v What the hell is the gold standard?

^ Right now paper money is only worth something because the government says that it's legal tender. A gold standard is when each bill represents a physical chunk of gold that the government has in a vault somewhere, you can't change the amount of gold each bill is worth and only print as much paper money as you have gold. It ties paper money to something with raw value, something that could be bartered or traded on its own without needing a state and army to back it's worth.

^ most frequently eaten would be cookies of varying types, most enjoyed would be a DIY creation known as banoffee biscuits that was born on a campsite once, its a digestive biscuit, spread with caramel, few slices of banana on top then squirt on some whipped cream from a spray can. Its damn good, but the banana has a tendency to slide away and off the other side of the biscuit as you bite them
