At times, Australia appears to suffer from a lack of ambition and drive. We live comfortable lives, we work hard and enjoy the holidays. This leads to a better quality of life.
But a side effect of it is a negative opinion of risk taking, entrepreneurialism, and even success. It’s ok to succeed, but don’t be too proud of it, don’t take too much credit for it and certainly don’t flaunt it.
I believe this impacts 3rd plus generation Australians more than ‘newer’ Australians who appear to have more excitement about the opportunities that exist.
The end result of this is that Australia does well, but often doesn’t achieve it’s full potential.
Questions:
1. Is this really true?
2. Do we have a better lifestyle and is that worth more?
3. How do we foster more entrepreneurial spirit?
4. What are the root causes of this issue?
5. Can we have both ambition and lifestyle?

Promoting the Summit, the Blog, the forum
What are some ways we can build all these up and get some ak-shun (action)?
It's always good to get a bit of momentum up with our FFF before we go much wider.
Let's all invite our buddies, and then we can invite our followers and then get some media coverage?

I know the blog said this is for tech community, but should we open this broader?

I think Sydney has the momentum to be one of the top 5 tech hubs of the world by 2020.
Things we need to do to support it;

Over the weekend, Australian Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd, announced the 2020 Summit to address challenges facing Australia. In doing so he said:
“I think it’s time for a new approach to the nation’s long term future… [There has been] too much short-termism in the past, let’s get on with it and look out to the next decade and beyond…
“In harnessing the ideas and energies of the nation, let’s look beyond the ranks of ministers, politicians and public servants as well, and see what the rest of the nation has to say.”
In an encouraging move, Leader of the Opposition, Brendan Nelson has thrown his party’s support behind the summit. It appears that in 2008, bipartisanship has a chance of functioning! At least on this issue.
Now, it appears time to put appropriate thought leaders into the public eye so that they might be among the 1000 Australians selected to take part in the Summit.
The Australian Tech community, and it’s practitioners working in the Internet and Web industries in particular think this is a great idea. This blog will be a place for the community to host that discussion. There’s Stephen Collins for access as a blog author.
