Worth watching purely for the AS bits. Especially when he says 'trust me..." Also to make me thankful Eggs got his head blown off and won't be returning.

yeah i hated eggs he was so whiny and crying all of the time. it was a little annoying just as annoying as all the sex that occurred that season ..

He got hurt when he and Sookie returned to Bon Temps the night she rescued Bill. He was hurt in two different situations. One, at the gas station when he was attacked by two idiots with a silver net. Two, when they got back to her house after the gas station incident, Sookie was attacked by Weres in her house and Eric was shot.

Is that Sookie holding the gun or another blonde waitress? Eric being angry is certainly something to look forward to.

My guess is that it's AB's variation of the the beat down Sookie got at the end of Club Dead. And the man with the Tattoo is a biker were.

Sookie was scared at Merlotte's once, and then at her house too....Andy McKenzie didi only one episode from what i've read and then he should die....he fallows her at her house in wolf form....that's what i know.....

According to IMDB, he's in it in 2 eps.

Nice pictures.  I see in the pic with Sookie holding the gun that they have her wearing the ring that Bill gave her when he proposed at the end of season 2. I suppose after they return from Mississipp (after the trunk incident) it won't be on her finger much longer after that.  I do like the thought of Eric being shown in early episodes.  Hopefully, we will see a lot of him in EVERY episode.

I think the producers have understood that Eric (AS) is a seller, so we'll get to see a lot more of him!

It's probably the fairy blood, since according to AB, that's the basis for everything. She (supposedly) wouldn't be attracted to Eric without having his blood (in the absence of hormones and a libido). Knowing AB, he's probably going to spin it the other way as well. Eric's attracted to her because she is part fairy.

I guess Ball wil let her think this is the main reason now...and then explain it's not the only one.....Eric didn't taste her....so he is not attracted by her for this reason...her scent is not so strong...or every vampire at Fangtasia would kill her. 

i agree with the previous post, since she only has a little bit of fairy blood in her other vampire's cannot sense that in her. Only those of the queens court know this about her in the books and eric of course when he agrees to set sookie up with her grandfather.. than afterwards others know this about sookie. But i guess we will just see what AB does with this info and with TB

agree...in fact i guess AB will put as of even Eric could probably believe it's becouse she is parte fae...and maybe then explain how is not becouse of that...even entroducing Niall.....i mean in the very first moment i figured out she was part fae even me thought "wooow that's why everyone seems so attracted to her"......and then reading the books we find out it's not.....

so i think for some seasons that would be an issue to think about....at least for me...^^

I have no issue with sexual preference, but I am dubious about bi-sexual. I guess you could have a bi-sexual history but if you are in love with and in a monogamous relationship wouldn't that mean that in that relationship you are either gay or straight? To come out and say that you are bi-sexual either means that you are looking to cheat or you are on the verge of saying by by to heterosexual...

So AP if you are serious about SM, doesn't that make you straight (at least for the time that you are involved with him).... That is unless you guys are getting some hot three way action like McSteamy and Rebbecca Gay Harding..

Oh my, it sounds like it's time for Morgaine Swann's fanfic Eric to take Alan Ball for another little visit to the alligator farm! ( Eric and Alan.  If you haven't read it, it really is cathartic!)

You know, I'm starting to think after the further cutting of Eric's hair and now the dying, or letting it go brown, they are doing this on purpose to draw a very obvious line between book Eric and TB Eric.  It's just too deliberate.  And now he's going to be getting it on with some man/men?  Well, there has been lots of speculation that AB's main purpose here is to shock and have people say "I can't believe they're doing that on TV!"  Well, whatever!

I think the Alcide looks good.  He's not my Alcide - I, too, imagined black curly hair, and more of a snub nose, less sharp, which I guess isn't really wolfy, but for some reason that's what I saw - but at this point I'm starting to not really care... I've given up any expectation that the show will follow the books.  I'm just hoping for some of my favourite moments to appear... maybe one or two.. I can hope...

I imagined Alcide to be a bit more refined looking.  Yes, he's a wolf and works in construction, but he also comes from money -- 2nd generation --  and I believe would look a bit more polished.  That doesn't mean he won't wear the work shirts, but he'll look like a prosperous guy wearing work shirts... Hugh Jackman, with slightly wilder hair is maybe more of what I was thinking.

Because I think they're making a statement.  If you will go to all those lengths to change haircolour and length etc. for all the other characters, some of them minor like Arlene, then it makes sense that if you do not do the same for a major character it is a choice, not just the result of another role the actor has had.

Ball's Straw Dogs excuse was precisely that - an excuse.  What a load of crap, does he seriously expect anyone to swallow that?  I have also entertained the idea that this has been done to completely divorce him from Book Eric.  After all, BE's hair was his defining physical characteristic.  It is referenced over and over again, Sookie mentions it constantly.

What better way to kill any association between BE and TBE than to cut it off and dye it dark?

It has definitely been dyed.  Under lights there is clearly a reddish brown tint in it - I first noticed it in the pap photos for the Golden Globes and I had a massive rant about it on the blog in early January I think.  That is also when TB began filming.

His hair was not that color for Straw Dogs.

Wow, I never thought of that Aaine. I think you've hit the nail on the head. A bit like what I'd like to do with AB. It's the inconsistency that annoys me the most. Eric can look different every season, but Bill keeps the same look and Jessica has to be a perennial virgin. I just wish he'd make some ground rules and stick to them.

I think it must just be the lighting in some shots if his hair looks red. We've seen a lot of pictures of him in daylight and it looks like his natural dirty blonde. However, both Stellan and Alex do seem to have some red glints in their hair some times. The color seems to be some cross between dirty blonde and strawberry blonde. Unfortunately AS's hair is very short due to Straw Dogs. But I agree they could have put some highlights in his hair (or found a decent wig). Maybe AS didn't want it.

I have millions of things that drive me crazy about AB and how he's handled the series and the actors, but I don't think this can be chalked up to him.

Do you think that there is anything that can be done post production to lighten his hair? I mean I want my blonde Eric!! Oh and btw Arlene's hair is a wig!  Her wig looks real....why couldn't they spend a little more and get Eric a better wig???  I also watched the commentaries for season 1 and I remember on one episode they were talking about how they put in a few blonde extensions in Jason's hair bc it was after the writer's strike and his hair wasn't matching previously filmed sections.  This could have worked for AS too! So many options in the movie/tv world....I don't like AB's lame excuse one bit!

That's just it.  It is a really lame excuse.  I just can't see AS pulling a prima donna move like asking to change the character because he's uncomfortable, or even having enough industry clout to get what he wants if the director is opposed.  I know he's popular, but he's relatively new to the scene.  The fact is that if AB was committed to TB Eric looking the way he was written, he'd instruct the hair people to do what they had to to make it work.  If he was committed and AS complained the wig was uncomfortable, or had to cut his hair for a movie, he'd tell them to do extensions.  It's not really that difficult to figure out, so he must either not care enough - and let's face it, he's allowed the plot and mythology to be sloppy and contradictory so it's possible - or he has an agenda:  totally divorce book Eric from TB Eric in a significant, visual way.

He's got lame excuses for a ton of things.

The wig did get progressively worse, and I think it's very likely you're right - AB just couldn't be bothered to get his hair people to figure it out.  But it just seems like such an easy thing for Hair professionals to do!  And remember Eric's hair in the viking flashback to when Goderic turned him?  His hair was beautiful!  So, yeah, they couldn't be bothered, because there is a solution if they were willing to put enough effort or money into it.  I guess it just really underlines AB's lack of commitment to CH's characters.

He once said (of his reasoning's for picking this series) that he wanted to do something "fun" after the seriousness of Six Feet Under. His lack of consistency throughout, even with the larger details (really bad editing & tons of continuity errors, bad makeup which is constantly changing before our eyes, bad acting), has always given me the impression that this is more of a pet project to have fun with & blow off some steam - more than something he takes to heart & puts his all into (esp. when I compare it to other great series, where you can just fee the love going into it). TB has always come across to me (except for the 1st 2 ep's & that stellar one w/Godric) as a self-congratulatory, back slapping vanity project. The point being more to have fun & be cool more than anything else.

They are not following the books....she was referring to her role as Arlene, and of course they are not....as Ball said many times they are gonna change all the secondary plots and characters and Arlene is one fo them...so....nothing so new, at least for me.

IESB: For those who might not be familiar with the series, can you talk about how your character fits into the overall story?

Mariana: My character is the vampire who makes Bill a vampire, and Bill is the main character in the show, back in 1863 or something, during the Civil War. He stumbles upon a cabin and my character is there, waiting for him, and she makes him a vampire. They have a history, which we showed a little bit of, for several decades. I think it’s about 70 years, or something. And then, we spend some time apart, and are brought back together in the modern day age and some mayhem ensues. 

IESB: How do you see Lorena? When you play a character that is a bit evil, do you consider her bad, or is she just more about serving her own interests?

Mariana: That’s an interesting question, and I think that you nailed it. You can’t really judge your characters, as you’re playing them. Certainly, if you take a step back, she is quite evil. But, the way that I see her is that she is motivated by love, as sick as that may sound. Her intentions are really all about Bill and her insatiable need for him. It’s really sad and tragic, and I really love playing that conflict.

I look at her as a vampire who is very far removed from her humanity. That’s one of the things that they really explore in the show, that I love. They look at how vampires are different from humans and how they’re the same, and what parts of humanity they’ve retained and what parts they lose. Somebody like Bill is obviously fighting very hard to retain his humanity. Someone like Lorena is far, far removed from it. From our vantage point, it does seem quite evil, but to her, it’s like swatting flies. I think it would be different if she was torturing another vampire, but to torture humans is like, “Eh.” They’re lesser than vampires, and it’s something that’s so distant from her that, to her, it’s not as evil as it may seem to us. She is serving her own needs and her own entertainment purposes. Really, in the end, it’s all for Bill. That’s how I justify playing those hard scenes.

Two interesting points:  she says that the main character of TB is Bill - well that opinion just confirmed what we all suspected anyway!!  Also, she says it would be different if she were to torture another vampire, but what she does is all for Bill.  So either she hasn't read all of the season, or she's not going to torture him in TB...WTF!!!?

Just reading a profile on an up and coming actress, Brie Larson, in the latest issue of Vanity Fair.    Apparently, she thought she'd done a really bad audition for The United States of Tara, and went home and hacked off all her hair in a fit of depression.  The next day she got a call that she had indeed won the role!  She sheepishly explained what she had done with her hair but, and I quote: "They were pretty cool about it," Larson says.  "They put extensions in.  It's all magic!"

I rest my case!!!

we should consider that it was season 2 and Bill still be a main character, she didn't read the book, maybe just book 3 for her role, but she has no idea what's coming next...Bill is ONE of the main character, i think Sam is much more loved than him, and even Lafayette....and we should remember that she worked just with Stephen, so of course she probably has no idea of the general situation.....Eric is a big character, is growing as in the books, but i put my money next seasons will repay all of us^^

I just want to say right now that I'm very offended on behalf of women at this statement. Sookie is the main character and no matter how horrible AP can be at playing her, it doesn't change that the fact that this is mainly Sookie's story. What happened to shows like Buffy? There was never any doubt who the main character was in that show. I loved Spike, but Sarah Michelle Gellar carried that series.

I could see that someone who plays Lorena would feel Bill is the main player if she hadn't had any real interaction with the remaining storylines and had not read the books. The majority of the scenes which involved Lorena in TB2 were with Bill or about Bill, and given what we suspect about the storyline for S3, that probably isn't going to change for her.

That doesn't make it true and we, ourselves,  know better.

But the thing is she is an actor, she is working in a hit tv show and should know who the main character is. Maybe during this interview she was more "in character" and was answering with a Lorena bias. *shrug*

The more I think about it, the more I figure she probably just meant he is one of the main characters, it just came out wrong. At least, I hope that is the case.

I saw the most amazing reaction on a True Blood website. It had one of the early DITF ARC reviews. There were a bunch of hateful hostile posters who said they weren't going to read any further in the series. It has to be because of Eric and Sookie. When someone asked why they were so angry, they replied that they were on a True Blood site, so they didn't have to like the books (of course they read all the previous ones). As if the series wouldn't shift to Eric and Sookie if the books did. I don't care how far AB has his dick up SM's ass, AS is smoldering hot right now and HBO and the production staff, including AB, all know it. True Blood will be taking advantage of that. And just wait till next year when they do DTTW.

i know....i've read a lot of bad things about that and some hateful comment anout Alex too just becouse of Eric that they hate so much...i guess next years will be very hard for all of thme and AB is going in S/E direction with his chagement but is going there....i dont' think would be a problem if some fans sto buying the books, most of the fans are Teams S/E they just coming back becouse of TB's Bill...who btw is the same jerk as in the books, at least for me of course!!!

OMG, Judy, I love you!  You certainly do not pull your punches. I think you're right that money talks, and featuring AS - Eric -  will make them the most money.  So they will follow that arc in the show.

HBO certainly wants the viewers AS is bringing.   I also don't think AB has strayed off the rez completely with Bill, who was progressively creepier in the first two books while Eric's interest in Sookie was growing.  It isn't until book 3, that Bill becomes a complete ass and E/S's flirtation evolves into something a bit more serious.  Sookie is a little more hung up on Bill in TB, but sex sells.  So she had to be busy getting busy with someone, right?

So far, the progression on the show has been similar, if not quite identical, to the books.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it'll continue into the coming season.  A lot of the exposure (including paparazzi style kissy face pictures) that AS is getting is arranged by someone in HBO's publicity department, I'm sure.  They're going to help his career in order to make their show more marketable.

It looks like it will be low production value rough cuts. It's a marketing ploy to get people hungry for the show. I don't know if they will be filling in holes from the books. I suppose they might be trying to fill in their own holes though.
