It's ok. We can all laugh at the idiots. Ignoring the books, AS is smoking hot and HBO (and maybe even AB) know that. They'll do what they can to keep him up front in the story. I mean my friend who introduced me to the books and show is not a fan of any of the men in particular. She always plays devil's advocate to my Eric love but she uses valid points and truely cares for Sookie and sides with her decisions not just blindly follows one man so I forgive and accept her. SHe does sometimes make me think twice about Eric stuff but in the end his actions speak louder then words and as far as suiters go he is by far the best.

And S4 is all Eric and hot Eric sex. And we get to see his softer side.

Besides, there is a lot to the books than the men. But I will admit, I started reading the books when I saw AS as Eric. It turned out that I really loved the books more than the show. But I love both TV Eric and Book Eric.

I just checked out the comments there too.  I had to stop.  Couldn't believe what they were saying.  This was the first and only  site I have ever looked at and I never left.  I saw the show first. when they repeated the 1st season really liked it.  Then found out about the books.  I  couldn't wait till I read them.  So much better.  I don't bother looking at other sites it will just bother me. They have no clue.  Books are always better IMO.

Chelsea, as I mentioned in another thread (don't remember which), don't read True Blood's Nest... ever... seriously.  Will make your blood boil.  I found that site during a search for True Blood spoilers.  (I desperately wanted to find out if AB was going make TB Eric as prominent of a figure as SVM Eric is in Sookie's life.)  What I found out is that the majority of the people who leave a comment at TB's Nest are BLs, and they take pleasure in being mean to anyone who doesn't share their view.  As Karla and Judy have pointed out, those posters, much like the BLs on CH's site, are delusional bullies who really aren't worth your time.

Karla, I have to wonder why it's significant that Hallow is a necromancer and what impact that has on the rest of the TB story.  CH makes it pretty clear that not only are Hallow and Mark drinkers of vampire blood, but that they more than tap into the black arts/magic.  But, communicating with the dead?  Hmmm... I'm sure AB is going to diverge from the mythology set forth by CH in SVM.  I thought that it was explained somewhere (I forget where) that the undead/vampires don't have spirits/ghosts.  Assuming that is the case, what would they be communicating with?

tied to Sookie: Her Grandma, her parents! Rene (who also has a connection to Holly over Arlene now), maybe Hadley (pure speculation since she dies later in the book), different dead waitresses, maybe even Franklin Mott (thinking of the bookscene with him, Tara and Eric)

It's a different approach from the book, but i'm kind of happy with it. So many possibilities to bring back characters of the show who already left

I like the observation about the ectoplasmic reconstructions performed by the witches, Gee.  However, I still don't think it's quite the same.  Remember when SVM Sookie spoke about how eerie it was to see "Hadley" without being able to communicate or interact with her?

Did anyone else notice that Bill included the idea of the Fae being aliens in episode 10?  Maybe it's a common idea, IDK, but it reminded me of their explanation in the Fever series... so another author's idea AB is ripping off?!!

It does not mean that anyone is going to be medicated. It was a joke. It was facetious. It was not serious. I think what he meant was that people aren't going to be doing all that well at the end of season. He meant the opposite from them being on drugs and medicated to be happy. He meant they are going to stressed and unhappy. And if we're lucky, he will breaking up Sookie and Bill. It has to set up the situation where Sookie takes in an amnesiac Eric next season. Silke, I think that's exactly it. I think it will only be Eric that loses his memory. I think he and Sookie will have sex and grow close. Maybe there will be some Alcide flirting, but that relationship can't really go anywhere, at least not while Eric is in the picture. However, like the books, when Eric does get his memory back, Sookie will go back to distrusting him.

I don't think that SA will survive the season finale.  After all, she is the one that wanted Sookie to begin with and sent Bill to "procure" her.  Eric knows this as well.  Leaving her alive would keep Sookie in dire danger.  No, I think we'll see both Eric & Bill work together on this.  And I think with RE & SA gone that will be the major shift in the Vamp hierarchy.   They can always blame RE for her demise.

That's a good question.  Perhaps, the Authority won't want to replace them given the fact that the AVL is trying to show the human public that they are just like them.  They need to revamp (lol) the whole hierarchy system maybe opt for a more democratic political structure. RE showed them what Kissinger said "Absolute power corrupts absolutely". In order to truly mainstream they would need to be a part of our political system.  But, for now they will probably integrate it into 1 or 2 other territories.

I think that AB was specifically referring to the ability to use magic against vamps. So that will be how Eric loses his memory. I suspect they will make Jason a were-panther, since he wore a cap in S1 with a panther on it.

It happens in book four. I mean he doesn't turn till the full moon at the start of book 5 but he is missing most of book four being bitten. It isn't being sped up, it is right on track unlike most plot lines.

He does say that you could get a rough idea of what's happening next by reading book 4. I hope TB writers rethink their fairy vision a little. What made CH fairies interesting was that they were fitting in with people (and possibly enjoying the role playing) and not what you would expect. A Fairy driving a Chevy and working at a strip club or at the mall is funny and unexpected. I have always imagined Claudine as bubbly and fun.

Irish actress Fiona Shaw has been cast as the new character “Marnie”, reports Deadline.  Fiona Shaw is probably best known in the U.S. for her role as Aunt Petunia in the Harry Potter movies. 

Marnie is a mousy, timid and secretly self loathing storefront medium and palm reader who is taken over by the spirit of a powerful witch.

The character was originally envisioned younger but is being adjusted for Shaw. After this... I have a buttload of grading to do so I put on True Blood and I am watching Season two.  And gasp... I had a little drop of faith to place in AB.  Even though it is true that we have to wade through a load of dung we do eventually get some semblance to the book.  I just feel like we will get AE but maybe not right away.  The reason is AB's subtle foreshadowing.

For example:

"What else are you hiding from me BIll?"  "Nothing."   (yeah right)

and my favorite from Jessica:

"Oh you are sooo not Eric!" (I think this is Foreshadowing because AB let us see Bill's inner douche bag he just let all the shit hit the fan at the finale.  But that line saying that Bill is so not Eric sets it up for comparison.

I don't know but I am a huge observer of foreshadowing...

True Blood is about to go into production on season 4, and Sam Trammell is whetting our appetites with a few teases. He’s read the first few scripts for the season and says we’ll get our first “holy crap!” moment immediately in the season premiere. Also happening immediately? More Sam nudity. It doesn’t sound like it’s of the amorous variety, though.

“There are gonna be some really cool shapeshifter-y things happening,” he says. “There might be a shapeshifter community that we meet. And I can’t say what it is, but there’s something that happened that sort of changes everything, something at the beginning changes everything in town. So it’s going to be cool, because you have the same characters and the same deal, but there’s going to be something that makes it all fresh.”

New cast members have been announced on the IMDb.com for True Blood Season 4. Both of these roles are listed as being in the first two episodes, so far. The filming commenced this week on the new season and we’re told that this week was filmed at “Fangatasia”.

Well, AB has certainly gone away with the "olive-skinned" gorgeous Claude. Neil Hopkins is as white as a vamp.

My guess is that Bill will be paired up with Portia Bellefleur.  She did "date" him with the agenda of clearing her brother's name in... Deadline has the scoop on two more additions to the True Blood season 4 cast. First In Treatment‘s Dane DeHaan joins in the recurring role of Timbo, one of the teenagers Jason takes care of in Hotshot. Sounds like we’ll get to know him a bit this season.

Second is Rebecca Wisocky (90210′s Principal Nowack) as Queen Mab, set to appear in the season premiere. She’s not noted as a recurring character, which certainly opens up some speculation possibilities.

Oh, good, it didn't seem like there were enough characters on the show. I'm so glad they're getting more inhabitants for Hotshot. That's exactly what we needed.

ROTFLMAO!!!  Oh Kim, this is too funny and for many different and various reasons. If they did do that I would laugh so hard I'd be sick.  How ridiculous?  But it would make a nice addition to the string of "How to eff up a really good book series" decisions AB and his writers have made so far.  *snort*

It is also funny, because we AS/Eric lovers have been driven so over the top by said AB/writer decisions that we are primed to believe just about anything... and then get up in arms about it!  Come on, he could be doing voice overs for many, many reasons.  He had to film outdoors and his dialogue was muffled, or he could be a talented voice over artist and has been asked to do a couple of voices for something, or it could be flashbacks that he has to voice over... so many possibilities.  Maybe Sook gets a new cat?  Maybe Eric gives her a cat?  There are alot of references to Eric's almost feline enjoyment of contact with her in DTTW; how he enjoys rubbing his cheek on her leg or something like that.  It would make no sense to take the hottest actor on the show and reduce his screen time to voice overs. But I guess what makes sense doesn't always apply to TB, or doesn't occur to a AS/Eric lover when threatened with the potential mess up of the character.  LOL

True Blood has done a lot of stupid things but I don't believe for a minute that they will turn Eric into a cat.  Bob was such an inconsequential part of the story.  Sorry I am the one that would just quit watching at that point.  But yeah, I don't believe it. LOL

 A big storyline this season: Secretly filmed vampire attacks will be going viral, by way of YouTube, effectively throwing yet another wrench into the already strained Vampire/Human relations.  Looks like we’ll be seeing a lot more of Nan!  You know, Nan Flannigan (Jessica Tuck),the slicked-back hair, severe-looking (and acting) representative of the ever-mysterious “Authority”.  The one who leaves everyone shaking in their boots.  That one.

Regarding the King of Mississippi, Russell Edgington (played by Denis O’Hare), he is expected back at some point, but whether it will be in Season 4 is uncertain.  He has no contract as of yet.

Our favorite kick-ass, no nonsense (yet very feminine and lady-like) vamp, Pam De Beaufort (Kristin Bauer van Straten) gets a new toy.  This one happens to like being bitten, is male, and “hot and stupid”.  Go Pam!

Looking back at last season,  I will watch it again, I'll go and get the dvd's.  I might have been annoyed with parts of it, but I still like it, and I'll still watch it.

I think so.  Was after he came to visit her the next day or so.  (brought her luggage back).  She was beat up again from the Weres waiting in her house.  Is it than she realized how warm he was?  Pam and them came that night.  She saw the shawl he gave her.  Or am I missing something?

Sookie and Alcide kissed several times in Club Dead.  However, I don't recall more than an embrace in DttW.  Alcide pulled Sookie to his chest to keep her from seeing Adabelle's mutilated body at the bridal shop after Sookie sought him out to discuss the witches and Eric's "condition."  They did pretend they were engaged when the detective asked them why they were at the dress shop.  Alcide also drew Sookie to him in greeting during the scene in which the pack members and the vampires were meeting at Merlotte's to discuss what happened at Bill's house.  I think Sookie mentions that he smelled like wet dog.  After Eric pawed Sookie's ass in that scene, Sookie made an observation that Alcide was looking at her with a horrified expression on his face.

I thought so.   Now AB is going to be making this more than it should be.  Shaking my head.

JM is hot but he is not Eric.  ONce again, I offer my outloud book reading services to AB.  We can have a story time carpet and everything. Juices boxes even.

I can see the first episode now.  Fifteen minutes of following Tara down the highway while we listen to her introspective thoughts. Twenty minutes of Sam cursing because he missed his shot and the brother got away.  Fifteen minutes of Lafayette crying in Jesus' arms, and five minutes of Eric taking off his shirt and shoes to change before the witches interrupt.

Second Episode, more of Sam crying, Jason recovers his empty pickup but finds crystal stuck in the mud nearby, they wrestle.  Then Compton and the Queen bungie jump around in his living room a bit.  Jessica and Hoyt find a skeleton in the new house.  Tara is still crying in the car, Sookie is discovering she misses lemon-aid in Faerun, and finally we see Eric invite the witches into his office then the episode fades away.

Etc. Etc.

It's gotten to the point where the minor cast is getting so much attention, HBO should just do a spin off Eric and Pam show at Fangtasia. Like LAverne and Shirley, or the Odd Couple at Fangtasia. No screeching Sookie, no Beehul, no nasty Joe Lee in his underwear. Just Eric, Pam and maybe they could have  Andy and Lafayette do cameos.

Oh, and Jason and Pam wrestling would be good

A Dark and Crazy Season

Cast member Stephen Moyer (Bill Compton) recently hinted to E! Online that there will be a new dark presence in season 4 originated by Denis O’Hare(Russell Edgington) in Season 3:

“We have a new presence that will be a new kind of spectre that represents darkness.  We had the wonderful Denis O’Hare as the king of Mississippi last year who is gone at the end of season 3, so we got something else coming in to replace that darkness, which is going to be really interesting, I think, this whole new topic we have not covered.”

Nobody can replace Russell's darkness.

From all of the spoilers I've been seeing it seems like they are going to pair Alcide with Sook before she gets with Eric. This shit is taking too long already!

I feel as though AB is trying to spoonfeed the Alcide love. JM is a good looking actor, but Alcide's character  was kind of lacking in TB - especially with the lines about getting beat up again when he and Sookie went back to the bar. I think I would have liked him more if the writing for his character would have been up to par.

You know, I've been underwhelmed by TB Alcide as well.  I'm not sure if it's Joe Manganiello's performance (though I found him really amusing on How I Met Your Mother), since he very much fit the mental picture CH painted of Alcide in CD.  He seems to lack chemistry with AP or maybe he's missing the warmth and the presence that Alcide exhibited for the larger part of CD.  TB Alcide is so... boring.

I also miss the issues of class that CH writes into the Sookie-and-Alcide "relationship."  Taking that away in TB seems to alter the sense of  tension and the nature of the relationship somehow.

Yeah JM is hot. But his character was not at all like the Alcide from the books. Not even a little bit.  If they had better writing  I think he would have been fine. Or ya know if perhaps the actors would read the books and get a feel for the characters. But that is not going to happen. At least not unless you are AS .

I think if they didn't make them out to be wimps he would be better.  Even the pack leader took off.  Alcide wanted to be leader.  He was sure of himself before he started using Sookie.  AB doesn't give him a chance.  All he does is stare at her and mumbles.

I don't think JM is that good an actor. He's a little stiff. But the writing has sucked too. And I don't go for musclebound types so he isn't hot for me. I really do prefer AS's lean athetic muscular look.

Joe Manganiello told us at the Producers Build Awards: “Wherever Sookie goes, Alcide is not going to be that far behind. My request to AB is simple.  No Holly, No Jesus, No Queen Mab wannabe except for the five minutes it takes to cast her spell and then kill her.  No were or shifter politics.  Have the queen kill Bill and the rest is exploration of E/S relationship and vampire politics.

True Blood‘s werewolf hierarchy is about to experience a tectonic shift.

Daniel Buran is joining the HBO smash as Raoul, the werewolf packmaster of Shreveport. By my calculations, that makes him Alcide’s boss!

Buran, whose credits include appearances on CSI: NY, Criminal Minds and Southland, as well as CSI creator Anthony Zuiker’s digi-novel Level 26: Dark Origins, will appear in roughly seven episodes of TB‘s upcoming fourth season.

So, Buran's going to appear in MORE THAN half of the episodes of TB's fourth season.  Thus far, Alan Ball has failed to convince me that shifters, werewolves, or any other supernatural creatures are worth the time he spends on them.

A different side of Godric?  So not saintly, otherworldy, holier than thou, butter wouldn't melt in his mouth?  I really liked Alan Hyde, don't get me wrong, but more in season 2 than 3.  The fact that he seemed to be some psychotic, halucinatory dysfunction of Eric's didn't really help.  Wondering if we'll see him when he turned Eric, or before he started to question being a vampire.  That could be fun, but honestly:  WHAT THE HECK DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH AE?!!

Liann, I'm also trying to figure out what incarnation of Godric we haven't seen yet.  I think Godric appearing in a flashback would make sense, and that would have to occur within the context of Eric's story.  Or so I would assume.  We've already seen Godric massacre Eric's men, so more brutality isn't really "a different side."

You know what I'd love to see?  A flashback to when Pam was turned.  If done well, I imagine that could be pretty interesting.

There will be necromancy right? What if someone brings Godric back as a way to make Eric heel?  I hate that idea of course because that makes me think that the AE will never happen. And it probably won't as long as AB has his way.  I am sure that after two or three episodes of Sookie sleeping with Alcide, she will forgive Bee-yull.  But I always have my mute button and with the magic of DVR I can fast forward to my Eric.

So, I guess I should be pretty pleased that the aforementioned fiance has read all the Sookieverse books, save DiTF.  He doesn't love them, but he thinks they're a fun, quick, harmless read.  He said he particularly enjoyed ATD because CH provides more details about the inner workings of vampire politics.  He said to me the other day, "You're going to be real fun when Season 4 premieres, aren't you?  You know Alan Ball's never going to be able to live up to your expectations of DttW."  And then he said something about "you and your girls" (that's you ladies) sending AB hate mail if AE goes down poorly.  Oh, and I forgot to mention the most important part: That we'll end up on some "terrorist watch list" for our "threats" against AB.  Sigh.  I will attempt to contain myself.

Mine saw a few episodes of Season One but said he would rather do something else with his time than watch the dumb blonde girl and her brother. LOL. I kept telling him that the book Sookie was not that dumb but I can't really defend AP's portrayal of her.

I've tried to convince him to read the books but since he watched the the first couple of episodes, he doesn't have any interest now. My boyfriend is scared for season 4 to start. He doesn't read books so the Sookie ones are no exception. I have however read him parts and told him just about everything one needs to know about them. He watches true blood with me because he thinks its funny to see me get so worked up over fiction. I thinks I'm going to break our tv this season throwing stuff at it. He may actually win that bet. here's to hoping he's wrong!

LOL!  Yeah, well, I can see where he would get that from.  It's really funny, because my husband watched S1 of TrueBlood and tried to convince me to watch it with him.  I watched one episode, saw the yawning rabbit hole before me and said "No thanks"!  I didn't want to get invested and angsty about a show again.  But then my neighbour loned me the books, and now I'm the one who requested HBO for my birthday so I could watch the show that makes we want to throw lemons at the TV!!  Chelsea, maybe your boyfriend and my husband should start a "significant others betting pool"?!

Yeah, Karla, we discussed up thread a bit, and I dont' know what it's going to be like.  Hoping for some nice, ruthless vamp upbringing from Godric to Eric in the early days.  That could be fun, but there was something else stated that made it seem like it might be more of the psycho hallucinations.  Really hope not cuz that was incredibly annoying!!

I'm sure my fiance feels the same way, Chelsea.  The only difference is he knows what's coming up in the books, so when AB really mucks things up in the episodes (like the Bill/Sookie shower scene), he's ready to move my water/beverage out of the way before I thrash it onto the floor in annoyance.  He often tells me, "You're so cute when you're angry," which does not help matters at all.

The latest spoilers seem to suggest that AB is SO far off the mark the season is unsalvageable. I'm really not sure what I'll do if AE and Sookie are 10% of the season and the rest of the time is filled up with Hot Shot, cage fighting, fairy, werewolf, Jesus/Lafayette, Sam, and Bill crap.  If Season 4 really screws up the dynamics of Book 4 Eric/Sookie, I will probably be out for good.  I cannot stomach any more of AB's shit, and I don't want my "viewership," if you can even call it that, counted towards his ratings.  It's one thing if the show improves upon the book series, it's another when the strong female protagonist is rewritten as a dumb sideshow freak.  As it is, Eric and Sookie are just too depressing to watch.

LOL, Judy!  I might have to DVR the Season 4 episodes and come on here before viewing them just so I'm mentally prepared and my television set doesn't suffer the consequences.  Upset viewers should send the receipts for their new TV sets to AB and demand reimbursement.

We talked to Sam Trammell this weekend at an event for the True Blood: All Right Now graphic novel, and he told us about Sam's future, "What's great about this year is that we explore the shape-shifter community a little bit more, so there's going to be a lot of cool mythological stuff that we talk about, shape-shifter rules and what shape-shifters can do and who they are. Sam's [also] got a new love interest that's going to happen this year for him. I don't have really good luck with the ladies, they usually die—so hopefully she'll survive." Everybody wish Sam's new girlfriend luck on that whole "surviving Bon Temps" thing!

How about some Jessica-Boyd scoop? We chatted with Deborah Ann Woll this weekend, and she told us, "[Jessica and Boyd] ended in a very positive place but obviously that won't last for long. We definitely pick up with a bit more trouble happening. Bon Temps is a scary place! The first two episodes are very interesting—Jim [Parrack] and I had some really fun stuff to play with like right off the bat. But maybe the first episode is my favorite as of now, just because it is the most varied." Deborah also told us that Jessica and Bill (Stephen Moyer) grow closer this season, saying, "I think we're definitely also in a healing stage where he's finally accepting that he has a progeny, that he has a daughter vampire, and he needs to give me tools to actually survive. So he's definitely more cooperative and participatory in my growing up."

I don't even know what to say. I dont' read the spoilers bc they make me too angry. I can go back to writing Kill Bill when the season starts but watching the show makes my blood boil. I hate it so much its like I wish the Mystery Science Theater 3000 muppets were there heckling it. Alan Ball must be high on the smell of his own feces because nothing explains the crap he's putting out.

With all that's being said about TB.  I know I'm gonna be watching it every week. and most likely some repeats too.  I also have a feeling I'm gonna find stuff that I'm going to like.  I'll end up watching to see what's going to happen next.  Even if it's so far fetch and ridiculous.

I'll still be buying the DVD's too.

I can also read the books again.  But not to sure where that's gonna end up.    Guess we'll have little more insight after DR comes out.  Plus we have fan fic.

Stephen Moyer something that sounds like, "Are we going to get you into a, your character, into a new sense of leadership?  Is that happening this season?  Can we say that?"  Moyer replies, "Hmm...
