Madeleine Peyroux's cover of Elliott Smith's "Between the Bars" - Sookie/Eric

drink up, baby, stay up all night
the things you could do, you won't but you might
the potential you'll be, that you'll never see
    the promises you'll only make

drink up with me now and forget all about the pressure of days
do what I say and I'll make you okay and drive them away
the images stuck in your head

people you've been before that you don't want around anymore
that push and shove and won't bend to your will
    I'll keep them still

drink up, baby, look at the stars
I'll kiss you again between the bars where I'm seeing you
there with your hands in the air, waiting to finally be caught

drink up one more time and I'll make you mine
keep you apart deep in my heart separate from the rest
where I like you the best and keep the things you forgot

the people you've been before that you don't want around anymore
that push and shove and won't bend to your will
    I'll keep them still

This is not a song/poem about Sookie/Eric/Bill...But I did think some may enjoy reading it.  I think the line is in LDID...

There are fairies at the bottom of our garden!
    It's not so very, very far away;
You pass the gardener's shed and you just keep straight ahead --
I do so hope they've really come to stay.
There's a little wood, with moss in it and beetles,
    And a little stream that quietly runs through;
You wouldn't think they'd dare to come merrymaking there--
          Well, they do.

There are fairies at the bottom of our garden!
    They often have a dance on summer nights;
The butterflies and bees make a lovely little breeze,
And the rabbits stand about and hold the lights.
Did you know that they could sit upon the moonbeams
And pick a little star to make a fan,
And dance away up there in the middle of the air?
          Well, they can.

There are fairies at the bottom of our garden!
    You cannot think how beautiful they are;
They all stand up and sing when the Fairy Queen and King
Come gently floating down upon their car.
    The King is very proud and very handsome;
The Queen--now you can quess who that could be
(She's a little girl all day, but at night she steals away)?
          Well -- it's Me!

Blessed Union of Souls Eric POV after Sookie learns of Bill's deception

    2010-05-23 15:04:14.0

There's this song by Massive Attack called "Psyche" which has this line that rings so true to me if Eric would say it to Sookie "quench abuse and let love flower, rip the cage out of your chest, let the chaos rule the rest" - Sookie just needs to let loose and let her love for Eric flow freely!

Has anyone seen Kick Ass or watch Gossip Girl? I saw the movie, not the show but one of the actresses on Gossip Girl has her own band called The Pretty Reckless. This song was in the movie Kick Ass, which I recommend, and fits in with Sookieverse quite well...at least when she's considering becoming a Vampire.

they have been playing that with the Vampire Diaries promo.:)

Love this as a TB Bill song (since he has blue eyes) and they are making him out to be a "cowboy" in my opinion (with the whole southern gentelmen thing). Maybe Tara could be the POV.

I might be about to spam this topic oh  no. I love music so much and one of my favorite bands is Maroon 5. They just released a new album and up until now none of their songs reminded me of SVM very much, but that has changed now:).

First one E POV book 7 before the convention. This is the new soundtrack to the parking lot scene (in ch 13 i think or maybe 7) for me.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=duTt7Q2PH0k

This one is E POV again and is more current like book 9 or even 10.

     http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7pvrTztyR04

This I see as S POV in a future book. Like if they do brake up this is what I see as their make up song sort of. Some of it seems more E POV but I just see Sookie singing the corus.

     http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AxNhYjODliA

This one is TB Stoopie POV and is about Bill.

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SHJJcTWRq34

Ok this is Sam POV from the wedding lol.

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NaX46Z8KT64

I really love their new cd:) maybe I'm just trying to find connections lol. What do you all think?

So I was listening to hubby's IPOD today and heard a song that was familiar but I put it into context for Eric and the whole, "I don't like having feelings..." stuff.  Think it is perfect!

Behind Blue Eyes, by The Who

No one knows what it's like

    To be the bad man

    To be the sad man

    Behind blue eyes

No one knows what it's like

    To be hated

    To be fated

    To telling only lies

    But my dreams

    They aren't as empty

As my conscience seems to be

    I have hours, only lonely

    My love is vengeance

    That's never free

No one knows what it's like

    To feel these feelings

    Like I do

    And I blame you

No one bites back as hard

    On their anger

None of my pain and woe

    Can show through

    But my dreams

    They aren't as empty

As my conscience seems to be

    I have hours, only lonely

    My love is vengeance

    That's never free

When my fist clenches, crack it open

Before I use it and lose my cool

When I smile, tell me some bad news

Before I laugh and act like a fool

    If I swallow anything evil

Put your finger down my throat

If I shiver, please give me a blanket

Keep me warm, let me wear your coat

No one knows what it's like

    To be the bad man

    To be the sad man

    Behind blue eyes

    That does sound like them.

That song was the song that started my SVM play list actually lol. I can't believe it wasn't already on one of these topics:).

This song seems to reflect the mood of the end of Dead Reckoning from Sookie's POV.

    "Numb" by Airborne Toxic Event

    I've been in a daze
It seems like days that I've been waiting
    For this dream to pass
    It goes so fast
    It seems nothing lasts
    I think I've lost something

    Stuck here with these people
While you wake I crush our bodies in one space
I feel your heart blood from my tongue
    I wonder where you've gone
    (The bond breaking scene)

And the ever turning spinning wheel of people, places
    Lies I feel
The restless beat of the sleepless night to come
I just want to be numb
I just want to be numb

Hopeless these three years like smoking years
I go from place to place
    Just endlessly and half asleep
Like I'm falling alone at some endless breach

    I don't know where I am
    I don't know what I've done
I just go over it again and again and again
    I can't sleep at night
    I cant breathe
But If I drink tonight I'll get you off my mind

And the ever present pit I feel
I'm turning on some spinning wheel
Of faces and the scenes I see
And none of it seems real to me
Just the bleary haze of the morning still to come

I just want to be numb [x5]

I suppose I'm the only one who is geeky enough to make a playlist for the series.

I got this off of ITune's free music tuesday last week.  You can still get it today I think.

I felt bad for Eric when Sookie told him she wished he was more like Maxwell. Poor Eric has already been stressed with the whole takeover, the blood bond, Pam's mental state, the marriage, his business...then to have Sookie come out and say that, it was just so rude.

Danger Mouse and Daniele Luppi feat. Jack White - Two Against One

Make no mistake I don’t do anything for free
I keep my enemies closer than my mirror ever gets to me
And if you think that there is shelter in this attitude
Wait til you feel the warmth of my gratitude.

One, I get the feeling that it’s two against one.
One, I’m already fighting me, so what’s another one?
One, The mirror is a trigger and your mouth’s a gun.
One, Lucky for me, I’m not the only one.

And if it looks to me like you in your reflection
Plan to add your own fight to this dimension.
Then tell it that this ain’t no free-for-all to see,
    There’s only three
It’s just you and me against me.

One, I get the feeling that it’s two against one.
One, I’m already fighting me, so what’s another one?
One, The mirror is a trigger and your mouth’s a gun.
One, lucky for me, I’m not the only one.
Lucky for me, I’m not the only one.

And if your foot’s on to sick a thousand “yes men”
Brand or brake into the middle of this little plan…
Then there’s your plan to hear me say,
That I won’t play around the way, anyway
I plan to plan around them.

One, I get the feeling that it’s two against one.
One, I’m already fighting me, so what’s another one?
One, the mirror is a trigger and your mouth’s a gun.
One, lucky for me, I’m not the only one.
Lucky for me, I’m not the only one.

Oh great song & fitting lyrics & I love Jack White hugely. I can't get it off the US itunes anymore b'c I'm registered to a UK account now! I make playlists based on series that I read & love too. You are not alone my friend.

I think Sookie is terrified of becoming a monster and what she's been capable of that she is projecting her own anger and guilt towards Eric. I found this song's lyrics fit the emotions pretty well from her point of view. It would be better if the singer was female.

"Monster You Made" - Pop Evil

Take a good look at me now
    Do you still recognize me
    Am I so different inside
This world is trying to change me
And I admit I don't want to change with it
And I admit I can't go on like this anymore

    Erase this monster I've become
Forgive me for all the damage done
    It's not over
    Say it's not over
    I'm begging for mercy
I'm only the monster you made me

    I'm better alone now
See I'm torn from my mistakes
And I stop believing that I could ever make things change
    How much can I take
When I know that it hurts you
    How long can I wait
When I cant go on like this anymore

    Erase this monster I've become
Forgive me for all the damage done
    It's not over
    Say it's not over
    I'm begging for mercy
I'm only the monster you made me

    Because who I am
Isn't who I used to be
    And I'm not invincible
    I'm not indestructible
    I'm only human
    Can't you see
    The beauty in me

Take a good look at me now
    Can't you see I've changed

    Erase this monster I've become
Forgive me for all the damage done
    It's not over
    Say it's not over
    I'm begging for mercy
I'm only the monster you made me

    Far away through the pain
    I hear the angels calling
    Far away through the pain
    I see my demons falling

    Far away through the pain
    I hear the angels calling
    Far away through the pain
    I see my demons falling

    Erase this
    Erase this
Erase this monster you made me

I hope this song is the theme for the new season (With Eric and Sooks of course-- under the sheets)

Like all the boys before, like all the boys, boys, boys(x2)

You left your blood stain on the floor
You set your sights on him
You left a hand print on the door,
Like all the boys before, like all the boys before (boys boys boys boys)

This is our luck, baby, running out
    Her clothes were never off
We still have hours to run about
To scale the map, scale the map, to get us back on track
I’ve seen you in a fight you lost, Ive seen you in a fii-ii-ii-ii-ght

(chorus)Were under the sheets and you’re killing me
In our house made of paper, your words all over me
Were under the sheets and you’re killin’ me

Like all the boys before, like all the boys, boys, boys(x2)

In here the world wont bring us down
    Our plan is golden
Out there a lonely girl could drown
    In here were frozen

    Where did the people go?
    My hands are empty
You’re not the answer I should know
Like all the boys before, like all the boys before
    (whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa,)

    (chorus)

Were in a mess baby, were in a mess babe
Your more is less babe (oh, oh)
Were in a mess baby, were in a mess babe
Your more is less babe (oh, oh!)

(chorus)were under the sheets and you’re killin me
In our house made of paper, and you’re words all over me
We’re under the sheets and your killin’ me
(Ive seen you in a fight you lost)
Like all the boys before, like all the boys before
Were under the sheets and your killing me
Our house full of paper and you’re words all over me
Were under the sheets and youre killing me
(oh you’re killin me, your killin me!!)

Were under the sheets and you’re killing me
In our house made of paper, your words all over me
Were under the sheets and you’re killin me
(killin me, killin me, killin me)
Killin me, killin me, killin me
