    Welcome, Annalise!

I just want to warn you, since you have just finished book 7 (ATD), this site has spoilers all over it. If you don't want to be spoiled, be cautious when reading through certain threads. Even threads for books 1-7 may have spoilers in them from future books.

Ashley, no worries about the spoilers, you guys have definitely marked the site well enough for fair warning. I'm one of those freaks that reads the end of a book to make sure I'm gonna like where it's going, anyway.:)

    2010-07-26 13:37:16.0

Hi, Ladies and Gents.  I've been coming to, or some would say lurking on, this site since Fall of 2009.  I find that I have grown to love the in-depth discussions conducted with such civility on here and, for the sake of my own sanity, have had to steer clear of the shameful shenanigans taking place on other Sookie Stackhouse/True Blood sites.  Thanks for providing that kind of environment.

    NamePey

Where ya from?:  Orange County, California by way of Taiwan.

DOB (decade or century not included if you wish Wink):  Spring 1979

How'd you come by this forum?:  Google search on Sookie Stackhouse Novels and The Southern Vampire Mysteries.

Have you read the books?  If so, how many of them?Started Dead Until Dark over three years ago while taking a break from my umpteenth viewing of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.  (Nothing like a bad-ass heroine who can take care of herself--with a little help from her friends, of course.)  Got stuck on Definitely Dead because I became frustrated with the many inconsistencies in Harris' "fly-by-the-seat-of-her-pants" writing style.  Sometime late last year, I picked up the series from the very beginning again, read each book several times, and just finished DitF.  I've read some of the short stories, but don't know them very well.

Have you seen the show?:  Does cursing through it count?  (I like folgers' answer in the previous Introduce Yourself thread.)  I do, however, enjoy shamelessly ogling Alexander Skarsgard as Eric.

What is your favorite type of supe? (Were, fairy, vampire, etc...):  I have been fascinated by/with fairies, elves, and angels since childhood.  I've grown to appreciate vampires since Buffy first aired on the WB, though my first introduction to vampires was not a pleasant one.  I read Dracula and Interview with a Vampire at 13 and 14, respectively, and I spent both summers sweating beneath heavy comforters/blankets.  (Had to hide and/or cover my neck in case any vampires made their way into my room, was my very warped thinking.  Like that would have stopped them!)  Anyhow, my mother was beyond irritated with me because she found me cowering under my covers, wide awake for nights on end.  "Why do you insist on doing this to yourself?" was her common refrain.

If you had a theme song - what would it be?:  Deb Talan's "Comfort."

And oh, it's a strange place.
And oh, everyone with a different face
But just like you thought when you stopped here to linger
We're only as separate as your little fingers.

So cry, why not? We all do
Then turn to one you love
And smile a smile that lights up all the room.
Follow your dreams in through every out door
It seems that's what we're here for.

And when you can't remember a better time
You can have mine, little one.
In days to come when your heart feels undone
May you always find an open hand
    Take comfort, there is comfort.
Take comfort wherever you can, you can, you can.

If you had a theme movie  - what would it be?: The Namesake, acceptance by way of conflict.

What character from a book, film or song do you identify most with?:  I suppose many of us fancy ourselves a little bit like Elizabeth Bennet of Pride and Prejudice.  As I've gotten older, I've found myself identifying more with Anne Elliot (of Austen's Persuasion).  And, of course, my gawky, inner nerd must give a nod to Willow Rosenberg of Buffy fame.

If you were a piece of fruit, what would you be & why?:  Persimmon--sweet and somewhat tangy.  I've heard the Caucasian Persimmon referred to as "nature's candy," but I can only vouch for the Japanese/Asian variety. Wink

Welcome Pey. I'm Judy and I live in the San Fernando Valley. Although I lived in West LA for 30 years. clubEric is also an LA girl.

I also lurked for a long time before joining. And I was impressed with the intelligent in-depth discussion and the civility. Occasionally, we get a crusading BL here on a mission to show us how wrong we are, but that is infrequent.

    2010-07-27 23:14:09.0

Hello all newbies! Welcome & thanks for intro-ing yourself.

Pey, I am a huge Buffy fan myself. There re quite a few on the forum, you're in good company. Hope you all enjoy.  - Laura

    2010-07-27 23:29:32.0

Hi, Judy and Laura.  I'm still catching up on some of the threads.  Haven't been here in a few weeks (due to work obligations).  I finally had a chance to finish up my DitF reading and got around to watching the latest True Blood episode last night.  I'll join in on the discussion in the correct threads.

*Sigh* This weekend, I stupidly went and read the comments on several sites regarding Alan Ball's statement at Comic-Con about Bill and Sookie being "soulmates," and felt my IQ drop a few points.  Talk about nasty.  Glad to see that discussions are still friendly and thoughtful around here. Laughing

How'd you come by this forum?:  Google search on Sookie Stackhouse Novels and The Southern Vampire Mysteries

Have you read the books?  If so, how many of them?:  Just recently read and re read all of the series. Absolutely fell in love with it. Next planning on reading some of the FF. I heard it's pretty great:)

Have you seen the show?: Watch it every week...mostly through tortured eyes.... except when AS is on screen;)

What is your favorite type of supe? (Were, fairy, vampire, etc...):  vampire for sure!! I've always been a little strangely obsessed with anything that has to do with vampires. I love the fairies and werewolves, but there is such a sleek and mysterious way about vamps.

If you had a theme song - what would it be?:  CELEBRATE GOOD TIMES COME ON! haha

If you had a theme movie  - what would it be?:

What character from a book, film or song do you identify most with?:  Honestly, with sookie. Apart from the whole supernatural vampire/reading minds thing she has going on she is always Surrounded by men, waitressing on people she doesn't necessarily want to, and being ogled at for being a pretty blonde hair blue eyed girl.

    2010-07-28 12:46:12.0

Hi, my name is LILY. I live in NYC, presently in college. BIG fan of the sookie stackhouse books and wish they will never end. i read them more religiously than i do my textbooks...hahaha. if it was up to me sookie would give quinn a second chance but with eric in the picture it's hard to choose since i find them both to be amazingly attractive. Also big fan of True Blood even when they don't follow the book, like the whole how weres can be born from a were and human couple, i like the exculsiveness in the book more. Found this forum when searching for any news on book 11 of the books. Nice to meet everyone!

    2010-07-28 12:52:44.0

Welcome Pey, Emmylee, and Lily!  I am one of the many Buffy fans on here, and I love it when we get more so i don't think everyone is thinking "Snuh?" when I make a reference.  lol

We like to use first names on here, so thanks for filling out your profile with your first name, Pey!  Emmylee and Lily, could you do that too?  I'm pretty good at remembering, but it really helps to be able to quickly check in a pinch.  I look forward to reading your posts, guys!   Smile

I read them in one week from start to finish, and then started over again.

    2010-08-16 02:10:08.0

    there*

    2010-08-16 02:11:01.0

There are 10 novels and there is a book of Sookie's short stories. Although she recently published another short story not in that collection. They aren't huge books though.

    2010-08-16 02:12:37.0

Hmmm...they sound like quick reads. But I have 2 questions about next weeks episode, or the preview for it. What is going on at the very end of it all with Lafeyette and Jesus? and Are Sookie and Eric going to get together...I know its a spoiler but I'm dying to know

    2010-08-16 02:15:05.0

I think that Eric is going to kiss and bite Sookie, but nothing else. And I'm guessing it's some kind of witch stuff happening with Lafayette and Jesus. Here we go: anything else about Eric and Sookie or witches and that's all next season. We all know, so if you want me to, I'll tell you. Let's take this over to the Ep 10 thread, since we try to keep on topic (not that we all don't fail at it all the time).

Have you seen the show?: Yeppers, all of them.

What is your favorite type of supe? (Were, fairy, vampire, etc...): Hmmm, I think weres might be smelly, vamps might smell too so I'm going to go with fairies because they must smell good right?

If you had a theme song - what would it be?: That's easy - "Push It" by Salt & Pepa - totally kickass. Or "I Believe in a Thing Called Love" by The Darkness

If you had a theme movie  - what would it be?: Oh, Kill Bill for sure.

What character from a book, film or song do you identify most with?: The Bride in Kill Bill. If someone took my kids from me like that you bet your sweet ass I would hunt them down.

    2010-08-16 10:00:50.0

Bienvenue, Jennifer!  Hope you enjoy the forum.  I like Muse as well.  My 10 yr old was listening to the song for the first time and said it reminded him of "The Matrix"!  It was a new on to me, but made me laugh!  Smile

    2010-08-16 10:17:05.0

At least it doesn't reminds him of twilightTongue out sorry if you like the movies/books, but I just found it riddiculous of much Stephenie Meyer wants Muse to do almost the entire soundtrack because she likes them Undecided

    2010-08-16 10:22:40.0

I liked the books for what they were.  Intended for a teen audience.  Much of it was ridiculous, but I thought that what she did well was capture the feelings/sensations of the first love, first touch, first kiss etc.  She was really good with atmosphere and occasionally humour.  I hated the movies, though, and I wouldn't let my 10 year old son near them!!  Horrible messaging to or about girls.

    2010-08-16 10:32:43.0

I loved the Twilight Saga (that's what they call them now, eh?). It resurrected my love for reading, and love for vampires. After Anne Rice I just went into a lull and didn't give much effort to read. But after reading Twilight, I fell in love all over again. Made me reminisce my high school days, haha!

I wouldn't want to be Bella (both Book Bella and Movie Bella) since she's too insecure and weak. But I would love me some Edward Cullen, even though he's uber-possessive and protective. I also love Robert Pattinson by the way. But AS will always be first on my list.

If you had a theme song - what would it be?:       probably would depend on my mood

If you had a theme movie  - what would it be?: .    I will sound cliche, but my friends and I are like the women from Sex and The City. We discuss everything at lunch, just like those women. Only we are on the prairies, so we're like the Sex and the City women driving big vehicles. And I have nice handbags, but my shoes are built for comfort, and snow.

What character from a book, film or song do you identify most with?:     not sure

If you were a piece of fruit, what would you be & why?:    a fruit cup - i like variety and I'm easy going.

Welcome, Jennifer and Kris! Looking forward to reading your thoughts (just like Sookie)!

    2010-08-16 10:39:06.0

I heard good things about the books, maybe I'll read them some day but I hated the movies. I didn't like how Bella looked so depressed about loosing Edward but then when he comes back she can't decide between him and Jacob? It's like telling it's okay if you are with someone but kiss your best friend because you love him too but less than your boyfriend, it's sending a wrong message to girls. Anyway, we're not here to talk about Twilight so let's just put this aside Laughing

    2010-08-16 10:41:34.0

It resurrected my love for reading, and love for vampires. After Anne Rice I just went into a lull and didn't give much effort to read.

Oh, wow, Karla!  I had the exact same experience.  I kind of overdosed on Anne Rice and didn't read much after that, and definitely nothing vampy.  That's really interesting...

Kris, could I ask you to fill in your real name on your profile.  Just Kris will do.  We try to use first names on here, but my two-kid-brain has a hard time keeping track of all of them! lol  If I can just hover my cursor over the handle and get the first name in the pop-up, it really helps!!  Thanks   Smile

I guess that means we're on the same wavelength, Liann! That's another thing I love about this forum. We're all over the world but we find something (or someone, such as AS) that links us. It's nice to know you're not alone in your craziness. Laughing

    2010-08-16 10:49:32.0

Definitely, Karla.  I had this warm, fuzzy feeling reading DITF, and It wasn't because of the writing or content!  lol  It was because I knew there were thousands of us reading it pretty much all at the same time.  Maybe it's a female thing, but it was a weird kind of solidarity.  Vamp lovers unite!!!  lol

Oooo do you know how to make that???

I know a few tricks but a real souffle is pretty hard to make. I cheat by adding reg. chocolate to the center of the mini cakes to have them melt when you bake it. I have a wicked wicked very easy receipe for a great simple chocolatecake though. I'll post later in the random thoughts thread:)

Well, I figured something local was apt and Mad Max was less appealing...

    2010-10-03 08:04:07.0

hello everybody, like some mentioned above i too have been lurking around before I joined this forum. Its a great one, and some of the discussions showed me things I didn't see while reading the books.

I was wondering how you all will take me to be, since I am from a world that is totally opposite to yours in many ways. I am sure none you have even heard of the country I am from. But I kinda told my self that I had to start somewhere. So, here goes nothing.

    Name:   Rumpa

Where ya from?: Bangladesh (have you heard the name?? I am guessing no. It's a small country beside India)

DOB (decade or century not included if you wish Wink): 1 December, 1988

How'd you come by this forum?: One day I got stuck where Sookie thinks to herself that she heard Eric in her mind twice. So I googled it, and i found this site. From then on I come here often when i think about the Sookie Eric relationship.

Have you read the books?  If so, how many of them?:Well at first i heard about Alexander Skarsgard. And i knew he was in TB. So, I was interested to know what the fuss was about. And I got hooked. I read all the books within 15 days.

Have you seen the show?: Yes. Though I don't like the show all that much because they changed the story sooo much. K hate what they have done with all three of the characters. Sookie is a big bimbo, Bill actually has much more depth(which would have been positive, if I weren't such a big fan of Eric), and Eric has lots of dimension to his character from the book.

What is your favorite type of supe? (Were, fairy, vampire, etc...): Vamps. There immortality, their inability to grow old with their loved ones, their somewhat antagonistic relationship with humans, the whole deal is so intriguing to me.

If you had a theme song - what would it be?: Ronan Keating - When you say nothing at all

If you had a theme movie  - what would it be?: None.

What character from a book, film or song do you identify most with?: Recently, with Sookie. I feel the need that she still has for her grandma, I see why she hasn't truly accepted Eric yet, I see why she wants to help people so much even when they haven't really been nice with her.

If you were a piece of fruit, what would you be & why?: None.

    2010-10-16 10:23:17.0

Welcome, Rumpa. I've definitely heard of Bangladesh, just haven't had a chance to visit.  I hope you like it here. Laughing

    2010-10-16 13:15:22.0

Welcome.  I've heard of Bangladesh too.  Enjoy.

    2010-10-16 15:13:21.0

I was wondering how you all will take me to be, since I am from a world that is totally opposite to yours in many ways.

Hello, Rumpa! Welcome! It doesn't matter which part of the world you come from in this forum. The fact that we share love for SVM and AS is enough for us to start somewhere and bond. I'm a Filipina who definitely heard of Bangladesh. Wink

    Looking forward to your thoughts!

    2010-10-16 16:15:06.0

Welcome to the forum, Rumpa.  I had classmates in high school whose families emigrated from Bangladesh.:)

    2010-10-16 17:11:48.0

    Welcome to the forum! Smile

    2010-10-16 17:45:53.0

awww this is so cute of all of you to welcome me this way. I am honored.

    2010-10-17 11:22:38.0

We're glad to have you and look forward to your insight on SVM.

    Greetings y'all!!!

I'm positively buzzing that I happened upon this forum to indulge my obsession with Sookiverse.

What is your favorite type of supe? (Were, fairy, vampire, etc...) : Hmmm, for what purpose?lol

I think the weres and shifters intrigue me most due to their unavoidable dual nature. Civilization vs primal instinct. I think Sookie needs to watch and learn instead of clinging to that damned fence of hers

Have you seen the show?: Of course.

What is your favorite type of supe? (Were, fairy, vampire, etc...): I love the indestructibility of a vamp.

What character from a book, film or song do you identify most with?: Honestly, this changes with my mood and mindset.

    Name: Lexie

    Where ya from?: Toronto, Canada

DOB (decade or century not included if you wish Wink): April 14, 1989

How'd you come by this forum?: Trying to decipher some details that were bothering me, and google pointed me here

Have you read the books?  If so, how many of them?: I've read them all.

Have you seen the show?: Yes, but I prefer the books, personally.

What is your favorite type of supe? (Were, fairy, vampire, etc...): I couldn't say....they all have their faults. Probably shifters like Sam (as, to me, that would be the most desirable), though not Sam himself. Though vampires would be a second. I just feel like Weres and Vampires, possibly because of their grouping together, are too far outside society. Shifters, being more loners, seem to fit in more with humans.

If you had a theme song - what would it be?: Banana Rejection by Silent Drive. It was kind of a soundtrack for my friends and I in our crazy highschool days

If you had a theme movie  - what would it be?: Probably a coming of age, as I'm a little behind on the "what do you want to be when you grow up" front.

What character from a book, film or song do you identify most with?: I identify a lot with Rachel Morgan from the Hallows series.

If you were a piece of fruit, what would you be & why?: Hmmm....a lemon? tart and sour, but people still seem to like me;) and I go well with a wide variety of other things (people). Though lemons are also my favourite, so maybe I'm projecting a little.

    2011-10-23 12:49:36.0

    Hey Ladies!

I was just cleaning out my favorites list and found this site. Wow it has been awhile, but I still recognize some of the names on here. I just wanted to say hi. Laughing

    2011-10-24 23:54:07.0

Name: Hello! My name is Jule, and I am so happy to be amongst like minded people who love all things Sookie.  It feels good to know there are other people out there who care about Sookie and co. as much as I do.  I was beginning to feel that my friends and family think I am a mad woman just because I think about and love to talk about imaginary people.  They just don't get me sometimes!  Well, at least I can stop talking my sister in to a stupor when I talk about Sookie and Eric, I am sure she'll appreciate it Laughing

    Where ya from?:  Rhode Island

DOB: May 12, '76 which makes me a Taurus which is very compatible with Virgos (Alex is a Virgo) lol. Could it be written in the stars???

How'd you come by this forum?: Googled "Bombs in the Garden" and I landed here.  I also believe I was destined to come across a group of like-minded folks that dream, drool, obsess over blonde vampire vikings and the actors who portray them!

Have you read the books?  If so, how many of them?:  Yes, I've read all 11 books and I am trying to reread 'em again but it's hard to get thru DUD with all the heavy Bill and light Eric!

Have you seen the show?:  Yes.  I live for Sunday nights!  But now that I've read the books I will never look at it the same again.  True Blood, true confession:  I think that the main reason, possibly the only reason, I love the show is because I have been blinded to the general crapiness the show can be sometimes...blinded by one smoking hot Alexander Skarsgard.  Oh well, if loving him is wrong, I don't want to be right, so I will still watch the show, but I love book Sookie and Eric more than the tv characters and the out of whack story lines as told by Alan(wrecking) Ball. JMHO!  I will just let my lusty mind appreciate what is, a show about vampires. blood, and sex, sex, sex.

What is your favorite type of supe? (Were, fairy, vampire, etc...):  Vampire of course!

If you had a theme song - what would it be?:  hmmm.  That's a toughie, but if I have to pick one song I'd say, "Golden" by Jill Scott.  However, the theme song I often hear in my head when I think about Alexander Skarsgard is a weird song that was out in the 90's, a one-hit-wonder, I think the group was called the Divinyls (lol)!!!

If you had a theme movie  - what would it be?:  Well, I love movies as much as anybody, but considering that the only movie I've ever bought on VHS and DVD to watch over and over again is GWTW.  I am just a hopeless romantic and a believer in love against the odds or love conquerors all type of chick!

What character from a book, film or song do you identify most with?:  I read a lot, however, I read fiction pretty sporadically and I seldom read series or genre books.  But, the ones I seem to enjoy the most tend to have mc's that tend to be looked down upon by most, outcast, odd ball out, and are underestimated like Sookie.  In fact, until I read SSS, I've never identified with a fictional character as much as her in spite of our obvious differences.

If you were a piece of fruit, what would you be & why?:  The only fruit that instantly comes to mind is a banana.  I guess because I have a thick skin but I can still bruise and I really am sweet and mushy inside.  I am also a huge fan of "hot monkey sex" and monkeys like bananas, right!!

    2011-11-09 20:52:01.0

welcome jule, im sure you'll enjoy it here, the best Sookie forum IMO. know what you mean about being able to talk to like minded people. luckily my sister feels the same way - its our husbands who's eyes glaze over when Sookie is mentioned!

    Hi Jule,  Welcome

    2011-11-10 15:05:37.0

Hey, Jule!  Thanks for saying "Hi" and telling us a bit about yourself.  I had the same experience with talking people's ears off.  You know you've gotta do something when you find yourself approaching random people who are carrying a SSS book and start trying to talk to them about it!!  So glad I found this forum.  Look forward to your posts!
