I've watched a bit on Ch 7 and saw Justine Henin def Aiko Nakamura 6-2, 6-2.

Game now in progress is Andy Roddick V Lukas Dluahy.

Roddick leads, 6-3, 6-4, and 3-2 in the third set. Dluahy appears to have forgotten how to serve, (he is having heaps of double faults).

Yeah I've been watching a bit on Ch 7.

Just watched Lleyton Hewitt thrash Steve Darcis of Belguim  6-0, 6-3, 6-0.

Hewitt looked good, but that was prob because Darcis appeared to be overwhelmed by the experience. (his first on a centre court).

I am glad that Alicia Molik won, as she has had a rough time of it the last couple of years and is still not playing at her best.

I note also that   Marcos Baghdatis def Thomas Johansson of Sweden.

Bummer.... so lleyton is through to the next round eh?

Hewett also had a big one to defeat Baghdatis, I went to bed about 2.00am, but apparently it didn't finish till after 4.00am.

Although it looks like Sanya gave her a run for her money in the first set.

Yeah, she started off well, but then just faded.

The Federer match was a good one to watch.

I didn't watch the Hewitt one at all. Dozed off.

I wonder if anyone has ever told Hewett, that the peak of his cap is there to shade his eyes, and that he wears clothes that are two sizes too large for him???

Obviously his Mum must think that it is a good look, or she would say something.(she seems to be at all his matches).

I watched a repeat of the last couple of sets of the Hewett/Baghdatis match last night, and I found it annoying, that before either serving or receiving, he always had to adjust his pants and pull the shoulders of his shirt up onto his shoulders.

It's not a good look. (but then maybe I'm just an old fart)

I just think that he'd save himself a lot of hassle if he bought clothes that fitted him. All that sweaty (excess) clothing flapping around must affect your play in the long term.

But that's exactly what I dislike about him... that he's so figety... UGH!!

He's developed all these little quirks as part of his service motion, and it's regardless of his clothing. (I remember there was once we was wearing a different style shirt, and he was still doing the same thing!)

There are lots of players who have these quirks, repetitions (Sharapova for eg) but Hewitt is just unbearable.
It's just an overall displeasure watching him. And I haven't even brought up the yelling or talking to his 'box'

Yeah, why can't we produce another, Ken Rosewall, Rod Laver, or even in recent times a Pat Rafter?

These people were the best in the world, but all they did was play tennis without any bullshit attached.

When calls went against them there was no reaction from them, they just prepared to play the next point.

I think that Jimmy Connors started this 'brat crap' behaviour. (at least he's the first one that I remember carrying on like that)

I once met Rod Laver and Roy Emerson, and two nicer people you couldn't hope to meet.

I think Hewitt is a spoilt child. He's been spoilt by all the yes-people that seem to be around him all the time, and in this I include the greater aussie tennis community - Newcombe, Stolle and co. These guys have defended him when they should have stood up and made him take responsibility.

I watched the Tsonga Rafa match, and Tsonga didn't just beat Nadal, he embarassed him.

Nadal had no answer to Tsonga's Serve and power play.

I reckon that Federer and Djokovic would have watched it with some aprehension of things to come.

We will see tonight whether it's Federer or Djokovic who will have to face him, but Federer has not been really convincing in his matches so far.

I also watched the Ivanovic Hantuchova semi and congratulate Ana on her win, but is she good enough to beat Maria??

My picks for the final are :- Tsonga and Sharapova...

Yeah, I had my doubts abt Ana until I saw her play in the semis... She did really well to not only dig herself out of a hole, but to win the match!

I was sorry to see Federer beaten, but Djokovic played some great tennis. (especially his serves).

It's going to be a cracker of a final, with two power serving players up against each other.

I don't really mind which one of them wins it, but I am sticking with my prediction of Tsonga.

There must be some disease going around the top tennis players this year, as both Justine Henin and Roger Federer were only mere shadows of their former selves. (well that's how it appeared to me).

Roger wasn't too bad, but for once he was against a player who didn't let him in at all. Novak kept his level up all the time. He had one slip when serving for the 2nd set the first time, but he didn't buckle the second time, which is an excellent testament to his mental strength. That could have been the turning point of the match

The women's final is on now, and I can't believe they're having it at 1pm in summer!!!

I think you may find that the timing of the match was more to do with TV programming, than sexism. (but I dont really know)

I guess 1.00pm on a Sat arvo may be considered prime time (for a sports telecast), but it certainly shows little respect for the comfort and well being of the players and spectators.

He received a time violation in his match against Federer for that bloody ball bouncing,and you could see Tsonger complaining to the umpire about it, but he did nothing about it.

Every time he was under pressure on his serve he did it to put the other player off. IT'S AGAINST THE BLOODY RULES!

I counted 14 bounces sometimes.

He's not the only player who does that. (Not just the ball bouncing, but the taking his time when under the gun)

On about one of his 14+ bounces someone yelled out "Just hit the bloody thing" and Djokovic said to the umpire "Aren't you going to tell them to be quiet". The crowd really loved him after that.
