keep them together on trueblood. Of course everyone liked Bill at first because that is all they knew and saw the romance but that is not really what is going on under the covers and they better start doing a better job portraying Eric as the good vamp her because he is when it comes to Sookie. he sidetracks on the other characters so much though that it is hard to sometimes really understand what isgoing on and that Eric and Sookie are fated! *walks away from temper tantrum...Hehehe! LOL Love the story by the way and please take everything wrong in the world out on Bill! Thats better...![]()
You know before I read the books I was into Bill and Sookie together. Of course AS was hardly on and had few lines so I had not gleamed onto his charms. I ordered all of the books from amazon at once and just poured through them. It does piss me off what AB is doing but at least I know I am not alone. What fun is bitching if you can't do it with like-minded people, right.
What fun is bitching if you can't do it with like-minded people, right.
I know! Its the AMerican way! Its the only thing that keeps us all going!
It is fun - tho- writing the fanfic. I DO try to take everyone in the world out on Bill. He is sooooo gonna get his! I know not everyone has the time for my ginormous story - the PDF is like 400 fucking pages! If only I could channel that energy into finishing my school work. But there's a couple of chapters that will work as stand-alones and I think folks would enjoy them. One has a teenage Godric and Amelia and the other is Bill getting his just desserts. I'm going to post them as oneshots and put the links up here.
^^not everyone EVERYTHING - keep messing up...
So I've channeled all my pent up anger and frustration into writing the most awful character in Fanfic - my "Russell Edgington" -the head writer of vamp television show. Starring Eric Northman, the show is called "Over My Dead Body" and its a vampire remake of "I Love Lucy". (LOL!) Anyway, "Russ" is effing insane. My inspirations are Mel Brooks, Deadwood, South Park, Dave Chappelle. So, if you're easily offended by profanity don't read it. But if you're feeling frustrated (like me!) scroll down. Its the last section.
Here's the set up and its all you need to know:
Eric and Sookie are together. Eric's an actor. He got caught by the paparazzi pretending to be gay with Jason to get away from a couple of "disgusting, worthless vermin" (LOL! My Eric doesn't hold punches. FYI the skanks were Crystal and Tanya in Hotshot.) Russ is the head writer/producer/asshole in charge. So he's ripping Eric a new one over the bad publicity.
Oh, and Damon Cataliades, the lawyer, is plagued by rumors that he's a devil-worshiper. And Pam's Eric's manager.
BACK FROM THE DEAD - REQUIEM TO A SCREAM
Sookie Fan Fic by J. Barrington
Warning: Adult Content
http://www.brendacarescorner.com/2010/08/back-from-the-dead-requiem-to-a-scream/
Okay, this is a one shot I stumbled upon. WARNING it is a heart breaker, but it is almost written like a poem. I read it yesterday and I can't get it out of my mind. I cried. You have been warned.
I am writing a new Bill Hater story on Fanfic! Well, I will write it once I stop laughing. Do you all remember Mr. Bill on Saturday Night Live? Well, that's the concept....lol...
Oh nooooooooooooo.
Hilarious.
Oh you read it? Thank you!! Ha ha. There's a lot of angst. I seem to go for the funny. Thanks.
I mean angst on Fanfic. Not in my stories. Bill is perfect for parody.
Bill is well suited for parody since he is such a joke to begin with. You know, even CH has made an interesting comparison in their potency, and not just the GP. Bill can hover and Eric can fly. I think that sums it up very well.
Bill can hover and Eric can fly. I think it sums it up very well.
I know! She's not very subtle, is she? Bill comes up short (LOL!) every time! Its funny. As I was writing that I was like, why doesn't Bill just shave his sideburns? Even if they grow back, that's like what everyone deals with on a daily basis?? ha ha ha
Bill's carbon footprint repeated over and over. LOL Loved this story.
Ah that was a mighty fine story.
Oops, I did it again. Oh No! Vampire Bill! Chapter 3
Mari, I read the first chapter of Oh No! Vampire Bill last night before I went to sleep. I was lying in bed with hubby reading on my iphone, and was trying to keep quiet and not move so he could get to sleep. It was so difficult not to disturb him as I could not stop laughing!! Hubby finally rolled over to see what I was reading. I think I'll have to read your story earlier in the day otherwise my laughter will keep him awake. Great story, especially the parts about Bill and Eric's (size 13 flip flop) carbon footprints!
hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone knows what that funny swear sookie uses when she freaks out....something with jesussheeper..something...does anyone know what I'm talking about?
the ''lets talk bout sex'' fanfic is soooo funny!! love it!!!
.something with jesussheeper..something...does anyone know what I'm talking about?
Jesus Christ Shepard of Judea. Is that it?
Great story, especially the parts about Bill and Eric's (size 13 flip flop) carbon footprints!
Ha! Thanks for the positive feedback. I added a warning that BLs should not even think about reading it. I got a few really nice reviews today. Altho I may owe someone a keyboard. Uh-oh..LOL!
Marianne, looks like I'll have to make sure I don't have any beverages on my desk when I read your fanfic. "Oh No! Vampire Bill" practically had me snorting water out of my nose. I could, however, have gone another day without thinking about Bill's loins. ![]()
Hey Mari,
today, i had to superwise some of my students while they wrote an exam... staring at them for 3 h straight can get boring so i read your story on my iphone. I had to laugh so much that i had to leave the room in order to not disturb my students. Some were staring at me in a funny way...
Keep on killing Bill! I vote for a hovering-accident!!!
the ''lets talk bout sex'' fanfic is soooo funny!! love it!!!
Check this out too! This is my beta Jodi - VampLover1- and her stuff is fantastic! Very clever and well-written! (She was a HS English teacher!)
I'll have to make sure I don't have any beverages on my desk when I read your fanfic
I had to laugh so much that i had to leave the room in order to not disturb my students
I wish I could take all the credit (blame?) but you know Bill's such a fucktard, the stories practically write themselves (LOL!) Actually I get a LOT of inspiration from everyone's comments over here, so I should be thanking all of you. The only reason I started writing fanfic (my first time writing fiction, ever, period) was because I was sooooo sick of the "Which Vampire" debates.
I love your Bill POV stories. I know we've gotten peeks into Eric's POV as Bill died, but a funny one would be Bill and Eric with their POVs juxtaposed throughout the story.
Oh No! Vampire Bill! Chapter 4
I love your Bill POV stories. I know we've gotten peaks into Eric's POV as Bill died, but a funny one would be Bill and Eric with their POVs juxtaposed throughout the story.
AP, I think you and I are on the same wavelength. Check out Ch. 4, I think you'll enjoy it! Feel free to kick in ideas! 1,001 is pretty lofty!
Mari - keeping in mind that I have only read the first chapter, so I'm not sure about the other 3 ways in which Beeehl has kicked the bucket, but maybe some ways, in keeping with the Sookie books, could be at Walmart, at the library, at Merlotte's, at the Belfleur residence, in Hot Shot, on Hummingbird road. I thought I read some fanfic somewhere that a vamp died because they were impalled by a toothpick - that would be funny, VB dies in Merlotte's while picking his fangs with a toothpick. Just my two cents, keep writing because I sure enjoy reading!!
I love how each time, Sookie is so unconcerned, if not made even more horny by it. And ah love reading it in his Southern Accent.
I love Sookie's reaction in the stories too.
Zinnea, Dallas, and Judy - Thank you for the positive feedback. TB has just so jumped the shark for me, I'm channeling my energies into this. And Sookie didn't know about what happened in #4. High-handed Eric did that fence thing without telling her and it will be completely back to looking like normal by the time she gets home. Sh! Don't tell her...Altho, my accidental formula for the story (except for #4) is Bill Dies, Chapter ends with E/S happy together and Sookie completely ok with Bill's death. Fitting, no? Dallas - Thank you also for your FF review! I'll actually reply over there but I just wanted to say thanks now in case I dont get to it tonight. ![]()
hahaha you included hovering! I looooove the hovering!! Your ff is the best cure against all this tb-frustration![]()
A Post note on the Oh No! Vampire Bill! 1,001 Ways Bill Meets his Accidental and Premeditated Accidental Death
that I thought you all (or most) might find amusing. I am getting SOOOO much feedback and emails with ideas for the kill. This idea of Bill dying is really setting everyone's creative juices flowing. I'm kind of overwhelmed at the 3-4 paragraph emails chock full of suggestions on how to kill the prick. It's like a ...a beautiful? thing...that so many of us...are ....uniting on plotting the death of this fictional character created by someone else. A real fucked up take on the whole "it takes a village" concept. I'd probably feel a little crazier than I do if I weren't getting such a response. There's an old hippie saying (did David Crosby say it?) that one guy jumping around is crazy; two guys jumping around is a movement. Well, there seems to be a movement. LMFVAO! Just wanted to let you all know.
I added a warning to the story description that it was "Not for BLs". They can be trouble on websites. If they bitch on FF, the story could get pulled. FF, like Bill, has no balls. They cave at complaints and then they pull stories pretty much at will. It sucks. Not in a good way.
Mari - can Bill die in the shower, somehow, please? Thanks so much![]()
YES! Shower! YES!
A big thank you to you! "Ah will rest better tonight" knowing this.
Oh, Mari, I have an idea. But you are the creative genius. Can't wait to see it.
Sweet Jesus, my continuing descent into madness. Oh No! Vampire Bill! Chapter 5 If my family realized what I was up to, I'm sure they'd try to do an intervention. Enjoy. Guess what? Bill dies! LOLLLL!
Dallas - please! I need all the ideas I can get! 1,001 is a lot! I'm actually not that good with coming up with ideas. I'm just observant and watch a lot of television. Once I have an idea kernel, I can run with it, but I suck at just inventing them.
i didn't know that your were the ones who wrote these! i feel sooooo much better after i read them![]()
Hi Zandt, yup its me! I feel much better after I write them. Well, sometimes I feel a little strange as I'm googling stuff like "decapitation + tractor trailer" and "bear mauling" but I feel like I'm doing a public service. Seriously hoping TB will get it together so I don't have to go to 1,001. Feel free to shoot me ideas over on fanfic! Thanks!![]()
Oh No! Vampire Bill! Chapter 5 This link goes to the right page. SORRY.
Mari - Ah always read these late in the evening and Ah find it difficult to stay quiet as the family is sleeping and Ah break out in laughter. Keep em coming. I will never look at Yoga pants in the same way.
don't forget to check the Chapter 5 links on my Fanfic profile! Click on "scene stealers" LOL
So happy it made you laugh! I know it was a little emo, but my muse just does what it wants. It wanted to 'ship Bill and Sam for the LONGEST time, LOL!
We must have the same sense of humor, cause I totally get these stories!
Seven Deadly Sins Someone you know may have a story in there. Maybe.
Yes, I've become a shameless self-promoter. What can I say? I'm from NYC. It was bound to happen sooner or later. I guess its amazing I managed to exist with a certain amount of sedate decorum as long as I have. I won't tell you which story's mine though. If you read any of the Kill Bill's, you'll likely be able to pick it out...
Oh No! Vampire Bill! had me laughing so hard this morning. My roommate says it's a good thing we don't have neighbors, the way I was hooting! Keep up the great work!
Ava, Thank you! So glad you enjoyed it! Since TB has us all angsty I thought a little levity might help. Gosh, that Bill is really a great muse for the satire.
BTW, Do you live in Bon Temps? You have NO neighbors? Wow
Ha...We have neighbors, but they aren't close enough to hear anything. Our house is situated on a pretty large piece of property.
AAAHHHHHH! An early morning dose of Vampire Bill's death and destruction is like soft lovely music to my ears. You are truly providing a public service with this one, Mari!!! Bless you.
A thought... kill Bill doing something maybe based on the Odd Couple.
oh Mari, you're the candle in the coalmine
Loved it as usual!!
If i may suggest a suitable death for Bill: Him rushing for Sookie's rescue, who's chained up in Eric's dungeon... Only that he finds the two of them in a yvetta-like situation: he's shocked, he stumbles... he falls down the stairs... onto... something wooden... ahh what a relief that would be ![]()
Ooh, ooh, maybe it could be the life sized Sock Monkey!! Eric could have stashed a little something special in the sock genitals - a secret stake hiding place no-one would think of looking. Yes, I like this a lot!!!
What better place to hide "wood" - punny, totally fits Eric!
A thought... kill Bill doing something maybe based on the Odd Couple.
Mary, (my neighbor! I'm in Bklyn). I was doing a chapter pairing Bill up with someone for #7 and it was kinda gonna be like an odd couple pairing, but your suggestion made me think of doing something with it that would make it even more awesome (and by more awesome I mean it will result in even more Billdo Kickits!). YAY! THANK YOU!!!!!!
vetta-like situation: he's shocked, he stumbles...
life sized Sock Monkey!!
Silke, Liann, I've got this on my list! I love it! You know how much I love the Sock Monkey. I'm actually pretty committed to the Sock Monkey. I've already got a link to the pix on my profile. Just wasn't sure how it fits in yet (LOLOLOLOL!). I think - now - I've got an idea! LOL! LOL! LOL! A hint. SHIT. Does everyone remember how Eric told Bill Pam still had her seamstress union membership? Well, she's an avid knitter too, I'm thinking. LOLOLOLOLOL! That Pam.
Marianne, I wait in anticipation for slaying by Sock Monkey.
Sock Monkey & Odd Couple.... They both sounds so awesome, can't wait to read them
So, I was all set to just post this version of this story as a one-shot and then I was going to add something to the end (oh, like maybe Bill dying?) and have that version be Chapter 7 in Kill Bill. (There's a weekly challenge and this week was "Turn Someone We'd Least Expect".) Anyway, now someone reviewed the one-shot version and put the idea in my head to just have this be a separate continuing story! I'm so confused. I guess I could do this as a separate story and have it crossover into the Kill Bill series. Its my universe. I guess I can do what I want. I guess its okay if I have no mental capacity left to recall RL stuff b/c I'm too frazzled trying to keep track of my alternate SVM universes? Eh? Right? Big Whoop, Who Cares? Well, I'm taking a few days off from my murderous beheading rampage! I think Bill's due for a staking, anyway...ha ha ha..
Mary - Sorry I didn't give you kudos on the title. I was going to give you credit in the A/N of the Kill Bill version. Posting stories multiple times is a 'no -no' so I kept my A/N neutral here and purposely didn't refer to 'Kill Bill'. Anyway, please everyone, feel free to weigh in. I'm really confuzed.![]()
Marianne, I'm really loving Vampire Bill. I used to have a SNL Mr. Bill T-shirt. I'll go check out the above too. Dallas, I'm still avidly following Enough
I found this one and I really like it. I don't buy the magic stuff and it's sort of angsty, but an interesting story. A Change Is Gonna Come After DITF.
In the "Dead Couple," I couldn't stop cackling over the critque of the actress who played Rogue.

LOL! Glad you enjoyed it! I sometimes wonder if I'm being TOO mean...then I think of who my audience is! (Esp anyone from Tangler and I think, NAW! Screw it! ) Jessica's entitled to her own opinions, right? At least I restrained myself at letting her make the "skunk lip" observation.
I haven't posted the chapter yet by Sookie similarly goes off on Anna Paquin in ROTSS. She and Eric are discussing the idea of moving her siblings with them to LA and she goes off on how children in Hollywood are all screwed up. She cites AP (not by name!) as an example. She mentioned having seen her on a talk show and the girl seemed to be unable to formulate clear responses to questions and had little capacity to answer off the cuff. Eric responds that he knows a another Swedish actor (LOL!) whose father was an actor and he grew up normal and is a very affable guy. But Sookie (she's kind of not one to get the wool pulled over her in this story) points out b/c Swedish Hollywood is not the same as American Hollywood.
I'm getting requests to write AB into Kill Bill and kill him too. Just can't call him "Alan Ball"... Ethan Hall? Al Balsak (ha ha..) Do NOT want to go with Alex for obvious reasons...
Dallas, I'm still avidly following Enough
Me, too! I'm so glad you stuck with turning Sookie. Looking forward to seeing how she uses her new power, and which other powers are still left to her. ![]()
Mari, I'm not sure how you could incorporate the Dead Couple into Oh No! Vampire Bill! It's such a great concept, though. I love Andy and you've captured him really well. I just love that he rises for the first time, moves on in and starts taking over. No meek and subservient newborn shit for him! It's lets improve the sleeping quarters and hey, Bill, get over yourself! lol
If you do start the Dead Couple up as a recurring story, please don't give up on ROTSS! I'm dying to see Bill and his sun hat tossed off the porch. I still think there's time for Longshadow to make his opinion known of the sun hat! lol
Loved The Dead Couple. Choked a little when you talked about Rogue.
Thanks Penny and Liann! I hope to get another chapter out this weekend. I keep trying to write week nights but school is kicking my butt this year and we are only one week in. ![]()
Hey everyone! Thanks for all the positive feedback on my killing spree! And I didn't mean to shanghai this thread! Please feel free to write reviews and suggestions on Fanfic! I allow for anonymous reviews so you don't have to have a log in! Just use your Tangler sign-in so I know where the sick suggestions are coming from! Thank You!
Speaking of sick....well....here's our collaboration....I hope you enjoy it....
Oh No! Vampire Bill! Chapter 7
Mari, I love you! That was hilarious. I love what Pam did with the sock Monkey's GP. That was a great way to shut him up and an awesomely degrading way to die.

Mari, chapter 7 had me in stitches! I second Ashley's comment. I think Mary started it with her observation about the freaky monkey from Toy Story 3. What a strange conversation we all had that night!
Chapter 7: Tangler Sock Monkey Kills Bill
ACH! MY BAD! I should have included everyone involved in the Sock Monkey convo on the Credits! SORRY ! I'm getting suggestions from everywhere and (LOL!) I need a database to keep it straight. Anyway, I reread the thread and went back and added folks and hopefully I didn't miss anyone! Sorry! Glad you're enjoying me coming up with sick ways for Bill to die! If only they'd hire me to write for True Blood! (Ha ha, not only would Bill suffer greatly --and there would be no Christ figure analogies, believe me but I think I'd make Andy a vamp! Good clean fun!)
hahahahahahahah! "lethal lothario ways" and "base manimal appetites". I LOVE BILL'S INNER DIALOGUE!! It cracks me up every time. The sock monkey at the end was the kicker. I guess you never promised that Pam wouldn't hasten his end!
