Hi, you did a great job with steekr! I use it everyday now.

I am just a little frustrated by the way I read, play or listen to my files. I think that the use of the right click and a drag-drop system could really improve this service.

If you really propose plans at the prices shown on the website you will have the best storing offer! At least for me...

I wonder if that is the same issue I have... I can't get anything on to it....  The design of the site looks intuitive but now I want to use it I can't work out how to. I am not sure what SteekR links are. I kept clicking on Documents, Pictures in My Steekr hoping to find a way to upload there and it kept opening the Welcome Page...

I have tried clicking around the Dashboard but nothing is happening.

I have uploaded a contact and email OK

The interface seems good - iof only I could get some files on so I could play around with it a bit...

OK. I scrolled down the Welcome Page and saw the link... "Go to Your Storage" and have opened a new page which looks v promising. (Note - Having a cross on the click "Storgae" button made me wonder if it was OK to use it)

I am creating some folders for pics and will now try and upload them

OK. It uploaded one pic and I thought I had selected five from iPhoto. Will try and share this one now...

That's all OK. I am trying to share the image with the contact I added. The "Activate email alert feature" option box has puzzled me. If I am sharing with this person will they not get an email anyway? How will they know I am trying to share with them?...

OK. I have shared the file. Will see if they get it OK. I left the email alert box unchecked...

All received OK. The pic opens in a Steekr interface which I am not sure is necessary. If I sent this to my dad for example, he would find that intimidating. He just needs to see the pic. I also realised I used my screen name and he would not have realised it was me, Kellie, sending it because it came from Kasta. I know this now though so would include my name in the email text that is sent with the image.

I feel like this site is almost great. The design seems very good but I did find it confusing when I went to use it. It will probably get easier each time I use it...

Can we share files from different folders as well?

I thought that the "playlist" would allow me to share a list of files but I can only share an entire folder and not 2 files from 2 different folders.

Yes benatnet, it is possible to have a selection of files through multiple folders : if you check a file in one folder and you check another file in another file, you will be able to see both files in "My Selection" (on the right panel). You will then be able to click on the "Share" feature button and create a sharing link to this selection.

just noticed a spelling mistake: the music folder is called "My Musics",  and not "My Music". 

You cannot see in the folder view, which files you are sharing !

Are there any plans to integrate zip/unzip or url upload features into Steekr? I can think of some interesting use cases for such features. Anyway, steekr seems to be very promising. Lately I tried out the beta usb client software and it worked seamlessly. Keep up the great work!

I tried Steekr yesterday and I'm in love! Site is beautiful, simple, organized and has all the functions I'm looking for - easy drag n drop upload, organizing, browse photos, share links (especially the feature that I can share a folder with someone with read/write function -so I can have my clients upload files to me) - awesome!

Also I'm glad you make it cross platform (I'm on Firefox/Mac)

Do have a few issues (no one's perfect)

1) It's a bit slow and time out a lot (error: The connection has timed out-The server at steekr.com is taking too long to respond.)

2) Even though the features are pretty intuitive, it would be helpful for new users to have a support/help document to go over all features. Took me a while to figure out how to send a link. (and the icon didn't look like it)

As I'm using the service, I'm finding more issues - I hope they would be put into your upgrade:

1) Multitasking, baby. If I'm uploading something, I cannot upload or download another file even if I open a new window. They see everything as same session. Same problem with download. I wish I'm able to have several download going at the same time and not cancel out each other.

2) It's a nice feature that the zip file would be unzipped automatically when I upload it. But I wish to have the choice of keeping it zipped. I would like my shared user to download the zip file as one file.

3) The shared link I sent to people automatically default to German, and it does not have the option to switch language.

+ Partage / Sharing+

1) Il serait pratique de pouvoir définir une durée de partage lorsque l'on partage des fichiers (par exemple une propale ou des photos)... cela évite de voir ses fichiers se ballader

It would be nice to choose a length of sharing: 1 day, 1 week, 1month... 

2) Pour les contacts pouvoir importer son carnet d'adresse serait également pratique, par exemple avec l'api de plaxo (plaxo.com propose un carnet d'adresse universel)

Euh je sais que je me suis peut etre mal débrouillé mais lorsque j'ai voulu télécharger les outils d'upload je me suis retrouvé avec au moins cinq liens vers des versions différentes de Quick Drive, Drive Drive ou Drive.. entre les versions beta, multilingues ou en anglais seulement j'ai un peu pataugé entre les différents liens de partage (pourquoi ne pas centraliser sur une seule page les différents outils en version finale et les versions beta)

+ Bug +

- Un petit bug mais bon j'avoue que je suis en tord : j'ai voulu tester steekr avant de m'abonner : j'ai donc cree deux comptes de test puis j'ai souscrit un abonnement payant sur le mail A qui n'est pas mon mail principal. J'ai voulu  modifier mon mail en indiquant mon mail B lui aussi enregistré sur le service. Du coup me suis dit que j'allais indiquer pour le compte B un autre mail (C) et uqe je n'aurais ensuite qu'à basculer le compte A vers le mail B. Le systeme me dit que c'est impossible et voit que le compte B a deux adresses email : B et C... Je sais c'est un peu tordu mais bon peut etre un bug ?

- Lorsque je partage un dossier contenant des mp3 et une image jpg de la pochette avec le nouvel outil de diaporama il faut changer d'onglet pour passer des images aux mp3. Lorsque l'on est en train d'ecouter un morceau cela coupe l'ecoute et on revient à la premiere piste lorsqu'on rebascule sur l'onglet musique après etre allé voir les images.

+ Suggestions +

- Lorsqu'on partage un fichier et que l'on saisit un commentaire, on dispose de 500 caractères pour notre commentaire. Lorsqu'on communique le lien de partage seuls les premiers caractéres de  ce commentaire apparaisent en haut de l'ecran (à coté du choix de la langue).

- Pouvoir intégrer directement sur un blog, un forum, un site...  un partage en embed. Ce serait également sympa de proposer les différents codes à copier coller directement (comme le font pando ou imageshacks.us lorsqu'on partage des documents),

- fonction tout à fait gadget mais bon on sait jamais.. sur la page de partage proposer un formulaire pour contacter l'auteur du partage

It's been several months since I started to use Steekr and it's working beautifully. Loving it. One suggestion - I've been sending the sharing link to many people to upload files. I think either the Drag and Drop window is not always compatible with everyone's browser or people are intimidated and not used to the feature (even though I love it) - they keep telling me that they have problem uploading and ask if I can just send them a FTP access. Maybe in addition to the very advanced drag and drop upload feature, you can also have a more basic upload feature "Click here to upload files" as another option. Like the example:

[form field] [browse button] [remove button]

[upload button] [add another file button]

Drag and drop is a great feature, but I've been getting too much complaints from people I sent link to. Thanks.

Click on upload button (up arrow), then choose "Classical" upload.

I guess the feature lacks visibility...

Found it! You're right - I love the icons but in terms of interface usability - might need to put text on the button or make them more obvious. Even the ">> If you do not wish to use a java applet, click here to use Classical Upload. << is not a very obvious place to find. Possibly make it a bigger button. When I started, it took me a while to figure out how to make share links and how to download files (not like they're hard. Just need to look around for the features because they're not very obvious.)

voici différentes remarques concerant steekr :

1. Est-ce qu'il est prévu un développement d'une interface Drag & Drop pour le site internet?
2. J'ai pas mal de soucis avec SteekrDriveDrive (nouvelle version) qui plante quand j'essaye d'enregistrer un fichier directement de word.
3. Je trouve dommage que les backup auto se fasse dans le dossier "Mon PC en ligne", je perds pas mal de temps a ouvrir les dossiers un par un sur internet.
4. Avec le developpement des desktop virtuels il serait pas mal de combiner steekr avec une boite mail...
5. Finalement il pourrait être très interressant de créer un systeme de modification de fichiers partagés (documents word) en ligne comme sur http://www.writeboard.com/

en espérant que ca pourra apporter de nouvelles idées...

juste une question cette fois: pourquoi avez-vous mis un apercu pixélisé des photos pour le préchargement du diaporama?

Je trouve que ca gache le plaisir du diaporama... mieux vaut peut etre attendre 10 secondes avant de le lancer que de voir ses photos toutes déformées.

I have made a test after uploading a file and press twice the create link button.

I then observe that 2 links have been created and they are different even though they allow to download the same file.

Why is it so ?
