Hi. I started to use SU a month ago. Loved it. Used it a lot, for a few days. Then, i kinda stopped using it... Currently, it's not even in my toolbar. But possibly this simply depends on the fact that i'm not in the mood of "exploring" the web these days...
SU has been THE place for me for the last 3 or so years. If you are "community" minded, you can meet some interesting and varied folks there, and even make friends with a few
I don't know about "useful" really, but since I work at a computer all night, with alot of downtime, I find it keeps me from going bonkers with boredom!![]()
Yeah. What she said *points up at Gracey*
SU is not really *useful* ... it's just a heck of a lot of fun!![]()
I love the SU community and that's what's kept me there over the years. (More so than the great websites I find.)
I think it's useful like about 100 apps that I think are useful but rarely use.
Del.icio.us is the same......
I have a few apps I use every day, everything else I will 'stumble across' once or twice a month.
I started using it because of the want of posting directly to my blog without having to open up blogger and create the post (this was prior to the creation of the blogger add-on for FF that lets you do that, but newer versions of FF broke the tool...
)
I liked it a lot to read these posts about SU being funny.
this is a side of my web experience i kind of tend to forget. SU is funny, in fact.
and this is why i'm not using it very much these days - willing to be "efficient, proficient, and bla bla bla" all the time i'm front of the pc...(sad but true)
Yes. I *try to refrain* from stumbling while I have a lot of work.
Your productivity suffers incredibly. You hardly notice because it's little by little but then *boom* you're so far behind you don't know which end is up!
Breaking news:
e-bay! wow... (someone got rich
)
Oh, all these years I wondered how SU survived without ads and what is their revenue model !!! Now is it just a e-bay to buy it ?? They could have associated with Google or Yahoo or MSN to place ads to survive or get income. Stumblers may not mind seeing some context ads based on their stumbled content. Anyways they want to see something new but related.
As far as the SU is concerned it is one of my must add toolbars in firefox, Flock, IE . Just because I couldnot add it to I even left Opera which has been my favorite browser since 1999 !! Now Google Sync, SU , Yahoo, Google, Live toolbars and Blue Organizers occupy my browser space.
i guess SU was bought (and valued) because of its community, and his users. a potential. to turn in it into a real value, they (e-bay...) will need to imagine a businness model. ads, or anything else. but possibly e-bay is not so hurried of making money (directly) out of SU

SU survived based on Stumble Ads that are seen by those that are not sponsors (denoted with the little green box, as opposed to the blue box next to their screen name).
The only thing I have noticed about SU since E-bay aquired it... I have TONS more visitors each day... which kinda sucks, since I can only actually "see" the most recent 10 that stopped by for a visit... I have been having a heck of a time keeping up with the influx of newbies sending me comments and messages (which is why i have been MIA from Tangler)... *whew*
Come back!
Yes, Gracey, I have also observed that there is raise in visitors who didnt pay a second visit. Another thing is few understand what we can do with so many social networking services even after so much hype about social networking. Most of the visitors now simply add as freind ( because in SU there is no diffference between favourite, contact and friend) and start sending messages. I have changed privacy settings long back in myspace. Now I had to do samething in SU. Messages without any valid reason. Goodmorning, Hi from unknown people is really annoying. May be all the people are new generation trying to get hands on experience in these sites.
